"Final day at NAMM — and the energy is still unreal 🔥🎹⚡🎶
I can't really believe what happened there, as I was checking out the Leviasynth at https://www.ashunsoundmachines.com booth, Corey Henry rolls up on me with his camera ... while I was playing 🤯😅 I then have one of the coolest NAMM hangouts with Cory and my friend Matthew Whitaker, who BTW won a Grammy like the day after 🤯🤯🤯😍😍😍 Congratulations @MatthewWhitakerOfficial what an achievement ❤️🎹 @CoryHenry has a few of those 🙌
From there, everything happened — running into the legend Jonathan 'Sugarfoot' Moffett (Michael Jackson’s lifetime live drummer), Visiting Roland, Yamaha, Moog, testing odd synths, and discovering one of the most hilarious instruments of the show: the fully real, California-built Banana Synthesizer.
Finally I get to watch Justin Lee Shultz live, jamming with Matthew, and getting a selfie with both of them!"

"We invited Matthew Allum from ALM/Busy Circuits to host our latest in-store event. The brains behind Pamela’s New/Pro Workout and dozens of other incredible Eurorack modules chatted to us about all things ALM and answered audience questions. He also showed off ALM’s awesome Turismo modular system and revelaed some new modules.

"Here's something a little different which is sharing in the process of rebranding a Eurorack Modular Synthesizer company. In this case ... DPW Design from Sweden. Dan (DPW) has become a good friend and colleague over the years and I've really wanted a visual identity that stands out as strong as the engineering and electronics design, especially in support of new things coming for DPW in the future. Bringing in Matthew Shaw to the process has been great and led to the rebranding we have here."

"We caught up with Mathieu from UDO at BAF 2025, where he introduced their new *Ribbon Controller*. While the existing ribbon is familiar to those using the Gemini, Mathieu explained that UDO wanted to make it available for other synths as well. The ribbon can now be magnetically attached to various keyboards, including the Super 8, and connects through an expression pedal input for broader compatibility.
Additionally, Mathieu revealed a new module designed for incorporation into modular systems. This module features dual touch functionality, allowing you to trigger two gates and two CVs concurrently. You can assign the first touch for pitch and the second for filter cutoff, with modes like hold to retain the last CV. A forthcoming looper function will enable recording and playback of CV and gates.
Matthew anticipated a March release for the ribbon and April for the module, with pricing around €300 for the ribbon and €200 for the module."
"Synths: Sequential Pro 3, Sequential Prophet X, Modal Cobalt 8 all played by Davy Bui
Bass: Davy Bui except outro by Matthew Kretzman.
Recorded at Santo Recording Studio, Oakland, CA in August 2024.
Zachary James Watkins: engineer
Thanks to ByLy for shooting the footage.
This track has been a couple years in the making. It's been written for awhile but it took me some time to improve enough to be somewhat satisfied with the lead. I'm grateful for this track teaching me the fine margins and how a collection of notes can become music. I'm also grateful for the bassline -- it's one of my favorites."
INSTRUMENTS: Moog Matriarch Oberheim OB-6 Meris Mercury 7 Strymon Deco Strymon Volante UA Golden
NOTES: A sequence runs on the Matriarch with a patch that adds random accents by periodically triggering an envelope with sample and hold. This adds a sense of extra notes or an extra voice. The lead sound is a tape-warbly keys patch on the OB-6. I love this patch as it just drips with nostalgia and introspection. The main reverb heard is both synths running through the Mercury 7 and then UA Golden is on a send from the main mixer.
*Thanks to Nicky Pe for the beautiful video clip.
*The title is an homage to a poem by Basho. He had spent a few nights at a monastery while traveling. When he left, having no money to give to the monks, he wrote this poem:
Sweep the garden -- All Kindesses, Falling willow leaves repay.
RECORDING Everything is recorded live and direct with no post production aside from normalization and limiting.
"At Superbooth 2024, Sonic State had the chance to chat with Matthew from Morphor and get an exclusive look at the latest products from the company. The highlight of the show was the unveiling of their new Echo module, a multi-tap delay featuring four BBDs for rich and versatile sound manipulation. The module offers a range of controls including tap tempo, quantized delay, panning modes, and CV-able parameters, making it a must-have for modular enthusiasts looking to experiment with complex rhythmic patterns and textures.
In addition to the Echo, Matthew also showcased their existing range of modules such as the Plectrum and essential dual modules designed to complement and expand the functionality of their systems.

"Sam Battle, AKA LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER, returns with his latest and most personal single, T.I.M. The emotional track was inspired by Battle’s own experience with loss and grieving experiences that don’t work out as expected:
“Tim is a song about things not always going to plan, and not knowing how to express your feelings. It’s a song about an experience my wife and I had earlier in the year when her pregnancy didn’t go completely to plan.”
The track’s melody was initially devised at a show in Copenhagen, where Sam was improvising.
“The song was recorded on my analog synth, the melody I had for a while from the chorus. I kept playing it in livestreams and people picked it out as a melody they liked, I liked it too! It was all recorded live from the modular synth then I wrote the song over.”
LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER will headline London’s Oslo on the 22nd of November, and has recently announced an EU tour for 2024."
