Roland System 100 Model 101 SN 531459

video upload by Seventy Three Records Music Store

via this eBay listing

"It all works, all sliders, jacks, keys etc and sounds amazingly wicked. BUT there are a couple of sliders that have sputtered signal when moved at some point along the throw of the fader / knob… that said all sounds good without sputtered noise when set and left. This is pretty typical of a synth this age. Could use a detailed pot / slider cleaning / deoxit.

Also, while the keys trigger.. they could also benefit from a detailed contact cleaning. Again, this is a VERY common thing with roland synths of this era as we've had several SH5, SH3, SH7's etc… all had that issue. When we triggered this synth via external CV it played, responded and handled perfectly via another keyboard. BUT the keys do work."

"Novation X Station 61 Synth in good condition. Check out the video attached of this actual X Station.

This synth in my opinion, was one of novations strongest synth engines of the 2000s. Great pads, basses, leads, arpeggiated synths and so much more. Great sound! It works good, but has wear from being used over the years. Lots of scuffs, scratches, faders are a little stiff but still work good. I am pricing this well lower than usual. All said, it still works good and delivers some wicked sounds!"

ARP Odyssey "Instant Odyssey" Overlay Series: Episode 8 - Clarinet or Brass

video upload by EMEAPP and Mike Kiker

"In this short video series, our Education Associate Mike Kiker will be exploring the ARP Odyssey and the collectible "Instant Odyssey" preset overlay set.
Created by David Frederick, former vice president of ARP, as a means of selling the instrument and giving the player some familiar sounds to get started and learn to program the synth along the way.
This patch sounds like a good way to give a player who is new to synths a chance to hear the differences between square and sawtooth waves."

ASM Leviasynth: The Most Ambitious Synth of 2026?

video upload by Starsky Carr

"So much more than a DX7 on steroids. In this hands-on walkthrough I program the Leviasynth from scratch to show what Ashun Sound Machines' 16-voice hybrid synth (the long-awaited Hydrasynth successor) can really do: 8 oscillators per voice, 144 algorithms, 7 modulation types, I even demo wavetable-style tones, deep DHDSR envelopes and that gorgeous new analog filter.

I'll show you how it sounds, how it's built and exactly how to start programming it — from a classic Prophet-5 patch to dirty FM basses, glassy vintage-digital pads and modular-style generative patches. By the end you'll understand the workflow and whether the Leviasynth deserves a place at the centre of your studio.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
๐ŸŽน ABOUT THE LEVIASYNTH
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The ASM Leviasynth is a 16-voice, 8-oscillator algorithmic hybrid synthesizer from Ashun Sound Machines — the team behind the Hydrasynth. It pairs an advanced digital engine (144 algorithms, 7 synthesis types, 300+ waveforms, FM, phase distortion, phase modulation, pulse-width modulation and sync) with a brand-new pure analog 4-pole resonant filter featuring custom pre-drive saturation. Add 13 envelopes, 5 LFOs, a deep mod matrix, a 3-track sequencer, arpeggiator, Polytouch polyphonic-aftertouch keybed and ribbon controller, and you have one of the most powerful synths released in years. Available in keyboard and desktop versions."

"Behringer JT-2: My 2 Cents
With all the available 'heavily-inspired-but-not-clones' from Behringer, I’m starting to wonder when the company will introduce original synths again. Anyhow... This time, I’m taking a closer look at the Behringer JT-2, a paraphonic synth inspired by Roland’s Jupiter-8. It comes in similar colours but certainly doesn’t carry over the visual aesthetics of the '80s flagship synth. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as Behringer can keep costs down by using one chassis for a plethora of different models. At a budget-friendly price point, you get a lot of synth in a unit that doesn’t take up too much valuable studio real estate, either. But first things first...

Vladimir Kuzmin, Creator of the Legendary Soviet Polivoks Synthesizer has Passed Away

Some sad news in via @elta_music

"Greetings to the entire synth enthusiast community.

We have some bad news for you.

Vladimir Kuzmin, creator of the iconic POLIVOKS synthesizer, passed away on June 12th.

Rest and peace our dear friend. Our collaboration was wonderful. Condolences to the family. #polivoks #polyvox #synth #synthesizer #synths"

Vladimir Kuzmin's influence in the world of synths is legendary. You can find endless posts featuring his Polivoks synthesizr here. The Polivoks was often compared to the minimoog, however, it was also known for its agressive sounding filter which has been cloned and/or used by various synth makers, including the Harvestman aka Black Corporation, Analog Craftsman, SOMA's PULSAR-23 1984 edition, AJH Synths Matrix VCF module, and of course Elta Music's implementations of his designs.

The following is an interview with Vladimir Kuzmin from Soundmit 2020.

SOUNDMIT

"We interviewed Vladimir Kuzmin together with Giulio Curiel of New Musical Instruments. Inventor of the Polivoks and other Russian synthesizers in the 70s and 80s, we hear from his voice the story of those incredible years"

"TRX-12 isn't just another sample player on a grid.

It's built around ideas you won't find in other trackers:

31 creative Step-FX commands — stack up to four per step for chords, strums, ratchets, probability, evolving pitch, glides, reverses, random slices and more. This is the secret weapon.

Polyphonic chords on a single track — real chords, right on the grid.

Multiple drum sounds on ONE track — sequence a whole kit on a single lane with no sample choking.

Multi-sample playback instrument with built-in trance gate

Round-robin playback — instant realism on drums and one-shots.

Melodies that evolve and mutate — scale-aware "evolve" and probability-based pitch let your sequences grow and change as they play.

Randomize everything — samples, synth sounds, sequences, even slicer slices — endless inspiration on tap.

Resample on the fly — bounce any pattern to a new sample and reload it instantly."

Phil Hartnoll of Long Range shows us his synths, including his TB-303 that he has had since forever.

video upload by Tomรกs Mulcahy

Phil Hartnoll (Orbital) studio tour.

"I had uploaded this years ago, and as someone said at the time 'It looks like it was shot on a potato' which was true :) I used Adobe Dialogue enhance to clean up the sound, and a free online video enhance for the picture all of which brought it out nicely. The bit about the TB-303 at 7:05 is my favourite part :) Can't believe it's been almost 20 years!

Exclusive video of the gear in the Long Range studio

Phil runs through his synth collection detailing his best (and worst!), not forgetting the classic TB-303 on which some techno classics were written, complete with stickers for the tunes! We put him on the spot and ask which three pieces of gear he'd take to a desert island and then Nick runs through the band's bank of outboard gear. Fast!

Matti from NYU and Talking Synths

video upload by The MIDI Association

"MIDItoSpeech is a set of software and tools to 'speak' the affordances on the synthesizers using a computer. Our model relies on MIDI transmission of parameters as affordances are touched on the synth. This is being designed as both a Max patch / Max4Live device as well as a website using the Web MIDI API. In both cases, there is a community-driven repository of JSON files (the ‘devices’ folder) for models of synthesizers that describe their NRPN / CC values with labels, enumerators, etc.

Manufacturers can develop these JSON files as part of their production pipeline, and community members / enthusiasts can develop them for legacy synthesizers, open source initiatives, etc. As a second-order benefit, these files can be used for translanguaging as well as access (i.e. you could have distinct JSON files for a synthesizer in English, Mandarin, Spanish, etc.).

Alesis NanoSynth - Rare Prototype Demo

video upload by John L Rice

"I thought I would document this prototype example of an Alesis NanoSynth I bought on eBay long ago, before I sell it. I didn't take the time to verify if the sounds are all the same as a production model or not, but I suspect there may be some differences? One thing not working as far as I can tell is the built in factory demo that all production versions of Alesis Nano synthesizers have. And yeah, that's not me talking, I wanted to learn how to use the AI text to voice feature in DaVinci Resolve. (sorry not sorry! ๐Ÿ˜)

EML 101 and EML 200 Manuals

This one is in via Keith Soehn who had the following to say:

"As a former owner of 2 EML 101s, an EML 200 and the EML 400/401/416 Sequencer, I somehow felt the need to desktop publish the manuals for the above-mentioned EMLs. (I will also redo the EML 500.) It’s my belated thanks to all the people and to present and past users of these synths and sequencer. I enjoyed working with these units.

I presently have finished two manuals for the EML 101 and the EML 200, and I’m almost finished with the Sequencer manual. James Gideon has graciously posted the pdfs on his website at: https://siliconbreakdown.com/eml"

Side note: you can find videos by The Silicon Breakdown in additional posts here. You will find posts going back as far as 2008.

Rhodes Chroma Polaris 64-Key 6-Voice Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer SN 300109

via this Reverb listing

"The Chroma Polaris was the predecessor to the classic Rhodes Chroma. Even with its heritage, the Chroma series of keyboards has seemed to resist the inflation that vintage analog synths often have. This synth gives massive sounds with the added benefit of having midi I/O. A hi-fi synth with 6 voices of analog polyphony. Creamy sounds, very lush with tons of character. Total sleeper! Wow."

Additional Nightlife Electronics Listings

"The Roland SH-5 is possibly the most feature rich vintage mono synth ever made by the legendary Japanese company. With 2 LFO's, 2 VCO's, 1 variable state VCF, 1 bandpass filter, 2 Envelopes, 1 VCA, S&H, Ring Mod and a simple but powerful switch matrix for routing modulation this synth is more than capable of making some of the most incredible tones and textures you can imagine!

Made in the late 1970's 'green face' Roland era, when their synths had a certain magic sound that is hard to describe. Fizzling and alive with electricity!

A handful of patch points on the back give you access to all the essential controls via CV so that this can play along nicely with a modern set-up.

This particular SH-5 has just been fully serviced in our Synthesizer Rejuvenation and Wellness Centre and comes with a 90 day warranty of good health. Original lid included."

Voidcontrol MIDI Releases OB-6 Unofficial Editor: DAW Integration for the Oberheim OB-6

OB-6 Unofficial Editor - VST3 Demo video upload by Voidcontrol MIDI

"Voidcontrol MIDI has released the OB-6 Unofficial Editor, a Windows VST3 plugin that lets you control and automate the Oberheim OB-6 from within a DAW, just like a software instrument.

The OB-6 is a beloved analog polysynth, and the Unofficial Editor makes it straightforward to integrate into a modern DAW session. Every parameter is on screen, organized by section, with real DAW automation on every control rather than just MIDI learn. A standalone version is also included.

Features include:

Full parameter control, organized by section
Real DAW automation lanes for every parameter (VST3 version)
A patch library with naming, categories, search, and sharing
A polyphonic sequencer that plays back on the OB-6 itself
A/B snapshots with an automatable morph slider
Editing of the OB-6's global settings
A resizable interface (50% to 300%)

The editor has been tested in Ableton Live, Bitwig, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One, and Waveform, and works in the Windows 11 MIDI 2.0 environment.

'I built it because I wanted my OB-6 to fit into my DAW the way my soft synths do, and I designed it to be something I'd want to use myself every day,' said Dave of Voidcontrol MIDI.

Voidcontrol MIDI is a small US-based developer making editors for boutique and classic hardware synths. The OB-6 Unofficial Editor is its second release.

The OB-6 Unofficial Editor is available now at voidcontrolmidi.com for an introductory $30 USD through June 16, 2026, after which it returns to its regular price of $40 USD.

For more information: https://voidcontrolmidi.gumroad.com/l/mqbtla

The OB-6 Unofficial Editor is a third-party tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Sequential or Oberheim. 'OB-6' is a trademark of its respective owner."
