PGB-1: A powerful Groovebox / MIDI sequencer the size of a credit card by Wee Noisemakers

video upload by Floyd Steinberg

"The Wee Noisemakers PGB-1 (https://weenoisemakers.com/pgb-1/) is a credit‑card‑sized groovebox — but as we all know, size doesn’t matter. With 16 tracks, 16 patterns, and a song editor to tie everything together, you can create music not only with the internal synths and samplers but also with external MIDI gear. In this video, I try to give a solid overview of what to expect, though I don’t go into every detail. If you have questions, feel free to post them in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer.

For this video, I was provided with a review unit. Other than that, no money was exchanged.

Soft Synths, Warped Drums, and Lo-Fi Tape Textures | Wave and Cradle 2026-02-01 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"This piece was created using ‪@SONICWARE‬ AmbientØ, ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, and tape loops. Soft synth tones drenched in reverb blend with warped drum patterns and lo-fi tape textures, forming an ambient electronica composition.

On AmbientØ, harmonic sequences and single-note patterns are played, with additional synth parts performed live. Built-in reverb is applied, followed by further reverb processing via ‪@strymon‬ blueSky on the output.

The OP-1 field loops sampled drum sounds using the ENDLESS sequencer.

A ‪@WeAreRewind1‬ cassette player plays a tape loop containing a recorded piano performance. The sound is recorded through ‪@HologramElectronics‬ MICROCOSM, with reversed layers added using the PHRASE LOOPER."

The "Easel" Spirit in 3U - A West Coast Eurorack Deep Dive

video upload by Sean Graves

The following is in via Sean Graves, who had the following to say:

"The piece, 'The 'Easel' Spirit in 3U: Rebuilding a Buchla Soul in Eurorack,' documents my five-year journey to replicate the specific workflow and 'soul' of the Buchla Music Easel using a curated Eurorack system."

"This post explores the creative power of 5-step sequencing (the 'migrating downbeat'), the 'origami' of wavefolding via the Verbos Complex Oscillator, and the organic harmonic dampening of vactrol-based Low Pass Gates. It’s a technical yet accessible look at why the West Coast workflow remains the 'holy grail' for performance - based synthesis."

The full write-up follows, with a demonstration of the system in the video above.

The “Easel” Spirit in 3U: Rebuilding a Buchla Soul in Eurorack

The Buchla Music Easel is legendary. It isn’t just a synthesizer. It’s a self-contained performance ecosystem. For many of us, the “Easel” workflow is the holy grail of synthesis. However, instead of chasing original hardware, I’ve spent the past five years rebuilding its specific soul within the Eurorack format. Because everyone deserves a hobby, right?

The Chef vs. The Sculptor
Most East Coast synthesizers work like a sculptor. You start with a massive block of harmonic noise (Sawtooth or Square waves) and carve it away with a filter. The Buchla workflow is different. It’s like being a chef in your own Hell’s Kitchen. You start with basic, “bland” ingredients (sine waves) and spice them up with Frequency Modulation (FM), Amplitude Modulation (AM), your choice, and then fold until the sound sizzles.

My current rig recreates this spirit by focusing on three pillars: Uncertainty, Complex Oscillation, and the iconic Sequential Voltage Source.

Part One: The Modulators (The Brain)
In a true Easel style setup, the Tokyo Tape Music Center 5-Step Sequencer acts as the brain. While most modern sequencers favor 4-8-16-32 steps, the 5-step limitation is actually a creative superpower.

About TONYLIGHT:
'I’ve used a lot of synths over the years but this one is something different… it’s a strange instrument. It’s small, much smaller than it appears in photos: it is part synth, part drum machine, part multi-track sequencer. I’m still figuring it all out but initial impressions are that it’s very unpredictable and slightly unstable… but in a good way.'"

Characterful Sequences, simple changes - ON ANY SYNTH

video upload by Hazel Mills

"…ok, any synth with a sequencer 😉.

Marvelling over the synths out there that have fancy sequencer functions to keep sequences evolving and spontaneous (probability, punch-in effects etc) got me thinking. What about the beautifully simple, primitive synths, particularly the older models, that don't have those functions? You can be so creative on them, and people are forgetting how to be. So here are 5 (of MANY - and please do share any others in the comments that you've discovered and love to use) things you can do to keep your sequences sounding characterful and stay interesting. Yes, on any synth.

The final jam is cut abruptly short. If you feel short changed, join my Patreon 👉👉👉 / hazelmills where I will post the full jam (and you'll find many other goodies, like behind the scenes vlogs, breakdowns, exclusive tracks and more).

FM Drift Demo - Ableton Move/Live Sound Pack by A Force Truly Evil

video upload by A Force Truly Evil

"Available here: https://sci-fiaudio.com/?product=fm-d...

FM DRIFT IS A DEEP EXPLORATION OF FM SYNTHESIS INSIDE ABLETON DRIFT, DELIVERING FOUR NEW POWERFUL FM INSTRUMENTS THAT RIVAL — AND SOMETIMES SURPASS — SYNTHS LIKE OPERATOR

FM Drift is a sound pack focused exclusively on FM synthesis within Ableton Drift, and designed to demonstrate that Drift’s FM engine is powerful, flexible, and very expressive.

Fully compatible with Ableton Live and Push.

FM Drift delivers four complete FM instruments, each built on a clear FM architecture and fully controlled via eight carefully designed macros. All the sounds in the pack have been created exclusively using these FM instruments (Ableton Instrument Racks built with Drift).

Drift’s FM capabilities are on par with classic synthesizers like Operator, and even surpass it in certain aspects.

We are going to talk about how this 2011 instrument turned out to be one of the most epic failures in music tech history, why it is massively underrated and we will try to dial in sounds that are on par with and sometimes even better than those of synths further up the food chain.

Make Noise Trio: 50 Combo Patches for Strega+0coast+0ctrl. No Talk Sound Demo. Live Jam/Performance

video upload by Anton Anru

"VOLTAGE IN SHADOW is a collection of 50 combo patches and patterns for a semi-modular system by Make Noise: 0-COAST + 0-CTRL + STREGA. It includes textures, basses, leads, drones, chords, percussion, and FXs.
💎 There is a wide range of timbres inside the pack: soft and bright, musical and experimental, harmonic and FX-like, cyclic and generative, slow and fast, analog- and digital-style, dry and atmospheric, clean and distorted.

📦 Get these patches: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/make...

🦠 This is one of the most complex works I’ve done. It required a lot of time and effort, but I also received huge pleasure and inspiration while working with such interesting and unique devices.
The patches turned out to be very fluid, dynamic, and non-static — largely due to the “alive” and sensitive nature of the synths. However, this also creates some difficulty when recreating the patches from images: even small changes in knob positions can affect the final result.

Entering NAMM 2026 and exploring the show floor
Discovering unique and boutique synthesizers
Meeting synth designers, musicians, and creators
Spontaneous conversations and gear reactions
Live improvised music at the Studiologic booth
Hands-on demos with next-gen music education tech
AI-assisted piano learning that tracks fingers and technique
Games, performance tools, and creative experiments
The energy, noise, inspiration, and madness of NAMM

Erica Synths Steampipe + Torso S4 // DAY 17 #jamuary2026

video upload by Dexba

"Perfectionism almost killed this video, and for a second, I forgot about the point of #jamuary I recorded, and recorded, and re-recorded, and a few days have passed, back and forth, because I care so much about this sound, this vibe, this balance.
I am not 100% satisfied, but I have to let it go, because otherwise I know for sure I will start to hate these chords, I will have to tweak the sounds once again, I will change the video, and so on.
But I do love the resulting vibe, and I will try my best to bring variations on this theme in some live scenario, maybe with a different controller instead of the OPXY (which I am only using because it has midi via 3.5mm jack and... an audible metronome, I am looking at you, Torso)
I hope you'll like it, now this jam is free to run wild on the internet 🧡"

Fred's Lab Tooro Custom Patches [Bank 1] by synth_nyc

via synth_nyc

"I’m pleased to inform you that Fred’s Lab just released my 50 Tooro Custom Patches [Bank 1]. You can listen to them in high resolution (24bit 96kHz PCM WAV masters, FLAC encoded) on my site (optimized for Chrome on MacOS and Windows):
https://synthnyc.com/index.php/album/freds-lab-tooro-custom-patches-bank-1/

or in low resolution on my bandcamp:
https://synthnyc.bandcamp.com/album/freds-lab-tooro-custom-patches-bank-1

All recorded at 24bit 96kHz PCM on UAD Apollo X hardware with mostly UAD FX.

All patches have been created from scratch using my TouchOSC bidirectional editor for the Tooro: https://vimeo.com/1148477983

Most patches have MW, Velocity, AT and PB configured.

All patches have their volume normalized, so there is no audio jumping from going to one patch to the next.

All patches have been named, though you will need an editor that supports this Tooro feature, or you can simply see it using SYSEX Librarian.

As usual, I’ve tried to highlight what I think is unique about the Tooro. I particularly like the Shaper (analog) filter which I think blends beautifully with the digital oscillators.
Also the LFOs AM mode is quite interesting when combined with a LFO Rise value.

This synth has a lot of (strong) character; like the Modal 002 and Super 6 to give an example of hybrid synths with (strong) character (IMHO); but sounds completely different.

I hope you’ll enjoy those 50 Tooro Custom Patches as much as I’ve enjoyed programming them.

They are available for purchase on Fred’s Lab website: https://fredslab.net/shop/shop-front.php"

Pro-One + SH-101 + Leploop + Edge = Jamuary Jamalog (take 2)

video upload by Infin-D

"Vintage synths, meet contemporary synths. The Leploop clocks everything, with clock division by the Mofenseef Pocket Clock-it. There's a resonant arpeggio on the SH-101, but the real star here is the Sequential Circuits Pro-One and its gnarly filter (also getting pitch CV from the Leploop). It's gets pretty noisy, but I like it noisy. Delay is added by the Korg NTS-1 MK II, mixed on the Yamaha KM802.

Recorded live on the Zoom L6, audio normalized in Audacity.
