Buchla 200 Defect Processor 289
video upload by Memetune Studio
"A self playing patch on the Buchla 200 - using the astonishing Sputnik Defect Processor - which I am just learning how to use
It is a dual stereo audio processor and sound source based around the open-platform FV-1 reverb chip from Spin Semiconductor. However the FV-1 can be programmed to do lots more than reverb - you can create stereo delays, feedback loops and FM oscillators, frequency shifters, phasers, filters - basically any time-based effect, all with CV control. New algorithms can be made with a developer kit then stored on EPROM and loaded into the Buchla 289 Defect module
This one has the original set of 16 algorithms but I have a spare set of EPROMS that holds newly developed reverbs and delays based on the classic 224 early 80s algos by modwiggler maxl0rd (a very nice person because he sent me them for the cost of postage)
This module is a very interesting addition to my 200 series system and I look forward to exploring its potential in more depth"
Paradise 😇 (Moog Minitaur // Waldorf Streichfett // Roland S1 // Volca Beats // Mininova // NDLR)
video upload by 2-Minute Warning
"An unexpected impromptu performance with the same setup as my previous video, hope you'll enjoy it! ❤️
The NDLR is sequencing with:
Drone track: the Moog Minitaur (BASS)
Pad track: the Waldorf Streichfett (PADS)
Motif-1 track: the Roland S1 (ARP)
Motif-2 track: the Roland S1 (ARP)
The DRUMS are coming from the Korg Volca Beats and the LEAD is being played in real-time on the Novation Mininova.
00:00 Intro
01:07 Improvised Solo
02:40 Bridge
03:14 Outro
A couple of tricks I used here:
I used the STUTTER EFFECT of the Volca Beats as a delay here on only one voice (not the master bus). First it's on the Open Hi-Hat and then swapped to the Closed Hi-Hat (creating a sixteenth note rhythm without changing pattern)
I'm using one of the NDLR's LFO (Square wave) to modulate the octave of the PADS.
I've used the hidden CHORUS of the S-1 synth to create the wide ARP 😉"

Synth Spotting : Rabbit Trap - Official Trailer | Starring Dev Patel and Rosy McEwen
video upload by Magnolia Pictures & Magnet Releasing
"In theaters September 12.
http://rabbittrapfilm.com/
Seeking new inspiration and a fresh start, married musicians Daphne (Rosy McEwan) and Darcy (Dev Patel) move to the Welsh countryside to finish their new record. While collecting audio samples, Darcy inadvertently creates a field recording of mysterious sound never before heard by human ears. The discovery renews Daphne’s creative energy, but as the echoes of her music bleed into the surrounding landscape, ancient and malevolent woodland forces are disturbed. One day, a stranger arrives on their doorstep. The couple initially embraces the stranger, who helps them navigate and understand their new environment, but Darcy grows suspicious of his obsession. As jealousy and paranoia infect the makeshift family, the line between reality and myth begins to blur.
Starring Dev Patel, Rosy McEwen, Jade Croot
Directed by Bryn Chainey"

Anyone ID the white system that looks like a cross between EMS, Digisound, and Maplin/ETI? I'm guessing DIY.

The Prophet VS was the last synthesiser to be released under the Sequential Circuits name. After the takeover by Yamaha in 1987, the following synthesisers were released under the Yamaha name.
Here is a demo track only made with the Sequential Prophet VS vector synthesizer from the year 1986. I use only self programmed sounds and the internal arpeggiator.
Sequential Circuits' last synthesiser in the 1980s was the Prophet VS, a hybrid synthesiser that was launched in 1986. It was the last synthesiser developed by Sequential Circuits before the takeover by Yamaha.
The Prophet VS was a digital synthesiser that differed from the company's previous analogue models. It was based on vector synthesis, a technique that made it possible to mix between different waveforms to create complex and versatile sounds. Although the Prophet VS was a digital synthesiser, it included a number of features that set it apart from other digital synthesizers of its time, such as its ability to change and manipulate sounds in real time.

Deuxd - Stereo Cross-Modulation VCF for Eurorack
video upload by Mehr Music Machines
"Deuxd (DUDE) is a dual filter that encourages stereo audio-rate modulation, experimentation and can easily be configured in number of ways.
• 2 Completely Independent LP/HP VCFs
• True stereo VCF with global cutoff control + offset per channel
• Mono to stereo signal processor
• Stereo to mono signal processor
• Variable width bandpass filter with dual resonant peaks
• Freaky feedback machine with 2 flavors of overdrive and FM
• Stereo pingable-thing
• Dual FM Oscillator / Drone
Audio Input 1 (left side) is normalled to Audio input 2 (right side). This let's you easily process 1 signal with two separate filters. Audio 1 is also normalled to FM input 2. To break either connection, simply patch a cable into the respective input jacks. Similarly, Audio input 2 is normalled to FM input 1. This means that each signal input is ready to frequency modulation the opposite side's filter cutoff. (pre XFM)
The top Frequency controls (top right and top left) act as the primary cutoff for each side's filler. Use the global Cutoff (large knob top center) to offset the position of both filter's cutoff position at the same time. The global cutoff control can be used in one of two modes: SYNC - This will change the filter's cutoff of both sides in parallel with one another. OPPOSE: when switched to Oppose, the right side filter will receive inverted control voltage from both the large cutoff knob and signal patched into the Cutoff jack.
When using the Sum (mono) output, you can switch between two flavors of diode clipping (Dirty and Filthy) :)
For bandpass operation, switch one side to High-pass and the other side to Lowpass (results change depending on which side is LP/HP) patch a signal into either filter's audio input, then patch the output the starting filter to the input of the other filter. You can now pull your audio from either the 2nd filter’s output or the SUM output for added harmonics.
The X-mod knob is hardwired, this circuit isolates the output from each side, sends one signal to the cutoff of the opposite side, and visa versa. (post XFM)
For dual pinging fun, patch a slow moving square wave into the audio inputs. the resonance controls should be at about 10:00, just before self oscillation. You will get different results depending on how the internal FM circuits are set. also experiment with pinging while in dual resonant peak bandpass config."
Erica Synths Introduces New Elektor Formant DIY Modular Synth
sound demo video upload by Erica Synths
"Since Erica Synths originated as a company that originally developed DIY kits for Eurorack modular synthesizers, we want to keep the spirit of DIY synths alive and besides our mki x es.EDU DIY series, we went full in, and set out to develop a contemporary, DIY-friendly and extended version of the Elektor Formant synthesizer, originally published as a DIY kit in Elektor Magazine late 70-ties. In collaboration with Harald Antes of haraldswerk.de we developed a modular system based on Elektor Formant designs and added several modules to take its functionality to next level

Maniac/Michael Sembello (Circuit Tracks Version)
video upload by Guinan
"Feeling a yearning for a bit of LinnDrum action I loaded up a bunch of samples and it occurred to me to try this song - a bit of a musical 'guilty pleasure' as it has such a distinctive rhythm. I put the song on, donned my legwarmers and had a bit of a 'spin' around the room to the track in my best 'Flashdance' impression. Straight away it became apparent it shouldn't be possible to do it on the Tracks as it has too many tracks. Bass, electric piano chords, arpeggio, melody...and a distinctive 80's guitar solo! Not to be deterred I shrank it down as much as I could and used the layering and extra voices hacks I've talked about elsewhere * and what you hear is the end result.
It was a fun challenge and I hope you enjoy the end result. All you hear was programmed into a single Circuit Tracks and played 'live' just recording the audio outs.
More details for synth nerds
The excellent @CaptainPikant had a great video breaking down how the rhythm track was constructed so I largely followed this guide.
• MANIAC - The most INSANE drum pattern of t... [below]
BPM 155bpm
Synth 1 - mono bass synth
Synth 2 - 'piano'ish patch playing chords, arepeggio and melody lines (at different velocities/ranges)
Drum 1- LM1 bass drum
Drum 2 - LM1 snare and sidestick
Drum 3 - LM1 hihats and combined HH and fake guitar (see below)
Drum 4 - LM1 cowbell and clap
The 'guitar' is faked I'm sorry. My lead guitar skills are not up to this (I did try!) and my friendly local 'shredder' was busy. I used instead the Native Instruments Electric Sunburst plug in instrument to fake a short solo and drenched it in guitar effects. I recorded to 4 bar loops with the hihat pattern duplicated along with them and then triggered the samples at the right moment on the hihat track."
MANIAC - The most INSANE drum pattern of the '80s | Drum Patterns Explained
video upload by Captain Pikant
"The drum pattern of Michael Sembello's 'Maniac' is positively insane. It's what you'd get if you made a Synthwave drum track, decided it wasn't complex enough, glitched it up with a tiny dash of Aphex Twin and then put a second drum track on top of that with over a dozen Tom fills for good measure. Pure '80s maximalism with two of the most iconic drum sounds of that era."

Sweet Dreams is a brilliant example of how a deceptively simple drum beat (if done right) can make a song hit even harder. We're going to recreate it on a modern sequencer so you can follow along and use those techniques in your own beats. Milk bottles and cows on fake grass included. As a bonus The Intern will pick apart the iconic synth riff :)"
