"VERY RARE SOVIET-ERA 3-VCO with LFO ANALOG MONOPHONIC SYNTH. The Aelita synth was manufactured in 1985 by the Murom radio plant in the former Soviet Union. 24 db moog-type resonant filter, a voice unison function (which doubles its sound to six voices), independently detunable oscillators (with a central global tuning control), LFO and convenient push button timbre, register, and oscillator omission (in the mixer section - great for live playing) housed in a solid aluminum and steel case with its idiosyncratic folding control panel."

Circuitbenders - Mods for Roland SH-101

Fortunately these are DIY mods, and not actual circuit bends.

"The mods consist of:
Filter Overdrive – This knob drives the VCO or external audio source into the filter stage causing the VCF to overdrive and distort. The knob is wired with the maximum drive as fully counter-clockwise and the clean sound filly clockwise. In this respect it could be called a Filter Cleaning control but it is wired this way to give the best response curve to the control. This control will boost the output of the 101 a huge amount so be careful.

PWM waveform source – Normally with the PWM set to LFO modulation you only have the option of using the triangle waveform as a modulation source. This rotary switch allows you to set the PWM modulation source to other waveforms independently of the main LFO setting. The options are Triangle, Square, Random, Noise, Sub-1 and Sub-2. The Sub waveforms are actually sourced from the VCO. Changing the setting of the sub octave switch will alter the sound with these sources.

VCF CV input – This jack socket on the top left of the case will accept an external voltage to control the filter cutoff. The suggested input is 0-5V but it can probably take a couple more volts if your Midi-CV converter can deliver them" and more.

Hammond Condor

via this auction

"This is the Condor synthesizer made by Hammond in the early 70's. It is very rare and hard to find information on. I read hendrix may have even used one. It has an input for a contact microphone that is for a wind instrument. I do not have the contact mic. The unit powers up and does not appear to have any issues but i cannot test it any further, see the photo for the condition, the only other one i have ever seen sold for almost $400. It has slider controls for vibrato, intensity and rate, treble, bass, sensitivity, tone and volume. It also has organ type switches for repeat, attack ,tremolo/vibrato, sub-octave,dynamute, fuzz, oboe, sitar, natural amplify, sopano sax, tuba, oboe, english horn, cello, clarinet and a few others. There are also some adjustments on the bottom of the synth."

KORG MS50 ANALOG Modular

images via this auction

"1978 built in Japan. It is cool on its own and even crazier coupled with an MS20 or MS10, it was designed as an expander to these, although I’ve read it has a better build quality than the MS10 or 20. Being FULLY Modular it is very versatile and can be used for FX, processing audio and control voltages, etc it even has a great ring modulator. You can process guitars, other instruments, mics, your voice etc. You can create stereo pingponging, tremolo, all sorts. Have a read up on them, good reviews, see sequencer.de.

It is a 240v ac 50/60hz Australian plug end. Serial number 190503

The Korg MS-50 - modular in design and at the height of the MS-series synthesizers. This keyboard-less expander type module is completely patchable and uses Korg's Hz/V type of CV and Gate for control with other synths like the MS-20. There are lots of knobs and patch points on this one... The MS-50 is still a single VCO monophonic analog beast but offered more patch ability and power than any other MS synth. Other features include a ring modulator, voltmeter and sample & hold. It was also designed to complement the SQ-10 sequencer. It has been used by The Chemical Brothers."

KORG SQ10 Analog Sequencer

images via this auction

"This Sequencer is excellent, more flexible than you may first think. You can make bizarre sequences with it and its mega fun to use. Made in Japan 1979. With original manual !!!!

The sequence can be any number between 1-12 steps long (24 if you couple A and B). It has three separate channels, so you can get 3 sequences running at once! Run three synths with a different sequence each, or use a channel to sequencer the filter of a synth etc etc. You can even sequence the speed of its clock so it speeds up and slows down as you want, it can drift out of time with your other gear the reset at what ever point you like so you’re back in sync!! It also has portamento for slides and an output for each step! And more…

It is a 240v ac 50/60hz Australian plug end machine. Serial number 151385

BLURB:
A very good old-school sequencer from Korg. Designed for the MS series synthesizers and using Korg's CV / Gate control the SQ-10 sequencer can really surprise you with some groovy basslines. Use the knobs to adjust and build up a sequence. Sure it's limited to 12 steps (with a max of 24) but when you hook that up to your MS-10, MS-20 or MS-50 you can get some pretty cool TB-303 like stuff happening. Because the SQ-10 outputs CV (Control Voltage) it can be connected to the Oscillators, VCF filters or LFO's of your MS synths for even cooler tricks. Using a CV / Gate converter allows you to use the SQ-10 with other Roland, Moog, Sequential and even MIDI synthesizers. It's definitely a fun instrument which allows you to program basslines like they did back in the early days!"

KORG MS02 ANALOG Sequencer Interface CV

images via this auction and this auction.

"The Korg Interface MS-02 is designed for the purpose of connecting Korg MS-Series synthesizers with other synthesizers available throughout the world. [It] converts Korg’s Hertz/Octave to Volts/Octave and visa versa, making the sequencer compatible with other synths such as Roland, Arp Moog Sequential etc. These work very well and the pitch tracks nicely (I tested the SQ10 sequencing the MS50 and a Roland synth and the tuning was spot on). This sophisticated signal processor greatly enhances the performance possibilities of the MS-Series.

Among presently available music synthesizers, there are two different types of control system used for the VCO (voltage controlled oscillator) and EG (envelope generator). One of these systems is used by Korg and Yamaha; the other is employed by every other synthesizer manufacturer. The Korg MS-02 provides you with a way to change the control signals of one system into the control signals used in the other system. In this way, it acts as an interface so that any two synthesizers can be used together, provided that the synthesizers are equipped with the conventional input and output jacks for control voltage and trigger or gate signals.

The MS-02 is ideal if you want to upgrade your synthesizer by adding on other synthesizer units having different kinds of keyboard control voltage and trigger signals. The built-in, fully adjustable log amp, anti-log amp, and trigger processor ensure complete system flexibility and compatibility between any presently voltage controlled synthesizer."

"This is a very rare ETI 4600 synthesizer and would suit a synth enthusiast or collector.
All knobs/switches present and faceplate mint!!
Powerful Analog machine 4 vcos (and the 4th has two outputs) !!! A matrix patch bay allows for incredible routing options, I’ve used this along side an ems synthi and it gives it a good run for its money. This thing is ultra fat and makes the craziest sound effects, mega sci-fi sounds with its inbuilt spring reverb. Absolutely unreal for sound effects!!

Electronically it has been professionally put together, I am told by the previous owner that the guys from fairlight built it from kit form. The cabinet isn’t the best and needs a tidy up or even nicer would be to rebuild it with an attractive timber. It comes with cabinet construction diagrams in the manual. The keyboard is missing some keys, but you can use generic organ keyboards with this machine (or what I was going to do is get rid of the keyboard and make a new cabinet as an expander module without keys).

These don’t show up often at all. Parts are still available and the manual shows in great detail how to build it, Do some research on this synth and you will find there is a lot you can do with it. Mod it or expand it etc. link

I recently did a full test on the synth with the following results:
Oscillator 1 - All Range settings, Tune, Free run, Shape and All waveforms tested and working.
Oscillator 2 - All Range settings, Tune, Free run, Shape and All waveforms tested and working.
Oscillator 3 - Intermittent, was working and now isn’t.
Oscillator 4 - All Range settings, Tune, Free run, Shape and All waveforms tested and working.
Oscillator 4, Second output - All waveforms, including noise selection and Controller tested and working.
Noise generator - Pink and white tested and working.
Mixer 1 - Tested and working.
Mixer 2 - Tested and working.
Mixer 3 - Tested and working.
Mixer 4 - Tested and working.
Mixer 5 - Tested and working.
Filter 1 - Tested and working.
Filter 2 - Tested and working.
Joystick - Tested and working in both planes, range pot also working.
Keyboard Control – Sweep, Glide, Transient, Modulation and Tune tested and working.
Keyboard – Tested but not tracking 100% (needs calibrating)
Equalizer – All five bands tested and working.
Reverb - Tested and working.
Main Output - Tested and working, no crackle upon turning volume pot.
Headphone Output – Works, but is very crackly upon turning volume pot.
External Inputs 1 and 2 - Tested and working.
Amplifiers 1 and 2 - Tested and working.
Controller – Level is working but I’m not able to get any change with modulation.
Envelope control - Tested and working.
Transient 1 - Tested and working.
Transient 2 - Tested and working.

Its heavy !! weighs 20kg unpacked. Allow 4kg for packing (I will pack it very well)
The synth could be sent without keyboard and cabinet to reduce weight if seller prefers
Approximate Size (packed) 105x45x50cm"

Apologies for all the videos going up, but as the saying goes, when it rains, it pours. I'm noticing that some YouTube vids are playing choppy on my system. I thought I'd throw this tip out for anyone that might be seeing the same. So... If a video is slow, click on the title of the post and watch it in the resulting page.
