Future Sound Systems DC1 & Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1 Demo

YouTube via futureimage

"Demo of the Future Sound Systems Decade Counter DC1 triggering the Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1.

DC1 available here: http://www.futuresoundsystems.co.nr

Model shown in video is in Eurorack format and has a highly limited pink-acrylic/black text 3mm acrylic panel.

The module sequentially counts through ten outputs (this can be cut down by patching a step output to the reset input), which can then be used to trigger envelopes, etc. in a modular system. Here, the module is used to trigger the snare drum of an Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1."

Vox | Continental / Jaguar / Corinthian / 300 / Jennings J70

YouTube via serenities. via kidtesla.
"Finally a free day (Queensday) and some time too make a (very) short impression about the differences of sound in the Vox organ family.

Unfortunately the Super Continental couldn't be part of the video, it's still on the working table.

Ofcourse there is so much to show / hear in the differences, the effects, the individual drawbar changes, the presets, percussions, vibrato, reverb, bass, sustain etc. But this is to much to put in a video of max. 10 min.

I might do some documentary thing in the future that will contain much more information. In meanwhile, enjoy these sounds!" Combo Organ

Made in Sheffield

Toss you guitar...

"The best post-punk music in Europe was electronic music & for five years the best electronic music came from Sheffield.
Made in Sheffield documents the evolution of the Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, Heaven 17 & ABC, who emerged from Sheffield's music scene in the late 70's. Their dream was to destroy rock music. The result was the creation of some of the most influential sounds in pop music.

Rare archive footage, soundtrack & exclusive interviews with the famous, almost famous & not famous at all pull you directly into the Sheffield music scene complete with fanzines, nightclubs, weird bands, DIY record labels & all the ambition & creativity that made that time so special.

Loaded with endearing moments & humour, it captures the essence of the seldom portrayed aftermath of Punk & the spirit of the early 80's British New Wave movement.

Featuring: Phil Oakey , Joanne Catherall & Susan Sully (Human League), Martyn Ware & Ian Craig Marsh (original members and founders of the Human League & Heaven 17), Jarvis Cocker (Pulp),
Chris Watson (Cabaret Voltaire), Stephen Singleton (Vice Versa/ABC)
John Peel and many other faces and bands that made this scene unique.

some made it and kept it
some made it and lost it
some got lost along the way

running time 52 mins"

Emu SP1200 Display Upgrade Demo

YouTube via Gazdatronik
"Emu E-mu SP1200 SP-1200 with upgraded display- no longer LCD but a Noritake blue-green vacuum florescent display.

Sorry for the bad contrast my kodak is terrible even when taking a still picture.

I get the sample that I want in a PC and edit just the right way and put that on any old mp3 player. Get a rough feel for how long your sample that you're working with is and set that for the Sample Length in the SP (up to 2.5 seconds). Then it's really simple as you can see to just cue the sample into the threshold record. In the past I've had this SP1200 hooked to an old Macintosh in order to dump sounds via MIDI, but I think this is far more convenient with less work, time and hardware."

Steim Needs Your Help!

via Tom of Music Thing

"Steim - the Dutch folks who make the Cracklebox and lots more besides - need folks to send emails to the Dutch government, to prove that making electronic music isn't just of interest to a 'niche audience'"

via STEIM:
"Things are not well at STEIM. We are in the danger of losing our structural funding from the government, based on a review from the advisor board which called us 'closed and only appealing to a niche audience'. The outlook isn't exactly bleak, but at the moment our future is unclear."

Click here to help. I did. There is an electronic form you can fill out if you do not have time to actually mail a letter. It took me 5 minutes. Here's what I wrote if it helps:

"Hi, I run http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/. My site and my reader base consists of musicians, technology professionals, artists and more. Since I started the site in 2005 I have had over four million page views. I receive over 10,000 page views a day. These are actual people, not web bots. I have featured numerous posts on the Cracklebox and DIY projects. My reader base and myself value what Stein offers to the community. Many professional developers and electrical engineers are greatly influenced by the DIY community. In a sense it is where interest and careers are built in exploring various technologies and techniques. STEIM nourishes this either directly via the projects they work on or indirectly via the exposure of their projects on sites similar to mine. Young potential engineers may take their first steps after finding interest in what groups like STEIM have to offer. It has come to my attention that STEIM is in danger of losing their structural funding. Please do not let this happen."

Thanks to Tom of Music Thing for the heads up.

Miku Weirdness! VOL 01 (Vocaloid 2 - Hatsune Miku) (ボーカロイド2)

YouTube via KawaiFS630. For those that don't know what Vocaloid is, I created a Vocoloid label with this post. Click it for some more info in prior posts.
"IMPORTANT: About the "lyrics": are pure randomly (Excepting Du-di-da!). If you see a strange word, please send me a message, please :)

An small experiment. With random syllables, I put Hatsune Miku on a songs you can´t imagine...(Some, yes, but other songs, no xD) with aleatory hardware-keyboards on all songs, you can heard a Korg M1 on one, a Casio SA-1 in another...

The list (In order):
- Battle Garega level 1
- Lolo 2 in stage music
- Kid Icarus underworld
- Wave Race Dolphin Park
- Lufia 2 town
- Sparkster level 1
- Starwing Corneria
- Ristar Du-di-da!
- Dragon Ball Cha la head cha la
- Dragon Ball GT Ending

Of course, this is a small joke. I like these songs, and this is a funny homage to these authors that put his songs on anime/videogames

Enjoy! :D"

Blacet DF Kit Special: Last Call

11 kits left: http://www.blacet.com/

"Our DF2420 Dual Manual Filter Kit is on sale for the rock bottom price of $69! This kit originally sold for almost twice this price, so this is a great bargain. Also, it's a good place to start if you want to try your hand at kit building (see one builder's blog).

The filters are the same type as the Filthy Filtre, giving you maximum filter versatility and outrageous bite without the voltage control feature."

"Two of our high quality state variable filters in one handy package. Just the ticket for applications where voltage control is not required, such as formant filtering, basic percussion sounds or as a super tone control. Also useful as a clock source in 'extreme' feedback mode!

Use the filters separately, or with one input feeding both filters (mixed or separate outputs), or with two inputs mixed to one output. No extra mixers needed!

Our 'Phase Uncertainty' circuit adds some nice animation when the 'one input' mode is used!"

Vote for Jamster!!!

David C. Lovelace, the artist who has brought us classic Synth toon, The Packrat, these brilliant synth videos, the retro synth band Parallax, and is the man behind the majority of the hideous ball-breaking artwork behind Metsonix products, needs your help!!!

"My Garmin Garage 3D Retarded Animal Baby (hamster) avatar entry is a finalist and doing pretty well, but I still need your vote to win.

VOTE HERE!

Scroll down & select "Jamster", and vote. If I win, the prize is this: thousands of Garmin navigator users will be able to download a 3D version of Hamster to use as a little avatar, driving along with you on the maps 'n such. Pretty neat!"

How cool would that be. If you vote you get to know you were part of the Garmin, synth tie in. Go vote now!!! I did and it literally took two seconds.
