"One possibility proposed by Digital Performer is the conversion of an audio file, mono or stereo, but also in midi track, thereby to score.
A handy tool, even if not perfect, can be very useful for performing countermelodies with instruments or synthesizers on an audio track. Here, for example, from a melodic line made with a Buchla 200e, convert audio-midi is played by Arturia Origin.

misa kitara digital guitar palm muting

YouTube Uploaded by misadigital on Mar 21, 2011

"http://www.misadigital.com - for preorder and more info

my personal opinion is that a true digital guitar is not just about "triggering notes" - it's about controlling sound. it's about making the instrument feel like it was designed FOR synthesis, instead of the other way around. playing guitar involves complex interactions, and synthesizers have complex parameters. the misa kitara meshes these two concepts together not with overly complex algorithms, but with an (IMHO) elegant solution that works with the core concepts in synthesis.

all sound in the video is generated by the kitara only."

"Wish You Were Here" cover on the Eigenharp Alpha

"A few weeks ago Greg from Orange Tree Samples was so kind to send me a pre-release of his upcoming Evolution Acoustic Guitar - Steel Strings (EAG) product (http://www.orangetreesamples.com/evolution-acoustic-guitar-steel-strings).

I set it up so that the first six percussion keys of the Alpha correspond to the strings of an actual guitar for which I play the chords on the upper split of the keyboard with the EAG strum instrument. The lower split of the main keyboard also uses EAG but with the lead instrument to play the melody line. I also use a foot pedal to sustain notes and chords when needed.

I'm really amazed by how natural the combination of the Eigenharp Alpha together with Evolution Acoustic Guitar feels. You can strum, pick, release chords to play muted strums, do hammer-ons and pull-offs, ... etc.

I'll be looking at an even tighter integration to correctly play up and down stroke samples based on the direction by which you're strumming over the percussion keys ... stay tuned."

Alesis Andromeda plucked string and wind instrument sounds by CoolColJ
"Attempting some Physcial Modelling sounds :)
just some Lexicon chamber reverb to add space

Bare in mind they are very basic - not much modulation going one for expressions etc
But they serve as a nice template for further experimentation
That hard sync sound of the A6 can do a lot - I used it for these patches and some piano emulations

I own a Yamaha VL-1 although I haven't done too much on it
Although I think the analog tone of the Andromeda feels a bit more cosy :D

The click/thump on the string attack is a bit annoying, I can't seem to remove it no matter what I do Slower engine optimiser settings don't help much"

OP-1 Live Performance

YouTube Uploaded by djthomaswhite on Mar 20, 2011

"Okay, this one deserves a long description. I wanted to test the FM Radio out. I figured I should learn how to sample at the same time. I knew the drum sampler has 12 seconds sampling time and can cut the 12 second sample up with map points to play pieces of it across the keyboard. So, I turned on the FM radio as the record input and found the Soul Man song playing on a station. I recorded 12 seconds of it. I then mapped certain points of it to keys in the drum sampler. Then I started the Pattern Sequencer so I could sequence the samples into a 4 beat loop. Once I had 4 Pattern Sequencer tracks of the sample playing I recorded it to Track 4 of the Tape.

Then I needed a back beat. Dialed up the Drum Sampler, made a 16-step beat sequence with Pattern Sequencer and recorded it to Track 1 of the Tape.

Decided to then try the internal Microphone to see if the Tape could be used like a plain old 4-Track recorder. Yep. I recorded myself singing some Soul Man stuff to Track 2 of the Tape and overdubbed around 4 takes. Overdub is always on so you simply have to let it loop to layer your voice or other instruments. NOTE: Could make an excellent guitar looper by the way.

Track 4 of the Tape would be a second set of my vocals, this time with some sustained notes, overdubbed to thicken my cheap voice.

That was the basis if what I planned in total. But my finger accidentally hit one of the keys when I was in Tape mode. The drum sequencer was still on playing the drum pattern. Hmmm... so I changed the drum kit to the FM sample slot where the Soul Man samples were. The drum pattern made the 4 beat loop repeat every beat. I added Punch FX to filter this loop sound and assigned the G-Force motion sensor to control the filter Frequency of the Punch FX.

Add it all up with some ridiculous dance moves, arm pumping and live tweaking in my living room and you have this video. I knew this OP-1 would be cool. But I am starting to think it may be a game changer for me and my music process. Research continues. Back to the lab for more experiments..."

YAMAHA CS-15 SN 5409

"This is a very versatile 37 key 3 octave monophonic synthesiser with higher pitch priority. It has 2 independent tuneable VCO’s producing Sine, Square or Triangle waveforms with each VCO having their own Mixer and VCF-VCA channels. There is also an in built noise generator and inputs & outputs for control volts & triggers for both VCO’s. There are controls for portamento, pitch bend & brilliance and master volume, a headphone output and high & low level audio outputs. It is a U.K. model and runs on mains voltage which is selectable for 110,130,220 or 240 volts at 50/60 Hz. (see photo No. 8)...

The non-standard silver “D-Type” connector on the back panel was fitted by me as part of a project whilst studying electronics at college. I fitted an interface to the synthesiser to emulate key presses which was driven by my own sequencer software running on a Sinclair ZX Spectrum. This modification did not involve any changes to the original circuitry and I subsequently removed this interface. I left the “D-Type” connector on the back panel as I didn’t have a suitable blanking plate but there are now no internal connections to this socket. The four mounting pillars for the interface board (you might just about see them on 9th photo) were also left in place for same reason.

I have the original owners manual for the synth and an original official Yamaha service manual which contains 28 pages of full circuit diagrams, parts list, servicing and calibration information and a separate enlarged (approx 3ft. X 2ft) foldout full circuit diagram. This manual is probably more rare than the synthesiser and may be worth a fair bit on its own, however it seems like it makes sense to bundle it with the synth."

"Atomolabs Medussa Bass Synth/Sequencer

This is an interesting sequencing synthesizer. I have had it for a while, but I am not using it anymore, so I am selling to save up for somthing else I want.

You do have to program the patterns to use this synth.. It is very simple to use, but requires some patience and skill. It would be good to use in live performances or in the studio.

Here is the manual! :)

* At the bottom there is a row of four buttons, pressing the "+>" button, you can find the parameter you want to edit (pattern number, tempo, midi sync, pattern edit or save). (This is a 16-step sequencer.)
* In pattern edit, select a step with "+" or "-" and press "OK"
* Then use the pitch knob to change the pitch of the step. Use "0" to put a rest on the step. Press OK to continue for other steps in the pattern.
* Use the other knobs to customize the sound just like any synth.
* Can be triggered by external MIDI.
* Runs on 120v AC, power cord included.

Also in the series on the site and around the world is the Mantis, dronescape sequencer, the book of sound, the moth, the growling insect, the bug, the octa-hedra, walking stick, pendulum translator and others. The sound is phenomenol and continues to amaze us. It is a sonic symphony of nasty and grimy sweetness, endless layers of sound possibilities emenating from High quality OSC originally based on high tech speech synthesis. Seemingly random bits can be rediscovered time and time again and then there are those moments that you will most likely never rediscover. Endlessly captivating, this piece WILL provide sounds that you will not find in other synthesizers and will astonish you every time you turn it on.

This particular piece features four patchable knobs, and a twelve point magnetic patchbay. This allows you to determine function and provides tons of flexibility. In addition, two more knobs (global knob control and power kill) , glowing lamp power indicator , 2 folktek button/switches for activate and freeze mode sections, reset, 1/4" output, basic manual of function and layout. You'll be able to cipher through waveforms and textures with extreme sensitivity in thousands of ways. Waveforms (individual, or multiple layers) can be captured and maintained, often intermodulating in beautiful and/or disturbing ways. Super sensitive knobs let you filter through tons of sounds and glitchscapes. Albums are waiting to be created here as the sound is quite different from anything else you'll find.."
