Rainger FX - Snare Trap Drum Machine with Pedals and Synths

video upload by Sound Isles

"From the creator of wild musical devices Rainger FX, comes a wild and interactive drum machine that you play through, with, and for. Play beats manually, customize rhythm and sounds, sync it to other devices, trigger individual drums with controllers and modular synth gates. The Snare Trap inspires new rhythmic ideas and brings the jams. Here I explore its sounds and connectivity while destroying it with fuzz pedals, and distant modulated reverbs.

Thank you Rainger FX.

Other pedals featured:
Hypersleep - Electronic Audio Experiments
T-60 Analog Modulator - Demedash Effects
Patchulator 9000 - Boredbrain
~900 Fuzz - Fairfield
Maybe - Mask Audio Electronics
Rooms - Death by Audio"

"The Rainger FX Snare Trap is a powerful groove machine in a small form factor, perfect for quickly building rhythmic backing tracks in your pedal board or your desktop setup. Combining analog and digital synthesis techniques, the Snare Trap features a bass drum, snare drum, and hi-hat, with various timbral controls over each. The big rubber pad is multifunctional, and can be used for either tap tempo or triggering snare drum fills and bursts of noise. Dedicated effects including delay and a filter are easily accessible via the front panel, allowing you to adjust timbres in real time, while intuitive edit controls facilitate quick adjustments to your groove patterns on the fly.

If you want to connect the Snare Trap to other drum machines or clock sources, it offers analog trigger inputs for each of the three drum instruments. This little groove box can also send its own clock signal via the Sync Out port, bringing any other instruments that receive analog clock signals into step with the Snare Trap.

The Snare Trap completes the conversation with the rest of your setup by featuring an input port which allows you to bring in your own line level sources from guitars, synths, or other pedals in your chain, with adjustable Hi/Lo gain settings to accomodate your source. A dedicated mix knob controls the blend between the input signal and the groove, allowing you to dial in the perfect balance for your one-person band!

SNARE TRAP FEATURES

New Systems Instruments Releases Inertia, a “Universal Movement Simulator”

video upload by New Systems Instruments

https://nsinstruments.com/modules/inertia.html

"New Systems Instruments announced today that Inertia is now shipping and available. Inertia is a new take on a complex function generator. It models physical motion with analog electronics, adding a rise and fall "momentum" parameter to the more familiar rise and fall rate controls. This extra parameter radically expands on what a function generator can do, with the most obvious addition being lush, resonant filtering.

Inertia’s physical model produces exponential envelopes that are extremely natural, comparable to a vactrol ping but much more configurable. The inclusion of rise momentum gives an easy way to get an ADSR type signal from a gate input, with momentum adding a peak or accent to the initial rise. It has two types of output curves as well, with the second phase delayed from the first.

Unlike a traditional function generator, Inertia doesn’t generate LFOs by cycling its envelope. Instead, you just turn up the momentum until it self-oscillates. As an LFO, it has a useful skewed sine shape. It’s also very syncable, either with the trigger input or just by plugging another LFO into the input.

At audio rate, it makes an excellent VCO, tracking 5+ octaves. Plus it has a second interface mode that allows you to control the frequency and the skew independently, instead of having to fiddle with rise and fall to get a particular frequency and timbre. Skewed all the way to either side, Inertia is as bright as the best sawtooth wave.

Where this module really shines, however, is in use as a filter. It produces anything from subtle to squelch to glitchy scream, depending on how big you let the resonance get and—since it’s got a skew control—what waveshape you give to the resonant frequency. You can skew the resonance itself as well, making Inertia respond with different resonances to the rising and falling edges of an audio waveform. All of this makes Inertia into a filter with the same level of complexity and configurability as a complex oscillator.

The function generator space is pretty crowded in Eurorack, but Inertia is not just another DUSG clone. It stands out as a unique and capable implementation, giving you a huge variety of control curves, an excellent oscillator, and a wild and distinctive filter, all in a single module.

New Systems Instruments is a modular manufacturer located in the San Francisco Bay Area, focusing on creating new, analog designs based on different ways of thinking about music and synthesis.

Inertia retails at $329 USD."

Gotharman's Urano: STARGAZER-inspired Modular Synth Patch Demo #TTNM

video upload by THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Møffenzeef's open-source STARGAZER wavetable drone synth has intrigued me for a long time. So I tried to create a patch on my Gotharman Urano modular synthesizer inspired by it. Of course, if you want the real deal, you need to buy or build an actual Stargazer, but I was interested to see where I would end up with that challenge on Gotharman's Urano.

I patched two wavetable oscillators into a lowpass filter module, from there onwards to the Gotharman bit crusher effect, into another lowpass filter and at the end of the chain into a virtual distortion module. Since I only had nine knobs at my disposal on the Urano, I chose to toggle LFO modulation on and off via switches at the bottom, with LFO rates also being controlled by the parameter knobs. So dual knob assignments, like on the Benjolin. It's fun. The wavetables I used are from the user repository at https://waveeditonline.com. They're way less wild than on the original Stargazer, so I'll experiment some more on that front.

Versalife - Korg Mono/Poly Sample Pack | CONFORCE

video by Conforce

"Get samples & presets:https://gumroad.com/conforce/

Track: Versalife - Cyclical Pathway on 2020 Vision Recordings

About: I decided it was time for a new sample pack with the focus on my Mono/Poly synth, a wild analog beast of a synthesizer from the 80’s that has a very unique approach and set of features like no other. It doesn’t like to sound smooth or lush but likes to go into the snappy and fierce spectrum. The fast analog envelopes allow for very snappy sounds and good envelope filtering. With 4 oscillators it’s very powerful and has the ability to make real cutting bass sounds and thick chords. The FM and CrossMod section allow for very fresh sparkling and glitchy percussion sounds that enter kind of a modular sound spectrum. On top it has a powerful arpeggiator that allows for some real freakiness....
The MP is a real secret electro weapon that rattles like no other synth. An all in one in electro synth that covers the whole domain of sounds you need.

Now I give you a solid complete taster of what it’s like in the form of a very cool sample pack that contains some of my personal recordings and also custom recorded samples for the kit.

I hope you’re having fun with these in your daw, elektrons, korgs or tr8s’s!"

Lisa Bella Donna | Ascension

video by Moog Music Inc

"Sound designer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Lisa Bella Donna journeys through the world of analog sound with an arrangement of vintage and modern analog synthesizers in this exploration filmed in the Moog Sound Lab.

Inspired by live synthesizer performances of the 1970s, the inimitable synth sorceress integrates the classic Moog Synthesizer lllP with Moog One, Subsequent 37, Subsequent 25, and the complete Moog semi-modular family (Matriarch, Grandmother, Mother-32, DFAM, and Subharmonicon), highlighting their connectivity and the possibilities of personal orchestration.

'As a longtime electronic music composer and sound designer, I have always regarded my synthesizer studio as a personal 'sacred space.' A special place where I can be free and open to create whatever music that needs to vessel through in the moment. To explore the wild, wonderful wilderness of sound and synthesis. A place to find inspiration and to evoke artistic ascension. To create and to be playful in the process. I wanted to project a piece that expressed my happiness and gratitude to get to be creative with my friends and colleagues at Moog. It's always so much fun to bounce ideas and create a special atmosphere together, each time we have the opportunity to create these videos.' -Lisa Bella Donna

orpho - GLUT UND ASCHE | VACUUM TUBE LOW PASS FILTER | NEW EURORACK MODULAR MODULE

video by HOX808

Googlish:

"'GLUT UND ASCHE' is a double tube LOW-pass filter with adjustable distortion of the filter resonance. Each tube has a differential potentiometer that specifically influences the feedback path to the associated tube.

The circuit is consistently based on two tubes and offers real and unadulterated tube sound. Two ECF 80 are used. Transistors, ICs and SMD components have been omitted in favor of truthfulness.

'GLUT UND ASCHE' is a 'real thing' and it sounds like that. Wildly determined to drastically and energetically disrupt the audio material fed in through the signal input.

Of course, wonderfully organic gradients are also possible, provided you want to operate the filter in a solid and straightforward manner. "

Aquifex - Modular and OP-Z jam 11-23-20

SynthAddict

"Quick experiment with a tempo locked rhythm and a wild snare and off tempo arp. As the beat comes around they sync up, get a little wild, and sync up again. Fun to try but YMMV. :-)

Used some new modules including a Plaits clone, Gyrinx VCF (Synton Syrinx filter bank), Grids, and some classics like Morphagene and Clouds with various modulation bits. That WMD Geiger Counter is a noisy bugger, but fun."

Every Picnic needs a Synthi

Published on Apr 6, 2020 wutierson

"It was a special meeting, on September 2016, at Sonorámica Studio, somewhere in Mina Clavero/Traslasierra (Córdoba, Argentina), which included events along four days: courses on sound synthesis, production with electronic technology and live performances by Ernesto Romeo, Toni Gutiérrez and Sebastián Cirillo.
There were several classic and contemporary synthesizers, modular systems, sequencers and more, so on 10th September, at sunset and under the inspiring landscape of the mountains, the idea came out: since there were two EMS Synthi AKS units and one EMS VCS3 in the setup, the recreation of the magical scene was unavoidable. All of this happened, of course, off schedule. The composition was improvised at that moment with no previous rehearsal and taking as inspiration the magical essence of the environment, the wild and welcoming nature, the energy of the area, well-known for its frequent "sightings"… The EMS brought its organic sound and its futuristic and science fiction spirit and aesthetics to represent that moment perfectly. It was recorded live without any further additions. The sounds and melodies emerged from the top of the mountain, radiating their power to the valley, while the last sunbeams lightened the earth.
Unique and very special experience that was possible thanks to the love and passion of everyone who attended the meeting. This video and this theme remain as a memory of such a moment.

Antonio Gutierrez: EMS Synthi A
Sebastián Cirillo: EMS VCS3

Demo of the Ciat-Lonbarde Rollz-5+, Meng Qi PCB

Published on Jul 31, 2019 Dinorrific

Patch demo below.

"I recorded this over a year ago, and there's probably numerous errors in it. Let me know and I'll add corrections as we go!

Here's a brief introduction to Meng Qi's realization of the fantastic Ciat-Lonbarde Rollz-5. It's sort-of-a drum machine which produces strange and wonderful rhythms and timbres.

Meng Qi/Ciat-Lonbarde Rollz-5 Patches

Published on Apr 17, 2019

"Here's another awesome instrument I don't use nearly enough: Meng Qi's realization of the Ciat-Lonbarde Rollz-5, which I picked up from Modular Addict

This thing is awesome: 2 sets of Rollzer (3, 4, 5, and 6), 4 AV-Dogs, 2 Ultrasound Filters (with two inputs each), and 4 gongs. The instrument is unruly and chaotic - the odd rollz can't quite produce a repeatable pattern, and some of the even ones struggle, too!

The rhythmic lengths are designated by the capacitors in each set of rollz, so there's no knob to make things faster or slower. There's only the ability to patch between them and inject and react to new rhythms and pseudo-rhythmic sonic events. As a result, even something as 'predictable' as the gong, which should just act as a tom, can produce wild timbral variation when activated by an audio-rate input. Despite such simple ingredients, loops can be created that last longer than expected, and with more variation than a normal drum machine would offer.

It's not quite a PlumButter, but it's still quite remarkable."

The Mojave Desert Modular Experiment: Patrick Shiroishi

Published on Jul 15, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"In the Mojave Desert Modular Experiment, we worked with local artists to create modular systems suited to their own styles and workflows...despite the fact that none of them had ever used modular synths before. Each artist/group had two weeks to get to know their system and prepare a performance.

Experimental saxophonist Patrick Shiroishi is no stranger to peculiar sounds: his own free improvisations feature unbridled woodwind tones, often augmented with the use of effects pedals. Patrick's modular system, centered around a Make Noise Morphagene, was built to sample and mangle sax signals while acting as a semi-autonomous improvisational partner, co-creating webs of wild noise in response to his playing.

Come by our showroom to try out these systems for yourself, and keep an eye out for more results from the experiment each Monday this month! Read more about Patrick's system and get links to his music here: https://www.perfectcircuit.com/signal..."
