Molten Modular 24 - Discovering Envelopes featuring TINRS Edgecutter

Published on Aug 2, 2018 Molten Music Technology

"Envelopes in Eurorack can be hard to grasp, especially when moving from regular synthesizers. In this in-depth video we are going to uncover the concepts and usage of the ADSR envelope from first bleep to evolving modulations. Grab a coffee and give yourself an hour to bathe in the warm embrace of envelopes. I'll be featuring the This Is Not Rocket Science Edgecutter envelope module along with Make Noise Maths and a tiny bit of Tip Top Z4000 but this video is applicable to any sort of envelope.

Molten Modular - My first Eurorack module launch show!

video upload by Molten Music Technology

"Join me to explore my first Eurorack module - it's a beautiful and exciting thing! Designed in collaboration with Befaco, and Manu will be joining me to talk about the process and how it all works. It's not complicated; it's a simple and useful module that I hope will bring joy to every modular user.

The module will become available to buy during the live stream in assembled and kit form. An overview video and DIY build video will appear after the live stream.

Divkid also has a video:"

Audio & CV VISUALISED I love a Eurorack utility! // Motion Meter (MTR) from Molten Modular & Befaco
video upload by DivKid

"Here we have the new Motion MTR Eurorack module from Molten Modular (Molten Music Technology, Robin Vincent) and Befaco. The Motion MTR is your classic modular synth utility provided attenuation, inversion, offset voltages and mixing with the addition of lots of blinking lights!

More than a pretty light show the LED rings work as a VU meter (audio mode) or CV monitor and show your input voltages so you can better trace a patch, track down that feedback getting out of hand, or simply stared at blinky lights because secretly we all want out modulars to look like Christmas tree. They look great and perform well as you’ll see in the video.

MOTION MTR

CV AND AUDIO UTILITY / REALTIME VISUALIZER

Motion MTR allow you to mix, attenuate and invert signals while having clear visual feedback of their levels. Each channel can function as:
Audio level control with VU meter
CV attenuator with voltage meter
CV inverter with voltage meter
Each input is normalled to 10v, so you can
use each of them to generate fixed voltages.
Also, the outputs of channels 1 and 2 are summed into Out 3 to be used as a mixer.
Patch it wildly to make it work as an attenuverter with offset, as a mixer, a VU meter or a combination of them all!

This module is our first collaboration with Robin Vincent from Molten modular.

Cosmic Drone - Session 23 - Modular and Vocals Drone Music Performance

The Galaxy Electric

Chat with Molten Music below.

"Thanks for listening! Please back our kickstarter for our new album release on double vinyl, cassette and reel to reel here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Relax and tune into our live weekly improvised Drone Sessions. This twenty first session involves a drone featuring Buchla style complex and modulation oscillators drifting in and out of tune. There are also other sound elements such as filtered pink noise and bell-like tones. As the oscillator frequencies drift apart by way of manual control, beating ensues. Listening to droning oscillations can serve as mindfulness sounds as there is no sudden changes in sound. Just smooth drifts in pitch and the resulting beat frequencies and other ambient complimentary fragments of sound. Drones can also serve as an ambient track to have on while doing tasks that require intense focus. Drones are also great for a Sci-fi film soundtrack. The slow yet progressive nature of a drone performance can help one focus on tasks without distraction. The fact that we are manipulating these oscillators live and in collaboration helps the drone meander ever so smoothly in an evolving fashion as we are always reacting to one another's subtle movements. These movements are improvised so there is an unrehearsed and reactive ebb and flow to the tones generated. Engage in the practice deep listening with us.

The electronic music instruments used in this performance of modular drone music are the Buchla Music Easel and a cosmic vocal drone setup using two Boss RE-20 Roland Space Echo pedals.

Erica Synths Fusion Modulator & VCF3

Published on Apr 20, 2020 Molten Music Technology

"Come with me through the complex world of Synthi inspired envelopes, LFOs and S&H and see what sort of mess we can make."

Erica Synths Fusion VCF3 tube and vactrol filter review

Published on Apr 20, 2020 Molten Music Technology

"Smooth new filter from Erica Synths the Fusion VCF3 is dark and gooey with surprising features and a wonderfully natural sound."

Erica Synths Fusion VCF3 - no talking demo

"The Fusion VCF3 is resonant 24dB/oct lowpass filter of unique design that combines vacuum tubes and vactrols, providing distinct, soft filtering. For more versatility, the independent audio mixer and buffered multiple is incorporated in the module, and, most importantly – a CV recorder that records motion of the potentiometer, so you can design advanced modulation patterns.

The Fusion Modulator is a complex, all analogue modulation source with lots of distinct features. It consists of several blocks – two EMS Synthi functionality inspired looping envelope generators with simultaneous unipolar (0V-10V) and bipolar (-5V-+5V), VCA, Noise generator and Sample&Hold. This makes Fusion Modulator a versatile modulation source for advanced modular setups, especially drone music oriented ones. Set lopping envelope generators to high frequencies and have two sub bass sound sources, use VCA to control the amplitude of the envelope signal, modulate the decay time by random voltages from S&H circuit and get ever evolving sonic awesomeness!"

Music Thing Modular Pulses Jam (Turing Machine expansion)

Published on Sep 24, 2019 Molten Music Technology

"Not being entirely sure what to do I plugged the Pulses into as many triggerable things as I could find. The melody is also generated by the Turing Machine. It's a really interesting module that requires a bit more thought and experimentation than this video shows but just plugging it into stuff is fun!

I built Pulses from a kit including SMD components - check out my video of the build."

Erica Synths Introduces New Standalone Desktop Matrix Mixer Based on the Syntryx

Plugging in to the Matrix Mixer by Erica Synths video upload by Synth Diy Guy

"A whole new way to patch a modular, with endless mults and mixers, presets saving, randomization and more. I take a deep dive and devise some strategies for using this powerful tool."

"As Eurorack users may know, it can be challenging to change a patch radically during a performance, therefore diverse performances require large systems or they end up being extremely experimental. But what if you could repatch your system with the push of a single button? The Erica Synths Matrix Mixer is a 16 – input, 16 - output desktop patch matrix – it can route and mix signals with high precision, create buffered multiples and random patches. It can also interface external instruments with your Eurorack system, and – it’s not limited to Eurorack!

You can use the Matrix Mixer with semi-modular synthesizers, as well as through adapter cards with the EMS Synthi and Buchla Music Easel. Thanks to simple patch changes via panel buttons or MIDI program change messages, the Matrix Mixer will be particularly useful in performances that combine Eurorack and other performance instruments, such as drums, guitars, wind instruments, etc. Make your modular performance stand out and enjoy the Matrix Mixer!

Wavefonix W314 First Jam & 1847 Wavetable VCDO Sound Demo

video upload by Molten Music Technology

"Just got the W314 from Wavefonix plugged in and here's a recording of my first patch. The two 3340 oscillators are being sequenced by the Wavefonix 8-Step Sequencer and the Wavetable oscillator is getting two notes from a Varigate 4+ (both off-camera). There's some reverb on the output module. Otherwise, it's all the W314. More to explore!"

"The 1847 module is part of Wavefonix's W314 Eurorack system and here's a handful of minutes of moving knobs and enjoying the sorts of sounds it produces. There are 16 waveforms in the main oscillator with 8 in the sub-oscillator over 4 octaves. The main oscillator morphs whereas the sub switches which gives it an interestingly different effect when modulated."

Voltage Modular (Beta) sequencing and triggering my Eurorack

Published on Aug 3, 2018 Molten Music Technology

"Voltage Modular (Beta) just got two new modules - CV-to-MIDI and MIDI-Out - using these two together means you can route anything generating CV in Voltage Modular out to anything other MIDI devices in your studio. I used the Squarp Hermod to convert this MIDI back into CV in order to trigger, sequence and modulate my Eurorack hardware. I've been looking for a decent software drum machine to run from my Surface into my rack and this absolutely nails it. This is only the first time I've used these modules so I've edited out all the bits of me scratching my head :)"
