Classic Roland JD-800

via this auction

See the seller's other items for more.

"These keyboards have excellent sound capabilities and are used by many pro's including Jean Michael Jarre among others. Almost all JD-800's had a problem with the keybed. Excess glue eventually leaks into the keyboard action causing stuck keys, dead notes, etc. I had the keybed replaced last year during the Roland warranty recall campaign."

Anyone else hear of this?

Roland Jupiter 6 Synthesizer

via this auction

"This is unmodded, so the MIDI is original non-multichannel MIDI. It will send and receive on all channels, so you'll want to give it its own dedicated in/out from your MIDI rig if you use one.

The back panel has MIDI Thru/Out/In, Memory Protect switch (keeps you from accidentally overwriting your user presets), Tape storage Load/Save patches, Arpeggio Clock In, Patch Shift, Pedal Hold (that's where a Sustain pedal goes), VCA and VCF, Headphone output, line output, output level controls (High/Medium/Low) and an XLR out. This is the version of the Jupiter 6 with metal sides, not woodgrain."

Circuit Bent Modified Speak & Spell Math

via this auction

"Here we have a Benstruments, circuit bent Texas Instruments Speak & Math. Just like the Speak and Spell, exact same voice only the Speak and Math has better beat looping in my opinion. Works as a normal Speak until you flip a glitch switch.

Ive added these new controls: Opto-Theremin Pitch Control with on/off switch Pitch control knob that slows it to 8 bit sputtering and super fast high chattering. Tone oscillator button that creates a tone you can then manipulate with the pitch controls like a theremin 1/4" output jack that shuts off the onboard speaker when you plug into an amp or pa system Strobing blue LED for effect Active matrix glitch switch that causes glitching with each push of the membrane Loop switch with on/off and advance button for cool beat loops Reset switch to get it back to normal Glitch forever switch that sets the speak into constant gibbering of incoherent sentences Dual voice glitch switch that causes it to speak in both a high pitch and low pitch at the same time Ive added all the coolest mods you can find on these sweet robotic bent synthesizers. I guarantee all of my bentstruments for as long as you own, my work is solid and ive modified hundreds of toys and synths that are employed the world over by both famous and amateur musicians. Great piece to bring some creativity to your work."

EMS Powertran Transcendent 2000 Analog Vintage Synth

via this auction

"Ok here is a bit of an oddity its a boxed Transcendent 2000 synth which was designed by EMS and sold mainly in kit form in the late 70s. This unit comes in original box with filtersweep pedal. This synth was used by many UK acts including Joy Division - there is actually a picture of Bernard Sumner and Martin Hannett using one in the studio - in the 70s. This one is in excellent cosmetic condition although it has lost many of the silver caps on the knobs and two knobs are missing (easy to buy new ones from Maplin of course!!!). Performance wise its a bit quirky - the original owner had it stored since the 80s, I bought it for a studio session now completed - all knobs work and effect the sound and all keys trigger although the filter section is a bit iffy as it cuts out at times, it needs a proper service to get the best from it. That said it can produce some truly evil sub frequencies and ridiculous Hawkwind-like pink noise sweeps. You can get some great lead sounds on it too. Inside everything is clean and it has been neatly put together. There are schematics online and loads of mod options for those adept with a soldering iron."

Latronic Notron Mk2 Midi Sequencer

ARP Odyssey MkII Analog Synthesizer

via this auction
SN 2813 1715

"This is an ARP Odyssey MkII (black and gold) synthesizer with the 4075 filter...

- It was originally set up to be duophonic, where two voices would play if you pressed two keys at once, but I have it set up to be monophonic, with both oscillators on the same pitch.
- The filter originally cut off at too low of a frequency because the designers miscalculated the value of a resistor (see here), and I fixed it.
- I added a switch to let the LFO free-run instead of being re-triggered with each key press.
- It came from the factory with triggering on every keypress and an exponential glide (e.g. the same time to glide between any two notes). I modified it to be able to trigger like a Moog, where notes played legato do not trigger the envelope. This is switchable with a switch on the back (see the photo album). In addition, I modified the glide to be linear like a Moog. You can hear how this sounds in the clip above. Note that you would probably want to reverse these modifications if you wanted to trigger the synth with an external MIDI-CV converter.

All these modifications would be fairly straightforward to reverse if you so desired, and I kept the original parts, which I will provide with the synth."

PAiA 9720 DUAL VCO/MODULATION

via this auction

"The 9720 Dual VCO w/Modulator features two independent VCOs, each with a chromatic range of 10 octaves from 16Hz to 16kHz at a +/- 1cent pitch error. Total range of each oscillator is from 1 cycle/minute (0.017 Hz) to 100 kHz so both can be used as wide range pitch sources convering the extending well beyond or super slow multi-waveform LFOs. Temperature stability is extraordinary due to a novel exponential converter that provides more accurate temp tracking than conventional designs. More details and tech analysis in the "9700 Series FAQ".

Each VCO has two 1 V/Oct Control Voltage summing inputs and Pitch knob with 3 octave transpose range.. All outputs are DC coupled 5V p-p (-2.5V to +2.5V). The VCOs are identical in performance but there are subtle difference in features that optimize the flexibility of the pair.

Osc A has Ramp, Pulse, Triangle and Sine waveforms outputs. A built-in Glide Processor provides slew rates from milliseconds (perceptually instantaneous) to several seconds. Glide is also normalized to Osc B allowing both oscillators to track a single CV at variable slew rates with no additional patch cords. A convenient toggle switch transposes OscA down from normal audio outputs to an LFO mode in which the Pitch knob controls a range from 0.017Hz to 50Hz. Pulse output width is voltage controllable and defaults to a high harmonic output of ~10% DF. A "soft" Sync input allows more complex timbres than unsync'd waveforms provide.

Oscillator B has Ramp, Triangle and Pulse waveforms ouputs. Pulse Width is controlled both by the PW input and the Width knob. The PW input is normalized to the Modulator output so the useful effect of dynamic Pulse Width Modulation -either by transient or LFO - can be realized with no patch cords. An auxiliary 1 V/kHz Frequency Modulation input allows for complex FM timbres.

The Modulator is an Attack/Release Envelope Generator that has a separate Trigger input for A/R envelopes and Gate input for A/R with Sustain (ASR). Attack time is from 0.5ms to 2 seconds, Release time from 1ms to 4 seconds. The Cycle switch allows self-triggering for an LFO with independently adjustable rise and fall times and a range from a cycle every few seconds to over 100Hz. Gate and Trigger inputs work in Cycle mode to sync and control the LFO function. The front panel LED brightens and dims to indicate Modulator output.

The illustration shows a block diagram of the 9720. Oscillator A's Pitch CV1 routes through the Glide processor. The glide output normals to Pitch VC1 of the B oscillator so that only a single patch cord is needed for a tracking oscillators w/glide configuration. Plugging into Osc B Pitch CV1 disables the normal patch for independent control of the oscillators. The Pulse Width input of Osc B normals to the A/R Modulator's output."
