Circuit Bent AKAI XE8 DRUM MODULE

via Circuitbenders
"The Akai XE8 is an excellent sounding rackmount midi drum module with a grand total of 16 onboard sounds, slots for 2 extra sound cards each featuring another 16 sounds, 8 individual outputs plus a mix out, some excellent percussion shaping parameters including a pitch envelope, and a baffling operating system thats almost impossible to use without a manual!..

As you can see, our main modification on this machine is the addition of a single unit rackmounted patchbay which is connected to the main unit via a 25 way D-sub cable. More details of our patchbay mods can be found HERE

The patchbay has a total of 22 sockets in the main patching area and also includes 2 X Patchable switches, 2 X 3 way Patching multiples and a patchable momentary pushbutton for quick drum fills and spot effects. These extra features offer huge range of extra percussion grinding possibilities.

There is also the addition of a pitch knob that controls all of the onboard sounds simultaneously. This can take the pitch of the sounds way beyond what is possible using the tuning parameters. At its lowest setting the sounds disintegrate into a wall of digital aliasing noise and are barely even recognisable as percussion samples..."

"You are bidding on a cable that lets you connect the Minimoog's Cinch-Jones type trigger input to a more standard minijack used by several manufacturers. This reverses the trigger from the Minimoog's s-trig output to a more standard v-trig output. It was built by my tech Ramcur from quality parts and Canare cable."

Mr.AcidMachine USB MIDI to Trigger Box

via this auction
MrAcidMachine (RSS)

"handmade USB MIDI-to-Trigger box by Mr.AcidMachine!! Use it with analog drum circuits and modular synths. 20 output jacks (1/4-inch) that send 1 ms pulses at 5 volts (or higher). It is plug-n-play, no additional software needed! I have tested it with Ableton Live and the sequencing fun is endless. Takes a standard USB B type cable(not included). Powered by USB or boost the trigger voltage with a 9v~15v DC adapter (negative center like most effect pedals)."

SND SAM-16 Sequential Analogue Memory

via this auction

"Manufacturer Description:
the ultimate in musical clock generation & manipulation

- The only device in the world to generate a MIDI master clock that is absolutely jitter-free !!
- Derives a highly accurate clock from any audio workstation or computer
- Generates 4 separate clock streams
- Each clock stream has its individual MIDI output. 2 streams also generate 24-ppq signals (“Roland sync”), while the other 2 provide trigger and reset signals for analog sequencers and arpeggiators.
- Each clock stream can be time-shifted in relation to the master clock, in extremely small increments as well as in 16th-note steps.
- Each clock stream can be set to double or half tempo, and can be turned on and off without loosing synchronicity.
- A swing or shuffle factor can be set individually for each clock stream. The swing pattern can be the same for all 4 streams, or it can be a different one for each. A software editor for these patterns is included.
- Complete settings of all controls can be stored and recalled. All parameters can be remote controlled via MIDI. A setup mode allows to set precise absolute offsets for each clock, to compensate for technical reaction time differences of the various devices connected.
- Like all SND products, the ACME-4 has been designed with great attention to detail. The 32-bit risc-processor ensures lightning-fast reaction. High-grade components (gold-plated jacks, switches, and push-buttons, sealed Alps potentiometers etc.) and a rugged metal casing ensure decades of reliable operation.
- Size: 217 mm (width) x 160 mm (depth) x 68 mm (height), powered by USB or external supply"

John Bowen Solaris Demo1 Elhardt(192)

"I have a Solaris on loan and have been learning my way around it for the past two weeks. Figured I'd just throw down a few tracks to demo a few sounds I've come up with. No Waldorf or VS wavetables were used, it's all subtractive synthesis.

There are three short snippets of Stairway to Heaven, Baba O'Riley, and some U2 style maneuvers based around chords from Where The Streets Have No Name. All played by hand without a click track. Excuse the Baba O'Riley marimba repeat organ sound as I used echo in there to fill in missing notes in the difficult to play double strike main sound and so it's a little messy. Normally it should be sequenced. I'll do better demos after I create more sounds."

"An intriguing combination of programmers, artists, and philosophers, these creators embrace a process that delegates essential decisions to computers, data sets, or even random variables. This allows important metaphors to arise in their work, calling attention to the relationship between humans and the computers that surround us, the mountains of information we generate, and the powerful impact that technology has on our relationships with each other.

“SoundCloud” is a music distribution and sharing service that's very popular among musical creators. The loops you create can now be uploaded directly to “SoundCloud” from within the app. If you attach the loop data when doing so, it will be shared to other users' loop lists. Users worldwide will be exposed to new loops they've never heard, and can combine them with their own loops to create remixes. It's a new way of enjoying music by and unleashing your iKaossilator’s potential throughout the world.

☐ “AudioCopy” lets you share audio data between musical instrument apps
Newly added support for “AudioCopy” from Sonoma Wire Works means that you can copy and paste audio data between apps. Audio data you export from iKaossilator can be sent to apps that support AudioPaste.

☐ Flex Play makes it easy to generate fills and breaks
Designed for live performance, the Flex Play feature makes it easy to generate fills or breaks. Touch and hold Length or Tempo buttons, and then try stroking the touchpad. Movement in the X-axis will change the Length of all parts, and movement in the Y-axis will change the Tempo, allowing you to add dynamic changes to your song that will further expand your performance possibilities."

JP8 vs U-He DIVA PWM comparison

JP8 vs U-He DIVA PWM comparison by CoolColJ
"Another simple comparo between JP8 and Diva. JP8 first in each case

single PWM wave, no resonance, wide open filter, decay and release on the VCA envelope

I used all the correct modules on Diva with the clean filter. 24 bit 4.1khz for both, "Divine" quality setting and 8 note poly for Diva

As I mentioned before there is a very noticable difference btween the envelopes of my recapped/calibrated JP8 and Diva.
JP8 just snaps and pokes out more and faster. There is this soft feeling on the attack of Diva.

The PWM on the JP8 is very distinctive it's what gives it it's swirling ethereal sound. Diva is really different sounding here.
Also JP8 significantly brighter, again as I said before. And a rougher more raw edge to real VCOs. That's something I always found that software is lacking - a bit too glossy and smooth."
