Update: And the press release for the v2.1 update:

"Spectrasonics Releases Omnisphere v2.1 Update
Power Synth adds simplified user sound sharing and Library Publishing for third-party development

Burbank, CA - August 4, 2015 - Spectrasonics has released Omnisphere 2.1 with a streamlined 'Sharing' feature for sharing user sounds and a new Library Publishing capability. Version 2.1 is an update to the company's recent v2 upgrade of its flagship software synth. In May, Omnisphere Version 2.0 was released with vastly expanded new synthesis and creative capabilities for sound design, along with significant user interface innovations, and thousands of new sounds. The new v2.1 update, a free download to Omnisphere version 2 users, includes refined patch and project sharing features for easily exchanging custom sounds between end-users directly or over social media, a Library Publishing feature allowing third-party sound developers to create easily installable sound sets for Omnisphere 2 users, as well as a much improved boot time for the plugin itself. Both the Sound Sharing and Publishing features can contain 'User Audio,' offering new horizons in patch creation and simplified collaboration.

"It's exciting to see the Omnisphere universe expanding with so much great sound development work in so many areas, from EDM to rock, and film and TV scores to games," says Spectrasonics' Founder and Creative Director, Eric Persing. "And now third- party developers of patch sets for Omnisphere 2 have a simple way to create and offer custom libraries that can include their own soundsources, and are easy to install for customers. There's no need for installers or complicated instructions for moving files around directories deep in the system folders. And because it's so easy to share sounds and ideas now, we feel this will be a huge boon for social media user groups discussing tips and patch creation. This is a big opportunity for our users everywhere. We look forward to seeing and hearing what develops!"

Sharing sounds is simplified in Omnisphere 2.1, the end-user can simply shift-click on a few Patches or a few Multi-patches and then save them to be transferred to a friend or musical collaborator who also has Omnisphere 2. Sharing patches automatically includes any user audio, which is especially convenient with custom patches. Sharing multiple types of Patches, Multis and user audio all at once is easier too, with Project sharing; the end-user can just collect a set of sounds in a project, and then share the project.

The new "Publish Library" feature in v2.1 was created for third-party developers of Omnisphere libraries. It allows developers to easily export, or "publish" a library of Multis and Patches, along with any associated user-created Soundsources, as well as graphic images for the custom library in a single .omnisphere file format. End-users can then easily install this package into their systems with a single step.

Beyond the new sharing features in v2.1, the Version 2 upgrade released in May, includes a host of new capabilities including the most requested Omnisphere feature: Audio import for user-created soundsources-along with major new oscillator features including over 400 new DSP Oscillator waveforms, morphing Wavetables, new granular synthesis options, over 4500 unique new sounds created by Spectrasonics' acclaimed sound design team-bringing the total to over 12,000 total sounds and patches, 25 new FX units, an enhanced User Interface, and innovative production/browsing features such as Sound Match(tm) to instantly locate any related sounds in the library, and Sound Lock(tm) to create endless useful patch variations by locking sound aspects while browsing other patches-among many other innovative features.

4DSOUND: CIRCADIAN - Interactive Sound Performances at TodaysArt Festival The Hague, NL

Not specifically a synth event, but some of you might be interested in this. If you are unfamiliar with 4DSOUND, see this previous post featuring a couple of videos from Ableton. Also filing this one in the Art Installations channel. The following is the official press release on the event. You'll find the event site here.

"4DSOUND: CIRCADIAN
PREMIERE AT TODAYSART FESTIVAL IN THE HAGUE, NL 24-27th SEPTEMBER 2015
AT THE ELECTRICITEITSFABRIEK
4DSOUND unveils a new 24-hour programme of interactive spatial sound performances featuring Lisa Park, Marco Donnarumma, Kazuya Nagaya, Oscar Mulero, the overnight A/V meditation proj- ect Noqturnl by John Connell and Florence To, and more to be announced...
• 4DSOUND: Circadian investigates how spatial listening influences conscious states through- out the day and night
• Performances explore how to physically connect the listener with the surrounding space through movement, bio-physical media and psycho-acoustic stimulation
• Program features sound and movement workshops, immersive sonic meditation, participa- tive spatial performances, overnight collective dreamstate and an opening conference

4DSOUND is a laboratory and cultural collective exploring Spatial Sound as a medium. Since 2008, it has developed an innovative Spatial Sound technology that has significantly improved and ex- panded the possibilities to create, perform and experience sound spatially. 4DSOUND is a fully omnidirectional sound environment, where the listener can appreciate Spatial Sound images in a virtually unlimited spatial continuum. Sound can move infinitely distant or intimately close to the listener: it moves around, as well as above, beneath, in between or right through them.
A 4DSOUND environment allows for a natural reproduction of sound sources in a spatial environ- ment. The loudspeakers are completely transparent: instead of listening to speakers, one is listening to space.
Over the last two years 4DSOUND has developed a following through its acclaimed Artist Residency series and showcases at festivals such as Berlin Atonal and ADE, developing work with artists such as Vladislav Delay, Dasha Rush, Pantha du Prince, Murcof, Biosphere and the experimental imprint Raster-Noton. 4DSOUND has also given lectures and talks on the applications and implications of Spatial Sound at interdisciplinary festivals and symposiums such as CTM Berlin, IX Symposium Montreal and Gaudeamus Music Festival.

4DSOUND is at the forefront of researching and demonstrating how Spatial Sound is becoming intertwined with a broader cultural movement that propagates self-awareness, social cohesion and sustainability. Spatial Sound is at the heart of a development leading to an Ecology of Listening – influencing the quality of the listening environment to enhance our mental and physical state.

Inspired by the circadian rhythms that govern our wake-sleep cycle, the 4DSOUND: Circadian programme will investigate how spatial sound influences our states of consciousness over a 24- hour period, by exploring new ways to physically connect the listener with the surrounding space. Through a series of interactive spatial sound performances, workshops and talks, 4DSOUND seeks to embody the range of conscious states of the listener throughout the day, encouraging height- ened awareness of environment, mind-body connection, personal insight, creative expression, empathic sensitivity and social interaction.

Premiering at TodaysArt 2015, the festival for contemporary art and music in The Hague, Nether- lands, 4DSOUND: Circadian presents interdisciplinary work from a diverse set of artists - all created exclusively with and for 4DSOUND.

New York-based artist Lisa Park has developed a series of performances using biosensors (brain- wave and heart-rate devices) as a vehicle for manifesting her inner states. Lisa’s recent works “Eunoia” and “Eunoia II” involved using a commercial brainwave (EEG) headset as a self-moni- toring tool to measure her physical and psychological states. These performances obtained re- al-time feedback of her emotional reactions- an investigation into a new form of expression and trans-sensory experience by visually and audibly reflecting her inner states into tangible forms.
For 4DSOUND: Circadian, Lisa will engage with participants in a new interactive performance that works with spatialised sound derived from neurofeedback, participant interaction and manipulation of physical space to explore boundaries of intimacy, fear and social connection.

Marco Donnarumma is a performance artist, sound artist, musician and writer whose work in the last six years has focused on how to configure human bodies and machines through sound. He uses biotechnologies, software algorithms and body sensors to create intensely physical perfor- mances, concerts and live installations. For 4DSOUND: Circadian, he will invite visitors to take part in a communal, visceral experience of sound and light. Using the Xth Sense, his biowearable musi- cal instrument, vibrations from the visitors' bodies will be turned into physical sonic constructions that will grow and fall apart through time, space and frequency: a total space of networked bodies.

Robert Jan Liethoff is a Berlin-based actor, dramaturgist and voice movement teacher. His work draws on aspects of voice physiology as a departure point for the development of sound-oriented bodywork. He is fascinated by the body’s own intelligence: his compositions often begin from the concept of a raw, or formless space-state, from where they begin to move towards clearer specif- ic forms and structures. Robert will host a sound and movement class and lecture for 4DSOUND: Circadian inviting participants to explore a ‘physical’ listening practice, investigating how we per- ceive sound composition: what the body considers a ‘healthy’ sound texture, our ability to perceive sound internally as well as externally, and the influence this has on our spatial awareness- of space both internal and external, and the sense of physical self that emerges from this understanding.
Kazuya Nagaya is a Japanese artist who creates immersive, ritualised compositions through the use of bronze bells, gongs and singing bowls. Since releasing his first album ‘Utsuho’ in 1999, he has composed music for a range of projects, ranging from collaborations with Tibetan Buddhist monks to a remix for Plastikman. His performance for 4DSOUND will be a sonic immersion working with gong and beat tones tuned to specific frequencies, to induce deep meditative state.

Techno Is Space is an experimental project exploring the spatial forms and energetic movements within techno. 4DSOUND will showcase succesful performances from our recent Artist Residency series in Amsterdam that integrate wearable tactile bass technology from SubPac with 4DSOUND’s spatial system. Veteran Spanish DJ and producer Oscar Mulero will perform a highly charged spa- tial reworking of his acclaimed album ‘Muscle and Mind’ on Pole Group, while Berlin-based duo Cassegrain delve further into the spatially sensitive psycho-techno of their powerful recent LP ‘Centres of Distraction’ on Prologue.

Visual artist and art director Florence To creates light installations using the identity of first space, then sound, exploring the emotional depth of the audience’s perception. Her work with visual space translates how organized elements in architecture can create either tension or harmony in consideration of motion and adaption through live performance. Florence will collaborate with sound designer and 4DSOUND’s Creative Director, John Connell to present Noqturnl, an overnight audiovisual meditation exploring collective dreamstate. Noqturnl will take listeners through a series of ‘rooms’ as they drift between waking and dreaming states. Conveyed through shifting sound- scapes, these rooms contain individual dream scenarios with distinct environments and moods, encounters and interactions. Beginning with a short meditation, Noqturnl offers participants the chance for self-reflection, processing of memories and perceived mental and physical blockages and, ultimately, a dialogue with non-ordinary states of self-awareness at a deeper level."

DreamsOfWires - Roland CMU810 #3

Published on Aug 4, 2015 DreamsOfWires

"This will be an overly long and boring one for many; I -re-used a sequence from an earlier Minitaur video that was still stored in my Minibrute's sequencer memory, but I wanted to record something simple with the CMU810 only, so that I could show how it sounds a little more clearly. It's a nice instrument, a little limited compared to my SH1, but definitely fatter-sounding, yet it can sound particularly pretty and definitely has the familiar Roland sound character which I like so much. I added some annoying subtitles at times so you've some idea what my hands are doing in the semi-darkness. A little reverb was added, as usual."

Not boring to me! I love demos like this.

"ELKA SYNTHEX, first generation series, fully working, excellent cosmetic condition.

This model has a near mint control panel. The wood parts are in excellent condition.

It works perfectly and smoothly, no known issues. Serial number: 10xx.

MIDI can be installed. The kit is available from France and it costs 250 euro shipping included. I'll provide details on request.

This model has never been touched inside! All electronics are immaculate. It sounds very healthy despite its age. It could be just my perception. but this particular model sounds fatter and louder than any other Synthex I ever had (approximately 30 models so far)."

"It has the standard SMR4 filter board installed - a lovely, liquidy Roland-inspired 4 pole filter - and is capable of a huge range of sounds, with 2 flexible and endlessly entertaining digital oscillators which have a ton of character, the ability to play duophonically, and - unlike the regular shruthi - a well laid out and easy to navigate and highly tweakable interface with a ton of knobs.

This model was built by Mutable Instruments trusted builder Laurentide Synthworks - which have now taken over production of the Shruthi line since MI discontinued them - and has never left my studio, been covered from dust, and is in absolutely MINT, pristine condition.

Last note - the XT has been DISCONTINUED. If you want one of the finest digital analog hybrids ever created - and want to be able to create patches in a minute rather than in half an hour - here's your chance to get one. Feel free to email me with any questions you have. Thanks for looking!"

via this auction

via the seller: "The 3rd ever production Linndrum for sale here, I've actually spoken to Roger Linn about this and he confirmed it for me. Pick up a proper collectors item.

Works great but takes a long time to get warmed up, which is not unusual for such an old instrument. If you wanted you could get the transformer serviced so that it will start up faster, something I've done with my Prophet 5. I just tried it out and after the warm up it worked and sounded brilliant. A shame to sell it really.

I only ever use it for making patterns with and have never used or tested it's song sequencer mode. Never had any issues with the machine though apart from the long warm up time.

The right output of the stereo output is at a bit loose, as you can see from the picture. I tried moving it around to see if any noise or loose connections were occurring but there was nothing. Works totally fine.

When I bought it it did not have the screws fixing the hinged top section to the bottom section. This is not a problem unless you plan on putting the drum machine upside down, and is actually quite handy as there internal parameters that are adjustable (like Kick tune).

Collection from London E8 is preferred as this is a vintage item and might not do too well in the post. Saying that if postage is required I can do it but it will not be cheap as item is heavy. It will be well packed though, but will take longer than the 3 working days advertised."

New Make Noise soundhack tELHARMONIC Tutorial Video

Published on Aug 3, 2015 MAKEN0ISE

"The tELHARMONIC is a Multi-Voice, Multi-Algorithm synthesizer module named for the music hall considered by some to be the location of the first electronic music concerts. It was coded by Tom Erbe with the goal of presenting three historically important pioneering electronic tone generation techniques less often implemented within the modular synthesizer.

The tELHARMONIC's roots go back further than the advent of electronic music, as it also takes a new approach to handling music theory in the modular context. TONIC, INTERVAL, DEGREE and D-GATE, allow for patch-programming of complex chord progressions, scales, melodies and playing styles. This Voltage Controlled Music Theory guides the Algorithms in a unified way, whereas CENTROID, FLUX and H-LOCK sculpt the timbre of each Algorithm uniquely, allowing for complex sounds to be created around a unified melodic structure and pattern.

3 Voice Additive Harmonic synthesis inspired by Thaddeus Cahill's Telharmonium, 1897 http://120years.net/the-telharmonium-...

Noise synthesis inspired by early computer music piece "Analog 1: Noise Study" by James Tenney, 1961

3 Voice Phase Modulation synthesis inspired by early commercial digital synthesis, 1980's

CENTROID, FLUX and H-LOCK animate each Algorithm uniquely

All Algorithms available simultaneously at their respective outputs

6 octaves of continuous 1V/ Octave pitch control

4 octaves of quantized pitch control

Voltage Controlled Music Theory

DEGREE Modulation able to be synchronized by clock or gate via D-Gate input

Gate Out completes the conversation between tELHARMONIC and rest of system!

Utilizes High performance DSP hardware with 24bit, 48kHz codec, 32 bit floating point processing

Reasonable power consumption

Pairs well with Optomix"

I don't think I've ever seen one of these before.
