"The two light bulbs have each a chip with a few sensors; the sensors detect movement, XYZ, shaking, velocity and proximity from each other. All these senses transmit this data as control messages to a laptop running unknown software. As the control messages trigger different sounds and events, it also sends corresponding electrical voltages back to the light bulbs, making the light bulbs react to the different movements. Really cool stuff!! I heard that a guy in Japan makes these, they're custom and only a few exist. As far as I know, there is no website for these things."

Can't remember anymore how I originally got any info of this legendary record, but I do remember how I found it at the Seinäjoki record Store and how I listened it before buying it. Even the trip to the city, dark evening and then how I was there with my 2 brothers, and how they left me into the record store and went to their businesses - and forgot me there... And how I was a bit scared when I realized that. (I was 17) And how they finally came to pick me up. (the last long Bach's Prelude nr 8 here - brings those memories over and over again...)
This record was very important many other ways. I took it with me to school and played during the music lesson and my music teacher liked it very much, so much that she wanted to play it in the morning prayer through the loud speakers to the whole school. That was amazing a moment for me!
Then I played it in our teenager dancing party at our school. Between the pop songs. Still remember how people were amazed to hear in-between Rolling Stones & Beatles something like this.
Trivia: The 1st LP I ever digitalized into CDr in 1999.
Trivia2: There's another version of the cover pic, where the wigged-headed "Bach" is standing."

Some Notes on the Little Phatty ARP

"Hi all; thanks for listening.The arpeggiator is a firmware feature of Little Phatty OS 2.0, which is currently in progress; I am testing it as we develop it.
It will start shipping with the new LP Stage edition version II, which should be out next month.
Once that's done we will release an update for all LP Stage Editions which will give them the new features; after that we plan to port it to the Tribute Edition as well.
Joe & other Tribute owners: it's looking like the new OS adds enough code that it won't all fit on the Tribute's smaller memory.
We'll make sure that TE owners can upgrade their memory so they can run the full v2 OS, and I'll see if we can do a "lite" v2 with as many features as will fit in the original memory.
The new v2 features include the arpeggiator, and tap tempo and MIDI sync for both the arpeggiator and the LFO. The arp can have its own internal clock, or MIDI sync with many different clock divider options, or you can clock the arpeggiator from the LFO. The LFO can now sync to MIDI with its own clock divider separate from the arpeggiator's (meaning a 16th-note arpeg synced with a 2-bar filter sweep, for example).
The arpeggiator has the following specs:
Patterns: UP, DOWN, ORDERED. (Random is planned but not yet implemented)
Modes: LOOP, OSCILLATE
Octaves: -3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, +3
Latch on/off
This provides a lot of flexibility. Here is how it works:
Modes: LOOP means that the pattern is played from beginning to end, and then again from beginning to end (equivalent to a ramp wave driving a sequencer). OSCILLATE means that the pattern is played from beginning to end, and then in reverse back to the beginning (equivalent to a triangle wave driving a sequencer).
The Octaves setting is used to repeat the pattern at sequential octaves away from the original notes; 0 plays only the original notes entered, +1 plays the original pattern and then repeats it one octave up; -2 plays the original pattern and then repeats it one octave down, then repeats it two octaves down.
So, you can get the classic "Up/Down" pattern by setting Pattern = UP, Octaves = +1, Mode = OSCIL. "Down/Up" would be Pattern = DOWN, Octaves = -1, Mode = OSCIL. However, the fact that these settings are distinct from one another means that you can get some novel patterns also; for example you can have the notes you enter play back from highest to lowest (pattern = DOWN) but repeat this downward pattern an octave higher, and then again an octave higher (Octaves = +2)... and then reverse, playing the notes low-to high but repeating at descending octaves.
Pattern = ORDER is very nice also, as it allows you to arpeggiate notes in the order you play them, for more interesting melodic phrases. This also works in OSCIL mode, so that the arpeggiator will play a phrase in the order you enter the notes, and then in reverse order."

"The CRV-24 is a four band crossover with 24 dB/octave for all slopes. Crossover frequencies can be controlled manually and by attenuable CV signals.The incomming signal INPUT is splitted in four bands; LP (low pass filter), MID1 (high/low pass), MID2 (high/low pass) and HP (high pass filter).
It's an ideal module combined with other modules when the audio frequencies can be splitted in four frequency bands.

"The tone has so much muscle that with external effects you can achieve some very cool sounds. Its a mono-keyboard, which means you can only play one note at a time.. but it would be extremely muddy if you could play more than one. Just have to remember to tune before every performance, and to take it in every once in a while to make sure all the notes are in tune with each other. Sounds awesome overdriven through a loud and shitty bass amp. In its purist form it mimics the low-end of an organ but with less warbling or reediness. Also good for a very full 60's bass sound or something to hold down the low end in a buzzy synth band.
CONTROLS:
The bass boost lever boosts the bass (there's not much to it without the lever all the way up). The TONE switch chooses either a low fat bass or a brighter version. The difference is not immediately apparent unless you also have on the next switch... FUZZ which turns the tone nasty. MODE acts as a kind of attack envelope; SUSTAIN has a relatively short attack but still soft, while PERCUSSION creates a light percussive "pop" at the beginning of the note...very subtle but adds punch. DECAY set to "slow" will let the note fall away a bit after you take your finger off the key, while "fast" means the sound stops as soon as you lift up on the back, there are metal knobs to adjust FINE TUNING and LEVEL." Oberheim OB-X
images via this auction"The Oberheim OB-X is an analog polyphonic synthesizer. It was the first Oberheim synthesizer that was created with internal prewired modules and not with the bulky SEM modules. Because of this, it was more functional for live performance, not to mention more portable. It was introduced in 1979 and was discontinued in 1981. It came in four, six, and eight-voice models.
This is the eight-voice version, actually SO OLD our resident synth guy who looked inside it said it's made by putting modules from two four-voice versions together. That's why we think this one is an earlier one. Also note the slightly different graphics (OB-X logo on the lower right above the keys, instead of the top left).
Besides the generous polyphony, each OB-X came with a memory capable of holding 32 user-programmable presets, along with polyphonic portamento, and polyphonic sample and hold. The OB-X was in direct competition with the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5. Capable of lush analog synth sounds comparable to the Sequential Prophet 5 but at a reasonable price. The OB-X also gives you Polymod functionality, something that the OB-Xa and OB-8 do not have."

Roland PG-300
via this auction"Also known as the Juno/MKS-50 programmer. The Roland Alpha Juno 1 and 2 synthesizers were released in the mid 80's to widespread popular acclaim. The MKS-50 is the rack-mount version. These synths sound incredible. But......Roland made PROGRAMMING these synths OPTIONAL. They designed the PG-300 as an optional programmer allowing full, real-time control and editing of all of the parameters of the synthesizer (with real sliders and switches for every function) And what control it is... There are 25 sliders and 11 switches. Very kewl for real-time control. Thru MIDI Exclusive messages, the programmer does its magic, while sitting ON TOP of the Juno Synthesizer (or free-standing, in the case of controlling the MKS-50)."

MOOG Voyager Old School #1 Rolls of The Assembly Line
Yesterday marked a historical day at MOOG Music. Serial number 1 of the Voyager Old School rolled off the production line. You can find images of it along with serial numbers 1-3 here.The images include:
- The front of Serial #1 Old School.
- Serial numbers 1 - 3 stacked up in burn in and awaiting shipping.
- The top of Serial #1 Old School. The careful observer will notice a few more CV outputs than the released prototype pictures.
- The guts of the Old School. Those that have seen the inside of a Voyager may be asking where did everything go? Note how clean this design is.- A PCB easter egg! Look closely and you will see a BUG in the OS (pun intended). There apparently are more of these on the board.
Note that yesterday also marked the following:
1) The first OS went to shipping. It was actually built the day before but had to go though burn in and test, so it was not finished until yesterday.
2) The last little Phatty Stage Edition V1 was built - next build will all be SE 2.0 with a revised chassis.
3) The PCB for the, hopefully, production version of the multi pedal was laid out and sent to the fabricator to be made.

The Vocoder Plus contains three tone-generating sections: Vocoder, Human Voice and Strings, which may be independently assigned to cover the whole keyboard, or either the upper or lower half.
The String section produces orchestral string sounds that are silky and warm feeling, and most importantly, consistent throughout the entire length of the keyboard. The Tone and Attack Time of the String section can be controlled inependently, and the Release Time is hared with the two other sections.
The Human Voice section literally defies description with its uncanny resemblance to a chorus of human voices. The upper half of the keyboard contains one female and one male chorus, while the lower half contains two male choruses. There is also an ensemble effect which increases the dimension of the vocal chorus.
The Vocoder section, like our rack-mounting Vocoder (SVC-350), processes the spoken or sung human voice (program), analyzing its character and using this information to modify another musical signal (carrier). The Vocoder section uses ten analysis filters for vowel sounds, and there is also an additional filter that is used for consonants. The Vocoder section uses as a carrier signal the combined components of the Human Voice and String section
