"Here's a very cool keyboard from Sequential. Notice the joystick for controlling your sound modeling. The Prophet VS uses Vector Synthesis as its revolutionary new means of sound creation. It uses a total of four oscillators per voice with 127 waveforms (32 user) and dynamic waveform crossfading via the joystick. This was Sequential's first digital synth, and it was also their final synth unfortunately. But after Sequential was gone, Vector Synthesis technology went into the popular Korg Wavestation. The Prophet VS is still a very sought after instrument because it has an incredible range of sounds!"

"Simple" Morphun Test 01

YouTube Published on Apr 21, 2012 by djangosfire

"Not an in-depth test . . . just a simple fun try-out.

- Morphun #1 is set to "Morph" (basically re-shapes an incoming transient)

- Morphun #2 is set to "Clock" (basically a sequencer mode)

I'm using the "Morph" in this patch, as kind of a "tape stretching" - "Note Bending" that cycles in time - via 281e from Pendulum Ratchet. The Sequence is being transposed via the Source Selector ModuleModule."

Buchla, Eardrill Morphun Test 02

Published on Apr 21, 2012 by djangosfire

"More experimenting with the amazing Eardrill Morphun ModuleModule.

- Morphun #1 set to "Clock" mode - output to the Pendulum Ratchet "Division A" CV control . . . allows for clock division shifting.

- Morphun #2 set to "Strobe" mode (much like a Sample and Hold). Input to "Morph" from 1x single 281e channel transient output - which is in turn being pulsed by the "Division A" output of the Pendulum Ratchet.

The actual sound is coming from a single 258V oscillator - w/ a second 258v providing nice FM.... the amount of FM is being controlled by a "Source Selector" that has 4x inputs of attenuation."

Using core MIDI, audio backgrounding, along with the Z axis readings off the magnetometer... negative pole vs. positive pole of the magnets will trigger pitch up or down. Sends pitchwheel, modwheel, and random note commands w/ poly-aftertouch.

BE CAREFUL PLAYING WITH STRONG MAGNETS!"

I'm not seeing this one on iTunes yet. I am seeing other Magnetometer apps which makes me wonder why people chose app names that are already taken? Magnetocontroller would be just as good and easier to find?

Sorry for the distortion at times , the audio interface being behind me, levels are hard to keep track of while playing.
This is a work in progress, many things still need to be improved.
Next video should be more on the Nu disco side, and 10 to 20 bpm slower :)

Note this render is in red. You can see one in black here.

"The plug and perform simplicity of our stand-alone Triple Six synth has been carefully distilled into Eurorack format by hirsute hands. We designed a single module as powerful as an expensive array of traditional VCO/VCF/VCA modules patched together. While no compromise to the true spirit of the original circuit was afforded we worked especially hard to make this one of the most compatible Eurorack instruments available with a generous array of 9 distinct control voltage inputs:

Added into the Euro-Format bargain are three additional new controls not available on the original:

· Shape-Knob
· Patch-Knob
· Three-way Patch Switch

In essence it is quite possible that this one module alone, placed under the control of up to 9 separate sequenced CV channels, could sound like someone slipped a C4 charge into Tonto’s “expanding headband”.

Features:
· 2 for Twin Oscillators Freq.
· 1 for Threshold (Osc. Gate/Selection/Etc.)
· 4 for Twin Amplifiers (FX/2nd Osc.)
· 1 for Signal Shape parameter (filter)
· 1 for Output Drive parameter
· Plus audio input (modulation/filter/etc)

Beep-it Optical Theremin Light Controlled Synth Sound Effects Generator

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction
"Are you a musician (or just someone who loves making noise)? Like crazy noisemakers? Want to drive your parents/spouse/kids/dog/cat crazy? Like any product that involves a Big Red Button? You'll love the Beep-it Optical Theremin. It is a hand-held, rectangular device that features a Big Red Button, a volume knob, a 1/4" jack, and a light sensitive resistor. Simply put in a 9 volt battery and you'll be ready to play.

As an optical theremin, it outputs a square wave whose pitch is controlled by the amount of light striking a photoresistor. You control the pitch by casting shadows over the light sensor or by pointing it toward or away from a light source. Using a flashing light can induce a cool oscillating effect. It's fun for amateur noisemakers, but powerful enough for professionals working in experimental, hip-hop, electronic, sample-heavy, and indie rock genres. It is simple to use and powerful enough to appeal to any musician to use in a live set or recording or sampling session.
Simple, powerful, and FUN musical instrument
Cast shadows over the light sensor or point lights at it to change pitch
Use a flashing light for a cool oscillating effect
Press the Big Red Button - you know you want to do it !

Dark Time days are going on - studio tour (II)

YouTube Published on Apr 21, 2012 by skoulaman

"I created a nice pattern with the Doepfer Dark Time, not all the steps are used (skip) and some of the are used but without sound. Normally with all steps used you create the Berlin skoolisch sounds but now a more "normal" ritme is created. A special attention is made for the Electrix Mo-fx and the DS8, in my opinion underrated instruments. I cought my hands on very rare ROM cards, the DSC01 and DSC03 so I used a sound from one of the cards. The vid is somewhat uncontrolled but I wanted to show how this song was build up. I put some written info to it.

Have pleasure with the vid and music and always listen to this kind of music with a good pair of headphones ore speakers

Monophonic Synth Technique with the Misa Kitara (and Cakewalk z3ta+ 2 VST)

YouTube Published on Apr 21, 2012 by misadigital

"Here I connect the kitara to the cakewalk z3ta+ 2 software synthesizer. Basically, the kitara becomes an extension to the synth, as a new way to control it. If you have cakewalk z3ta+ 2, you can download this particular sound preset from here: http://www.misadigital.com/misa_monophony.fxp

The glide/portamento of a synth is a very overlooked aspect of synthesizers, especially from a guitar synth perspective. The idea behing this video is to show how you can get a more "sequencer" type sound using the kitara's onboard sustain functionality.

In this video the kitara is tuned to E3, A4, D5, G5, B5, E6 (notice bottom E is an extra octave lower). Also, tap mode is on, and the sustain function should be enabled.

Ps. I actually took this riff from one of the z3ta showcase sequences, because I thought it sounded awesome!"

1. BALL_X = CC16
2. BALL_Y = CC17
3. TOUCH_X = CC18

And on the z3ta synth, set filter cutoff to CC16 and filter resonance to CC17 (you do this by right clicking on the control knobs)."

It has 5 sounds; pino low, piano high, vibe (vibrato), harpsichord low and harpsichord high. It also has a note sustain knob. The presets used in this demo were vibs and harpsichord high. Posting Guidelines - How to Get Posted on MATRIXSYNTH

Just a heads up, remember to check out the posting guidelines before sending in any submissions (you'll find a permanent link on the right in the MATRIXSYNTH-P section and the very bottom right of the Twitter, Facebook, RSS and Email section). I've been getting a few more requests than normal to post people's music. As much as I'd love to, unfortunately I can't. Site rules. The main reason? Not everything can go up and I don't like judging people's music. Everyone has different tastes so who am I to make the call on what would go up. The only option would be to post everything that comes in. If I do that the site would get out of control. So, I use synth spotting and demos as the rule. Note there is a bar. Synth spotting quality has to be as good as everything else that goes up. That I have no problem judging as it's not about personal taste. If you have any questions feel free to ask. If you'd like to share your music, share it on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge. Tons of great music goes up there each day.
