"This Shruthi-1 was specifically built to go straight to ebay. Specs on the synth can be found here: http://www.mutable-instruments.net/shruthi1/specs The synth ships with the latest SMR-4 Analog Filter (SMR-4 MKII). All components are brand new and were ordered specifically for this synth. All part numbers were taken from the BOM's on the Mutable Website. The case, PCB's and Microprocessor & eeprom chips were purchased from Mutable Instruments. All parts have been sourced locally to save on costs.

Synth ships with latest firmware version (0.96) and upgraded storage (512K compared to the original storage size of 128K on older units) for a total of 464 total patch slots. Patches 1-128 are the stock patches. I have also added custom patches to slots 129-268. These patches were found on the Mutable Instruments Forum as well as ones I have created.

I have been building synths and other DIY projects as well as working as an Electronics Technician for 11 years. All solder joints are solid, no cold joints. Synth has been fully tested!"

"Tunable, Random Pulse Generator made from CMOS CD4000 Family IC Chips. Best way to describe the sound is to use the Classic Arcade game 'Defender' for reference. You can make some nice snare and Chip Core type percussive sounds.

CV input sources: CV direct input, FM direct input (has bigger range then cv input), Linear CV input.

There is an on board 3 Band EQ, yup like the mixer consoles. It is setup for Synth Level signals. The Noise Generator is set to pass thru it also. So you get (1) Raw Noise out, and (1) EQ Noise out. To process one of your external VCO's through the EQ just plug it into the Input jack to break the internal switch jack between the Noise Generator and the EQ.

You can use this as a random Clock signal also.
There is an Orange Led to give you feedback on the Pulse rate."

"In which the monkeys in my synthesizer express their outrage at the unfairness of their captivity

Basically the same patch as my last video. Still just 5 modules used. The Dual Wogglebug is doing a lot - modulating things left and right and putting out the wobbly clock that's driving the Klee Sequencer, which driving the pitches of the cross-modulated Buchla 258 Dual VCO clone and the frequency of the Korgasmatron III VCF which is in bandpass mode. The Wogglebug is also flipping the panning of the Yusynth Mixer/Panner around. And it's all going through a Eventide Space with a really basic Hall setting. Recorded straight into the computer, no audio editing afterwards. Copyright 2012 Stephen Drake."

Minoru "Dummy" Koike(小池実) - 5Strings Fretless Bass
Yuichi Onoue(尾上祐一) - Handmade Ribbon Controller

Live at Ekoda Flying Teapot(Tokyo) on Dec17th 2011

Onoue plays handmade ribbon controller.
It can change a oscillator pitch smoothly, depending on the place which you press down. It was originally made as a kind of MOOG SYNTHESIZER's controller in late 60's. I made this following its example. And playing style is self-taught.

"I ran the unit in test mode, and it seems like voice chip number 2 is hanging and has a broken VCA. Voice chips number 1, 4 and 5 weren't working in a Filter Test, which probably means these voices have broken VCF. I also noticed Chorus Buttons seem like they are not working too, but everything else should be working fine to the best of my knowledge. Preset memories and writing function working well.

Cosmetically the unit is in a reasonably nice condition as you can see on my pictures. All the original switches, adjusters, and keys are in place and in good shape. Maybe a slight color aging on the buttons. Other than that there are few minor wear and surface marks here and there, most notably the marks shown in my picture #10, but nothing major.

Sold as is at a bargain price."

"This amazing little device translates audio into VCO CV (control voltage) signals and trigger (gate) signals to control both Hz/V (Korg, Yamaha) and V/Oct (Roland, Moog, Octave, Arp, etc.) analog synths.

You can use an electric guitar, microphone, or other transducer output (from an acoustic instrument, for example) to "play" a synthesizer. A variety of remote control input jacks let you use foot switches for more freedom and flexibility.

What's more, it outputs positive and negative gate signals, ENV follower voltage, and has built-in portamento. So can be used to make automatic bass lines from drum machine beats and to sweep a synths filter from the envelope follower."

Each month one of the group members submits a tb303 pattern for everyone to load into their 303, x0xb0x's or soft synths to make some acid

The pattern can then be programmed into your tb303 or x0x box to create a new track.
The pattern could be programmed into your vst such as ABL or Phoscoyn to create a new track.
Transcribe the pattern to midi and send it to your favourite synth to create a new track.
Grab the audio file and rework the audio into a new track

((audience)) and Harvestworks present Source of Uncertainty

YouTube ublished on Jun 29, 2012 by audiencefest

"On June 28, 2012, Harvestworks and ((audience)), in partnership with River to River Festival, organized Source of Uncertainty and the Control Voltage Faire. As most modular synthesizers are constructed at the cottage industry level and distributed online, it is difficult for users to interact with these instruments. Control Voltage Fair will be the first opportunity on the East Coast for amateur enthusiasts, professionals and the general public to experience analog synthesizer modules produced by DIY manufacturers and crafters. The Control Voltage Fair will examine the origins and future of modular synthesis. The evening's concert, Source of Uncertainty, featured a Buchla 200e recital by three composers exploring this powerful instrument: Alessandro Cortini, Carlos Giffoni, and Mark Verbos. To close the event, Xeno & Oaklander and Loud Objects performed on all-analog instruments."

Avid Sells M-Audio to inMusic

via Avid:

"BURLINGTON, MA, 2012-07-02

Today Avid® (NASDAQ: AVID) initiated a series of strategic actions to focus the company on its Media Enterprise and Post & Professional customers and to drive improved operating performance. As part of these actions, the company is divesting its consumer businesses. With these changes, Avid will concentrate on core markets where its deep domain expertise, track record of technical innovation, and strong brand offer the greatest opportunity for success.

“The changes we are announcing today make Avid a more focused and agile company,” said Gary Greenfield, CEO of Avid. “By streamlining and simplifying operations, we expect to deliver improved financial performance and partner more closely with our enterprise and professional customers. Our objective remains to provide these customers with the innovative solutions that allow them to create the most listened to, most watched and most loved media in the world. I’m excited about our future prospects.”

Avid has agreed to sell its consumer audio and video product lines. The company’s consumer audio products are being sold to inMusic, the parent company of Akai Professional, Alesis and Numark, among others. Headquartered in Cumberland, Rhode Island, inMusic's brands are best known for producing innovative products for music production, performance and DJing. The products involved in this transaction include M-Audio brand keyboards, controllers, interfaces, speakers and digital DJ equipment and other product lines. Avid will continue to develop and sell its industry-leading Pro Tools® line of software and hardware, as well as associated I/O devices including Mbox and Fast Track.

Separately, the company’s consumer video editing line is being sold to Corel Corporation, a consumer software company headquartered in Ottawa, Canada. The products involved in this transaction include Avid Studio, Pinnacle Studio, and the Avid Studio App for the Apple iPad®, as well as other legacy video capture products.

The divested product lines contributed approximately $91 million of Avid’s 2011 revenue of $677 million. As part of the transactions, certain employees of Avid will transfer to each acquiring company. Avid estimates that the proceeds from these transactions will be approximately $17 million, subject to closing inventory adjustment, with a portion held in escrow. Both transactions are expected to close today, July 2, 2012.

Avid also plans to reduce the number of its employees as it streamlines operations, with approximately 20% of its permanent employee base impacted by the divestitures and headcount reduction plans. The company currently expects to incur a restructuring charge of approximately $19 to $23 million related to these actions and other associated measures.

The company’s cash balance on March 31, 2012 was $49.7 million. The proceeds from the sale of these product lines should offset most of the restructuring charges paid in 2012.

Conference Call
A conference call to discuss these actions has been scheduled for today, July 2, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. ET. The call will be open to the public and can be accessed by dialing (719)-325-2234 and referencing confirmation code 2084154. The call and presentation slides will also be available on Avid’s website. To listen and view the slides, go to http://ir.avid.com/events.cfm prior to the start of the conference call..."

Fairlight Instruments Now Peter Vogel Instruments - New Products Coming

via Peter Vogel Instruments

"A facelift for Fairlight Instruments

Fairlight Instruments Pty Ltd is changing its name in anticipation of the release of some exciting new products.

The new name, Peter Vogel Instruments, reflects the company’s transition from building on the past to inventing the future.

I am delighted to announce that we will be unveiling some amazing new products over the coming year, under the new brand. These are now in development and all I will say is that we are working hard to make the new products accessible to the average musician, unlike the Fairlight CMI which back in 1979 cost more than the average house.

The CMI-30A, which we released last year as an homage to the original Fairlight CMI, will continue to be our prestige flagship product. A major upgrade now in the works will become available later this year to existing 30A owners free of charge.

The iOS app has been rebranded and has been withdrawn from the app store pending Apple’s approval. Existing app owners will see an update offered shortly. In response to customer requests, significant new functionality is being developed for release as a free update later this year.

We are also developing an entirely new keyboard product, quite unlike anything previously made by Fairlight — or anyone else.

All will be revealed at NAMM in 2013.

Exciting times!

Peter Vogel"
