ROLAND JUNO-6 Analog Synthesizer 1982 | HD DEMO

Published on Oct 30, 2012 by AnalogAudio1

"This is the Roland Juno-6 (or: who stole the programmer on my Juno-60?). The sound and the sound architecture is identical to the Juno-60. But the highpass filter of the Juno-6 is infinitely variable, whereas on the Juno-60 you can choose from 4 settings.

I played the Juno-6 dry without any additional effects."

Livid CNTRL:R and Dave Smith Instruments Tempest - The Meeting

Published on Oct 30, 2012 by lividTV

"Check out this preview of Peter Nyboer (Livid) and Carson Day (DSI) in a "best of both worlds" throw-down. With an unholy union of gear from the Livid and Dave Smith shelves, Carson and Peter conjure up a mad mix of clips, synths, plug-ins, and step sequencers, in a seamless combination of analog and digital sounds.
Livid and Dave Smith Instruments at first glance seem like two opposites in the music tech world: Livid's controllers are geared toward trends of portability, flexibility, and all-digital, real-time production. Dave Smith's Tempest is gloriously rooted in traditions of analog audio and all-in one electronic instrumentation. However, both companies are simply fans of electronic music, and wanted to find a way to cross-pollinate these ideas. Keep your eye on your inbox, twitter feed, facebook page, or your tickertape for the upcoming tutorials and downloads that show how to bring these amazing pieces of gear together!

The Deathlehem Machine portable edition

Published on Oct 30, 2012 by Richarius Molindarius

"This is a very short video to give you a rough idea of what my latest noise machine can do! :D This one's a little different though! Not only is he PORTABLE and will be running on a pair of 9V batteries, but he also has STEREO speakers built into him and will have 2 stereo outputs as well! :D
This is the prototype of my idea that I originally had for my 4th Deathlehem Machine that I built in the mid 90's. This guy though blows that one away, as this one is operating on 4 x Voltage Controlled Low Frequency Oscillators! :D (2 of them USED to be 1V/oct. VCOs in my modular. The other 2 x VCLFOs were taken from the same place.)
The 2 x former VCOs can play then entire audio range as well as drop down to almost pausing speed VCLFOs with the triangle waveform. They can also modulate the other VCLFOs with squarewaves
The 2 x VCLFOs can operate from almost pausing speed up the midrange of audio with either triangle or squarewaves.

Operationally:
Each of the 4 x VCLFOs have the following controls:
- Coarse tuning
- Fine tuning
- Control Voltage #1 amount
- Control Voltage #2 amount
- Triangle or Squarewave
- a speed LED
- a volume control

Each of the 4 x VCLFO's can modulate 2 others. The connections are:

VCLFO #1 is hardwired to modulate VCLFO #2 and VCLFO #3
VCLFO #2 is hardwired to modulate VCLFO #3 and VCLFO #4
VCLFO #3 is hardwired to modulate VCLFO #4 and VCLFO #1
VCLFO #4 is hardwired to modulate VCLFO #1 and VCLFO #2

There be some huge amounts of modulation potential in this guy as well as audio screaming that'll scare not one but BOTH of your grandmas! :D Lol.

I'm seriously debating putting this prototype up for sale on e-Bay once he's completed. I only have a couple of small things to do now to finish it up in a nice carry-around portable package.

Lemme know what you think he would be worth to anyone out there he gets a kick out of making sounds that you wont find everyday in your nearest CD store! :D

Thanks for any input! :)

Bye buy boys and girl! ;)

Todd Barton Live with Buchla - Saturday, Nov. 3 Ashland, OR

one oscillator improv from todd barton on Vimeo.

"Dear Friends,

This Saturday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. at the DanceSpace 280 East Hersey Street in Ashland, Oregon I will be performing a solo analog synthesizer concert on a Buchla Electric Music Box.

I’ll be creating sounds from various tone generating modules then folding, unfolding, sculpting, twisting, caressing and distorting them into one long, free-wheeling improvisation.

And my pal, digital artist Bruce Bayard will be unfolding a collage of video images gathered from this past week. Hope you can join us.

Another way of looking at this sonic experience is that I will be creating an new electronic musical instrument which I will listen to and quickly learn its charaterictics/personality in order to learn to play it. I will then perform this new instrument and record it onto a track of my looper pedal at which point I will connect different modules together to create yet another new instrument, learn it, perform it, loop it . . . and so the process continues. . .

Like folding a square piece of paper into unusual and surprising shapes, think of this evening as sonic origami. Hope to see you there! All best wishes, Todd

Here’s a very rough sample of this process [embed above]

First Saturday Concert Series

TBA stands for Time-Based Art, or To Be Announced. With the first series complete, Todd and I are now moving into the next phase of monthly concert presentations. These performances will consist of various experiments in the audio and visual world. The next First Saturday concert is November 3, 8pm at the DanceSpace in Ashland. Todd Barton will compose an electronic score in the moment, using the Buchla synthesizer with a setting (patch) that creates a wonderfully expressive sound. I am putting together some video clips that I hope will find some resonant synchronization with Todd's music.

Tickets are $5 at the door.

Vince Clarke's Apex Ultimate Support Stand for Auction

"VINCE CLARKE'S (ERASURE VCMG DEPECHE MODE YAZ) AUTOGRAPHED ULTIMATE SUPPORT AX48B APEX 2-TIER KEYBOARD STAND

ladies and gentleman...
here for your consideration is...
an ultra rare…
and highly sought after piece…
from vince clarke's personal studio…
perhaps** the most important part of erasures sound! ??…
a vince clarke…
signature edition….
Ultimate….
Support keyboard....
stand!!!!!

**but probably not

a founding member of depeche mode, yaz, erasure and VCMG (a recent techno collaboration with former depeche mode band mate martin gore), vince clarke has greatly influenced countless electronic musicians, including us. its a real pleasure to have him as a customer.

https://twitter.com/thecabinstudio/

having recently moved from a spacious log cabin studio in maine to a smaller basement studio in new york city (see pics at vinceclarkemusic.com), vince decided to replace his free-standing ultimate support keyboard stands with space-saving wall-mount units and asked us if we wanted them. we agreed to take one off his hands to offer it to you folks here on ebay. now, vince is quite a modest guy who doesn't normally go around autographing his stuff, but after several very long and painful negotiations, he finally agreed to autograph this stand for you!

so why should you want this lovely keyboard stand? well, some might argue that this piece is a crucial part of the erasure sound! others might not. whatever the case, this awesome 2 tier ultimate support ax-48b apex keyboard stand would be a great place to put 2 of your beloved keyboards. designed to be quickly and easily assembled and disassembled, its ideal for gigging musicians who are in a rush. the arms come off in a matter of seconds and can be stored in the compartment on top of the stand. the 3 legs slide out from the compartment on the bottom of the stand. its great for studio use as well. see our pics above for a photo we took of this or one of the other similar stands in vince's maine cabin studio where it was ultimately supporting a Moog Minimoog and Roland Juno-106. and if you dont play keyboards, well, this item would probably make a rather handsome coat rack as well!

this particular stand is in very nice shape, with some typical scratches and dings but nothing worth mentioning in detail. the autograph is in silver marker which seems to be coming off slightly. we will likely tape a piece of paper over it before packing and shipping it but once you get it, you might want to apply a clear coat over it if you wish to preserve it. want more general info on the ultimate support ax-48b? please search the web. keyboards not included.

if this auction goes well, we may ebay a couple of the spare synths and drum machines vince traded us a while ago. we may also pick up some extremely exciting new items from vince, such as an ultra-rare vince clarke signature series snare drum stand / roland mpu-101 holder! (yes, really.)"

"Andromeda’s fully analog signal path is controlled by a high-speed Motorola Coldfire microprocessor, offering 16-voice polyphony with 16-part multitimbral capability. Andromeda features two analog oscillators per voice, with standard waveforms (available simultaneously), suboscillators, hard and soft sync, and more. It provides two analog filters per voice: these 2-pole (multimode) and 4-pole (lowpass) resonating filters are classically-derived designs, and offer you an astounding range of sonic variability.

Andromeda also provides external audio inputs that allow you to route any signal through its filters. Andromeda has three LFOs, each with six waveforms and many powerful features. It also has three 7-stage, 3-level envelopes capable of functions never before found in any analog synthesizer. An extensive mod matrix offers you an enormous freedom in configuring Andromeda’s sonic firepower, adding to its monstrous capabilities.

Andromeda’s 61-note synth-weighted keypad features velocity and aftertouch sensitivity, and its ribbon controlled offers multiple, assignable functions. A distinctive, futuristic front panel features 72 knobs and 114 buttons (the majority are single function), optimally arranged for rapid-fire tweaking and in-depth experimentation. Andromeda’s large, backlit LCD display provides real-world values of parameters (time, frequency, BPM, etc.) and high-resolution graphics. No other synth has ever offered such a sophisticated, informative control panel for creating analog pyrotechnics."

Chimera Synthesis bC16 - Tiny modular synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Patch and knob control sheet below.
"It's very compact (about the size of a CD) yet if features a wealth of modules which can be connected via patch cables. Astonishingly flexible: oscillator, LFO, ADSR envelope generator, VCA, VCF, noise source, ring modulation and MIDI interface all in this tiny package.

Key functions are controlled by sixteen color-coded potentiometers. Synthesizer sections are connected via thirty 2mm mini-banana sockets.Check the description below or the 3rd photo for more details about the controls and patch points.

The build quality is amazing. The thing feels totally solid, and all the knobs and jacks are firm yet smooth. It’s a modular synthesizer that you can hold in the palm of your hand. It’s incredible flexible, sounds good and can make all sorts of noises. You may even hook it up to a MIDI keyboard.

Unfortunately the one man company went belly up and ceased to exist quite some time ago. There are only very few of these synthesizers, rarely being offered for sale.

The device is in very good shape, without scratches, fully functional. It comes with a few patch cables to get you going.

The manufacturer says:

The bC16 miniature patch synthesizer packs a fully featured VCO, LFO, envelope generator, analog VCA, analog VCF, noise sources & ring modulator all in a CD sized case CNC machined from 10mm high-grade acrylic plastic.

Fifteen color coded potentiometers control key functions, connections between synthesizer sections are done using twenty-five 2mm mini-banana sockets.

Powered by either six AAA batteries or by an external (not supplied) 9 to 12v source, the bC16 can be used free standing (internal headphone amplifier), linked to an external keyboard/sequencer or MIDI-CV converters, combined with other bC16's, etc...

VCO: The complex VCO (actually two linked VCO's) waveshape can be adjusted through sine/triangle/sawtooth and square wave (with adjustable dutycycle). The VCO can be CV modulated (log response), FM modulated (linear response) or can be driven by MIDI NOTE values. The two linked VCO's can be offset using a control knob, CV or MIDI for rich complex tones.

LFO: Like the VCO the LFO is actually two linked low frequency oscillators with a host of modulation possibilties and waveshapes. Like the VCO the LFO can also be controlled via MIDI.

VCF: An all analog 24dB discrete ladder filter with variable cuttoff (knob and CV), adjustable resonance, specially designed to work from the low voltage busses in the bC16.

EG: The bC16 envelope generator is very easy to use, four knobs (or via MIDI) control the Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release parameters of the envelope. Set sustain to zero and the EG enters repeat mode for long VCS3 style modulation possibilites.

VCA & HEADPHONE AMP: An analog voltage controlled amplifier is provided along with an built-in headphone amplifier (volume control via grey knob)."
