Particularly well known are Donna Summer's disco hits produced by Moroder, including "I Feel Love". Moroder is also the founder of the former Musicland Studios in Munich, which served as a recording home for artists ranging from Led Zeppelin and Queen to Elton John for much of the 1980s and 1990s.Moroder was one of the producers of "Love to Love You Baby" Donna Summer's 17 minute opus along with Pete Bellotte. Moroder also produced a number of electronic disco hits for The Three Degrees, two albums for Sparks, and a variety of others including Swedish-born Madleen Kane, Melissa Manchester, Debbie Harry and France Joli.

"Moog little phatty analog synthesizer being voltage-controlled by a Moogerfooger CP-251 voltage processor. This turns the already powerful LP into a semi-modular workhorse. Still less modulation power than a stock Voyager - but easily on par with a modded Odyssey or CS-15. I still need to add the Moogerfooger ring modulator.
The CP-251 is a collection of classic Moog Modular circuits that perform a number of CV functions such as : LFO (square & triangle), Sample & Hold, Noise, Attenuators (x2), 4-input mixer, 4-way multiple, squarewave trigger out & a Lag processor. It's a great value and yet many people (including LP owners) are confused by just what this thing is for. Here's a little taste.

The Kaossilator is not used for the sounds itself. It is actually used instead of the MS-20 keyboard (using the ESP). So all sounds are coming from the MS-20!
The Kaossilator features give you other great possibilities and ways of playing the MS-20, which you wouldn't be able to using only the keyboard. You can change the key and BPM, choose out of 31 scale patterns, choose out of 50 appregiator gate patterns and of also very usefull: recording and looping a played sequence. In the mean while just tweak the MS-20 for the most crazy sounds..."

Update: "all of the sounds on the tracks posted on the Party Chambers MySpace page were recorded straight out of the PMA-5's 1/8" jack. (Even the 'guitar' sounds in the track "Sky Bar"!)
As far as drum sounds go, it has 808 & 909 sounds in it as well as some super cheesy 80's sounding 'power' drums (Which is odd, since the PMA is from '95 or '96 I think)."

Doug Curtis, just out of college, had won a design contest sponsored by Interdesign (later sold to Ferranti/GEC Plessey) and went on to work for Interdesign before founding Curtis Electromusic Specialties, later to fold into OnChip Systems. The founder of Interdesign and designer of the '555 timer chip, Hans Camenzind, still operates consultancy business in mask programmable analog semicustom IC, Array Design and has written the book Designing Analog Chips that is available free for download or as a print-on-demand hardcopy.

The polyphonic 4cv can be used to control system 100m modules, or any other compatable modular synth system (doepfer, analog solutions, analog systems etc). There is no reason too, if you really wanted to, that you couldn't use this to control one or more monophonic analog synths as long as they have appropriate cv/gate inputs."

images via this auction"The Polivoks is the most popular vintage Russian synth made in the early 80's - it was among the first synthesizers produced in the USSR. It had 2 oscillators with pulse or triangle waves, and 1 noise generator, the levels of which were controlled via the internal mixer. You could also connect an external input (guitar, electric piano etc) for mangling with the Polivoks' switchable high/low pass filter and LFO.
Polivoks had been produced since 1982 by Formanta electronic factory (one of the biggest at the time); it was sold exclusively in the USSR. Polivoks has its own particular electronic parts, reliable keyboard (49 notes F to E) made in magnetically controlled contacts; synthesis modules consist of independent boards, which is convenient for maintenance. The synthesizer has 2-voices polyphony; each oscillator works with a keyboard note independently; two types of filters - bandpass/lowpass and external input for cutoff control. In addition, Polivoks is housed in an original body of uncommon design with handy controls. Being closed with a cover, the synthesizer turns into a strong aluminum case.

"Lots of people describe it as a CS-80 little brother. I personnally own a CS-60, and I have to admit it's not only pretty damn close for lots of things, but it's better in many respect! The lead sounds of the 40m is definately fatter than the CS-60, due to the possibility to play 4 vco's in unison mode (2 vco's in duophonic). Filter section is multimode (HPF-BPF-LPF), resonant and the ring modulator is simply awesome! Actually, it's exactly the same as the CS-80.
You got 20 memories, which is pretty good for an analog synth! The VCO section ( Sine Saw Square, with PWM) has a HUGE range (64' to 2'), and modulation possibilities are practically unlimited. No wonder why Vangelis used it!"

The Echolution is a powerful dual delay pedal with modulated delay on one side and tap-tempo on the other. This demo is of just the modulation side. The multitap switches divide your delay time to the value marked (1/2, 1/3, PHI). There is a great loop function that would be great for sampling or general freakouts. It has reverse delay too! Near the end of the video we capture a loop, change it's speed then change the multitap switches. You can hear some pretty cool delay harmonies ring out. Wooh!

Programming the Korg Kpr-77

"This is the Korg KPR-77.
Neat little drum Machine with a warm tone. The toms sound great. Kick could use a little more depth, snare could use more snap... but the still sound neat, obviously. You could always do the Plutonique9 Mod and add a quick pitch ENV to the kick and a faster attack to the snare. I hear it sounds great! I had been intending to do the mod, but am instead selling the machine and switching to vintage samplers. Thought I would make a quick little video to help sell it, so here it is!
The KPR is a cool machine, but is mostly overshadowed by the Roland stuff, particularly the 606. The 606 does sound cool, but I think the KPR has much better toms. I personally think that the Boss DR-110 sounds better than both of these, but it lacks toms, and that's a bummer being that I love the analog tom sound. The KPR does sound very unique, sounds amazing with a little TLC in the EQ and Effects department and will definitely add a unique sound to your setup. Try dropping some of the Lower Mids a bit and boosting the Low. Delay is always great, and of course something to grunge it up is awesome too.
In the spirit of analog gear, I recorded all the audio of this video to my Tascam MSR-16 Reel-To-Reel through my analog Ramsa board, with absolutely no EQ or effects of any kind. What you hear is exactly what the KPR is!

The synth tracks were recorded on a Roland Jupiter-4, and the bass track was deliciously played by my friend and former classmate Ken Rich (thanks, Ken!). Many apologies for the boring video. Unfortunately, I'm so busy writing songs for Maison Vague's debut CD that I have very little time for making videos. Sorry.

Korg Poly 800 - What's wrong with it!?
YouTube via alecjahn. Sounds like it might need a new battery. I'd program some sounds or load the factory patches. If they don't keep after turning it off the battery is probably dead. You can find the presets at analog.no.

Just got this thing really cheap. It doesn't work, as the video shows, but I'm hoping someone can help me figure it out.
The synth is bone-stock, no modifications at all. I didn't jack around with settings on everything, this is how it is when you turn it on.
I had it plugged direct into my computer for an accurate recording of the output. There's no sound for the first couple seconds.
It's like part of it works, I assume maybe just an IC is out? Probably something vital and impossible to find? I know these things sound awesome, and I'd love to hear it someday.
Maybe I'm just ignorant of it's operation? I hope so. The buttons all work and you can still edit at least all the parameters I tested.

Sometimes I make mistakes when building these pedals. Thus why we make sure to triple check every pedal before they go out to you fine feathered fiends. We tend to get a little goofy in the shop sometimes with our noise devices, as it's hard not to jam out to the noise. In this example, I miswired a Bit Mangler, and decided to get a little touchy feely with the boards. I do not encourage other people to do this, only because I know someone, somewhere, somehow, is going to get themselves electrocuted attempting to make noise, and that would not be fun for me, or you."
