Sundays choral mass
YouTube via attorks — June 13, 2010 — "Ableton Live together with the Novation Launchpad is used for piece of music. This time no Modular was used. The three chord progressions using the Creamware MiniMax ASB in polyphonic mode forms the basis. After that 3 rhythmic tracks were added using instruments and sounds from Live. The solo is performed on the Clavia Nord Lead 1. Several takes where recorded and canceled before this one was approved because initially I wanted to use the arpeggiator from the Waldorf Q Keyboard to accompany the music but somehow that did not work. So the Waldorf Q does some Waldorf sounds. The Mellotron choir sound comes from the Roland XP-80. The music reminds me of church music, hence the title."

"Alternate tuning using a Q172 Quantizer Aid module from Synthesizers.com. The melody line played is through Lil' Miss Scale Oven (LMSO) from Red Barn Goat Farm into an Access Virus TI synthesizer. The three variations on the tuning are loaded into the Quantizer Aid module using midi from an instance of LMSO."
SVSynthesis Synth Repair

"I am a "new" synth repair/restoration/modification guy located in the Bay Area... I recently started a blog about stuff that comes through my shop, and I thought you might like to check it out. I take extensive pictures of the process I go through with each piece of gear, and post them up on my site, and I include sound files of the instruments when I have finished with the repairs."

"Here's an item dating to the earlier days of midi. The Kawai Q30 is a basic sequencer with a standard midi output. When originally marketed this unit was paired up with the classic Kawai K1 synth."

Vintage EMS Synthi A
"Serviced by EMS/Robin Wood last year. Only mod done was osc. stabilization. One osc pot/dial was needing changing. I have the original that comes with sale. Robin takes his time with these, takes about 6 months to a year waiting to get serviced. He does amazing work, plays as well as any anaolg of its caliber should play. Independent waveforms on osc 1-2... This one is so clean that Robin was taken aback by it and photographed it for his records. Not only that but it's the 33rd Synthi A ever made placing it around 1970. It has the internal metal backing that only the first
Radias 1984
YouTube via Rothgar777 — June 13, 2010 — "'1984' on a Korg Radias. I've always liked the sound of the Oberheim, OB-8 & OBXa and thought I'd give it a go on the Radias. This cover uses 3 custom patches to emulate the OBXa (the best I can :p, I've only had the Radias for 2 days now and still learning about it, its a deep synth). I needed both hands to play it, and without a tripod for the camera, I couldn't shoot the video while playing. If you want to learn how to play the song, there are how-to videos on youtube for 1984."

Techno in 6 sounds using nanoloop
YouTube via darenager — June 13, 2010 — "Nanoloop is an app for the iphone/ipad, it is a 6 part sequencer with sounds synthesized using FM, noise, pulse or sample. You can find out more about it by visiting www.nanoloop.com
This is my first attempt at using it for a track, it is quite easy to use and very minimal but quite interesting and a lot of fun. If you have an ipod touch, iphone or ipad and enjoy making music it is well worth checking out."

Ostracon Video
Ostracon Video from Unearthed Music on Vimeo.
"Shot by Ai student Josh Clos. Recorded and mixed at Ai Minnesota by John Keston and Graham O'Brien.
Ostracon is John Keston on electronics and Graham O'Brien on drums. The duo performs generative, improvisational compositions using John Keston's custom software, the GMS (Gestural Music Sequencer), that converts video input into musical phrases. Keston captures, layers, loops and processes melodic segments in real-time out of the stream of notes created by his gestural input, tailored with probability distribution algorithms. O'Brien accompanies these angular, electronic structures, with dynamic playing that, at times, verges on the chaotic."
ROLAND PG-1000 with Braille

"Here is my modified Roland PG-1000 with Braille labels. I use Braille since large print modifications would not fit in the small spaces on the programmer."
Roland TR-909 w/ Modded Bass Drum

"The bass drum has been modded with the Colin Fraser mods which include the following:
EXISTING CONTROLS:
Tune – Extended control over the decay time of the falling pitch envelope.
Decay – Extended control over the length of the bass drum allowing TR-808 like booming kicks.
NEW CONTROLS:
Pitch – Controls the frequency of the bass drum oscillator.
Drive – Allows waveform adjust from normal to square, for hard clipped sounds.

There's an audio demo at the auction while up.

VINTAGE KORG MS-04 SYNTHESIZER PITCH/MODULATION PEDAL
"The MS-04 was made to provide extra pitch bending and modulation sources to their MS line of synthesizers. You just patched the pedal into those synths and it greatly enhanced their options.
But you can use it on any CV controllable synthesizer (with attenuation.) It's main home was my Octave Cat SRM but I've used it with my Roland SH-09 as well. A cool thing too is that you can use the square wave to trigger events or as a clock for CV sequencers. Why would I do that? Well as I said at one point I didn't have the modular I do now. Waves on the LFO are square, triangle, random and the ultra-cool Glissando. Keep the glissando low for staircase effect, crank it up to thicken your sound and add some life to it.
You can find the manual here.
