Pink Noise Technology presents: OrangeMeetsPink eeprom for Double Andore

"The OrangeMeetsPink eeprom you are (hopefully) holding in your hand containins waveforms for the Harvestman Double Andore eurorack module. To be able to use those, you first have to install it into your Double Andore (doh!).

[image via Richard Devine on Facebook]

Don't worry, that's easy.

Start by locating the similar looking chip sitting in a socket on the back side of your Double Andore (there is only one). Note that the chip has a small cutout in one of the short sides, indicating direction (this cutout or similar indication of direction is in the socket holding the chip as well).

Now, CAREFYLLY remove the chip from the socket (inserting a small flathead screwdriver between the chip and the socket holding the chip, and carefully wiggling and turning the screwdriver usually does the trick. Be careful not to bend the legs of the chip, in case you want to switch back to using the original). Then, place the new eeprom in the socket, making sure it's positioned in the same direction as the old one (cutout matching socket cutout), and gently press it into place.

Reconnect your Double Andore, and you're done!

Waveforms
The OrangeMeetsPink eeprom contains two sets of 16 waveforms each. The first bank of 16
are the same as the ones on the original Double Andore eeprom (the Orange bank). By holding the CV select button until a small dot appear in the display for the choosen side you switch the Double Andore to using the second bank (the Pink bank) containing the following waveforms:

Accelerator goes Analog

effectus - 4 stereo effects for audulus

Published on Jul 20, 2013 sunsineaudio·18 videos

"Sunsine Audio is pleased to announce Effectus - 4 Stereo Effects for Audulus.
Effectus contains 4 stereo effects ready for standalone or Audiobus use.

Shifter -

Shifter contains a pitch shift section as well as a ring mod section. Both can be used independently or mixed together as well as mixed with the original signal. This is the free demo instrument.

Binary (Chop) and Binary (RIng) -

Binary is an amplitude modulator or gate device, and comes in two flavors. Binary (Chop) allows exploration of slower speed stereo gating effects while Binary (Ring) brings the amplitude modulation into the audio range, producing ring modulation effects with a different tone than the "traditional" ring modulation in Shifter produces.

Mothra -

Mothra is a sequenced and filtered reverb. Each input is individually fed through a network of distortion devices, simple low pass filters, and reverbs which are then delivered to a 16 step sequencer providing strange stereo and resonant spaces which can be "stepped" through.

Time Gap -

Time Gap is a filtered stereo delay with cross feed between the left and right channels. A simple high pass filter is followed by three delay units with two resonant low pass filters placed between them, delays can be cross fed at two points in the signal chain.

• 4 Stereo Effects
• 5 .audulus files

The Micro Modular Ensemble is an ensemble built around a small piece of legacy hardware called: The Micro Modular synthesizer.
Inside the red box anything can happen. All of the basic building blocks for synthesis are made available to the user.
The red box has been a trusted companion for Noise and New Music makers for over a decade.
The Micro Modular ensemble have chosen to rely solely on the little red box for it's focusing paradigm both in terms of timbre and control.

Unfortunately since I had only 1 hand free I couldn't tweak that much realtime and also had to move fast on switching between synths, so there might be some delays. Only pre-recorded tracks were the drums and the synth midi tracks, which was basically 1 loop. This is not a worked-out track, but maybe I will do so one day :-) No effects used, only some minor mastering/compression on the total mix."

New England Analog Pyxis Bass Demo

Published on Jul 20, 2013 New England Analog LLC·23 videos

"This is a video of us playing around with our prototype external touch pad for the NEA Pyxis aftertouch system. (This one here is our test model.) The sensor pad has many unique capabilities when interfaced with the Pyxis controller. This video is to demonstrate the percussive effects that are possible with the Pyxis. The tapping effect is created by routing the output voltage from the sensor pad to the vca and vcf. The more of the sensor signal that gets sent to either, the more pronounced the effect. Keep in mind that this is not intended to be a musically coherent demonstration, but a demonstration of the capabilities of the instrument. PixelH8 Music Tech RARE Gameboy Analog Synth Cart

"This auction is for a PixelH8 Music Tech cartridge. #53/100. I ordered this from him after reading a bulletin post on myspace in 2007. These never come up on eBay. This turns a Gameboy into a synthesizer. This can be used by beginners and advanced gameboy thrashers. Music Tech would be great for someone who just wants to punch in classic Nintendo synths and sound effects into tracks or live performances without sequencing knowledge, but it is also useful for performing leads when you have multiple synced gameboys allowing extra expression. Music Tech turns your gameboy DMG into a synthesizer. This is does not have a sequencer and there is no way to use this device via MIDI that I know of. It is a grail 8bit chiptune cartridge and a future museum piece for video game music aficionados.

The Music Tech cartridge works perfect. It will not be DOA. No Returns so plan to keep it. Auction includes 1 PixelH8 Music Tech Limited Edition Gameboy Cartridge with clear plastic case. Smurfette and other Nintendo accessories in photos are not included. Free USPS shipping in the US. International shipping can select between USPS Flat Rate Envelope or USPS Flat Rate Box. If you want expedited shipping let me know before you pay and I will get you an updated invoice. I'm going to let this go worldwide. Bidders with less than 5 feedback need to contact me before bidding or I reserve the right to retract your bids.

PixelH8 Music Tech: In the Sound Editor the features include.... Pitch Sweep (2 upward sweeps -like mario jumping and hitting coins in slow motion / 2 downward - falling off the cliff in two speeds), Wave Duty (4 square wave shape variations), Vol Envelope (5 different envelopes), Octave (4 octave range), Special (a 2 part chorus or a 3 part chorus) and Crazy (different combos take you into the awesomeness of favorite nintendo sound effects). After adjusting the levels of the editable parameters on in the Sound Editor you are sent into Player Mode where you perform sounds "keyboard style" triggering sounds on the pad controls with up, down, left, right, select and start."

"The RS-202 is fully polyphonic (all 61 keys can play simultaneously). Basically three sound presets are in the RS-202: Strings I, Strings II and Brass. it was considered Roland's finest string machine. Strings I covers low cello & bass type sounds and Strings II is thinner and in the higher registers for Viola and Violin type sounds.

The keyboard is permanently split into two separate sections, the lower 2 octaves and the upper 3 octaves. Each section has it's own set of identical controls. These include three white On/Off buttons for each of the three sound presets. This means you can assign any sound to each section, and any combination; For example, set the lower section to Strings II and set the upper section to Strings I+II+Brass if you like. There are also two grey buttons in each section for "Slow Attack" and "Volume Soft". Each section also has its own sustain slider and there are global brilliance sliders for the brass and string sections independently.

Basic effects included the Ensemble (chorus) effect and Vibrato. A switching-slider is used to select Ensemble I, Ensemble II or Off. The Vibrato effect section had just two sliders: Delay and Speed (depth could not be changed). The Ensemble section did wonders for the sound of this machine; the 'Ensemble II' setting introduced a rich chorus, whereas the 'Ensemble I' produced the faster, deeper ensemble effect that became an instant classic..."

"Buchla 100 - Action Theme 2

Mainly testing out a Buchla format Verbos Harmonic generator 262v
with the Buchla 100.
The origins of the 262v stem from the Buchla 148 harmonic oscillator
of the late 60's which used a single sawtooth oscillator & waveshapers to
create 9 harmonics above the fundamental.

The modern 262v puts out saw, triangle, pulse & square.
These are mixed using a 107 VC mixer/114 touch controller.
I've fm'ed the 262v with a 258 and on mixer channel 8 passed the fundamental
through a 292 gate/LPF.
A 180 Dual attack Gen provides some modulation to the 292.

The 262v is a beautiful sounding VCO ;-)"

MATRIXSYNTH Turns 8!

Today marks the eight year anniversary of MATRIXSYNTH!

I usually go a bit in depth on what it takes to run the site, but this year I thought I'd keep things relatively short and just focus on what the site means to me and why it exists in the grand scheme of things. I'd also like to ask you what MATRIXSYNTH means to you. Please share in the comments below.

For me the site is a daily log of everything synth from the perspective of us, the users of synths, with the focus on the individual synths. With a few exceptions, each post showcases and features individual synths that you can clearly identify and get a feel for. It's a day in the life of synths. It's what was put out there each and every day and in time we'll be able to look back and see what was shared by the community every single day since July 20, 2005 (minus Aug 6, 2005). You might notice I don't interject much in posts. There is a reason for that. I believe things should be presented as they were meant to be presented by the creator of the content. It's my job to share what is out there unbiased. It's up to you to take whatever you want from it. MATRIXSYNTH in essence is a weblog in its truest sense.

The original non-weblog MATRIXSYNTH launched in October of 1997 and was a simple site with links to various synth portals on the web. If you take a look, you can see what sites were out there before the current format of MATRIXSYNTH launched. Before MATRIXSYNTH, print magazines and online synth portals primarily focused on full articles - press releases, professional reviews, interviews and tutorials. What was missing was what us the users of synths were doing with our gear on a daily basis. Most publications would likely turn you away if you had something to share unless you were a known artist, manufacturer or other influential. The DIY and circuit bending scene? Not covered. Botique manufacturers? Not covered. MATRIXSYNTH was the first to bring it all to you. Back then if you wanted to share anything you had to host your own website. YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, SoundCloud, Twitter, and so on were not out yet. I created MATRIXSYNTH in its current format in 2005 to capture and share what I came across. The site gained in popularity and soon people were sending in things they found or created on their own to share with others. The site has remained true to this since day one.

MATRIXSYNTH is a site that celebrates and showcases what we, the people passionate about synthesizers, are doing with our synths on a daily basis. It is a site that celebrates the synthesizers we love, all synths, old and new, simple and complex. All synths have character, all synths are special, all synths can be explored and discovered. It's about the exploration of sound, and not just traditional tonal music. Like an artist discovering palates of color, we discover palates of sound. Synthesizers are our gateway to the exploration of unheard timbres. MATRIXSYNTH celebrates that.

THANK YOU for helping make this a great site!!!

For those interested in numbers, this post marks number 96,509 published to date.  Every single post on the site has gone up by hand, and since the site's launch on July 20, 2005, there has been only one day missed, August 6, 2005.   Back then I had no idea there would be something to post every single day of the year.  Little did I know.   The site currently averages about fifty posts a day, seven days a week, 364 days a year (Christmas is the one day I take it easy).   What goes up is a combination of what you the readers send in and what I come across out there.   According to Google Analytics the site has had 37,074,619 pageviews from 16,976,707 visits since the site launched, while Site Meter shows 39,630,44 pageviews from 18,469,084 visits.
