"Grendel Drone Commander, a hand-built Dual Oscillator Analog Synthesizer housed in an amazing Ammo Cartridge Box. This is an incredibly expressive synthesizer, and includes the Original Power Supply and Owners Manual. Please read the description below, and also check out the Youtube videos. Snatch up this one before I plug it into an analog delay and change my mind !

With a total of 9 knobs, the Drone Commander offers two manually-tuned oscillators and two LFOs, plus an unusually colorful and nasty filter. LFO1 is an analog variable-shape oscillator, and LFO2 is a pulse waveform that auto-synchronizes to LFO1 at a ratio of 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x. Both LFOs can be routed to the filter for rhythmic patterns. A line-level output jack is provided for connection to amplifiers or effects.

Six of the Drone Commander's nine knobs double as push-pull switches to control signal routing and waveform selection.

The Drone Commander is housed in a dark green military ammunition case with engraved aluminum control panel. The case is welded steel with an easily removable, rubber gasketed lid. There is almost no plastic in the drone commander! It measures 10″(w) x 7″(h) x 3.5″(d), and weighs about 6 lbs.The unit is powered by a 9V battery accessible through a slide-out drawer in the side, as well as a 9VDC adapter.

Filter CV input (0-10V) and clock pulse output (+8V) are now standard features."

It is super awesome, and will be a great addition to any Buchla system. Original 200 series modules rarely ever come up for sale and i have never seen a 281 for sale publicly so don't miss out! This module has been converted to a current EDAC type power connector and can fit into a modern Buchla system. This module is an odd module, the faceplate is original, i believe the PCBs are newly etched (i'm not 100% sure on this but it's slightly more yellow than my other two 281s, which makes me think it's newer), the components are modern as are the knobs."

Doepfer A-190-4 USB/Midi to CV/ Sync Interface Prototype

"A few weeks ago, on July 13, Dieter Doepfer personally appeared at a modular synthesizer workshop in a shop in Munich, Germany, together with a huge Monster Base rack filled with Doepfer modules and an LCB angled basic case with some of the newer modules like the earlier announced A-157 Trigger Sequencer subsystem and the A-190-5 Polyphonic MIDI-to-CV/Gate Interface.

The two-part workshop was very well attended: 50 synth freaks (newcomers and advanced users) followed Dieter Doepfer’s explanations and presentations with enthusiasm.
Although i wasn't there, it can see what an amazing event this must have been; the A-100 modular system explained by its inventor...

Besides all the new A-100 modules there was also a prototype of an A-190-4 USB/Midi to CV/ Sync Interface, that hasn't even been announced yet..."

The SQ16 offers several functions for extra fun and games, like delay, arpeggio and rotate.

Some nice features of the SQ16

Notes can be recorded into it, they don't have to be programmed. Also, you can record the notes on a midi channel of your choice that may be different from the channel that the track transmits. It has an arpeggiator, and you can record the arpeggiated notes into sequencer patterns. There is a rotate function that can shift and do unpredictable things to the step play position, allowing interesting pattern variations. Patterns can be chained or combined into songs (14 song steps with up to 32 repeats of each). There are 64 patterns and 8 songs, but these can be saved into one of 8 memory blocks (with all parameters). The midi set concept allows a pattern to be quickly mapped into one of 16 midi sets that define the midi channels for each track (and note numbers for the drum tracks).

"I can't take full credit for the paper circuit idea. Peter Blasser was the first artist I knew of working with paper as a circuit substrate. There are scores of others by now.

The idea here is not to use the paper circuit as a finished product, but as an educational tool to facilitate rapid prototyping of very simple circuits in a way that is easy for the beginner to understand how connections are supposed to be made.

Prototyping with perforated circuit boards may offer a more rigid and durable solution, however, in the classroom setting it can become difficult to illustrate exactly what connections need to be made.

Though printed paper circuits are not as rigid or durable, they do provide a platform by which students can learn basic circuit assembly skills before moving on to basic CAD circuit design.
