"The Electribe is playing a heavy bass with some midi-sequenced Volca Keys deep crunch on top. The Volca Bass is playing a high pitched sequenced loop. The microKORG XL is playing an arpeggiated pad and I'm playing the lead melody line on the MT25d and making a little 'piano'-loop on the Kaossilator on the fly.

Original track, sequenced and live play. No DAW involved. Recorded on Korg miniKP2

The 'work in progress' name of this track is 'Slow Shot' and refers to my thoughts on the Paris incident early this January: If all people where slower on the trigger (either metaphorical or actual) the world would be a different place. I named the track 'Etos' (ethos) which IMO covers my string of thoughts on the subject, and makes this the second track in my Patos, Etos, Logos track-trilogy. These three are commonly known as the means of persuasion but respectively also covers important parts of living. Here not just making something or someone seem credible, but actually be credible or maybe ethical if you will.

The video contains footage of my daily drive to work."

After 30 seconds of technical info what the highly specialized midicontroller does and how to wire it up, the video shows 4 little one-minute-demos. First the famous Preset C15 "LatelyBass" is tweaked into a mellow portamento bell sound. Second demo on preset C27 'Xylophone' shows course tunings on the 4 operators to get some nice chords. Third demo on preset A17 'PercOrgan' concentrates on the 'Reverb Rate' parameter of the TX81Z and the LFO for pitch- and amplitude-modulation. The fourth part demonstrates how to automate and remote TX81Z parameters with ordinary midi control change (CC) messages, using the programmers built in CC-to-SysEx-translator. So your cut off can have a flat curve or a more steep and aggressive reduction of sound above (above in low pass, around both sides in band pass) the cut off point. With the resonance response curve you go from a flat resonance response to Polivoks. There's also resonance CV, cut off CV and a secondary CV with attenuverter and crossfader to select whether it affects resonance or cut off or both as you fade around the knob.

The first third of the performance I’m manually working the Audio Mixer, DTG and VQVCF while looping (RC-3). The middle third is a preprogrammed sequence from the TKB using 3 oscillators and 2 DSG’s for filtering/eg – no looper from here on out. "This is a DEMO of the 15 presets of this powerful Italian vintage synth. At the end of the video we have fun changing the VCO, VCF VCA and portamento controls. At the very end the Random Music push button is pressed, a sort of Sample and Hold. No effect is used and only the raw signal has been recorded. Obviously with some delay, reverb, compression the already good tones of the instrument can improve dramatically. Thanks to Claudio Laucci who has helped me in finding and playing some of the melodies and the rest."

TAL-BassLine-101 is a monophonic bass synthesizer and a very accurate emulation of the popular hardware device. The GUI is intuitive and easy to use. It produces the raw sound you know from analogue devices without any effects.
Its 24dB zero feedback delay low pass filter has a very smooth and authentic sound without any digital artifacts, especially designed and calibrated for extreme settings. It sounds even smooth with a lot resonance and a high oscillator pitch where most emulations fail.
Details as envelope transitions between overlapping notes are carefully modeled. The oscillators do not use any samples. TAL-BassLine-101 generates all wave-forms in real time. Filter-FM allows it to choose an oscillator waveform as modulation source for the filter cutoff. This additional feature can be used to create a wide range of new sounds."

"This is a rough re-recording of something I uploaded 4 years ago, but then removed because I wasn't happy with it. I'm not completely happy with this version either, but I thought I'd share it for now at least. The bass part is mostly the Minitaur, with the Micromoog repeating it towards the end. The melodic pattern is one track of the Minibrute, using the noise slider to mimic the sound effects from the Micromoog that were overdubbed onto the original recording. The last 2 solo parts were overdubbed using the Micromoog, but the rest was recorded live in one take, as you can see in the video, and the layout of parts and sound changes largely improvised. It was recorded onto a Zoom R24, then imported into Reaper (DAW), and roughly mixed through an old Lexicon reverb plugin. I don't do 'finesse'.

The birds featured are a Kestrel and a Buzzard, filmed on a windy day. Cameras used were a Panasonic GX7 and GH2."
