"1 of 2 made by the legendary Thomas Henry- Midwest Analog Products Drumbox. Contains kick and snare engines with 2 voices for the snare drum. Individual triggers and outputs for both, as well as a mix output. Also includes KADI in for triggering pre MIDI devices / drum machines. Completely hand made. Excellent condition, the only flaws being those of it's original hand-made nature. This thing is incredible- only selling to thin out some of my lesser used items for a new studio purchase. Comes with power cable. NOTE: The video shows the master volume with a blue 'Paia' style knob. I installed a black knob on it before the pictures were taken. I will include the original blue one"

"Oberheim OBXA in great working condition. Serviced in the last 12 months. Sounds amazing. All 8 voice cards work and are in tune. I don't even need to press the auto tune button as the voice cards have been fine tuned extremely well. The keys have also had some work done, the action feels great. I spent a lot of time and money getting this Oberheim up to scratch and I won't be seeing a profit from this sale. Reason I'm selling is because I'm moving into a smaller apartment and simply won't have the space. There is one issue I have with the keyboard in that sometimes when I turn the keyboard on it doesn't make a sound. I tend to just turn it off and then on and again and it works fine. I've talked to my keyboard tech about this (who happens to have an OBXA as well) and he believes it to be an under voltage when it comes to the battery which is a common thing to happen for these OBXAs. So it should be a simple fix..."

Dinky's Taiko-Test 2

Published on Aug 15, 2015 PaulLawlerMusic

"Dinky's Taiko is being triggered by Grids, which is also triggering the BD909 for the 4/4 Kick. I also have an LFO modulating the End Freq on Dinky's. The whole signal is then going through the Z-DSP Delay.

JX10 & MKS70 Display

Published on Aug 15, 2015 Guy Wilkinson

"Here is a video of my latest home project; a replacement display for the Roland JX10 and MKS70 Synthesizers. Note that blinking characters on the display don't blink regularly due to video editing.

To attach a new display to the synth and display the basic text is quite straightforward but getting the best out of a modern VFD module using fancy fonts and graphics is much more complicated when linking it to a 30 year old electronic design.

It all began when Frédéric Vecoven had developed a replacement operating system for these synthesizers and kindly invited me into his project to contribute. Fred had developed an extensive set of software tools to allow full simulations of the synths and VFD displays, making the job a lot easier for me as all code could be developed and tested on a Linux or OSX Platform without real hardware. It meant that it worked almost perfectly when running on real JX10 for the first time.

Fred’s JX10/MKS70 software provides additional data in order to make an elegant design of display layout. Tone edit is particularly well enhanced as is the play mode and function display.

In this demo, the display is powered by the JX10 but could also be powered separately if wanted. Careful design of the new circuit, PCB and routing of power in the JX appears to have removed the 'hum' that you can just about hear in the noise floor of the standard JX. The hum is caused by the refresh scheme in the old VFD display and I expect to demonstrate a lower noise floor in final testing when the first bare PCB arrives next month.

Soon I will release details and there will be a viable solution to replace a failed display!"

Quick note: the video is on the display replacement only. The music is for background purposes only and was not created using the Roland JX-10 or MKS-70.

Frames Parasite - 1. Shift Register Sequencer

Published on Aug 15, 2015 mqtthiqs

"First demo/tutorial of the Frames Parasite free alternative firmware for Mutable Instruments Frames. More information and download at http://mqtthiqs.github.io/parasites."

High level summary:

"Frames Parasite is an alternative firmware for Frames. It adds the following main features to the module:

a new quad Euclidean sequencer mode that turns Frames into a quad algorithmic drum sequencer with built-in envelopes, VCA and mixer.

a new Shift Register sequencer mode that turns Frames into a live random canon generator.

an improved quad sequencer mode with sequence randomization and a step edition mode to easily enter sequences in sequencer mode.

a new user interface to easily switch between modes (no more hard-to-remember button combos). There are five modes: keyframer, quad sequencer, shift register sequencer, quad LFO, quad Euclidean sequencer.

four additional memory slots to save and load presets (sequences, mode, parameters etc.).

All features of the official firmware are left untouched and still accessible."

"Two eurorack cases connected together with nice wooden panels with ever so slightly different specs as follows ;

Top Case
Eurorack case with UK power supply (which was not supplied when I bought it). Depth is approximately 35mm above power supply which takes up approximately 10HP. Approximately 19HP either side of the power supply has a depth of approximately 55mm. Custom flexible power rail with 8 power headers (+5v adaptor compatible). The rails are sliding nuts.

Bottom Case
Eurorack case with UK power supply (which was not supplied when I bought it). Depth is approximately 35mm above power supply which takes up approximately 10HP. Approximately 19HP either side of the power supply has a depth of approximately 55mm. Modules are connected to floating female bus cable. The rails are sliding nuts."

"All original components and in working condition. Serial number is 00099.
Case is in solid shape, has all keys, switches, wheels and knobs.
The wood case use a little sanding and oil and the contacts can get sticky. The 3 oscillators generally warm up after 10-15 minutes and get loose after 45-60 minutes sustained usage.
Otherwise this Mini MOOG has always been stored in either the studio or in an environmentally controlled storage area and is in remarkable condition.
A great collectible or studio piece with room to increase its value with just a little surface TLC."

"Function demo for anyone who's interested in purchasing this synth. Up for sale on Ebay now."

"It came with the factory cv upgrade which adds cv, gate and trigger inputs/outputs as well as the audio input to the filter which is very useful. All keys trigger, every function works, all switches and sliders work well, tuning is stable, internals are sound, power supply and all in/out jacks tested good.

This synth is clean inside and out.The sliders were dismantled, tested, internals replaced where needed and then slightly lubed so they feel great and operate as Arp originally intended. All slider caps are original Arp caps. New key bushings are installed so the keyboard is a pleasure to play plus the keys are nice and clean. Key contacts and buss were also recently polished in preparation for a new owner."

Dinky's Taiko First Test

Published on Aug 15, 2015 PaulLawlerMusic

"The very first few minutes with the Dinky's Taiko module, triggered by Grids.
As with most of my modular videos, I wanted to film the first few minutes with a new module, rather than giving an in depth, thorough presentation of something I have worked with for ages. I always find the instant modules to be the ones I go back to most often.

4SEQ acid waves - Piston Honda & VC303

"Some sampling for a future remix.
I'm using 2 sequencers:a Intellijel metropolis (sequencing the VC 303) & a nonlinearcircuits 4SEQ - morphing through some wavetables on the Piston Honda.

The 4SEQ has two CV outputs that are the reverse of each other. Eg if outX is counting 1,2,3,4 then outY counts 4,3,2,1. There are also gate outputs that are /2, /4, /8 & /16 divisions of the clock signal.
