Studio Electronics P-Five: Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 Rackmount Synthesizer

via this auction

"Rackmount Prophet 5 For Sale! This unit has had one owner since purchase, and has been kept in a professional recording studio with proper power conditioning for its entire life. Recently serviced, and in perfect working order."

Update: for those not familiar with the P-Five, Studio Electonics used to convert Prophet-5 into this format. It's the internals of a Prophet-5 in a rack with a new faceplate. SE did the same with the Minimoog Model D (MIDIMINI) and the Oberhiem OB-8 (Obie Eight).

Patch Notes #11 - Analog Shift Register with Ornament & Crime

Published on Aug 3, 2016 Voltage Control Lab

"Patch Notes in the description! Our musical exploration of the Analog Shift Register function in Copier Maschine mode in the marvelous Ornament & Crime DIY Eurorack module.

The Analog Shift Register sequences are being triggered by Make Noise Tempi into the Tr1 input on Ornament & Crime. A channel of Make Noise Maths acts as the S&H CV source routed through the external influence input on the Wogglebug, then out of the stepped random output into the CV1 input on the O&C. Channel A of the O&C is routed to the Sputnik Oscillator, B to the Malekko Anti-Oscillator, C to Mutable Braids, D to the Tiptop Z3000.

All of the oscillators are in tune, each sending a triangle wave out to the Malekko Mix4, which is routed up to Mutable Ripples filter. Out from the LP4 output on Ripples into a channel on the Make Noise Optomix low pass gate. The filter cutoff on Ripples is modulated by the cycling channel 1 on Maths, which in turn is being modulated by the smooth random output from the Wogglebug.

Another channel from Tempi is used to trigger the Intellijel Dual ADSR, which is modulating the Optomix channel in time with the sequence shifting. Channel C on the Malekko Varigate is routed to retrigger the envelope to add some randomized polyrhythmic action to the chords.

The bass is coming from the Make Noise DPO, receiving a 12 step sequence from the Korg SQ-1 which is being clocked from Tempi. The Final output is routed through the Make Noise MMG filter in low pass mode, and on to another channel on the Optomix, which is being modulated by an envelope on the Malekko ADLFO (triggered by the SQ1 sequence).

A channel from Pressure Points is routed to the external FM in on the main channel on the DPO, with the four steps tuned to harmonically modulate the sequence when that touchplate is triggered.

The kick is coming from the Malekko Dual Borg/Envelator combo, the snare from the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas, and the hihat from the Scooper, both drums routed through the Scooper inputs and out along with the hihat sound. Each pattern is programmed and triggered from the Varigate, which is being clocked and reset by Tempi.

The mix output from the Optomix is routed through the delay in Mutable Warps Parasite firmware.

Reaktor Blocks West Kept Secrets vol.1

Published on Aug 3, 2016 VoltageCtrlRtv

"West Kept Secrets Vol.1 is a collection of live improvised modular synth compositions inspired by the west coast synthesis perspective explored by composers like Morton Subotnick, Don Buchla, Charles Cohen and Todd Barton. Even though the compositions are influenced by the aforementioned composers, I embark on a sonic journey adding my own experiences and influences to this creative school of thought.

This project is made with Native Instruments Reaktor6 Blocks software and an analog modular synthesizer.

Each ensemble includes all the snapshots that were saved as I performed the patch plus a lot of snapshots not recorded on the project for you to explore.

Arp Odyssey 2800 MK1 Analog Synthesizer w/ Joystick & CV Mods

via this auction

"This is the original Arp Odyssey. It is in decent condition. It hasn't been beat up or abused. A few discolored spots (adds character). The keyboard functions as it should. All the keys work and none stick. It has a good synth action feel. All the functions seem to work, but, not being an analog expert and not knowing how parameters interact with each other, sometimes things don't do anything, thus, it is being sold as is. Still, It is capable of makeing those smooth warm analog sounds. The nice thing about this unit is that it comes with a joy stick. The drawback of the Odysseys was the pitch knob. The joy stick adds control of pitch and filter as well as oscillator mix. This joy stick is rare. A web search failed to find one for sale. It can also be used with other analog synths including modular as long as they are properly wired up. Full disclosure: The cv, gate and trig I/O has been added. I am able to send signal to another voltage controlled unit, but, the osc 1, 2 and gain controls do nothing. One cap on a slider is missing. (pulse width mod). The ground prong has been cut off the power plug. The white balance is off in some of the pictures. It is white not yellow. Detailed item info refers to ac adapter, there is an internal power supply. Comes with foot switch for portamento. It will probably be shipped in two packages, one with the synth, and, one with the controllers. Save shipping by picking it up in Prescott Arizona. I will ship outside the US but it will be more expensive."

VGM #81: Protoman's Theme (Mega Man 3)

Published on Aug 3, 2016 Ace Waters

"Also known as Whistle Concert, I was inspired to cover Protoman's Theme while watching a good friend complete Mega Man 3 at my house, which tends to be the case when I cover most Mega Man music.

No BTS video this week. This video ended up taking a lot longer than expected and I just have too much other stuff on my plate right now. Including:

WHERE ARE YOUR VGM ALBUMS??? You might be asking. Well, I had to take them off of Loudr due to some issues I was having over there. I am in the process of getting them back online and available for you all, but its going to take a little while. I will make an update video when they are back online!

In the meantime, if you really want to not only get all of my VGM albums, as well as every album I have ever made AND support the channel in a huge way, head over to Patreon and check out the Discography level of support: https://www.patreon.com/acewatersmusic

MFB Dominion 1 wobbly slider fix

Published on Aug 3, 2016 Vykaar Tones

"I used short lengths of rubber sleeving to make the sliders of this amazing synthesizer less wobbly."

Thought this was an interesting and simple solution worth posting for slider based synths in general. Just be sure to check it over the years to be sure it doesn't break down over time. Not saying it will, but I guess it depends on what you use and any friction over time.

So here it is with some audio in the background which is me jamming on my Beatstep Pro and Euro-Drum rack. I may upload the audio separate as it probably deserves some attention ... I like it! :)
