Jupiter Clone - Voice Board PCB first sounds

Published on Oct 18, 2016 tiergrinder

"First sounds from the Jupiter 'Heart' PCB.
This is recorded right after I got the first board finished and oscillators tuned.

Each PCB contains two Jupiter '8' voices. Each packing with 2 VCO's, Osc Sync, Cross Modulation, All the VCF and VCO modulations and 2 envelope generators.

These voicing PCB's are controlled with 30-wire ribbon cable that sends the slider and pot data each board."

via the seller: "This 2600 is special. I have photos of Alan Pearlman with this particular synth. I've owned it for 20 years, and it's been lovingly maintained and restored by Chip @ Curtis Electronics in Planview NY, a former ARP technician himself. This particular model has unpotted modules, and is incredibly stable. The duophonic keyboard is included and working. One speaker is dead- but the output is still working. Some slider shafts are broken in the inverter section, but still work. Custom 1/8" mogami patch cables are included, and the case lids are present too."

Cwejman MMF-1S Tweak Demo

Published on Oct 18, 2016 Dudadius

"The MMF-1S offers seven switchable filter types and for some of them two selectable slopes. In combination this equals eleven different filter:

Low pass with -12 or -24dB per octave
High pass with -12 or -24dB per octave
Bandpass with -6 or -12dB per octave
Three dual band passes: dual peak, upper peak, lower peak
Single notch (in -12dB setting), dual notch (in -24dB setting)
The show stopper is that in the dual modes the distance between the two resonance peaks can be adjusted with the voltage controllable parameter SPACING which is great for creating vocal sounds!

The two audio inputs both have individual level controls; cutoff and resonance of course are voltage controllable. The Q PEAK MODE switch determines whether the resonance starts to oscillate in its maximal setting or not. The filtered signal is emitted at the MMF socket.

The second part of the module is comprised of a saturation stage which distorts the signal in a nonlinear fashion. Besides the voltage controllable Saturation parameter which sets the amount of saturation, there's a 2ND HARM control emphasizingthe second order harmonics.

A compressor with three selectable compression rations (1:1, 3:1 and 20:1) is integrated in the saturation stage as well.

The saturated signal is available at the MIX VCA socket, yet the result depends on the VCA/MIX switch and the MIX control:
In switch position "MIX" the MIX parameter blends between the original signal (AUDIO 1&2) and thefiltered/saturated result (SAT). This can be voltage controlled via the "CV VCA-MIX" socket.

In switch position "VCA" the MIX control has no effect and the CV input "VCA-MIX" turns into the VCA's CV input."

Hawkeye - Fuel (dawless live Kawai K5000, Roland V-Synth, Alesis A6)

Published on Oct 18, 2016 Maelstroem3

"Hey, had a little fun with some samples from an old car information system - 1980s era - this reminds me of childhood and i especially love the modulation on the "door is *open*" sample. Man, you forgot to close it! Bad driver! :-)

All was recorded live directly to a 2-channel tascam .wav recorder, just added a little bit of compression after recording. No DAW was abused!

Gear in use:
* Roland V-Synth for sample and slight sample manipulation
* overexcessive use of a Strymon Big Sky
* Kawai K5000r for additive pad stuff in the middle section, modulating the harmonic spectrum with the K5000 datawheel :)
* Alesis A6 with a slightly over-time-detuned (yes, this was intentional) lead
* FS1r for the first FM-bassline
* Little Phatty through DIY Polivoks for the second bassline
* E-MU Ultra and Elektron Machinedrum for drums
* all sequenced by the almighty MIDIbox SEQ v4, thanks to Thorsten Klose, this sequencer allows so many people to go completely DAWless and have fun without pushing a mouse :-)

Thanks for watching and listening, hope you had some fun!

Oberheim OB-8 Synthesizer Recently Serviced

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"As far as functionality goes, this synth is working very well! It was recently tuned up by the very trusty technicians at Analog Labs in New York City. This included fixing one of the LED lights on the panel, a cleaning of the interior, and a full calibration to factory specs. All of the synths controls and functions were inspected and made sure to be working properly. The keys will stick on occasion or need to be pressed hard to make a sound- particularly the most upper keys. This is due to the design of the key contacts and this issue occurs in all OB-8s. If you have a tech (or do it yourself!) clean the key contacts and dust buildup inside the key bed, this should stop the keys from sticking."

New MMO-4 Digital, Semi-Modular, Analog Style Hardware Synthesizer by Nozoïd

MMO-4 from chnry on Vimeo.

Update: "Demonstration of the MMO-4 synthesizer from http://www.nozoïd.com"

via Nozoïd

"coming soon!

MMO-4 is a digital, semi-modular, analogue style synthesizer. Build around Frequency Modulation Synthesis (FM), this synthesizer is mostly dedicated to atonal sound generation. From fat drone to percussive noise, MMO-4 offer a rich and complex timbre control.

Why is it so special?
Unlike most FM synthesiser, the MMO-4 is not limited to specific modulation routing. All four oscillators can modulate/be modulated by all oscillators. Modulation parameters are accessible thanks to 12 knob for a continuous adjustment of the timbre.

It also offer a custom amplitude modulation technique where each oscillator amplitude can be modulate prior to a wave shaper in order to add harmonics without frequency variation.

Also, a joystick allows an easy manipulation of most parameters, for a fast and expressive control of the sound.

What is inside?
30 control knobs
A joystick to control modulation parameters
4 oscillators
4 waveshaper
1 MIX (4 channels)
FM and Wave shaping modulation
1 LFO with configurable waveform and modulation control
1 ADSR
A very powerful digital connection matrix
2 octaves keyboard with portamento
1 digital matrix to control the oscillators modulations
1 Stereo line IN with envelope follower and gate control
1 Stereo audio OUT
1 MIDI input (note / velocity / pitch wheel / control change)
1 analog CV IN and 1 GATE IN"

"Sound of the VCF OCS-2 synthesizer. A sawtooth waveform at constant frequency is pass throw the VCF. The VCF cutoff is changed via a LFO.

the resonance factor (Q) is manually adjusted during the recording."

via Nozoïd:

"OCS-2 is a digital, semi-modular, analogue style synthesizer. Small, but very powerful and flexible, it provide an incredible sound quality. Dedicated to knob addict, this synthesizer is full of feature that define it’s own unique sound.

Why is it so special?
First, the sound quality is impressive : this is not a cheap 8 or 16 bits synthesizer : it implement state of the art audio synthesis algorithm.
OCS-2 provide lot’s more than the essential of a modern dual oscillator monosynth. Original waveform, shape morphing LFO, there is a lot of unique feature :

30 control knobs
Few atypical waveform with incredible fat sound
LFO that can continuously change waveform
A CV GENERATOR with different algorithm to generate random to rhythmic modulation
4 audio effects
A very powerful digital connection matrix
A light sensor to control sound with hand gesture
Customizable and possibility for software update
Very compact
Incredible sound quality

What is inside?
2 VCO providing 15 different waveform
1 VCF (multi-mode, including a 24db/Octave low pass resonant filter)
1 VCA
1 ADSR
3 LFO (2 with configurable waveform, 1 with CV frequency control)
1 custom CV GENERATOR with 4 different algorithms (Attack Release, dual LFO, Random, Non Linear)
1 audio effects processor with 4 different effect (Distortion, delay, bitcrush, waveshaper)
1 ring modulator
1 CV controlled MIX (for VCO1 and VCO2)
2 octaves keyboard with portamento
1 digital matrix to connect CV to modulation fader
1 Stereo line-IN with envelope follower and gate control
1 MIDI input (note / velocity / pitch wheel / modulation wheel / control change)
3 analog CV IN and 1 GATE IN
1 light sensor
Why will you love it?
Since it is very small, you can carry this synthesizer everywhere. You can even use a 9V battery as power supply. With an embedded audio multi-effect, you don’t need anything else!
But this synthesizer can also adapt to your setup: add a midi keyboard and your ready for endless jam.
OCS-2 is also perfect as a computer complement : prepare some midi loop and use them in combination with the modulation faders as CV controls.
With a line audio input, 3 analogue Control Voltage In, and one 0/5V Gate IN, OCS-2 can also be a great addition to your modular setup.

The extensive number of physical control allow an easy and effective sound tuning. 30 faders intent a direct access to all sound parameters, so you can only focus on the music.

The light sensors is also a great for music expressiveness : use the shade of your hand to control your sound! Your performance on stage will never be the same thanks to this feature. This is also attractive for studio work since it introduce a very different control than a fader rotation.

Specifications
30 fader, 12 bits input
48KHz audio synthesis
about 10KHz for CV computation
24 bits audio ADC and DAC
32 bits audio synthesis
82 dB S/N ratio for the audio line-out (measured)
0.15 ms IN/OUT audio latency
cortex M3 32 bits micro-controller (arduino due)
7 to 12V power supply (1 standard 2mm power plug or 1 standard eurorack plug)
low power consumption (300mA @ 12V)
3U, 10 inches (50HP) eurorack format
254 x 128.5 x 50 mm (290 x 139 x 55mm for the box)
about 270g (750g with the wood box)"

"For sale here is a Yocto 808 analog drum machine. This is probably the most accurate clone out there to having a real Roland TR808, and is quite a rare item to find. I've owned more than a few Roland TR808s and an Acidlab Miami and can attest that this Yocto sounds very close in sound to the original. Really great machine for the value considering it's half the price of going 808s, plus you get modern features like midi, it's a smaller size and isn't worn down or old like vintage ones so you won't have any of the vintage wear and tear. It's in MINT perfect shape & fully functional. Check out the pictures below. Includes power supply. If you can't afford a real 808 or want to deal with hassle of vintage gear, this is the next best thing. Don't miss out!"

"This is the Crumar Unique DBE synthesizer from Italy. It has the most 3 dimensional fat sounds I've heard in a synth short of an OBXa. When I got it 2 voices were out. I've recapped the power supply, replaced the memory battery and replaced all the filter ics. Now all the voices are working but one is less expressive as the others. I suspect the one of the filter chip holders might need to be cleaned but I haven't investigated it any further accept that it's more noticeable when playing some voices than others. I think it is quite useable in the shape I am sending it, however, this is being sold as is, for parts or repair, to be clear."

EHX Stereo Polyphase Pedal Demo w/ A Synthesizer #7

Published on Oct 18, 2016 gstormelectro

"Audio and Video by G-Storm Electro c.2016

The Electro Harmonix Stereo Polyphase is not your usual Phaser pedal. It has a lot of controls that many others do not. It is designed to accept either guitar or keyboard line level inputs. It also has a VERY interesting expression pedal input that can be used as a Control Voltage input to directly control the phase shift frequency. So this way you can match the frequency sweep timing to your song tempo using a synthesizer clock! In this demo I use the ARP Solina String Ensemble synthesizer. This has a very familiar sound similar to running an Eminent 310 through a phaser like Jean Michel Jarre."
