Wonderful (Dedicated to Dorothy)

Published on Jul 12, 2017 steveHmusic

Beautiful piece.

"This performance of Steve H's 3D Surround Sonic Immersion series took place at the PRPL performance space in Hastings on Hudson, NY. The concert was in memory of his mother, Dorothy, who loved to say 'Wonderful'. It's performed entirely on the the Buchla Music Easel processed, in surround, in Logic Pro X."

Rossum Evolution VCF (LMS EE) Tutorial Videos by Learning Modular

Playlist:

1. Rossum Evolution 1/4: Overview (LMS Eurorack Expansion Project)

"This first of four movies on the Rossum Electro-Music Evolution Variable Character Filter reviews its roots as a 4-pole low-pass transistor ladder design with roots back in the E-mu Modular Model 2100 VCF. I then explain its connections and controls while demonstrating the basic range of sounds this filter produces, including frequency-modulating its cutoff. The other movies dive deeper into its Genus, Q, and Species sections respectively.

For more on the Learning Modular Synthesis Eurorack Expansion Project for those exploring what module to add to their system next, visit http://learningmodular.com/eurorack-e..."

2. Rossum Evolution 2/4: Genus (LMS Eurorack Expansion Project)

"This second of four movies on the Rossum Evolution filter dives deep into its Genus section, where it crossfades between 3, 4, 5, and 6 pole response. In addition to hearing what the different configurations sound like, I explain what’s going on underneath the hood, exploring the transition zones between modes and showing how the filter’s resonant frequency changes with the number of poles. Along the way I demonstrate using an envelope, LFO, and VCO to modulate the Genus parameter."

3. Rossum Evolution 3/4: Q/Resonance (LMS Eurorack Expansion Project)

"This third of four movies on the Rossum Evolution filter spend a lot of time exploring resonance and feedback. The Evolution is interesting in that the frequency of self-oscillation attempts to sync to each harmonic as you perform a filter sweep, and also changes in pitch as you change the number of poles. I also demonstrate its Q Level Compensation control to cure the way a transistor ladder filter normally gets quieter at higher resonance settings. By the way, the Evolution is also a very clean sine wave oscillator at full resonance with excellent tracking."

4. Rossum Evolution 4/4: Species (LMS Eurorack Expansion Project)

"This fourth of four movies on the Rossum Evolution filter wraps up our explorations by diving into the Species parameter, which acts as an input level, overdrive, and output level all under one knob. Setting Species to around the halfway point results in the usual slightly-congested overdriven nature of many filters, where cranking it all the way shapes the output into something similar to a square wave, damping resonance and suppressing even harmonics as it does so. By the way, the Species parameter also sounds great when frequency modulated!"

Make Noise Pressure Points

Published on Jul 12, 2017 MAKEN0ISE

"Pressure Points is a controller module, an analog sequencer that is played by hand. Touching the gold plated copper wires (aka Touch Plates), you become part of the circuit, generating a gate signal (Gate OUT), a control signal proportional to the amount of pressure applied (Press OUT) and the 3 Tuned Voltages for the activated Stage.

Up to four Pressure Points modules can be chained together to share tuned voltage and common pressure and gate outputs.

Pressure Points also has an optional expander module called BRAINS, which can be attached to one or two Pressure Points modules and is used to allow clocked sequencing."

Audio Damage Releases Phosphor 2 - alphaSyntauri Based Soft Synth

via Audio Damage

"The Phosphor 2 download includes 32/64-bit VST and VST3, and 64-bit AAX for Windows 8 or greater, and as a 32/64-bit AU/VST/VST3/AAX for OSX (10.8 or greater).

Coming soon for iOS standalone and AUv3.

Phosphor is an unique instrument plugin modeled on the alphaSyntauri, a vintage digital additive synth from the early 80s. The original alphaSyntauri required an Apple //e to operate, but we've gone ahead and eliminated the middle-man, and now you can have this classic digital synth in your DAW of choice.

Featuring two additive oscillators (with the original 16 partial complement of the alphaSyntauri, or optionally with 32 or 64 partials), each with its own amp envelope, Phosphor's topology closely follows the alphaSyntauri, while adding many modern features such as full velocity control, a much more extensive modulation routing system, tempo synced LFOs, a pair of delays, and two monophonic modes. The noise and oscillators are able to work in the original alphaSyntauri "low-resolution" modes, or can be run in modern high-resolutions. Phosphor can accurately model the original sounds of the alphaSyntauri, yet still provide new paths for sonic exploration.

Features

• Two complete oscillator/envelope sections modeled on the original topology of the alphaSyntauri.

• Each set of partials can run in "lo-fi" mode, emulating the gritty digital voicing of original, or in a modern mode for alias-free sines.

• The noise can be either "lo-fi" digital shift-register noise per the original, or modern white noise.

• Two complete delay sections with LP/HP filtering and cross-feedback.

• Two tempo-syncable LFOs with multiple modulation destinations.

• A large complement of presets included that show off the extensive sound generating capabilities of Phosphor, including some famous alphaSyntauri presets directly ported from the original."

TIPTOP AUDIO FOLD PROCESSOR TUTORIAL AND DEMO ~ Eurorack Wave Folding and Divider Module

Published on Jul 12, 2017 once upon a synth

"This is a tutorial of the TipTop Audio Fold Processor eurorack module. This is a type of distortion or wave shaping module. A wave folder folds waves over onto themselves instead of hard clipping them. This results in odd harmonics being created which yields some interesting timbres. The Fold Processor also has a divider circuit which signals pass through after being folded. The divider circuit has an individual output jack which outputs a combination of square waves at four different octaves. There are two inputs for audio and CV controls for both the fold and inject parameters. In this video I go over the basics of the front panel then proceed by demoing various signals such as sine waves and even drum loops from the TipTop One sampler."

Edges + Akemie's Taiko + Matter

Published on Jul 12, 2017 isvisible / isinvisible

"Edges is not only ace at all that chiptune stuff, but it can also do nicer more regular type sounds.
Here it is being fed outputs from the Toppobrillo 'Quantimator' to make pad type sounds, all being fed through a Doepfer 'A-101-1' filter.
The little melody type thing is the ALM 'Akemie's Taiko'.
And last, but not least, the percussion provided by the Folktek 'Matter'"

VGM #111: Theme A - Korobeiniki (Tetris)

Published on Jul 11, 2017

"SGDQ is over and I gotta say, there were a few songs that really inspired me. I have 2-4 videos that I hope to put together over the next few weeks that will be from speed games that had soundtracks that really caught my attention. I decided to start things off with a song from one of my favorite classic games, Tetris. Super blown away every time by the Grandmaster runs. Kind of want to get into it, but I hear the barrier for entry is really steep.

I knew that I wanted to start my cover super slow and dark, and I also knew that I wanted to do a more upbeat section, so I decided to have the BPM start at 70 and over the course of the entire song, gradually slope up to 140. The song does not have a stable BPM until the very end, when it hits 140 and immediately drops back to half time, bringing the song back to the 70 BPM where it started."
