"Crossed Wires #1" - New Eurorack with Mother-32, Digitakt, Heat.

Published on Sep 27, 2017 Lost For Words

"Over halfway with my first Eurorack case...excuse the cardboard!

Using Midi sequencing from the Digitakt on 3 channels to MI Yarns which is feeding :

-Rings (polyphonic, western chords on sympathetic strings) into Clouds
-Erica Synths Wavetable VCO + Polivoks VCF
-Mother-32 into Pico DSP Mono Delay
-Everything into 2hp Verb.
-Very slow LFO on left side of Maths is building the Erica Wavetable sound - slowly opening the filter and morphing the wavetable a little, also the cutoff on the Mother 32
-Other side of Maths is triggering/releasing Clouds' Freeze
-MI Peaks is modulating a couple of Clouds' CV inputs as well as envelope for Wavetable VCO

Everything you hear is from the Eurorack case except the drum tracks from Digitakt (TR-707 samples) and I used the enhancement circuit on Elektron Analog Heat in post."

Rossum Morpheus Digital VCF Videos by Learning Modular

Published on Sep 27, 2017 Learning Modular

"The Morpheus is not your typical modular synth filter. To show what it can do in a variety of contexts, I created three different demos: one in a normal arpeggiated, enveloped patch (which includes an overview of the module), one for treating drones (think “slow modulation” possibilities), and one processing stereo drum loops. A fourth movie shows how to edit the “cube” presets, as well as set up sequences of presets."

Rossum Morpheus Digital Filter 1/4: Demo 1 (enveloped) + Overview (Eurorack Expansion)
Rossum Morpheus Digital Filter 2/4: Demo 2 – drones (LMS Eurorack Expansion Project)
Rossum Morpheus Digital Filter 3/4: Demo 3 – stereo drum loops (Eurorack Expansion)
Rossum Morpheus Digital Filter 4/4: Editing Sequences & Filter Cubes (Eurorack Expansion)

"For more details about using the Morpheus (as well as other modules I’ve made videos for), I encourage you to join the Learning Modular Patreon Tribe: For more on the Learning Modular Synthesis Eurorack Expansion Project for those exploring what module to add to their system next, visit"

Korg Monologue Song - The Overlapped

Published on Sep 27, 2017 Oscillator Sink

"I thought it might be fun to put together some songs where the Korg Monologue was the sole sound source - this is the first one I've finished. Everything you hear is coming from the Monologue (including the drums). The track is a bit of an experiment in overlapping musical figures and involved a *lot* of live knob tweaking on the Korg.

It was really good fun to make, so I hope you enjoy listening to it!

The visualisation is done with the excellent 'PrettyScope' from SoundMote:"

Buchla 259e Twisted Waveform Generator Comes to Software

Published on Sep 27, 2017 Published on Sep 27, 2017

"Get your free 20-day trial license here:

✮ Buchla 259e is the first ever officially licensed Buchla plug-in. The equally unique and desirable dual oscillator—with a truly twisted circuitry—is available as an expansion to Softube's Modular ✮"

"The Buchla 259e Twisted Waveform Generator plug-in for Modular features all the digital waveshaping, aliasing noise and foldover frequencies of the original hardware. Enjoy the self-modifying, screeching, snarling responses from the original’s downright odd inner workings. The 259e is a unique addition to the Modular ecosystem.

'Coming from a staunch, obsessive analog Buchla tradition I was skeptical about a virtual 259e. But Softube has knocked it out of the park.'

Todd Barton, Buchla Legend

What Is a Twisted Waveform Generator Anyways?
The 259e consists of two separate oscillators—Principal and Modulation—where Modulation can be used either to modulate the Principal oscillator or as a separate generator of audible notes. Furthermore, the sine wave generated by the Principal oscillator is simultaneously applied to two of the eight available waveshape tables. A morph voltage pans between the two tables and a warp voltage varies the amplitude of the sinusoidal (driving) waveform. Both these functions can be modulated by the Modulation oscillator.

'Three years ago I purchased a Buchla Easel and it really changed the way I compose my music. The Softube Buchla 259e makes me not miss my Easel too much while travelling.'

Andreas Tilliander, Producer, DJ, remixer and artist.

Here's Where it Gets Really Twisted
Three of the waveshape tables are actually not tables in the classical sense—they are simply portions of the 259e operating program, full of unpredictable noise and frequent silences. This is the innovative Mem Skew mode, possibly the most unique feature of the Buchla 259e. When these tables are selected, the FM controls are re-assigned to table scanning functions and the FM inputs become table modulators.

To sum it up, while the Buchla 259e can certainly be used for more traditional sounds, it excels at creating otherworldly twisted digital sonic landscapes. Which is why it is one of the most coveted synth modules on the market.

"Extremely rare powerful Soviet vintage analog synthesizer "ALISA-1377".
It was made in USSR in 1985 at Luberetskiy Military Radioplant "Rodina" near Moscow. ALISA synthesizers were made especially for experimental electronic music, creating of sound effects in soviet cinema and scientific acoustic researches. This unique instrument has warm, aggressive and absolutely original analog sound!

The synthesizer has 1 OSC with 4 wave forms, ADSR , filter, various modulations, vibrato and portamento effects.

OSCILLATOR: tune; octave +1/+2; portamento; wave forms: triangle, saw, square, odd harmonics; frequency modulation (for all 4 waveforms); impulse-width modulation (for square wave form) with impulse width and depth controls; harmonics (for odd harmonics wave form). You can use individual OSC waveforms (triangle, saw, square, odd harmonics) or mix them together to get unique sounds!

LFO: on/off modulation switch, two waveforms (triangle, square), modulation rate, modulation rate coarse switch - 1Hz/10Hz.

FILTER: cutoff, resonance, vibrato (filter modulation), ADSR, switch between filter control- keyboard or contour OSC (ADSR). The synths filter due to it`s original architecture can be used as additional oscillator when filter`s resonance knob in self-oscillaltion position and it sounds really weird and interesting!

AMPLIFIER: ADSR, main volume, on/off synthesizer.

MIDI Interface: MIDI In & Thru (5Din socket), MIDI On\Off button, MIDI Learn Button."
