Published on Jun 15, 2018 Vanity Fair

"The composers of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things, Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, break down the music of the show. Kyle and Michael talk about how they were approached by the Duffer Brothers to score the show, the biggest influences on their music, and the differences between the music of Stranger Things season one and season two."

An Oberheim TVS was used for the main sequence, played by hand - no arpeggiator.

Synth Stuff Ep. 43 - Yamaha DX100

Published on Jun 17, 2018 tritonrecordings

"When two DX7's love each other very much, they may decide to have the stork deliver a baby DX100. This was released a couple years after the DX7 as a budget model but quickly gained a sort of cult following, especially in the dance and Detroit house genres. If you thought the DX7's DAC was noisy, just listen to this. I actually like the fuzzy, gritty sound of the cheap converter and wish the Reface DX gave you the option to emulate this. These don't show up as often as they used to, but check it out if you want some gritty FM goodness in your studio. The DX27 is allegedly identical but in a larger package. We often blame the MicroKorg for the mini-key trend, but Yamaha did that before it was 'cool.' Also, lots of video game music in this episode!"

"The Microwave XT is a great big orange polyphonic rackmount synthesizer. While combining the power of the Wave and the compact design of Waldorf's Microwave II, the XT adds a bit of knob-laden heaven. At first glance the top section completely resembles the 2-space rackmount version of the Microwave II. And then there are three more rack-spaces full of knobs and lots of knobs means lots of control.

The top four encoders are not stock, purely cosmetic, unit works like new. Great powerhouse synth. 10 voice polyphony. Includes power supply, check out the pictures for exact condition."

"Amazing little stepsequencer. Simple design but also offers great versatility. Couldform the beating heart of a modular system with 4 gate and CV outs orcould control 4 separate synths? Excellent condition bothcosmetically and operationally. The only flaw being where a previousowner drew round the top of the step push buttons with black markerso you can see if the step is active or not. But that's kindahandy?!? Comes with its original 2-pin euro power supply and a UK3-pin adaptor."

Instruo - Analogue Oscillator Live Stream

Streamed live 3 hours ago DivKidVideo

"As I've just made demos for the Ts-L - https://youtu.be/LLkyTFM7Ta0 and Tona - https://youtu.be/aAXT7T26gck oscillators from Instruo I thought it would be nice to get Jason from Instruo onto a live stream to chat about his oscillators. There's his video of the new complex dual VCO the Cs-L - https://youtu.be/zTFlhqF4PbA and there's Troika to talk about too. So with 4 analogue oscillator designs I wanted to chat about similarities, design, overlap, differences etc. "

Sequencers & synths: polyend Seq into Audulus, Keystep into Nave, iPad , AUM

Published on Jun 17, 2018 junklight

"still working towards a live set. Audulus and the Seq is a great combination - three separate midi channels controlling three different voices - the top 4 lanes all feed into the same mono voice giving an ever evolving pattern...

the faders are controlling the Audulus patch

attempting to have less notes in my music too :-)

Also I moved some stuff around to get a slightly less cluttered video......"

AJH SYNTH Sonic XV & MINI MOD eurorack modular improvisation/jam/patch

Published on Jun 17, 2018 DreamsOfWires

"AJH Synth Sonic XV filter & Mini Mod eurorack modular system performance. Simple sequence variations from a Arturia Keystep, into 3 VCO's, all 3 into the AJH Ring SM mixer then the Sonic XV. Other waves from the VCO's are also patched into the AJH Ladder Filter, and both filters patched into the Mini Mod VCA. You can hear the Ladder Filter join in the mix in the latter half of the performance.

A Make Noise Pressure Points is serving as a kind of preset patch bay for the Sonic XV, setting it's frequency, resonance, and waveshaper. Otherwise, only AJH modules were used in this patch.

Lycanthropy in Space (Novation Circuit Mono Station & Akai Rhythm Wolf thru Moog Freqbox)

Published on Jun 17, 2018 HardtekStudios

"I wanted to finish this up so I could update my Novation Circuit Mono Station to 1.2! The Akai Rhythm Wolf is providing the analog drums while it's bass is routed from it's individual output to the Moog Moogerfooger Freqbox. The Freqbox is further manipulated with the Circuit Mono Stations LFO, Envelope and Modulation sequencer. All those CV signals routed thru the Aux CV out into the CV in controlling the Freqbox's envelope depth. The Circuit Monostation is playing the lead with lots of recorded modulations. Recorded, edited & mixed in Logic with a bit of compression, eq & verb."

"Seen where the sound of success was heard, the SE-1 recreated the power of the classic Moog tone and far more. The distinctive Oberheim filter and numerous additional features helped to make this Hiphop and R&B legend the serious professional's source for the boominest basses and smoothest, wormiest leads on the planet.

The SE-1X continues in this tradition, remaining true to its roots, while stepping up its functionality and form, wide open to future expansion and exploration via its Flash-ROM operating system and dedicated creativity of its supernal sound designers."

Please leave a comment if you try this on one of those machines and get a result. I'm using a KIWI upgraded JX-3p here with a temlate for CTRLR to access the parameters."
