Psytrance Eurorack Experiments #2 - Hexinverter Modular Dungeon Jams

Published on Oct 30, 2018 Hexinverter Électronique

"I've been having a lot of fun lately trying out different psy processes on the eurorack modular synth! Here's my latest jam. Some 142bpm stuff. Hope you enjoy! I went a little more minimal with the grid on this one and went a little more wild with the noodling on the delay and feedback.

Some patch notes:
- Bassdrum: Mutant BD9 - http://www.hexinverter.net/mutant-bd9
- Bass is a simple sawtooth with some phase adjustment which is phase locked using hard oscillator sync. The punch/attack is due to overdriving the Red Dragon's analog filter core - it really bites in this way! http://www.hexinverter.net/red-dragon
- Mutant Hihats are providing both open and closed hihats
- Everything is sequenced from a Digitakt over MIDI, through the Mutant Brain! http://www.hexinverter.net/mutant-brain"

Erica Synths -Pico QUANT & Pico CV Mixer in use

Published on Oct 30, 2018 Dziam Bass

"Another demo of modules from Erica Synths this time is Pico QUANT-Quantizer and Pico CV Mix , both of them despite being small because only 3HP, it raises your system to a new level. Above all, Quant allows you to load various scales through up to 8 slots via mobile applications so you can always move between 8 scales in one module, which results in developing melodies for new long sequences. also lets you skip the notes using tolerance and in real time bypasses the notes, which also repeatedly melts your melodies even during improvisation.

Pico CV MIX is the ability to connect 3 CVs of modulation sources to one module and mix them together in different ways for complex modulation, now imagine these possibilities, I gave you some of them in this video with the sound from Pico VOICE with reverb from Black Hole DSP also from Erica Synths."

HENRY: Portrait Of A Serial Killer (Robert McNaughton cover) by Everett Dudgeon

Published on Oct 29, 2018 EverettDudgeon138

He's Not Jason
He's Not Freddy
He's Real...

For my next installment I wanted to do something a bit more minimalist, and it doesn't get much more minimalist than Robert McNaughton's score for Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer.

McNaughton's score was done with a pretty basic setup

Roland Juno 106
Korg Polysix
Ensoniq Mirage Sampler

It's very percussion oriented with blasts of discordant synth stabs and off sounding arpeggiated metallic samples.

Instruments Used
Sequential Prophet-X Sampler (Heavy percussion hits, piano, whispering and screams)

Sequential Prophet-6 (A simple drone with a Phaser on it)

Enjoy!!!

Thriller performed on a Eurorack System!

Published on Oct 30, 2018 WMDevices

"To get in the Halloween spirit this year, Alex aka Nasty Nachos decided to do a fun cover of Michael Jackson's Thriller using a Eurorack Modular Synthesizer System and a Juno-106.

All melodies were sequenced via MIDI files programmed into the Squarp Pyramid. Drums were sequenced via our Trigger Sequencer Prototype, METRON.

Notable modules:
The bassline is 2 WMD/SSF Spectrum Oscillators mixed into a Rossum Evolution ladder filter.

The Lead is a WMD Synchrodyne with expander.

Other notable modules include: Rossume Electro-Music Assimil8or, WMD Performance Mixer, WMD Chimera and Fracture."

William meets the Moog One vs the Novation Circuit

Published on Oct 30, 2018 suitandtieguy

"William McCarthy plays "The Hallow Earth" on the Moog One with drums and a sequence via the Novation Circuit. The drums are Oberheim DSX samples on the Circuit, which is also sending MIDI to one of the three timbres on the Moog One, so all pitched parts you are hearing are coming from the One. All effects, reverb and delay, are internal to the Circuit and One."

Korg 770 // Discrete Analog Synth w/ External Filter Input + Kenton CV / Gate / Filter Mod

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This synth simply sounds amazing. Think Forbidden Planet meets (early) Synth Punk. So much character just in the proto-MS20 LP/HP traveller filter alone (and you can run external sounds through it - it *loves* drums). Toss in pitched noise and an insanely beautiful ring modulator and you've got a lot more sonic range than your usual 2 oscillator analog monosynth.

Working absolutely *perfectly,* with no scratchy pots, intermittent switches or badly triggering keys. Has just been professionally gone through and serviced by Chris Hewitt (This Old Synth, San Jose, CA). This synth is from the later range of production, which used MS20 knobs instead of the metal bezel ones more commonly seen on a 770. They have a really nice feel and you don't need to worry about the metal bezels falling off like you do with the earlier knobs.

I've added Kenton CV / Gate / Filter inputs on the back (see pics), so it's completely ready to be integrated into a modern studio setup. I've also recapped the power supply, and had it fully checked over & serviced by one of the best synth techs in the Bay Area."

"One of the great analog synths of the 80’s. Has some really great sounding oscillators and filters, and has a lot of cool features such as an amazing arpeggiator with four different modes, that can also be used for all or only upper or lower voices. So you can make a cool rhythmic sequence with one hand (or held and repeated with the hold button,) while you play a melody on the upper voice. The synth can also be polyphonic or switched to unison mode. The layout is very simple, much like a Juno, but the features far outweigh the Juno’s and most other synths of the time. There’s also midi onboard as well as stereo outputs. The synth is in excellent condition for its age both functionally and cosmetically and you’d be hard pressed to find any nicer. There is very little wear, and all keys, voices, sliders and buttons work as they should without issue."

The Roland S range samplers are excellent due to their warm sound and filters as well as the interface which is very fast to use once you get used to it."

A Hop, Skip, and a Jump With Steppy 1U

Published on Oct 30, 2018 Intellijel

"Steppy is a 4-track programmable gate sequencer with eight internal memory slots, external clocking, numerous tweakable parameters, and a performance-first design aesthetic.

Each track features numerous independent parameters that govern its playback independently of the other tracks. Specifically:

Each track has its own length, which can range from 1-step to 64-steps, allowing for polyrhythms, fills, or constantly evolving gate interactions between tracks.
Each track has its own gate length, which ranges from very short to very long, with tied gates possible at the extreme setting.
Each track has its own clock divider, allowing patterns to play out over completely different periods of time.
Each track has its own swing setting, which offsets the timing of every other step.
Each track has its own delay setting, which offsets the timing of every step.
Each track has its own probability control, which sets the likelihood that each programmed gate will fire when called upon by the pattern.
Each track can be shifted (or ‘rotated’) forward or backward by a number of steps. So if you’ve created a pattern that ‘feels’ like it has its downbeat on step 3, you can shift that pattern two steps to the left, so that the downbeat sits on step 1.
Tracks can be programmed by entering active steps on the grid or tapped in live as the sequence is moving. Tracks can be selected and modified in real time as the sequence plays. A select button allows you to directly access each track (and each page of 16 steps within that track) directly through Steppy’s intuitive multifunction buttons array.

Tracks can be individually muted and unmuted, and a special performance mode (called “Loopy”) enables you to touch any two gate steps and instantly create a performance that loops between those steps.

Track patterns can be cleared without clearing its playback parameters, and all track patterns (along with their individual playback and performance parameters) can be saved as a preset to one of eight internal memory slots."

Erica Synths-Pico CV MIX -control of your CV

Published on Oct 30, 2018 Dziam Bass

"Hi Guys.
There is currently the sale of 40% Off on Erica Synths shop. I have a PICO CV MIX module that costs only 30 € instead of 50 €. I have a video here how important this module is when you want to mix 3 modulations by CV at once in one module. To CV In 1 I connected EG, to CV2-LFO from BLACK MODULATOR and to CV3 Bipolar from EG.
Thanks to this I have 3 modulations under my hands which I can mix, which gives you even more possibilities to create new things.it's really a simple video that shows this little module the most, but it really expands the control of many things.
For this, the BLACK VC EG used here with the expander also has a great price of 114 € instead of 190 € the expander raises the EG to a higher level.
a great opportunity to raise your system for many possibilities.
Sometimes a module like PICO CV MIX is cheap and it can develop great modulations and control of your CV."

Fusebox -Interval generator ,Envelope generator , Filter music demo

Published on Oct 30, 2018 Dziam Bass

"Hi Guys.
I have a fresh movie Fusebox from Analogue Solutions .
As always, only a musical demo, without talking and, of course, learning the nooks and crannies of the great sound of this synthesizer.
Some fun with EG and Interval Generator for tempo corresponds to LFO. also a bit of resonance, how it all works great here. Later I will switch a little button +1 oct. you can always raise it and leave it so that it works well when you want to jump one octave.
the possibility of patching a lot here as befits a good semi-modular synthesizer is just a small part of what a yellow box can do.
I added some reverb from Black Hole DSP module from Erica Synths."

Yamaha RS7000: over the mist (ambient)

Published on Oct 30, 2018 meecek

"The Mist (66'42") connects instantly with the listener. Showing remarkable cohesion this album's three tracks never stand still. Embracing simplicity, sleekness and space we wander behind K Markov through the adventurous vaporous realm of his three impressive +20 minute tracks. Beginning with a lilting keyboard solo The Mist almost immediately gains velocity - running up and down scales and arpeggios, improvising tunes and repeating interlocking patterns. The penetrating psychological drama rises, falls and moves agilely in interesting directions. Advancing with purpose - from delicate chords and twinkling chimes, to multi-layered mathematical-mechanical clockwork, over to an indistinct density of melodic disintegration - Markov's sound sense places the listener briefly amidst the mists of the past. Developing quickly each track uniquely rises out of the fog and into passages of heightened expression, then recede back down into a haze of satisfying resolutions. Markov's music is form moving in sound. It may be of lesser clarity than poetry, but certainly of finer shades and deeper effect. Weaving together two worlds The Mist demonstrates Markov's technical attributes and philosophical abilities - as is the case with all top level Space Musicians. He embodies both the history of Spacemusic, and its future."

Notice that my entire sequence is in C minor, but by simply holding down a few triads the op-z automatically transposes the bass line, melody, chords, and arp to whatever key I want. Amazing!"
