WALDORF QUANTUM // My Epic Particle Collider + 2 More of My Custom Presets

Published on Dec 14, 2018 Genshi Media Group

Genshi Media Group WALDORF QUANTUM videos.

"::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::

So at the end of my previous video, I created my first preset on the Waldorf Quantum using just the "Classic" Waveforms on each of the three Oscillators. In this video, I dug a little deeper, using my own samples on two of the three presets. Details are as follows:

1. "My Epic Particle Collider" -
Osc 1= Particle with my own custom-made sample
Ocs 2 = Particle with my own custom-made sample
Ocs 3 = Particle with my own custom-made sample
Internal FX = Compressor, EQ, Chorus, Reverb

2. "I Will Synthesize You" -
Osc 1= Wavetable using "Talk" feature (Text to Speech)
Osc 2= Waveform using "8 Kernels" plus Warping of the Waveform
Internal FX = Phaser, Delay, Reverb

3. "My Firefly" -
Osc 1= Particle with my own custom-made sample
Osc 2= Particle with my own custom-made sample
Internal FX = Reverb, EQ

Again, I'm still just learning to navigate around this synth, and haven't even scratched the surface of what all it can do yet."

Alchemical Audio Touch Controller

Published on Dec 14, 2018 synthrotek

"The Alchemical Audio Touch Controller is a 60HP Eurorack or standalone touch keyboard interface with portamento and pitch bend controls.

If you're looking for something to add to your Moog Mother 32, look no further! At 60HP (12 inches) wide, it's the same size as a Mother 32 or DFAM, and will fit into Moog's tiered rack case. It will also fit into Synthrotek's 6U or 9U Cheeks of Steel. If you want to use it as a tabletop unit, it looks great in our Bus Cheeks.

Touch Controls:
The keyboard pads are shaped and positioned so that a "finger drumming" technique can be developed that is very fast compared to the traditional keyboard, which requires a series of mechanical events to trigger the circuit, string, tine or whatever. Notes are triggered instantly when a fluctuation of capacitance is received. Why 25 notes? It just seemed conventional, and it fit perfectly into a 60HP Eurorack row.
The arrows shift the pitch an octave up or down at each touch.
The four squiggly lines found above the keyboard "bend" the pitch up or down by a semitone or a full octave.

Portamento:
The portamento/slew/lag glides the pitch smoothly from one note to the next. The LAG AMT knob changes the amount of time it takes to get from note A to note B. When switched to "ON" mode, portamento is always present on a note change. If the knob is turned fully counter-clockwise, the effect is turned off.
The LAG GATE IN jack allows a gate to turn the portamento function on and off. Used with a sequencer, LFO or other voltage source, you can make soulful bass lines and melody variations with ease! The slewing function will only happen when an incoming gate is high, externally controlling when "slides" can happen. If the gate goes back to low in the middle of a glide, the pitch will jump to the last note played.

Monophonic or Polyphonic:
The CV OUT jack covers 8 octaves and is monophonic, great for lead lines or bass lines and easy to integrate with your synths. When one note isn't enough, the MIDI OUT has a huge 10-octave range and is polyphonic, allowing you to play all 25 keyboard pads at the same time if you wish.
MIDI: MIDI data transmits on channel 1. The portamento function is tied to the CV output and will not work with the MIDI out. The pitch bend will work with MIDI so long as the unit receiving the MIDI signal has a pitch bend function.

Minimoog Model D Clone

This one spotted by swissdoc on OLX.ro. Googlish translation from the listing:

"Moog minimoog clone model d perfectly functional and calibrated.

It is made with its own resources as a hobby project and it sells it for lack of time / space to be used.

As shown in the pictures, there is room for improvement / modifications. I did not find the original keyboard, and the box is not exactly what it should be. With a little love and passion can come out something very beautiful.

Of course, it can be proven, tested and heard before buying. It is delivered only personally. Do not post by courier / couriers."

Not the most spectacular item, but I don't believe one has been feature on the site before. This is a standard MIDI recorder that backs up to 3.5" floppy disks. I think I actually have one or a sibling in the closet. I used to record moody/spacey 4AD-esque synth tracks on it.

Prok Modular Eurorack Drum Voices *FIRST BEATS*

Published on Dec 14, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Thonk caught my attention back at Superbooth with early prototypes of these little 4hp virtual analogue drum voices for Eurorack. Prok Modular is a new company leading with their initial releases in the range the BD SN CP HH. No prizes for guessing bass drum, snare drum, clap and hi hat as the sound sources there. There's no samples here, as I said it's virtual analogue voices allowing for modulation over X and Y positions for a wide range of sounds. This is just a "first beats" "first patch(es)" video sharing a few bits with the modules before a fulsome demo follows in the near future.

BURG1k Synth Kit Setup - Session Five (volca, monologue, drumbrute impact)

Published on Dec 14, 2018 ollilaboratories

"If you like my stuff please support me on http://music.ollilab.com/ and https://www.patreon.com/theBURG

#BURG1K session 5 - #KORGmonologue #DrumBruteImpact #volca - upbeat and groovy, with some looper action through the monologue.

Adding the KORG monologue to the BURG1K setup really lifts it to the next level, the sequencer with the built in automation and parameter locks is really versatile.

I wanted to showcase on this track some sequencer automation while using the 720 stereo looper to play back pre recorded KORG volca key drones through external audio in on the monologue. This adds some extra sound design capabilities to any synth out there with ext audio in.. just pre record anything into the looper and have that playback over the sequence, pretty cool!

Automation used in the monologue:

- VCO2 octave, toggle
- VCO2 waveform, toggle
- ENV decay (subtle movements)

Adding to this i also use one LFO to control the filter in the monologue, the LFO is running free.

I hope you like this one, BoooM!

Gear used

- KORG volca keys
- Arturia Drumbrute Impact
- KORG Monologue
- 2x Zoom MS-70 CDR FX pedals
- Behringer 1002B mixer
- EHX 720 Stereo Looper
- 2 track Recorder, Zoom H5

Ipad Synth or Original: IVCS3 compared to EMS Synthi AKS

Published on Dec 13, 2018 studentsmusic

"Some additional Infos: excerpts from trying to get objective data comparing an app with the original synthesizer. Don´t take it for granted, especially comparing waveforms here in such a short feature. So probably with mistakes, but somehow the tendency: the app is quite good! One core challenge that should be done better is comparing the filters, which might behave different in every hardware device and are one important character of the ems synths.
Interesting: Sine (sorry for german/latin "sinus") wave on AKS AND IVCS is not pure and has quite some harmonic distortion (due to Wave shaper?). Normally around 5%THD. The sine of the self oscillating Filter should be around 3% THD. Here its more, but somehow congruent analog and digital!
Of course there can be endless discussions comparing virtual with analog vintage. We all know its two different Animals. But as it comes to sound and hearing this might be a trigger for you to check by yourself, whats cooking with your hardware/app gear. Believing is not knowing."

System 101 keyboard (serial number 572025)
System 102 expander (serial number 701801)
System 103 mixing amplifier (serial number 601030)

System 109 speaker pair (serial number 531258 & 531309)

The system 101, 102 and 103 are recently been serviced. The service reports and invoices are included in the sale. The synthesizer is in perfect working condition.

We also include some original documentation:

System 101 owner's manual

System 103 owner's manual
System 104 owner's manual
Roland Wah-Wah International Vol. 3 No. 15 (1977)

Cosmetically the modules are in good condition for their age. The mixer has a big scratch on the front panel and the 101 has some minor scratches around the screws on the front panel, there's a sticker on the front of the 102. Please check all the photos for an impression of the condition.

All modules are original European delivered 220v versions, so with European plug installed."

"This ultra-rare Korg PS-3100 has been completely rebuilt and serviced by Ken Rich in LA. The wood case is completely rebuilt. This PS-3100 is in great condition.

The PS-3100 Analogue Synthesiser has monstrous polyphony - one built-in VCO, VCF, VCA, and EG for each of the keys on the keyboard for a total of 48 synthesizer circuits and polyphony! The PS-3100 has a rich sound despite its single VCO (triangle, saw, square waves, plus PWM) and its LPF is warmer than the MS synths. The Resonator (3 bandpass filters) can create formants and phase effects. LFO1 has a range up to 1khz, multiple wave forms, and can create FM effects using AM, which is continuously variable right up to Ring Modulation. There are 2 EGs - one polyphonically affects the VCA and LPF, the other (General Envelope Generator) is universal and paraphonic. The GEG can also be widely used as a modulation source. It has12 scaling controls for non equal-tempered intonation. There is an Ensemble for 70s style string patches and an extensive patchbay. The PS-3100 is huge, weighs 30kg and Korg made only 600."

Shipwrecks - An Ambient song with Blofeld, QY100 & Specular Tempus

Published on Dec 14, 2018 Lanthan O'Ide

"An ambient track I sequenced on my QY100, set to underwater footage recorded by the Okeanos Explorer. You can download the midi file from my website, if you like.
Enjoy! ^^
================================
Some trivia about the song:

A while ago FrankTheTank asked me in the comments if I knew any good hardware sequencer for ambient music.
Of course I responded praising the QY100, but it occurred to me that I actually haven't used it for pads, soundscapes and such yet.
Only live-recording and replaying midis.

So I made myself a little challenge:
I wanted to make an ambient song that's sequenced entirely on a QY, without a computer or other midi controllers.
Also, I only allowed myself to use patches from the Blofeld soundset I released a while ago.

And this is what I came up with.

Akai S612 - The first and best sampler Akai ever made - Demo/review/tutorial

Published on Dec 14, 2018 Espen Kraft

"When the Hi-Fi home system producer Akai entered the music tech/gear business with the Akai S612 sampler, and the Akai AX80 and AX60 back in 1985/86, no one new what to make of it. Not even Akai themselves. I don't think they knew how successfull their samplers would be in the years to come after this.
This was also the only sampler they'd ever produce that was in black.

The 612, in essence 6 delay lines with sampling functions, was streamlined the year later with the grey S700.
Both have a analog filter, non resonant, but where the S700 is a menu driven sampler, the S612 uses knobs and faders for adjusting parameters and that is very, fast, intiutive and simple. No Akai sampler for many years after the S612 did this.

Unfortunately it does not comply to the "standard" Midi Sample Dump protocol so with a fawlty Quick Disk drive like most of these has today, you have to use some old Atari or MAC to transfer sounds to and back from a computer. Or fix your quick disk system.

The demo track I start off with (Tell Me) is made entirely of sounds coming out of the S612. I've multi tracked it of course and additional effects are being used.
It has that 12-bit, slightly gritty sound I love."
