Analogue Solutions Impulse Command and Fusebox synced via DAW

"More Impulse Command and Fusebox!

Here's a quick little jam featuring sounds from these synths only being played live.

Logic is sending MIDI clock start/stop to the Digitakt drum machine, which is then sending clock to the Impulse Command synth.

The Generator Step Sequencer is also receiving noted clock from the DAW (great way to sync) and is being played live via the touch pads. This modulates the pitch of the Impulse Command as well as the filter.

The Fusebox is being played live via the keyboard but is clocked (Patternator) via the DAW.

No external effects were used on either synth (Impulse Command FX can be heard when they are activated).

Recognize the tune? I cut it short as you can get lost in the fun ;)

synth4ever's 'Ambient Worlds' is a Novation-commissioned custom soundset & sound pack for Peak & Summit digital/analog hybrid synths. With "Ambient Worlds", synth4ever channels his love for ambient chillout music and sound design into a collection of 51 custom patches for musicians to use and enjoy.

With influences ranging from Isao Tomita, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Vangelis, Ulrich Schnauss and more, this ambient sound pack features numerous spacey pads, lush soundscapes, grainy textures, melodic arps, cutting leads, motion loops and experimental SFX. Each patch also has tasteful aftertouch, animate and modwheel assignments to encourage further sonic exploration by the musician.

In creating these patches, synth4ever's goal was to push Novation Peak’s hardware into new sonic territory by leveraging new features in the v1.2 firmware update. As a result, you will find many examples of modulated effects as an integral part of his patch design, and extensive use of the mod matrix to create vast morphing soundscapes.

In his own words, he says: “I aim to create melodic sounds that are pleasing to the ear and which take the listener on a deep emotional journey through electronic music, especially ambient space music”. These varied ambient-focused patches are a result of this vision, and showcase his creative approach to sound design.

"I bought this from someone in Japan ten years ago for a hundred dollars even though I already had a used set, which had been incredibly useful when I got into modular synthesis on my 100m system. I couldn't resist because I had never seen one before that was actually new, still in the original shrink-wrap (and haven't seen one since). This might very well be the only new, still shrink-wrapped copy of this awesome four volume book on the planet.

The Roland Company, founded in 1972, was one of the earliest manufacturers of music synthesizers, and has shaped electronic music immeasurably. In the late 70s they produced a series of instructional manuals for musicians to provide a basic theoretical understanding of acoustics and synthesis, and practical applications for producing useful sounds on a voltage controlled synthesizer. A Foundation for Electronic Music discusses sound, synthesizing methods, pitch, loudness, and timbre. Practical Synthesis for Electronic Music, in 2 volumes, explains basic patches, modulation, advanced synthesis, accessories, block diagrams, string sounds, rhythm and effects, and sound-on-sound recording. Multichannel Recording covers tape recorders, basic techniques, creating more tracks, and noise reduction. All four books contain numerous drawings, diagrams, photographs, and notated musical examples.

The Quadra is a four-section synthesizer consisting of a bass-synth (monophonic), poly-synth (full polyphonic), lead-synth (duophonic), and Solina like analog strings (full polyphonic)

The synth has included a awesome 12 stage phase shifter, dual portamento controls and fantastic arpeggiator.

"Very first try! Be kind. Testing the new machine, I got some beats going, and used a car crash sound effect included as a preset. It was semi-successful, I could not figure out how to switch track 2 to drums (you have to Delete the Track and make a new one!)

and how to increase the length of the sequence (hold Shift and press the measure buttons!)
There is a lot of holding the Shift Key to do various things, be warned... I have not decided whether to keep this machine."

"Wobbly Tape Echo sound examples. 7th algorithm on the new Tape Echo card for Z-DSP voltage controlled effects processor from Tiptop Audio.

An internal LFO modulates the delay time slightly to give some wobble chorus/vibrato to the sound. The
modulation rate is tied to the FIlter control and speeds up as the filter sweeps up to high pass response.
Mono output.
