MajorOSC Element 6 Full Bank Preview for Sequential's Prophet 6

Major OSC

Be sure to check out MajorOSC's other synth presets here as well.

"Out of leftfield, MajorOSC brings 100 fresh new patches to Sequential's Prophet 6! Available Now at http://MajorOSC.com/Element6

Element 6 presets sound organic and alive. Expect plenty of movement, rhythm, variety, and that unmistakable MajorOSC style; bold, musical, and addictive to play.

This is nothing short of a joy ride on one of the best VCO analog polysynths currently on the market.

No themes. No limits. Wait, no theme? Nope. So what is Element 6?

This is a collection of analog synth patches designed for electronic music. This should become exceedingly apparent once you hit the play button. Genres; Progressive House, Big Beat Techno / Industrial, Synth Pop, and Classic Rock. Expect a healthy dose of soft and sophisticated pads, grimey and far-out distorted epic leads, ultra smooth plucks and keys to throw down your latest chord progression ideas, and last but not least, some deep funky bass.
There's 2 main sections of Element 6, split evenly 50/50.

The first 50 presets are a variety of sounds that explore the prophet 6. They're designed to strike a balance between experimental and accessible. They're edgy, yet musical and fused onto familiar patch types that tend to work incredibly well on VCO synths. In other words, they'll be musical and expressive, as opposed to conceptual and useless.
The second half is relatively more organized, for your convenience. Expect to find 10 or so of each; Bass, Pads, Distortion/Leads, Arps. and classics. They're the ones I designed with the intention for you to use them as go-to starting points. They're purpose built to be ready for throwing down in a jam session, or new project/track. But they're made in a way that should allow easy tweaks without too much head scratching.

Inflences of this Patch Bank include the following artists:
Eric Prydz / Pryda *2005-2010 progressive house era*
Quincy Jones
Chemical Bros
Tycho / Ghostly Digital
The Rolling Stones
GrandMaster Flash & The Furious Five
Nine Inch Nails
Vangelis
Haywyre
Maceo Plex / CrossTown Rebels
DeadMau5
Knife Party
Crystal Method
Alice in Chains

(That'd be the most incredible and random lineup to have at a concert wouldn't it?)"

::vtol:: rbs-20 - Ruler Based Mechanical Synth

::vtol:: rbs-20 from ::vtol:: on Vimeo.

ruler bass synth, 20 centimeters

more info - https://vtol.cc/filter/works/RBS-20-cm

The device is based on the school experience of imitating bass lines at the desk and a fun way to disturb teachers. The instrument can be classified as an automated plucked contrabass monochord.

The pitch change is implemented by quickly changing how far the ruler is extended relative to the nut. Movements, plucks and presses of the ruler along the nut are driven by powerful and fast motors, which allows to play pretty fast lines. Two pressing motors can work simultaneously or selectively, which allows to choose the register: the range and amplitude of oscillations depends on the place in which the ruler is clamped before the pluck. Motors may not press the ruler at all, leaving the string / ruler "open". Thus, from one position of the ruler, you can get 4 notes that are different in pitch and duration: open (lowest), clamped by the upper motor (highest tone), clamped by the lower motor (low) and clamped by two at once. The sound is picked up by a small piezo element, which is getting hits by a ruler directly (the instrument has no resonator). The instrument is equipped with 12 touch keys, each of which can be reassigned to a specific length of the ruler. A small OLED display is used to select modes, tune notes, and indicate processes and states.

See the vtol label for additional unique creations.

Soma Lyra 8 "Discovery"

Jurgen SONICrider

"Saturday August 1 2020 "the organismic synthesizer" Soma Lyra 8" landed at the SONICriderSTUDIO.

Since recent production often touch the industrial experimental ambient style this organismic synthesizer will bring some unpredictable layers to future ambient project.

After going through some knob combinations recorded this "Discovery" video as a time stamp - this Lyra will bring a change to the sound & style for sure.

A little travelogue:
- Hold at 11 o'clock + release for each group "long".
- Switching modulation sources
- Playing with the "group" pitch setting
- Change the LFO setting
- Introducing the "mod delay"
- Altering the "sharp" setting

Although this video doesn't show expert skills it was fun to make it & show some of the Lyra 8 capabilities. This synthesizer will become a welcome travel mate - not only on musical journeys - due to his stand alone possibility.

"The Sirius is a keyboard groove-synth, featuring a subtractive hybrid-tone-generation synthesizer referred to as DTE ('Difficult To Explain') synthesis introduced in 1997 by Quasimidi. The unit features a both real-time and step sequencer with pattern and song modes, capable of acting basic drum machine, groove-box, or sound-module. The units is 7x multitimbral and has 28-voice polyphony across it's 7 tracks, with track selecting a (track-specific) sound within 96 sounds (per bank) of preset- or user-writeable sounds."

QUASIMIDI TECHNOX

"The Technox was something of a follow-up to Quasimidi's first rack-mountable synth, the "MASS" engine Quasar. The Quasar was a do-it-all multitimbral unit that was quite powerful, but had a rather lacking overall sound. The single-unit-high silver-clad Technox is a vast improvement based upon the Raven engine, though it's still a mid-90s ROMpler and so playing many sounds at the highest or lowest octaves brings out tell-tale artifacts.

But what are those sounds? Well the phrase "techno rave electronic" on the fascia would probably hint at what one would find, and indeed the presets are utterly 90's techno, rave, IDM, electronica goodness from every pore. Lots of pretty solid basses, rave leads, hooverish sounds, acid squeals, spacey pads and some great drum kits. The latter includes full sets of TR-808, 909 and 606 hits. There are 512 presets, which for a 1995 synth wasn't bad!

Whereas the Quasar excelled at providing a ton of bread-and-butter sounds, the Technox is oriented towards dance musicians. To this end, a sequencer is also included which can address up to 16 MIDI parts. Each part has its own level, pan and effects send, and much more besides. There's a lot of good stuff here for darker and ambient genres!

There's stereo outs, full MIDI In/Out/Thru and a foot switch jack. The Technox's greatest asset, ultimately, is its 16-part multitimbrality. Channel 10 is fixed to addressing drums, but the other 15 channels can go where you want.

There's a ton of good sounds in the Technox, and it is still very useable in many electronic music genres. They're not easy to find but definitely worth a listen!

The 512 sounds are divided into 4 banks."

"While not copying originals, some of the features were taken to a better point. Continuous blendable multimode filter (HP-Notch(BP)-HP in 12 dB mode and 4-1 pole in 24 dB mode). 32 and 64 bit versions included.

OB-Xd is based on the Oberheim OB-X. It attempts to recreate its sound and behavior, but as the original was very limited in some important ways a number of things were added or altered to the original design.

The OB-Xd was designed to sound as good and as rich as the original. It implements micro random detuning which is a big part of that sound. However, it was not designed as a self-contained completely independent soft-synth. It needs to be contained within a VST framework where things like transposition, automation, layering, arpeggiation, etc., are available.

Also, like many synths of the OB-X's generation, the OB-Xd has no internal effects so its sounds and textures can be greatly enhanced by the use of additional processing like chorus, reverb, delay, etc."
