Native Instruments announces MASCHINE+ Standalone Performance and Production System

Native Instruments

"MASCHINE+ is a standalone synth, sequencer, groovebox, stage and studio superpower, and sampler.
Jam with your other gear, sketch beats, arrange entire tracks, and create with a huge array of onboard synths, effects, and sounds – no computer necessary."

And the press release:

September 8, 2020, Berlin – Native Instruments today announced MASCHINE+, an entirely standalone system that embeds the iconic MASCHINE workflow into a powerful, flexible groovebox that can be used without a computer.

“This release marks a pivotal moment in Native’s history,” says CIO and President, Mate Galic, “and it’s something that’s been highly requested by the MASCHINE community. Since day one, MASCHINE has been about combining the power of modern computers with a fast, fun, hardware-based workflow. Today we come full circle by combining those key elements – together with some of the most iconic sounds from KOMPLETE – in a powerful standalone instrument. Not only is MASCHINE+ a new flagship for our range, it also sets a new benchmark for exciting future products and continued development.”

MASCHINE+ brings new freedom to the same fast, fun, and flexible approach to making music inherent to the rest of the MASCHINE line. Musicians can plug in, power up, and sketch beats in seconds, as well as develop fledgling ideas into performance-ready pieces with arranging and mixing tools – both with or without a computer.

As a studio centerpiece, it provides the same powerful sequencing, sampling, and synthesis Native Instruments users have come to know and love, with endless options for integrating outboard gear across a broad spectrum of setups and styles.

On-stage, MASCHINE+ provides expressive, hands-on control over every element in a performance, with both high-impact macros and in-depth tweaking just a knob twist away.

In addition to its classic groovebox workflow, MASCHINE+ packs an industry-leading collection of instruments, effects, and thousands of sounds with MASCHINE+ Selection. Heavyweight synths like MASSIVE, MONARK, PRISM, and FM8 join a lineup that includes the MASCHINE Factory Library, RAUM, PHASIS, and five Expansions, plus a voucher for two more.

Every instrument and effect in MASCHINE+ Selection has been optimized to make the system’s standalone workflow smooth and seamless, and users can expand their sound libraries with a wide array of Native’s Expansions, as well as their own samples via SD and USB storage.

Under the hood, a quad-core processor and 4 GB dual-channel DDR3L RAM power fast, spontaneous creation, to deliver a huge amount of freedom and flexibility when making music.

MASCHINE+ will hit stores on October 1, 2020, and pre-orders are open now at the Native Instruments website.

Pricing and Availability
MASCHINE+ will be available online and in stores on October 1, 2020."

Folding Waves // 0-Coast Ensemble

Stefano Mattia

"It's been a while I hadn't used my 0-Coast. I was watching some old 0-Coast I had saved and fell in love with its sound again. So I decided to make a new track with it. And since I also love odd time signatures, I made it in 5/4.

Here the 0-Coast plays three parts: the two arpeggio lines, slightly panned left and right, with a different note division and pattern, and the crazy power plant bass line, in charge of keeping things random and hopefully interesting.

I added some Blackhole reverb and Valhalla delay in Logic, as well as some string pads using Repro-5.

Enjoy!"

0-CTRL Patch of the Week #7: One Shot and Knight-Rider Sequences

MAKEN0ISE

"If we patch one step gate output to Stop, and let the clock run, we can create one-shot sequences of any length by touching various step touchplates. This is a simple patch, but it creates an interesting playable surface, especially if you interrupt these sequences and/or change their direction at will.

Erica Fusion Delay/Flanger/Vintage Ensemble (LMEE)

Learning Modular

"This module combines a BBD delay with tube overdrive, a low pass filter, and a built-in LFO for modulation. You can create some classic short delay and flanger effects, but where it excels is exploring the unstable regions where it is on the edge of self-oscillation while also distorting the signal.

00:00 brief demo
00:39 overview
01:43 clean delay
03:39 distorted delay
05:33 modulated delay
06:54 Vintage Ensemble
07:37 clean flanger
09:39 clipping
09:54 distorted flanger
11:00 summary

A single VCO voice from the Moog Mother-32 (with an additional ADSR for the filter cutoff) was the lone sound source in this demo; the Erica module really fattened it up. This movie is part of my Eurorack Expansion: Extended course on LearningModular.com where I demonstrate how a wide variety of individual modules can transform your modular’s sound."

After matching OB starts to sound much more deeply.
The setting is included to the soundset.

All the presets MW patched & sounds very deep after our EQ OB setting."

TECBUG TBS-16 Mk II Sequencer + Analog Drum Synth + Syntom

via this auction

"here we have 5 hand made electronic music pieces produced by "Tecbug Experimental Audio"

the sequencer + the drum synth and also the syntom are the main sale items...
but i am also including the "Synwave" and "Synchime" units
though these two modules could be used with the sequencer they are really intended for use with the trigger pads (included)

all 5 units are battery powered and each module requires 1 x PP3 type battery
the battery compartment is accessed by removing the bottom of each unit (see pics 8/9)

the sequencer sends CV and Trigger pulses to whichever unit you are using
only one module can be used at a time

i have not tried it myself but i would assume that the modules would work with any sequencer / instrument the has CV + Trigger connection (?)

i am providing two cables for CV + Trigger connection between devices

there are 4 trigger pads included... these are connected to the trigger inputs of the modules and struck with a drum stick or tapped with a finger
the audio output from each device could then be connected to a mixer... resulting in a 4 piece electronic percussion / drum kit

audio output is via 3.5mm jack

batteries are NOT included

all 5 modules are in excellent condition and fully functional
note though that the small adhesive feet do tend to drop off ocassionally
(these could be replaced)"

Oberheim Matrix-12

"This Matrix 12 has just been fully serviced and is in excellent working condition. All the parameters have been tested and everything works!

The self-test reads all OK (ram, rom, tuning, dac etc)

All the push buttons are working perfectly, no need to press it hard to have it working. All the potentiometers have been cleaned, there is no self-rotation on the display( number self behaving) that would sometimes happen on other Matrix 12 or Xpander (this is a rather common issue and it might be a problem for live performance).

The keyboard is velocity responsive and all the keys work well. The levers have been taken care of, the mod/pitch zero level point is well set."

Modal Electronics 008

via this auction

"Modal Electronics 008 8-Voice 61-Key Analog Synthesizer. Amongst the top polysynths in existence, the Modal 008 is a highly versatile fully analogue synth, made with top quality discreet components. Only 300 made. Two 100% analogue VCO’s per voice with two sub oscillators, 15 multi-mode filter. Over 10,000 patch storage locations, onboard sequencer, multi-effects unit (the only digital part of the signal path), a second parameter sequencer called the 'animator', USB in/out, extra analogue inputs for processing other signals, and an incredible 18 position multimode filter with a lot of fizzle and warmth awaits you. Most interestingly, the 008 has a built in web-interface editor that allows you to edit complete patches . This synth has a completely unique sound, and rivals the likes of the Moog One in breadth and complexity."

Roland VP-9000 Sample Formant Shaping

"Shaping your samples is a great way to get the most tonality and textures quickly out of one sample. With formant shaping you’re able to pull several textural qualities out of your audio in real-time. This can them be used in your music or sound design."

Fact Live: Paranoid London

FACTmagazine

"The third in our new series of live sessions filmed behind closed doors by Fact at 180 The Strand is a cathartic set of raw acid house and techno from Paranoid London, the hardware-heavy project of Quinn Whalley and Gerardo Delgado.

When Paranoid London first emerged in 2007, their music provided a gritty counterpoint to the European minimal sounds and disco edits that proliferated at the time, and their vinyl-only releases gained them underground success at a time when the format was in decline.

In the 13 years since, the project has been host to a rotating cast of guest vocalists, including A Certain Ratio’s Simon Topping, Arthur Baker, Josh Caffe and the late trans activist and DJ, Bubbles Bubblesynski. On this performance they’re joined by regular collaborator Mutado Pintado with visuals by Bob Jaroc.

Classic drum machines and synths such as the Roland TR-808, TR-909 and SH-101 lie at the heart of their setup, with acid lines provided by the Cyclone Analogic TT-303 Bass Bot. Effects come from a host of cheap Korg Monotron Delay units, which slather vocals and synths in a grimy echo.

Paranoid London’s latest album, 2019’s PL, is available now. You can find the rest of their catalogue, including their ongoing series of edits, at Bandcamp."
