"The CS-40m is a duophonic (2-voice) analog synthesizer that was introduced in 1979. Although Yamaha had already conquered polyphony with their legendary 8-voice , the CS-40m offered a more affordable approach to something other than a mono-synth. It has a semi-compact 44 note (3 1/2 octave) keyboard, 36 knobs, 12 sliders and over a dozen buttons for easy hands-on performance and editing. This CS-40m is in great working condition with the exception of the programmer, it no longer store patches. All other functions are 100%, and the factory programs can still be recalled to memory. AC power cable included, serial number 1400."

PAIA 2700/4700 MODULAR ANALOG SYNTHESIZER

"A few years ago I decide to take my 1974ish PAiA synthesizer and rebuild it. I researched components by consulting with Scott Lee of PAiA. I designed custom panels through Front Panel Express. To keep the engraving costs down I went with a minimalistic look that was reminiscent of PAiA yet totally original with a vintage vibe, especially the knobs.

I had Steve Wood, a former PAiA Tech from back in the day, do all the module refurbishing. Most of the major components on the boards were replaced & all ICs socketed. The audio path has upgraded caps and Burr-Brown op-amps. All front panel parts and hardware are new. Taking Marvin Jones’ advice, I replaced all the control voltage “pin jacks” with 3.5mm audio jacks. These are grounded so I could interface the PAiA with my other modular gear.

Multi-turn pots are used for VCO frequency tuning (they look like the pots on the old “Putney” synth!). The “bouncy” push button switches are replaced by momentary toggle switches and all of the switches are now toggle switches with vintage looking paddles.

"here's a quick little improvisation on the Sequential Prophet 5 using one of my favorite types of synth bass sounds. It's essentially a square wave with a touch of resonance and low pass filter envelope action. hope you like it. all sounds in this video (except drums) are coming from the P5.

Novation Circuit + Elektron Analog Keys - Confidence

"A jam with lots of arpeggios. Analog Keys is doing bass, the two randomish arpeggios, and the solo. Circuit is doing drums and the two repeating arpeggios. This was honestly a lot of fun to write. I usually have a hard time combining gear because my brain only likes to focus on one thing at a time, but I think the digital character of the Circuit's Nova engine really complements the analog pedigree of the Keys. Let me tell you how difficult it is to change encoders on both instruments at the same time, though; the Circuit's have a linear response to speed, and the Keys' have an exponential response (I much prefer the Circuit's).


I don't know what's going on with the hand wiggling during the solo. I think I'm trying to send good vibratos to the Keys? Haha. Recording this made me remember how much I hate playing live. Ten takes later, and the first take is still the best one somehow.


The Circuit is being routed through the Analog Keys' input, and everything's recorded over USB through Overbridge in Reaper. The Analog Keys can actually function as a 2 input audio interface, which is basically what I'm doing here. Some mixing in post, and mastering in Ozone Elements.

"PRO SOLOIST has a very distinctive aftertouch. You can apply vibrato or pitch bend by pressing the keyboard deeply after making it sound. You can change the tone very finely by controlling the degree of pressing.
The sound is a 1VCO mono synth, but its analog sound is thick and warm, and has a very strong presence. By making the best use of the aftertouch mentioned above, you can play a very lively sound.
Unfortunately the synth needs attention. The synth powers up and plays but some of the presets aren’t working and the signal isn’t powerful as it should be. Also the aftertouch isn’t functioning."

"Oberheim OB-8 in beautiful cosmetic condition, fully serviced, calibrated and fully functional. One of the nicest OB-8s in the market at the moment. The front panel is very clean with very minor scratches. Please refer to the posted pictures. I zoomed in as much as possible to highlight those scratches. These scratches are less visible on the actual unit. The original wooden end cheeks are also very clean as can be seen in the posted picture.

This OB-8 has is serviced by one of the best techs in Alberta, Canada as of December 2020. Here is the list of the works done on this OB-8:

• All capacitors and bridge
rectifiers are replaced by high quality ones from Synthchaser's “Power Supply Capacitor & Rebuild” kit.
• All capacitors and fixed resistors are replaced with high quality ones from Synthchaser's “Voice Board Ultimate Service” kit.
• Two faulty CEM3310 filter envelope chips on voices 1 and 3 (U111 and U311) are replaced.
• Two faulty CEM3340 VCO chips are replaced with the new CEM3340 Rev G chips on voices 1 and 3.
• Soldered-in battery are replaced with a 2xAAA holder, into which Energizer Ultimate Lithium cells were inserted. A silicon diode (1N4148) was inserted in series with batteries to drop appropriate voltage. Holder mounted within easy reach upon cover removal.
• The following trimpots are adjusted (on all voices where applicable): oscillator 1 V/oct., oscillator 2 V/oct., filter envelope modulation, filter resonance, filter V/oct., filter initial frequency, and lower voice board output level.
• Power supply voltage trimpots T1 and T2 are adjusted.
• All control potentiometers are cleaned to fix scratchiness/intermittency on several controls.
• The MIDI functionality is tested
and the unit receives, transmits, and passes through MIDI data normally.
• All the trimmer are adjusted. No problems whatsoever with the existing trimmers.
• All voice panpots are
tested.
• DAC and bend lever calibration are checked.
• All LEDs are Checked.
• The unit is calibrated according to the factory manual."
