MakeProAudio X - DinoPark Mobile EX (Synth Engine Play-through)

video upload by NOISEBUG

"Here is a walkthrough of all the DinoPark synth engines with some of our favorite patches. In the video we see the DinoPark Mobile EX though these synth engines are common to DinoPark Eurorack, DinoPark Mobile and DinoPark Mobile EX."

Note the synth engines are from the Creamware SCOPE Platform, also found in the Use Audio Plugiator. DinoPark is also available as a eurorack model. You can find additional posts here.

via Noisebug

"DINODIALS - ADD MORE KNOBS AND A SNAPSHOT FEATURE!
DinoDials are an optional expansion for DinoPark mobile (and mobile EX) devices and can be slided into the rails on the top of the unit. DinoDials come in two sizes - with either 8 or 12 touch-sensitive and freely assignable encoders! The display of the DinoPark will show the name of the parameter already when you slightly touch a knob - that makes “remebering” parameters real easy. Your favourite parameters in direct reach - great for your performance!

Another great performance feature is the Snapshot functionality which the DinoDial makes available! The encoders have a push switch function. A long push will store whatever sound is currently heard for later recall. Then, when playing live, a quick push of an encoder will recall the model/sound combination in a fraction of a second! and DinoPark does it in a fraction of a second. You can save as many different Snapshots as there are knobs - so 8 for the DinoDials 8 and 12 for the larger DinoDials variant!

THE SECRET BEHIND THE SOUND
There are specialized synthesizers that give you great results within their limited scope of specialization. Then there are versatile synthesizers that cover a large sonic spectrum using a sample-playback engine. And then there is DinoPark.

Nothing quite compares to its coupling of modular software technology and dedicated uber powerful Analog Devices SHARC DSP processor to do the sonic math. It’s this unprecedented technology pairing that puts DinoPark - and its CreamWare predecessors like Noah and the ASB units - in a class all by itself and how it can emulate such a variety of synthesizers and synthesis forms, in the most minute detail. DinoPark is a multi- specialist that can load - and perform as responsive hardware - very different synthesis specialization, thus being able to cover a very large sonic spectrum while delivering superior sound quality, like only specialized synthesizers can.

Introducing the Vectra Synthesizer...

The Vectra is a unique digital-analog hybrid synthesizer providing four oscillators, white and pink noise sources, four ring modulators, a four-channel mixer, five LFO’s, six morphing envelopes, six primary multimode analog filter types, a main analog VCA, and numerous internal modulation routings and VCA’s controlling modulation amounts.

It really is like having a powerful self-contained semi-modular synthesizer with approximately 500 internal signal routings, and around 256 storable sound parameters.

The Vectra's synthesis architecture is designed to allow the greatest flexibility in recreating multiple synthesis techniques of the past while introducing several new innovations and methods.

The oscillators are digital as this provides the highest degree of tuning stability, while allowing both traditional virtual analog waveforms and 500 digital waveforms. With features like oscillator Sync, PWM, our new waveform Phase Slice, and Fade features, independent glide times per oscillator, constant beat detuning, monophonic and eight paraphonic voice modes, not to mention FM, AM, Ring-modulation, and dedicated LFO’s, Envelopes, and VCA’s per oscillator really make these oscillators a power house.

The four-channel mixer is unique in that it provides an even balance when mixing multiple sources, either manually with the joystick, or applying automated vector mixing, or mixer modulation.

The five LFO’s provide 500+ waveforms to choose from, with their frequency spanning from sub-audio to well into the audio range. Their frequency can be stationary or track keyboard notes with glide. Waveforms can sync to any waveform phase at a note-on, and they can be frequency modulated as well. In short they can be used as LFO’s, complex envelopes, or audio rate oscillators.

The six morphing envelopes are really something else. With each envelope providing initial Delay, Attack, Hold, Decay, Sustain, Release, as well as a loop time when set to Repeat. Ultra precise and snappy, they provide envelope times from 0ms to 14.7 seconds per each stage. Each envelope provides multiple envelope curve selections, and can be one-shot, normal envelope types, or looping. And did you notice they can morph? Yes, that’s right! All six envelopes can morph and modulate between two individual values per each envelope stage.

New Doepfer A-126-2 Frequency Shifter Eurorack Module

via @noisebug

"All new product releases! The long awaited Doepfer A-126-2 analog frequency shifter has arrived!"

"Module A-126-2 is a fully analog frequency shifter for audio signals.

A frequency shifter is an audio processing unit that shifts each frequency of the incoming audio signal by the same frequency. If the shifting frequency is e.g. 200Hz an incoming audio frequency of 1000 Hz becomes 1200 Hz, 2000Hz becomes 2200 Hz, 3000 Hz becomes 3200 Hz and so on. Pay attention that this is different from pitch shifting where all frequencies are shifted proportional (e.g. 1000>1200Hz, 2000>2400Hz, 3000>3600Hz) !

The frequency range of the internal quadrature VCO is about 8 octaves (about 20Hz ... 5kHz). If required an external quadrature VCO can be used.

The module is equipped with these controls, inputs and outputs:

New SND FB-14 Mk2 Fixed Filterbank 1U Rack

via @Noisebug

"The SND FB-14 MKII is in stock and shipping!

"The SND Fixed Filterbank FB-14 MkII is a high end filter bank executed in discrete circuit technology. It is a 14 band equalizer with optimized expanded control areas. That means that not only sound corrections and drastic surgery are possible but also impressive enhancements to your sound material.

The control area per frequency band is circa 20 dB, and unusual but musically sense making is the order of filter frequencies in fifth intervals.

The FB-14 is a noble speciality due to its classic class a switching technique; circuitry that has been made by Mr Niessen himself with the upper most precision.

Four transistors are located in the signal path, two of them are germanium-types with tube like overdriving characteristics.

The sound quality of the FB-14 is in no way inferior to its technical qualities and impress deeply in every aspect: Average kick drums become beautifully intense and well rounded; static drone sounds turn into expansive sound landscapes; and nearly every kind of processed sound material glows with an expensive silkyness.

Almost with an added definition and clarity that touches the heights one aims to achieve in the mastering studio.

Not only does it blend perfectly into every mix, it adds a touch of class to the sound.

Incredible is also the use of frequency selective distortion’s with extreme setting possibilities. Even the most brutally distorted drum loops will not be mashed, but always sound nicely overdriven as well as being superbly eq’d.

Features:
14 Bands with frequencies 35, 65, 105, 160, 240, 360, 540, 800, 1200, 1800, 2700, 4000, 7000 and 12000 Hz (Fith Intervals)
A 2-Pole filter with control area +/-20dB(!) per band, Q-Factor around 0,7 at +/-10dB and 6 at +/-20dB
Level Regulator in Input- and Output
Input Amplification Adjustable between +/-20dB
Bypass switch on the front side"

"This EML 101 is fully serviced by in-house technicians, fully functional and in excellent condition. It sounds awesome.

The ElectroComp 101 is the successor to the rare ElectroComp 100 from Electronic Music Laboratories (EML), a small synthesizer company based out of Connecticut in the USA. Like the ARP 2600, the 101 is a patchable (1/4'' patch cords) semi-modular synth with a pre-wired voice path that can be over-ridden via patching. But unlike the ARP (or MiniMoog for that matter), the 101 has as many as four oscillators (two of which can go sub-sonic, for use as LFOs). The 101 is also Duophonic so you can play up to two notes at once. Another major distinction was that unlike Moog and ARP, who used transistors that would tend to drift out of tune under various operating temperatures, EML used op amps which proved to be far more stable and reliable.

Other onboard features include a voltage controlled 12 dB/oct multi-mode filter with resonance, two envelope generators, ring/amplitude modulator, noise, and sample-and-hold (they call this the "Sampler"). In addition, the 101 makes no distinction between control voltage and audio paths allowing just about any source to be patched to any control or audio input in any order. The 101 could easily be closed, secured and carried inside its wood casing.

This synthesizer is fantastic. It's warm, punchy, powerful and has lot of bite not to mention a sound that sets it apart from its contemporaries and, for that matter, any other synth."

"This Kurzweil K2000 V3 was owned by Malcolm Cecil

Serial: 21950509265 Overall this synth is pretty dirty and has some scuffs and scratches on the enclosure. The back also has a size-able chunk of the plastic broken off leaving some of the internals exposed. It would benefit from a tune up just because some of the faders are a bit scratchy when moved and it may be wise to think of a solution for the exposed part. When you power the synth on there is a warning that states the battery voltage is low however other than this message and the obvious cosmetic issues, the synth actually functions as intended and sounds great. Comes with the sample disk. Comes in a big gator case. IEC cable is not included.

"This New England Digital Synclavier II System is owned by Malcolm Cecil

This NED system and keyboard is being sold as is. It comes with the Synclavier II keyboard as well as rack unit with midi inputs/outputs and Sample to disk units. There are some proprietary cables needed to fully test this unit so we are unable to fully perform diagnostics. The rack units appear to be in pretty good shape cosmetically and come housed in the blue road case in which these NED systems were known for. This will likely require someone who is knowledgable in operating these units and it is very possible some repairs will need to be done. The keyboard itself is fairly dusty and will likely need to be cleaned internally as well. There are also a few sticky keys.

"This the 1U Rack version of the Virus B. So it has most of the same features as that one but trimmed just a bit. Still, it has 16 voice polyphony, and 3 oscillators per voice! It can respond to 16 midi channels simultaneously, so it is a 16 part multi-timbral virtual analog synth. So many great things to say about this synth it would take too long to list. It does things no other machine can do. I've used this in my studio for a couple years now and it's always delivered. The only real minor issue is the encoder knobs are pretty jumpy. This is a common thing with the virus rack classic and XL. Totally fine for programming sounds but not good for realtime performance style tweaking."

Logic in Eurorack with EAS from INSTRUO

Everything you need to know about logic in Eurorack with EAS from INSTRUO
video upload by DivKidVideo

"Hello and welcome to my ultimate guide to using boolean logic gates creatively and musically for music synthesis. This video is a demo of the eas Eurorack module by Instruo but it’s also an in depth tutorial on all things logic with a 'DivKid’s Logic 101' beginners guide to logic gates that ramps right through more advanced patch based problem solving.

eas is a multi channel logic module with 4 logic gates and 7 simultaneous outputs in 4HP. It also featuring some clever normalising of inputs and outputs to allow for a greater amount of varied signals from less inputs.

Logic can be such a great problem solver for a Eurorack system that I jumped at the chance to make this video a hybrid of demoing a specific Eurorack module but also making something that can serve as a tutorial for the use of logic gates anywhere you may find them, in any format. We’ll be turning basic clocks into melodies, making unique beats from simple gate sources, syncing up sloppy playing, processing audio with CMOS style ring modulation, creating possibly the greatest gated fuzz fx and plenty more. The timing index is below so you can skip around and the find the right sections to suit."

eãs
Logic gates were originally used for the implementation of Boolean functions in computation and in electronic devices. These functions were performed on one or more binary inputs to create a single binary output.

In music synthesis, this concept can be appropriated for many things including the creation of interesting rhythmic patterns as well as patch-based problem solving.

eãs is the be all and end all of logic modules. Sporting all of the classic logic gate functions, it includes AND, NAND, OR, NOR, XOR, XNOR, and NOT.

Everything from syncopated rhythmic structures, to CMOS-style ring modulation, to creative solutions to your patch’s most glaring issues, eãs is there.

Logic, after all, is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it.

eãs | noun (nature) a cascade of water falling from a height, formed when a river or stream flows over a precipice or steep incline."
