Moog Little Phatty VS Moog Subsequent 37 #moog #subsequent37 #synth

video upload by celuser

"Comparison of Moog Little Phatty and Moog Subsequent 37.
I tried to balance the sound levels as much as possible.
Subsequent technically has a lot of advantages over Little Phatty, but I don't know if we can say the same for sound.
I would not say that it is a very entertaining video, but I believe it will help (or be more confused) to those who want to make a choice.
Enjoy watching"

"This synth takes a little to understand its capabilities, but it can scream some tone that I've yet to hear from anything else. It has a through so you can plug your guitar, drum machine or whatever and let the fun start."

RF Modular self patch using the new Audio & CV Mixer module

video upload by Radical Frequencies Modular

"In this video I'm using my new module the Audio & CV Mixer!
Actually I use 2 mixers one for mixing 4 different waveforms from the oscillators and another for mixing different control voltages and then modulating the filter and vcos .
The dpvco and admultivco are the main oscillators and the cv modulations that are mixed for making more complex modulations are : lucky voltages, 2 looping vc envelopes and scota vcf that is used as modulation source like a dual cross mod lfo. The sound after the mixer goes to 12db multi Vcf in bandpass mode and then to vca."

Behringer JT-4000 Micro - How Does It Sound?

video upload by Behringer

"JT-4000 is an extremely powerful and portable 4-Voice Hybrid Paraphonic Synthesizer with 2 Analog Modelling Oscillators per Voice, Analog Filter, Arpeggiator, and OLED.

The JT-4000 is modeled after the JP-8000, which defined the Trance genre of electronic dance music that emerged from the British new-age music scene and the early 1990s German techno and hardcore scenes.

In this sound demo, 'The Synth King' truly shows off the true power of the JT-4000. You can check out more of the Synth King's awesome work here: https://bit.ly/3ipdvYx

Power the JT-4000 via your phone and connect it to your headphones or play it via USB/MIDI keyboard and a PA or recording system. Don’t let the small size fool you - it’s a full-blown synthesizer in a micro package.

Development is complete and once we receive chips it’ll go straight into production.

Estimated price US $49

As with all the recently announced synthesizers, be sure to subscribe to the channel for further sound demos coming very soon!

Maarten Vos - live @SUPERBOOTH21

video upload by Superbooth Berlin

"The Dutch artist Maarten Vos played an incomparable set on the Seaside-Stage at SUPERBOOTH21. With the otherworldly Haken Continuum, a Buchla synthesizer and a Eurorack Modular System he took the audience a sonic journey.

Known as much for his outlier, exploratory approach to the cello as his work with modular synthesizers, he’s constantly exploring the boundaries of what can be done with certain instruments. His work is influenced by numerous collaborations with artists like Julianna Barwick, Stimming, Colin Benders and by excursions into other art forms, where he composed music for various disciplines, collaborated with fashion designers, visual artists and scored music for film.

Strymon Timeline tutorial: Looping in perfect sync

video upload by Richard DeHove

"If you want to use a looper with drum machines and synths then it's imperative your looper be in perfect sync. For that you need it to be clocked and deliver a precise loop length and a start point in sync with all your other devices.
Happily the Strymon Timeline can do this easily when teamed with a sequencer. Record, start and stop commands (and others) can be delivered by MIDI note number. Here I'm using an Arturia Keystep-37 to send the commands to the Timeline which captures an audio loop from the DB-01. Even better, the process is absolutely seamless - and in stereo! This is something even many expensive dedicated looper pedals can't easily achieve.
Take things a step further and you can sequence all sorts of interesting audio manipulations using the looper function.
If you're impatient and just want the guts of the method, watch from 4:11 to 7:30.

0:00 Intro blather
0:28 What you need
1:11 Looper note numbers
1:30 MIDI setup basics
2:30 Timeline looper settings
3:35 Looper mode
4:11 MIDI record sequence
5:22 Playback sequence
6:12 Start recording !
7:30 Second example
8:10 Pre-FX mode
9:00 Third example loop
10:20 Reverse loop
11:25 Half-speed
13:00 Combining commands

( And I'm still unhappy at buying the murky grey-green Timeline just before the "midnight edition" was announced :/ )

Behringer Teases CS Mini - 3 Voice Mini Yamaha CS80

Oberheim OB-X vs. SonicProjects OP-X PRO-II

video upload by

"A dry 1:1 comparison of the SonicProjects OP-X PRO-II virtual Oberheim VST AU software synth to an Oberheim OB-X Rev.2.

Both the OB-X and the OP-X PRO-II were recorded 100% dry and unprocessed over an RME Fireface UC - the OB-X over the line inputs and the OP-X PRO-II via optical cable over the optical S/PDIF-input. What you hear is the pure 24-bit recording. Of course there unfortunately will be some compression artefacts from YouTube.

Used hardware and software:

Korg MicroKey 37 MIDI keyboard
MacBook Air 2020 M1
macOS Monterey 12.1
Logic Pro 10.7.2
RME Fireface UC
SonicProjects OP-X PRO-II version 1.2.6 synth interface standard
Obererheim OB-X Rev. 2 with 6 voices installed

The exact detunings (deviating filter settings, warm up pitch drift, etc.) and the individual pan settings of the voices of OB-X have been copied voice by voice in every detail with the voice-based tuning features of OP-X PRO-II for a perfect match to the real synth.

To copy the bright sound OP-X PRO-II uses the BRL (brilliant) filter setting (DMP button, second button above voice mutes in the synth interface) which is dedicated to copy the sound character of the early OB-X and allows the filter to open into the ultra sound area and adds some extra shine in the heights.

The used patches are available in the synth's included banks library in this bank: Downloaded / PROII_COMPARISON"
