HWJ Extra - ’Noisevember' 22 2023 ambient

video upload by SynthAddict

"Osmose and RC-505

Ambient noisy stuff - some sad, some pretty…
It just occurred to me as the clock rolled over when I was playing this
that my Mom’s b-day started as I was in the middle of it.
We miss her very much. Hug your loved ones often, as they can slip away
anytime. 😢 RIP Mom, 11/21/93 ❤️

Happy Thanksgiving to all! 11/23/23"

Roland Jupiter-8 for Tyler

video upload by foleytronics fx repair

"Here is a demo of the Roland Jupiter-8 with a CR-78 and SRE-555 chorus echo. This JP8 had an interesting problem that many units with Encore MIDI have: an annoying click sound when moving any of the programmable sliders. It has since been solved and repaired and sounds lovely as ever!"

Timber - Exploring Bastl's Most Underrated Module

video upload by Oscillator Sink

"Timber is a dual waveshaping module combining clipping and wave-folding circuits in a typically "Bastl Way" which combines some novel routing with utility that you wouldn't necessarily expect to find in a module of this type. It is also, in my opinion, Bastl's most underrated module as its ability to transform and animate a signal is huge considering its small size.

This video hopefully serves as half-video manual, half-sonic exploration of this module.

Transparency notice: the Basil module was provided to me by Bastl for free for the purposes of making content about it. I was not otherwise paid and Bastl did not request, nor were they given any editorial oversight."

Elektron Analog Four/Keys Presets: Leads, Chords, FXs. Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

"'Evolving Voice' is a collection of 64 sounds for Elektron Analog Four.
Movement is the main focus of the soundset. The patches feature modulations that change the sound over time — whether slow or fast, tempo-synced or free-running, complex or simple.
The bank of presets features various tones: soft, hard, metallic, vintage, modern, deep, bright, epic, acid, noisy, detuned, percussive, and others.

💽 Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/anal...

The pack includes: 33 Leads, 16 FXs, 15 Chords. The chords are not polyphonic; they utilize a single voice. The chords are crafted with oscillators tuned to different intervals. When you press a single key, you obtain a minor or major chord. You can transpose the chords using keys. Additionally, you may use Parameter Lock (changing oscillators in semitones) to switch between minor and major or vice versa to seamlessly fit a chord into a progression.

All presets are Velocity-sensitive and have ModWheel modulations.

The soundset is suitable for a wide range of genres: techno, house, deep, minimal, progressive, trance, ambient, electronica, IDM, trip-hop, lounge, downtempo, chill out, new age, cinematic, industrial, breakbeat, breaks, jungle, drum and bass, dub and many others.

The Korg Wavestation - Orbital's Halcyon+On+On Synth

video upload by Bleeps and Boops

"I have a Wavestation SR in my rack of 90s stuff, so thought it might be good to show how to program it. Or at least *try* to program it.

Edisyn - the PC/Mac editor I use later in the video can be found at https://github.com/eclab/edisyn

Korg's Legacy Collection or Wavestation plugin can be found in all sorts of places. I still haven't forgiven them for not being able to fix my MS20ic back in 2006... and have sadly been without an MS20 ever since 😢"

"ULTRA RARE! Amazing analogue Arranger drum machine made by Godwin Sisme in 1973. Complete of k32 keyboard, P32 pedal, original volume pedal and The original metal stand. Cosmetically perfect! The machine sounds very good is really warm and beatiful. Quite IMPOSSIBLE to find another like this complete and ready to play. Extremely rare and collectable. Used by kraftwerk!"

"Multimoog is the big brother of the Micromoog, both were kind of unique synthesizers for Moog at the time. They both feature morphable waveform VCOs, Open-System CV patch points, a sub-oscillator, and ribbon controllers in replace of the pitch wheel. The Multimoog also adds a second VCO with the same waveform morphing, velocity and pressure control from the keyboard, and routable destinations for the ribbon. It looks fairly limited from the front but you can conjure up some interesting timbres pretty quickly and easily with the knobs and switches provided.

This unit was just gone over / serviced by our in-house tech, cleaned and calibrated."

Roland Jupiter 6 61-Key Synthesizer with Europa Mod

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Roland Jupiter 6 with Europa mod. Plays excellent. Listed as very good, as it has a soldering iron ding on one of the rightmost black keys as visible in the pictures.

The Jupiter-6 is an incredible analog synth. All of the Jupiters have a sound that was unlike any other synthesizer and the Jup 6 is no exception. This sound is due in part to classic analog Roland technology in its filters, modulation capabilities and a thick cluster of 12 analog oscillators at 2 per voice. Easy and intuitive programming via front panel sliders, knobs and buttons for all your tweaking needs.

Europa firmware upgrade for the Jupiter-6 which gives it an up-to-date and comprehensive MIDI implementation. All parameters are controllable via Continuous Controller or SysEx. Europa also features an extensive arpeggiator which will sync to MIDI clock with programmable clock divisors and rhythms, and has about 50 more playback variations than the JP-6's original Up, Down, Up/Down, and Down/Up. A Europacized Jupiter-6 is a thoroughly modern synth with a classic sound."

UDO Audio Super Gemini - Presentation Sonic LAB

video upload by sonicstate

"Always a pleasure to spend time in the company of George Hearn from UDO Audio, and especially as he brought the production ready Super Gemini poly synth with him.
The Super Gemini is now officially shipping, units are leaving the buillding and soon the 20 voice (10 in binaural mode) FPGA oscillator equipped synth will be making its way into the hands of those lucky folks whov'e ordered one.
Two FPGA oscillators per voice, (with 3rd trackable LFO), Analogue filter, analogue VCA with two discrete synth layers that can be played in two 5 voice each (binaural oscillator mode), or 10 voice per synth, each with discrete controls and chorus/delay FX.
In the hands of George it sounds wonderful, - in fact if you are an upper tier supporter, we've posted some additional playing in another post to whet your whistle.
Its not cheap, ut you do get a heck of a lot of synthesizer for your money..
Super Gemini is shipping and available now priced at £3799 from all good retailers."

"Sorry for the terrible video quality. A shame cause I did it to show some patches using the phaser in feedback mode, connecting its output to its input.
I should have checked the recording after making the focus manually (obv. totally wrong!).
I’m sharing nevertheless as the audio is not affected.
Here I explain how I use the phaser in feedback mode:"

Bad Shape | Adventures with a broken Intellijel ShapeShifter

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"I am preparing a video for the Intellijel Sealegs delay which was also good opportunity to refres my limited knowledge of Metropolix, ShapeShifter and Rainmaker. I got the ShapeShifter used, and it's never been in good shape. I never found the time or need to send it in for repairs because it has to go to Canada and there's no warranty.

So when I use ShapeShifter, I need to recalibrate it, or even reinstall the firmware when presets are lost. It has amnesia so my guess is that its memory doesn't survive a long powerdown. I was curious if all the necessary software would still work. I think ShapeShifter was introduced somewhere around 2014 and the digital world is changing much faster than analog.

After installing firmware, my ShapeShifter turns into a super advanced LFO because the VCO still needs calibration. I think it ticks below 1 Hz from time to time. It's useless as a voice in this state, but it can still make amazing sounds. I may have to keep it like this and find myself a new one. But it's not a bad thing."
