3am - the rest should be obvious

video upload by justin3am

"Lots to like in this video. Cat cameos, out-of-focus objects from my yard and of course synthesizers. Even some guitar, if that's your thing. I had a lot of fun putting this one together.

Featuring Serge, Buchla and Eurorack modular synthesizers, a Cocoquantus2, Elektron Octatrack, Analog Four, a bunch of effects and all recorded/edited/mixed in Bitwig Studio."

Kawai SX-240 noodling

video upload by SynthMania

"An old file from the late 1990s that I found in an old archive, from back when I had a Kawai SX-240 (cool synth from the mid-1980s). Noodles on that synth. I don't remember which reverb I used."

OB6 Dub Techno

video upload by Lucas Marchal

"After lusting about a poly for a year at least, I finally stopped thinking about it and got an OB6 module. I've only had it for a few days so allow me to revel into the delicious sound of that continuously variable filter. Take this video as some shameless filter noodling with a bit of Dub Techno sprinkled on top.

OB6 & Alphabase, no overdubs."

Metaconformer is SimpleXFM now, a surprisingly deep FM synthesizer

video upload by Floyd Steinberg

"SOMA Labs released a firmware that turns their #Metaconformer #midi processor/router/splitter/merger into a 4 voice, 4 part multitimbral #fmsynth with comb filters and multiple modulation destinations, which can lead to some pretty expressive and/or noisy sounds."

► Unique custom presets by Jexus ► Minifreak soundset (V plugin compatible).

video upload by Jexus (sounds-for-synths.com)

"Thoughts & info: https://sounds-for-synths.com/arturia...

My presets come under the name [WCOG+number] in a soundbank ("mnfx") format. You can import the presets to your Minifreak V plugin or your hardware Minifreak via the official Arturia software. Firmware 2.0 is the minimum you must have (you don't need any custom samples or wavetables). You will receive all the sounds from all my demos plus extra. This is over 300 patches / presets in total. Mod wheel is assigned in all of the presets. Aftertouch is assigned in some of the presets. None of the presets have the macros active – macros are free for you to assign as you like.

I did not use any external FX in the demo; all the delays, reverbs, noises & sound deformations are part of the Minifreak engine / sound design. However, I used some EQ-ing & limiting on some of the sounds."

"Rare vintage EPro Minisynth analog synthesizer keyboard. This was made in Holland in the early 1980s. Operates at 220v (you'll need a 110v step-up transformer to use in the USA, an approximately $30 part, we can make recommendations for one if needed just ask). Apparently only approximately 25 of these units were made, possibly made by the company DGS which had manufactured two synths, the Scorpion and this Mini-Synth. It looks similar to the Holland made Synton Syrinx from the same time period. This is a CEM based synthesizer with loads of CEM chips inside. It's in great shape for its age and fully functional. Sounds lovely, a unique rare synthesizer."

"Not to be confused with the Crumar Bit One keyboard, this is the rack of the Bit 99. The older Bit One keyboard contained SSM chips. This unit contains CEM chips. It sounds great!

This unit's been professionally serviced and is working perfectly. We installed the excellent Tauntek OS which adds full MIDI CC control over all parameters - this makes it much more useful as you can automate parameters and program it from midi CC knob boxes or computer editors, and is a must have.

We also installed a new battery and replaced capacitors in the power supply as a preventative measure.

This unit was originally sold in Europe (as most of them were) and is therefore 220 volts, so if you're not in a country where that's the norm, you'll need the correct transformer. These are cheap and readily available."

"Ensoniq Mirage rack DMS1 with Gotek USB floppy emulator. Manual, advanced sampling guide, quick reference card, and a USB stick with several folders of Ensoniq sound disks and 3rd party disk libraries. The OS still loads as slowly as it did from diskette, but the sounds load faster, and a single USB drive can hold many disks/partitions. The included USB drive will also have utilities and conversion tools for the floppy emulator."

Interesting bit of synth history if true. As always, feel free to comment below.

Update: new description from the listing:

"This is an original owners manual for a Roland System 100 Model 101 synthesizer. This has signs of use and has the word "MASTER" written on it, as it was the master that Roland US used to make photocopies from to sell.

This also includes a fold out advertising brochure for the System 100 included.

I worked at Roland, so, yeah, it's the real deal. Would be happy to prove it if you're in doubt."

And via the seller in the comments below:
"Its real and true. I (Boomer) worked at Roland almost a decade. When Roland moved and got rid of a lot of old parts (and employees) one of the things they axed was owners manuals reprinting. For years they just photocopied manuals for anything that wasn't a current product. You see "master" written on many copies of manuals circulating the internet, and I own just about all of those masters. I have decided to let them go since I only keep them carefully stored away, and someone else might actually use these or showed off like they should be. If anyone questions the authenticity, I can easily prove I worked there and that the story is true. Or you can contact any of the authorized US service centers and ask if they know me, as I was in charge of assisting every one of them with piano, synth, organ or sampler repairs remotely."

SUPERBOOTH 2024: Timeless Garden - Horizon Experimental Synth

via Timeless Garden

"Horizon celebrates a world of ambiguous dualities~~ harmony/chaos, smooth/stepped, intuitive/practiced, manual/automatic. Built around an invertible heirarchy of pinged-filter cores, and a resonant garden of delays and filters. A rapid and responsive playing surface, smoothly blurring between textures or precisely sculpting a spectral landscape. Honed musicians and freeform experimentalists alike will find their own personal expressions within.

At centre, two Mountains of pinged filters, cross-coupled with smooth and stepped frequency modulation. These pings flow into a resonant filterbank and stereo delays, guided and recirculated by Tide sliders. The filterbank follows the path of 5 Bird sliders, collecting resonances from a playful just-intoned scale generator. Between these worlds flow Currents controlled by the touch surface, capable of wrangling chaos into pure tones or latching into sequences for otherwise busy hands. As the Tides ebb and flow, sequence & delay times are modulated in rhythmic/harmonic steps transforming relationships and shifting priorities.

Sitting proudly at the centre of a performance, or nestled into a larger setup with Eurorack CV i/o. Process external sounds, or use global feedback for an added layer of unpredictability."

HOME BAKE INSTRUMENTS BREAK MINT

video upload by HOME BAKE INSTRUMENTS

"BREAK MINT is a rhythm machine for breakbeats.

Equipped with an innovative drum sound source that allows breakbeats, which are generally composed of slices, to be constructed in the same way as regular drum sound sources. It also features a sequencer with 16 steps and 8 patterns, pattern chain playback, flam function, pattern mute, and other functions.

It consists of tones that are easy to use for HIPHOP, jungle, and acid. Additionally, the built-in stereo delay and overdrive allow for a wide range of expression.

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #138: cre8audio West Pest - Song 2

video upload by Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the second song recording with the West Pest. It's a monophonic semimodular analog synthesizer based on the Buchla philosophy using a wavefolder to create overtones to the VCO sound.

I used for the recording the following FX pedals:
Behringer Bode Frequency Shifter 1630, Line 6 DL4 MkII, Pigtronix Echolution² Deluxe, GFI System Specular Reverb², OTO Boum.
Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated.

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. On some tracks Compressor and EQ where added in Cubase 13. The final song was then mastered using iZotope Ozone.

Well, I decided to go back to the basics, but at the same time make something useful for the synth community and do a kind of competition (I like competitions;-). What's my best synth for ambient music :-)"

New Demos of the Upcoming Groovetube by Telmatronics

video uploads by Telmatronics

Playlist:
1. Good sounds on the bench
Production prototype running with pcb faults fixed. This circuit will go in to the first batch of machines.
2. Experimental plasma tube
This is the first custom tube made for this machine by Julia Bickerstaff @NeonJulia
We have more work to do on these, but this is a fantastic sound on first go!
The input signal here is low-frequency, the higher sounds are from the plasma. When the input is gated enough, you just hear the plasma sound.
3. Slow/mellow with input gate
The gate can be applied to input and/or output signals.
Here it is set half-on, and sent to input.
A mix of LFO signals can also be sent to the gate.
Still some noise on the input channels with this pcb, hoping the new board will be quieter...
4. Lots of distortion
With RF set low, lots of plasma noise that can be modified with a magnet. A few clips getting different distorted sounds, last one noisiest.
5. Lots of bass
Bass frequencies easily make the plasma break up as the input signal is large amplitude. The noise component varies a lot with tube power and input drive/waveform.
