Melbourne Instruments announce BITWIG STUDIO integration for ROTO-CONTROL

MELBOURNE, Australia, May 2, 2025: Melbourne Instruments continue to build on the success of their motorized synths, NINA and DELIA, and MIDI controller ROTO-CONTROL launched in January this year. Melbourne Instruments is pleased to announce BITWIG STUDIO integration for Roto-Control is now available as a public beta. This adds to Roto-Control’s acclaimed Ableton Live integration, and now Bitwig Studio users can take full advantage of Roto-Control features with their Bitwig projects.

Melbourne Instruments bring their revolutionary touch sensitive, motorized knob technology along with high-res screens and haptic control to Bitwig Studio users.

Bitwig Studio users can streamline their creative workflow and quickly evolve ideas with responsive physical control of Bitwig Studio through Roto-Control’s MIX and PLUGIN Modes. This new integration is a collaboration between Bitwig and Melbourne Instruments, responding to the overwhelming demand for Roto-Control support for Bitwig Studio.

Bitwig Studio integration marks the second DAW support for Roto-Control with additional DAW integration currently in the works.

SoundToys SpaceBlender Meets Best Analog Synth Moog Sub 37

video upload by Anton Anru

"🖲 Great news from Soundtoys – they’ve released a new plugin that creates stunning, spacey reverbs. It features an excellent interface and sound. With a simple twist, the reverb tail can be flipped into reverse, which sounds especially interesting on short decays synced to the tempo of your track.

🎛 The first thing I wanted to run through this effect was the Moog Subsequent 37 – the king of analog sound. This way, I could blend top-tier analog with digital magic. The result is epic.

📦 The Moog Sub37 presets and patterns used in this demo, along with over 200 preset banks for both hardware and software synths, are available here:

New Magnolia Keyboard Synth by Frap Tools Coming to SUPERBOOTH

via Frap Tools

Update: video here

"And here's what we'll bring to Superbooth: Magnolia is the prototype that kept us busy over the last year. It's gonna be an 8-voice analog throuhg-zero FM polyphonic synthesizer. At its heart, all the sounds you've met in our modules: Brenso, Cunsa, and so on. We could say a 'west coast polysynth', but it's capable of analog subtractive synthesis as well. We'll bring two pre-production units at @superbooth_berlin , so come check them out and stay in touch for some video and audio stuff!"

Ambient Music w/ Prophet-10, Rain sounds in Tokyo, Digitone | Weep 2025-05-02 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece created from the rain in Tokyo on  2  May  2025, the ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet‑10, and the ‪@WeAreElektron‬ Digitone. Quiet electronic tones resonate beneath the falling rain.

Rain ambience: Recorded with the built‑in mics on a ‪@TASCAMUSA‬ TASCAM X8.

Prophet‑10: Performed with ‪@strymon‬ blueSky reverb.

Digitone: Routed through ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ LOSSY and the MOOD MK II for additional processing. I tweak sound parameters while playing the keys, and the built‑in sequencer periodically triggers notes.

All instrument audio is captured via an audio interface and recorded in Ableton Live."

"My Own Eternity" (original Brussels School electronic ambient music)

video upload by No Lake

"What is Brussels School? I have no idea… but if it existed, I would like it to sound like this.

Something languorous yet captivating.
Electronic yet organic. Deep yet light.

This track can be found on my latest album 'Speaking of Analog', available everywhere. Feel free to ask for free Bandcamp key, just contact me: nolake.music@gmail.com

Headphones 🎧 recommended

The album is composed primarily of analog instruments. This track features a Summit layer, but (and few people know this) the Summit is equipped with analog filters and analog VCAs, so we are not completely far from the initial idea :-)"

Dynacord ADD One & ADD Drive Curtis filters

via this Reverb listing

Update: demo here

"A chance to own a complete ADD One set which is rare. I have had two half of these units (last sold for £2750/19) as it proved very difficult to obtain a complete set; here is your chance to bypass all of that. |

///
Very esoteric piece of kit, 8 channels of audio, 8x analog CEM 3389 Filters - quicksilver sound. 50khz sampling rate, de-emphasis and it has 4x 'smash' gain compressor on input too.

Each voice has separate pitch, LFO, filter, env control and the separate pitch, very tape like (8x separate DACs/clocking), in particular opens up lots of possibilities

///

Designed by the team that made the Oberheim Xpander (& Matrix 12) so it has a very modular structure, lfos, envelope, modifiers etc - unique.... far more than a drum machine. USA design teamed with West German engineering!

Calibrated (see photos of tests completed, satisfactorily), latest firmware installed, buttons tact switches (soldering req'd) replaced and VFD screen installed. New battery, in a battery pack (so you can change it yourself) installed too. Interface cable is new also, i made one up with new connectors - the cable is not cheap.

Replacing the tact buttons is not easy either - before someone says this is listed for too much. Nor is placing a VFD screen, or cleaning out the disk drive, upgrading the firmware etc. Ensuring it works all the time and every time.

Panning function, per voice, has been fixed too, most units people have will not have correct Pan it requires repair to the voice-card.

VFD is expensive, from Japan, no longer made and this is a new VFD last of a line.

Arrives with factory samples on disk, other samples I have made, and programs loaded into the memory - the programs are lost from most units on sale as internal battery has died.

Used by JMJ and others - he refers to it as 'Dynacord Addi' on listings to CD. Some of the drums on Zoolook are dynacord the ones that ripple (repeat very fast) and change in pitch. Also Prince.

Pricing (past sales) : £4114, LA, June '24, £5,000, Germany 2023 - that was one of my former units, sold on by the buyer. Open to offers, exchanges as ever."

Elastic OSC Jam with Red Sky Lullaby Presets

video upload by Oliver Greschke

"Elastic OSC will get released 5.5.25 !! 🥳
In this short noodle, I play with the presets created by Red Sky Lullaby. The Arturia MicroFreak is used only as a MIDI keyboard, all sounds and effects are generated by Elastic OSC itself.

Elastic OSC is a synthesizer app based on the DSP code of the Mutable Instruments Plaits hardware oscillator module, one of the most beloved (and cloned) oscillator module in the Eurorack modular scene! While Plaits is monophonic, Elastic OSC can also be used in 8-voice polyphonic mode. This means you can use it either as a sophisticated, experimental monophonic sound source — like the original — or as a regular polyphonic keyboard with a wide variety of great sounds. Of course, you can also combine both approaches!

Elastic OSC is designed for playability and simplicity – similar to the Plaits hardware, which has 4 Main Knobs for all essential Synth Parameters. Elastic OSC is essentially a one-screen app with no menu diving. It features two XY pads for intuitive sound manipulation of the OSC engine and the effects. Despite the simplicity of the clean interface, the sound possibilities are vast. Under the surface you’ll find 24 different oscillator models and the ability to automate parameter changes, as it is possible in all Elastic apps."

video upload by Matt Barber - Sounds from The Sandbox

"As I get things back together in the studio and try some different layouts here is a quick live jam of a little funky riff I was playing around with. I ended up playing a similar lead part on the Oberheim OB-8, then the Roland Jupiter 6, and then the Roland VK-7 combo organ over a bass line I forgot to lay down towards the beginning. Kinda fun and chill, definitely some retro 80's sounds....enjoy!

Bad Gear - SUBSEQUENT 25

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. Around 10 years ago a company - that is of course identical to the inMusic-owned Moog brand we know today - released what is probably THE ideal synth keyboard for aging bald guys who really love techno.

Today, however, we are going to talk about Subsequent 25. This recently discontinued analog mono synth comes without all the features that made its bigger sibling usable for actual musicians which turns it into the dream instrument for financially reckless internet posers.
