Knobcon 2025 Live Performances

video uploads by The Breathalyzer (Shawn Johnson Music)

A few Knobcon performances spotted and sent my way via Musical Miscellany (Poorness Studios).

Playlist: 1. Knobcon 2025 - Welcome Reception Set
Shortly after my arrival/check-in, I was asked if I could do a live set to open the Welcome Reception (the first live performances that open the annual Knobcon synth event). Just when you thought it was safe to go outside...in the big tent. Sorry for the bad camera work, everything was last minute, I didn't even have all the cabling I needed with me, lol. thanks to Brian Kupferschmid for the thumbnail photo
2. The Entire Robot Knobcon 2025 Welcome Reception (2:14)
Love Jeremy's soloing
3. The Entire Robot Knobcon Welcome Reception (3 minutes of blissful funk)
YEAH, MAN!
4. Chris Kuborn Afternoon Abstract Knobcon 2025
sorry for the obstruction there, here's Chris' complete performance (room audio). My room microphone was probably a little close, so the steel drum has a lot of presence.
5. TotoRobyn (Robyn Alman) Knobcon 2025 Afternoon Abstract
Live set from the Chill Out room at Knobcon
6. Brian Kupferschmid Afternoon Abstract Knobcon 2025
Very cool atmospheric/ambient guitar set from Brian.
7. Caro Arroba Knobcon 2025 Chill Out Room Set

8. Synsor (Steve McQuarry) Live at Knobcon 2025 Chill Out Room Set
The room audio was captured on a separate device, so it might not be syncrhonized with the video. The video freezes towards the end...low battery got me.

Synthesizer-Wettbewerb, Beitrag "Ambient Jam"

video upload by KEYBOARDS

"Ambient Jam with Polyend/Dreadbox Medusa and a few iPad apps.

A total of only 6 tracks, a simple chord progression, but with Probability/Random Notes from the Medusa and a few effects. It's all very chilled out and only using my "desktop setup" in my office. Since I usually only make music with hardware, this is a nice change and a challenge for me.

To visualize the whole thing more appealingly, I used a freely available NASA video in the background, which can be used for non-commercial purposes. The video was created with Adobe Premiere Pro. Everything else in the video, and of course the music, is mine.

I use the Medusa with Probability for melodic to whiny synth sounds, mostly with the wavetable oscillators. During recording, I play around with the filters and oscillators. The Medusa sequencer is synced to AUM by Kymatica.

I also recorded the bass beforehand using the Medusa and its analog oscillators. This is played back via the Koala sampler.

The track begins with a synth pad from Synthscraper/Igor Vasiliev

and two tracks of 'synthetic' water (one via the Koala Sampler, the other via the Spacecraft granular sampler). I tinkered around until I managed to create something reminiscent of flowing water from the noise and other sounds.

Klevgrand's Hillman, a phaser-equipped organ synth, is used to give the track a bit of a retro flair.

To increase the dynamics, Klevgrand's REAMP, a tube amp simulation, is later used.

Reverb from Eventide (BlackHole) was used except on the bass.

The mastering was done with GrandFinale 2, which was already in the signal path during recording."

Rhythms of Everyday Sounds and Kalimba : Intrusion 2025-09-08 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece created with ‪@teenageengineering‬ EP-133 K.O.II, OP-1 field, kalimba, and ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10. Electronica built from rhythms made by sampling percussion and everyday sounds, layered with kalimba and synthesizers.

On the EP-133 K.O.II, I sampled the sound of a children’s drum and other objects around the room to construct the rhythm. Using Punch-in FX, I added further processing with the ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MKII, applying SLIP, pitch shifting, and micro-loop effects.

The OP-1 field is synced to the EP-133 via USB, looping a 16-bar synth harmony while also performing melodies.

The kalimba is recorded with an NT-4 microphone.

On the Prophet-10, I adjust the filter cutoff while playing. Its output runs through the ‪@BOSSinfoglobal‬ DD-6 for delay and is further processed with ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ LOSSY for reverb and lo-fi effects."

CROSSOVER EURORACK MODULE | ADDAC System - ADDAC607

video upload by DANIELE

"This is ADDAC607 by ADDAC System, a mono 3 band Crossover featuring 4 pole, 12db Sallen-Key active filters and volume controls for each band!"

0:17 Inputs
0:32 Mono sum out and gain controls
1:02 Low range band
1:22 High range band
1:48 Mid range band
2:40 Equalization
3:38 Pairing it with an envelope follower

"Commonly audio Crossovers split an audio signal into several frequency ranges so that each resulting signal is adequate for the speaker drivers they are connected to, usually low range is sent to the big woofers, mid range to smaller woofers and high range to the tweeters.

Here we introduce our ADDAC607,a mono 3 band Crossover featuring 4 pole, 12db Sallen-Key active filters and volume controls for each band. Although ADDAC607 operates in Mono (for Stereo signals two modules can be used) there are 2 audio inputs that allow an easy way for Stereo to Mono summing. The [MONO SUM OUT] carries this summed signal. This output is pre-gain and can also be use as a buffered Thru output.

The possibility to split the signal into different bands makes possible several usefull processes, as examples:
- Independently process specific frequency ranges like adding delay only on the high range band
- Split a signal to feed 3 compressors for multiple band compression
- By controlling the [GAIN] knobs they can act as “kill” switches in DJ mixers to remove a whole band from the mix

This module is also a great companion for our ADDAC220 Dual Envelope Follower+ allowing to extract the dynamics from any signal in a focused frequency range allowing to, as an example, separate a kick drum from a snare.

There are three switches to select the bands operating ranges:
2KHz, 4KHz and 8KHz for the high range
370Hz, 620Hz and 1KHz for the low range

The three [GAIN] controls set the volume for each band. At noon they are unity gain, fully CW they are x2 amplifiers."

"The Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave 8M is here – the compact desktop module with huge power. From classic PPG tones to modern wavetable magic, this demo shows why it could be your next dream synth.

In this video I put it through its paces with a full demo and review, showing how it stacks up against the bigger 3rd Wave keyboard and even the Behringer Wave – a clone of the classic PPG 2.2.

With 24 voices, wavetable creation, sample import, and a deep sequencer, the 8M delivers the lush PPG tones we know and love – but it also goes far beyond, opening up new creative possibilities for sound design and performance.

If you’ve seen my earlier videos on the 3rd Wave , you’ll know how close they get to that classic PPG sound. But the 8M adds serious flexibility: multi-timbrality, modern workflow, and the ability to create wavetables from audio. This isn’t just a clone – it’s a synth that pushes forward while staying true to the heritage.

Whether you’re a fan of vintage digital synths, wavetable synthesis, or just looking for an inspiring new instrument for your studio, the 8M is a fascinating option.

Behringer Murf Box on synth (no talk)

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Behringer's BM-15M Murf Box - now renamed as the BM-15M Resonant Filter - is a clone of the Moog Moogerfooger MF-105 MuRF. I bought this pedal thinking it might be a more interesting replacement for my Boss SL-2 Slicer. Why did I want to replace the Slicer? Because the Slicer has a few things that slightly irritate me. In hindsight, a pitiful motivation since the Murf Box has an equal number of small irritating things.

First, if you bypass the effect you only get sound out of one channel. That's irritating. It's huge, the knobs are hard to read, I don't love the EQ, the way the envelope works is odd, there's no compression on the drive, and you can't adjust the LFO without an expression pedal. Not that I entirely blame Behringer, I also blame Moog since these are all present on the OG Murf. But of course all the actual blame rests with me for not being satisfied with the Boss Slicer.

Not that the Murf sounds bad. It's a rather interesting, gritty, unusual and reasonably versatile machine. I think rather my expectations were pumped up to the same artificial heights as the OG Moogerfooger reputation and prices.

Here the Murf is receiving a MIDI clock and the expression pedal is connected to the LFO rate. The volume varies a lot depending on the EQ, mix and drive settings - and seems to fade away a bit toward the end of the video - but I thought it best to keep these as-is to show real usage.

Originally I was going to do a comparison between the Murf Box and the Boss Slicer with lots of talk. But knowing that hearing me talk too much annoys some people, and that merely showing a Behringer product will guarantee a percentage of automatic dislikes, I thought it wiser to start with a plain audio demo. I'll do a comparison with the Slicer very soon (unless everyone hates this video) since I think there's a lot of overlap and interesting design contrasts between the pedals.
