Oberheim TEO-5: 256 Vintage Patches | Oberheim, Roland & CS-80 Sound Demo

video upload by Eyepatch Entertainment

"Hear all 256 patches in the TEO-5 Vintage Collection: 64 classic Oberheim interpretations, 128 Roland interpretations, and 64 expressive CS-80-inspired sounds, played on the Oberheim TEO-5.

Download the R3 patch collection:
https://eyepatchfilms.com/TEO5_Vintag...

This quick tour moves through the complete bank in user-memory order, from 101 to G16. On-screen labels show the patch name, location, source family and progress through the collection. Short phrases suit the patch type, with longer holds for the slower strings and pads.

WHAT'S IN THE BANK
Banks 1-4: 64 Oberheim / OB-Xa interpretations
Banks 5-6: 32 Roland Juno-60 interpretations
Banks 7-8: 32 Roland Juno-106 interpretations
Banks 9-A: 32 Roland JX-8P interpretations
Bank B: 16 Roland Jupiter-8 interpretations
Bank C: 16 Roland SH-101 interpretations
Banks D-G: 64 Yamaha CS-80-inspired patches

These are sounds voiced for the TEO-5, drawing on vintage patch sheets, program data and classic synthesis ideas. Envelopes, tuning, modulation, Vintage and onboard effects were adapted for this synth. They are interpretations rather than exact emulations of the original instruments.

The demo uses a programmed MIDI performance to change patches and play the TEO-5. The sound comes from the recorded hardware synth. The edit adds titles and visual movement; there is no backing music.

CHAPTERS

03:45 Roland Juno-106
05:02 Roland JX-8P

07:22 CS-80 inspired

LOADING THE PATCHES
The ZIP contains a complete stored-program SysEx file, individual 16-patch banks and a patch guide. Loading overwrites the addressed USER locations, so save any user sounds you want to keep first. Factory memory is unaffected. Set MIDI SysEx On to On and MIDI SysEx Cable to USB, then send the chosen file to the TEO-5 with a SysEx sender. More detail is in the included guide.

Source credits and individual adaptation notes are included in the download. Independent patch collection; not an official Oberheim, Roland or Yamaha release."

via Redit:

"NEW UPDATE: Beta1 is finishing internal testing and will be released soon. You can update with the upload tool. Thanks everybody for their input. I tried to include most of your requests (and some of my own) when it was possible, some of them I did my own take, trying to satisfy similar goals into a single approach. Now we have a couple new effects, you can save synth engine's patches, customize your macro Knobs from the device, pattern link, scene repeat, copy and re-arrange stuff inside or between packs... Check GitHub for a full list. All stock functions remain the same. Message me, submit a request on the GitHub or reply to this thread for fixes, new features or clarifications. A demo will maybe come, after a rest. If anyone wants to share theirs, be my guest."

Perfect Partners: How to hook up your M-Vave FM-1 to Circuit Tracks

video upload by Guinan

You can find part 2 further below.

You can find the M-VAVE FM-1 on Amazon. See dealers on the right for Circuit Tracks.

"I bought an M-VAVE FM-1 to add to my Circuit Tracks.

I love Yamaha DX sounds (checkout my previous MiniDEXED build and songs to see how much) and I think they work well with the Circuit Tracks. Building an equivalent MiniDEXED (like this one) now has ballooned to over $100USD* so at around $60 or so this is a much cheaper and interesting option.

Better screen
Bluetooth MIDI
Rubber keyboard
Easier interface
NO DIY

The numerous daily new firmwares adding new features and the very tempting price on the FM-1 was too much to resist so - here we are.

COLAPSO is an additive synthesizer where you don't choose the partials. You pick one of 22 elements from the periodic table, and its emission spectrum becomes the timbre. Each spectral line becomes a partial with its own level and its own decay, cross-checked against the NIST Atomic Spectra Database. The main control, Observation, trades time against pitch like the uncertainty principle: a broadband click at one end, a pure, stable tone at the other.

Fluyt - Felucca synth engines for Korg drumlogue & microKORG2

And via Regroove | RGRV on reddit:

"This is generated code, but mostly with my own code as reference (such as examples, build infra).

Don't want the FM-1 to have all the fun by themselves. Let's join them ..."

via https://rgrvdotnl.itch.io/fluyt-logue

"Fluyt - Felucca's engines for logue

Felucca is an open firmware for the M-VAVE FM-1, a small synthesizer built around a JieLi pi32v2 DSP. Its sound engines are plain integer C, self-contained, and each one is a different way of 'whistling'. Fluyt takes nine of them and ships each as its own KORG drumlogue or KORG microKORG2 unit.

This is based on Felucca and associated FM-1 firmware which is mostly AI-assisted code. Personal examples, units, and build-infra code were used to create these units.

Why Fluyt?
The name is symbolic, as fluyt is a kind of Dutch vessel, mostly used for trade during the 16th century. Just like in the old days, I hope this 'trading' will happen between the communities. And, the word also means whistle."

Side note: Felucca is by Hügelton Instruments. You can find additional posts mentioning Felucca here.

3rd Party Unofficial Sequential Prophet‑5 / Prophet‑10 Rev4 Firmware Mods

via GitHub

prophet-rev4-mods

version 2.3.0

An arpeggiator and a polyphonic step sequencer for the Sequential Prophet‑5 / Prophet‑10 Rev4, added to Sequential's own Main OS 2.1.0 as a firmware patch. You apply the patch to your copy of the official OS in your browser and install the result over USB like any OS update. Everything is controlled from the front panel.

Built on someone else's idea. The notion of patching the Rev4's firmware, and the proof that it works, belong to another person: an arpeggiator mod that circulated privately showed the way and set the control conventions this project keeps (A440 as the arp button, Bank/Group for modes, Glide Rate for tempo). This project began as additions chained in front of that mod and makes several additions — the polyphonic sequencer with rests and ties, the keyboard octave shift, tap tempo, patch memory, tempo divisions, and more.

New here? The walkthrough takes you through every feature at the instrument, step by step; the manual below is the reference.

Not affiliated with Sequential. This is a hobby project that modifies the instrument's firmware. Installing a modified OS is at your own risk and may void your warranty. Only the project's own code, tooling and notes are published here; Sequential's OS files are not redistributed, which is why you supply your own copy.

Getting Started: Modifying CV with attenuators and offset modules

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Control voltage doesn't always need to be used exactly as it's generated. Sometimes, making small adjustments to a CV signal is the key to getting the sound you're after.

This video is part of our Getting Started blog post:
https://noiseengineering.us/blogs/loq...

One of the most common ways to modify CV is with attenuation.

Here, an LFO is modulating one of the Blendex inputs on Toros. At full strength, the modulation is dramatic. By attenuating the LFO signal using a module like Lapsus Os, we reduce its voltage range, creating a much more subtle effect.

Next, we’ll switch Lapsus Os into bipolar mode with a flip of the channel’s switch.

And then there's offset.

Here, we're using Sinc Pr avus to add an offset to the same LFO. The modulation keeps its shape, but its entire voltage range shifts, changing where it begins and how it interacts.

Whether you're using Lapsus Os to fine-tune modulation or Sinc Pravus to shift it into a different range, modifying your control voltage gives you more expressive and precise control over your patches.

The Filternator from Kanawha Music & Art - vintage-inspired resonator

video upload by CatSynth TV

"We look at the Filternator from Kanawha Music and Art, a Eurorack module designed to recreate the sound and behavior of vintage high-Q filters or resonators, like those found in instruments like the Solovox. It's circuit is based on capacitors and inductors, which can be switched on and off to change the frequency and resonance of the module. It is also passive and doesn't require any power.

We take a close look at its behavior with a controlled oscillator signal from our trusty Arturia MiniBrute 2, including CV-based mix modulation. We then try it out with an electronic organ sound from our Cherry Audio Blue3.

Generate & Evolve New Melodies // SHOOTING STARS from Ethereal Electronics

video upload by DivKid

"Here we have Shooting Stars from Ethereal Electronics which is a stochastic melody generator that seeds patterns then allows for lots of control over them live and on the fly. It's not-so-secret sauce is the ability to save & recall 4 of its main controls and to use transition times to morph between two sets of melodic settings. There's plenty of external control and as I think the patch examples show - there's a lot of impressive things to play around with here!"

https://etherealelectronics.nl

"Shooting Stars is a high-performance 16HP Eurorack stochastic control voltage sequencer designed for modular synthesizers. It combines intuitive hands-on control with more advanced features, allowing musicians, sound designers, and performers to create evolving melodies.

Random melody synthesis from outer space
Shooting Stars is a Eurorack CV sequencer unlike any other in modular synthesis. A musical, performance-oriented sequencer built around tactile controls, visual feedback, and generative creativity.

At the center of the interface are four aluminium encoder knobs, each paired with a LED strip that shows the value of the parameters as well as the notes. Together, these four encoders form the entire control surface: designed for expressive live interaction rather than menu diving.

Instead of programming notes step-by-step, Shooting Stars forces you to sculpt melodies organically. Turn the encoders to transform the sequence musically. Transpose melodies, expand or compress intervals, introduce rests, and create variation, all while remaining perfectly quantized and locked to the selected musical scale.

Hold and turn an encoder to access meta-parameters, allowing fast adjustment of advanced sequencing parameters including:

Transition time (for evolving melodies)
Sequence length
Quantization scale
Slew
Vibrato
Gate length
Accent behaviour
Variation amount
Intelligence (This feature will be enabled in firmware 1.1!)
Every note is represented visually as a falling shooting star across the LED sky. Pitch, gate activity, accents, and modulation states are reflected through colour and intensity, turning the sequencer into both a musical and visual instrument."

Boy Harsher’s Augustus Muller: A feeling on repeat with AstroLab and V Collection

Through familiar Boy Harsher sounds, Safe Mind material and ideas written on the road, he shows how AstroLab and V Collection connect the different settings in which his music takes shape."

Currents & Nostalgia - Using Velocity to Slot position for variation in two patches - Coming synth

video upload by Unusable Engineering

"In this video I am not showing off patches, but showing 2 different ways to utilize the slot system and velocity to generate different degrees of variation to patches. The patches are of course included as presets with the synth when it is available.

By using the velocity to position function - the velocity can move to entirely different oscillator settings or filter settings - or both at once. It can be combined with sweeping slot movement too for evolving patches.

The first patch in the video uses the oscillator slot system to increase detuning and feedback with higher velocity and some random movement from there. The filter is set up in a rather flat way across three slots letting mid velocities add extra drive and distortion to the sound.

The second patch is having 5 independent drum sounds set up by using no interpolation, thus giving 5 discrete velocity zones - one for each slot. The system is set up the same way for both oscillator and filter making it straight-forward to adjust the patch.
