Expressive E

"Enter a world of resonances: A hybrid between physical modeling and subtractive synthesis, Noisy uses the principles of acoustic resonance to bring life to both electronic and acoustic sounds. Noisy was designed to generate highly playable, multidimensional sounds, whose textures and articulations can be easily combined and manipulated."

Click the pic to zoom in.

Update:

Additional info via the press release:

"When the strings of an acoustic instrument are hit, they vibrate and go into resonance, creating timbres that constantly and vividly fluctuate as they dissipate. Noisy recreates this organic response by sending noises into a suite of resonators. The random, continuously changing behavior of the noise enlivens the sounds with unique character.

Each resonator has an acoustic and a subtractive dimension. The “acoustic” side emanates from optimized comb filter technology, while the electronic, subtractive synthesis side applies resonance to traditional waveforms, a new concept called Resonant Oscillators.

Multidimensional - One Preset, Many Sounds

Noisy has been designed to generate highly playable, multidimensional sounds, whose textures and articulations can be easily combined and manipulated. Every preset has four distinct dimensions of sound design, which can be used on their own, or combined seamlessly with each other. In addition, a preset layering system lets you mix the dimensions of two different presets, allowing endless possibilities for sonic creation."

Newest TAL-J-8 great Roland Jupiter 8 emulation with darkest Roland SH2 possible.

PawelBlaszczak_Composer

"Here is next preview of my upcoming album. Since I think hybrid is the best, here is newest Roland Jupiter 8 made by TAL playing together with Roland SH2."

"The TAL-J-8 is a very accurate emulation of the popular 80’s hardware synthesiser and calibrated after our own Jupiter 8 device. All sounds are generated in realtime without the use of any samples with the same endless modulation possibilities like the hardware and useful additional features like the calibration section that can make the filter scream.

Authentic emulation of the 80's hardware synthesizer.
Use the calibration section for extreme resonance and filter overdrive.
VCO based UNISON with stereo spread option and a full stereo signal path.
MPE support.
More than 200 factory presets by solidtrax, emptyvessel and others."

Pipa – Expressive Vocal Synthesizer

Klevgrand

"Pipa is a singing vocal synth with a unique and different sound. It is inspired by the expression and flexibility of the human voice, but does not aim to cover all the aspects of an actual voice. Instead, it focuses on an organic and musical sound where the user has the possibility to control formants and dynamics seamlessly.

The synth engine is a crossover between a wavetable- and a granulating synthesizer, which results in a very expressive and playable instrument. Instead of using ordinary samples or processing oscillators with formant filters, Pipa uses a large database of thousands of wavetables extracted from real vocal samples. The advantage of the technique being used is that it’s possible to seamlessly morph between wavetables with proper phase alignment. This enables Pipa to continuously make transitions between pitch, formants and dynamics, which is very useful in a musical context." Find the free demo at www.klevgrand.se

SoundForce Introduces New SFC-60 V3 TAL-U-NO-LX Juno-60 Hardware Controller

"The SoundForce SFC-60 V3 is a boutique class-compliant USB-MIDI controller dedicated to the fantastic TAL-U-NO-LX Juno-60 emulation. The original SFC-60 was the first SoundForce product to come out. I have come a long way since 2014 and this new version is based on all the lessons learned from several years of designing and manufacturing similar products. With a solid sheet metal case, colorful front panel and new software integration, it's my favourite controller so far. It is usable with any MIDI-mappable software or hardware but has special integrations with the TAL-U-NO-LX.

Features:
In collaboration with Patrick from TAL, special features have been implemented to improve the user experience and the hardware/software integration. Finally, all the LED-based physical switches can update their states when a preset is changed in the plugin. Also when switching instances on different tracks, the plugin can sync the controller and update the switches as well. It works a bit differently in each DAW, more details and videos on that coming soon. For the sliders/faders, the pick-up or scaling modes (similar to the Takeover modes in Ableton Live) can help avoiding "jumping" parameters. Those features require the latest version of the plugin. I would like to thank Patrick for his time and his contribution on this project.

Build quality
The controller is assembled in The Netherlands with parts from Europe and Asia. The enclosure is made of 100% sheet metal and is manufactured by Grawart (http://www.grawart.pl). The case is made of bent steel and powder coated in black. The front panel is aluminum, also powder coated and screen printed with scratch-proof white, blue and red inks. Walnut wood side panels of 8mm thickness are fitted to both sides of the controller. The sides are made in Amsterdam by Rob Gould (http://www.gouldcaseworks.nl/).

Pricing and Availability
The SFC-60 V3 is available on the SoundForce webshop for 349 euros incl VAT in the EU and 288 euros for customers outside the EU. In the US, Perfect Circuit is distributing the full SoundForce product line. US price is still to be announced."

IO-Lights – Light sensitive MIDI controller

instruments of things

"IO-Lights is a MIDI controller that controls MIDI CC or MIDI Note signals via environmental light. A high-resolution light sensor in the center of the product makes it possible. In addition, MIDI notes can also be sent to IO-Lights, which are then represented as light by the 12 LEDs on the device."

via Instruments of Things

"The instrument of lights – IO-Lights is a MIDI controller that controls MIDI CC or MIDI Note signals via environmental light. A high-resolution light sensor in the center of the product makes it possible. In addition, MIDI notes can also be sent to IO-Lights, which are then represented as light by the 12 LEDs on the device.

How to use IO-Lights?

IO-Lights is used as a common MIDI controller. Just connect it via USB to the music software of your choice and start controlling sounds with light. You want to connect IO-Lights to your hardware synthesizer? Then simply use an additional USB MIDI host (e.g. this). The internal MIDI configuration can be changed via MIDI SysEx in a web app, which we will present to you soon!

Light to MIDI:

In the center of IO-Lights is a high-resolution light sensor that measures brightness. Use your surrounding light or a light source of your choice and point it at IO-Lights to control your sound.

MIDI Modes:

MIDI Notes: Use IO-Lights to play notes via light. MIDI Control Change: Use IO-Lights to control parameters via light.

MIDI to Light:

IO-Lights can not only control MIDI signals, but also visualize MIDI notes by the 12 LEDs on the product UI. Therefore simply send MIDI notes to IO-Lights. This is where the magic happens: the resulting light also influences the MIDI signals that IO-Lights emit. This creates a generative sound-light interaction.

Random Light:

Let IO-Lights generate light randomly. This looks nice. And? – And also influences your sound parameters by the resulting change of luminosity."

Sonicsmith ConVertor E1 introduction, Eurorack pitch-tracking synthesizer

Sonicsmith

"The ConVertor E1 is not a marginal improvement. It's actually a total redesign of every aspect from the ground up, supplemented by a slew of new features. Don't let its small size fool you. This 3-PCB sandwiched module was designed to stay narrow so we can stack multiple units side by side for polyphonic sets. Only 100 units are expected to be manufactured for 2021."

via Sonicsmith

"ACO/VCO pitch tracking, expandable oscillator alongside a feature-rich, studio preamp.

The ConVertor E1 merges the pro-studio into the Eurorack modular synth into what can be called the ultimate “synth channel”. "Program 24 brings you the pure sound of '80s Italo Disco inspired by two wild synths nearly lost to time, the Solton Programmer 24 and SM100. The Programmer 24 is an unassuming 3-octave keyboard released in 1985, it contained everything necessary to produce complete arrangements, and real time performance features perfect for backing up the band. It sported a full 8-bit PCM drum section, analog bass and lead arpeggio with analog filters, violin, cello, and 3 flute voices (8', 4', 2'), a featured arranger, chord and pattern sequencers. To top it off, it had individual outputs for 8 drum parts and bass, full MIDI, and a tape interface for storage.

What really caught our attention with this little beast was the sound. Right out of the box it just sounds good, packed with an '80s character we simply adore. The drums are clean and punchy, the bass and arpeggio pack vintage funk, and all the voices work together to create a full and truly classic sound.

The SM100 is another cool analog synth, with DCOs and a phenomenal chorus/ensemble effect. We multisampled every sound allowing you to engage the chorus effect just like you would on the real thing. All-in-all these two fantastic machines deliver tons of flavor and great sounding voices ready to lay down the groove for a new generation.

Program 24 delivers sounds and arrangements from a special period of time, and new and unique ones inspired by these machines. We captured every drum sound (and some extras from mythical machines like the DMX, Linn, 8o8 and more), along with the full range of each analog voice, MIDI drum patterns, classic and chord follower arpeggiators, and discrete preset recall for each sound. Numerous included multi kits, single sound presets, arpeggiators, drums kits and drums MIDI files deliver both pure vintage and all-new sounds and patterns designed by our team, giving you a huge variety of both classic '80s sounds and contemporary patch designs.

For those looking for the complete package the included multi instrument offers a fully-loaded and fully-programmable workstation allowing you to program complete arrangements with your DAW, using all the hardware voices together. For added convenience and sound sculpting potential we've included 2 reverb sends and 2 delay sends that can be fed by any of the drum or instrument voices, along with per-instrument multimode filters, drive, phasor, and EQ. Finally, 2-bus effects including drive, compressor and EQ help you add punch and polish to the mix without leaving the UI.

As well, we've made each of the instrument sections available separately, allowing you to call up only the drums, bass, strings and organs, or accompaniment voices as you need them. Each individual instrument is identical to its multi counterpart, offering the same effect section, sends and presets. A terrific way to focus on sound design, or simply add one or two layers to your production."

Mutable Instruments BLADES // Eurorack dual/stereo multimode filter, folder & saturator

DivKidVideo

"Here we have the new Mutable Instruments Eurorack module ‘Blades’. It’s a dual multimode stereo filter that can be used as a dual mono filter, stereo filter, dual filter in series of parallel blends with CV modulation over EVERYTHING! An exciting addition in the input stage which takes your inputs through a dynamic saturation stage that can also blend (so you can mix both together) across to a wavefolder. You can modulate the input drive so CV modulated saturation or wavefolding is possible before going into the filters."

A DUAL MULTIMODE FILTER…

A CV-controlled overdrive circuit capable of wavefolding.

A clean 12dB/octave multimode filter self-oscillating cleanly across the audio range.

Times two. And this could have stopped here.

FOR ALL THE IN-BETWEENS…

What sets Blades apart is that options commonly presented as multiple choices (low-pass or high-pass? serial or parallel?) are presented here as a continuum, ready to be explored at the twist of a knob or with a CV.

The filter response is continuously variable between low-pass, band-pass and high-pass, and delivers intermediate shelving responses, for more nuanced spectral coloring.

A dual crossfader circuit allows the routing between the two filters to smoothly vary from single to parallel to series.

AND MORE…

Originally thought as a complex filter, Blades turns out to be capable of much more:

A dual distortion with spectral color control?
An oscillator mixer with crossfading, wavefolding, and enough filtering to clean up the mess?
A voice, using one filter as an oscillator, then distorting, folding it and filtering it with the second filter?
A complex oscillator capable of FM, PM and AM?

ADDAC604 - Dual Filter - a little stereo filter that likes a little filth!

Oscillator Sink

"I bought the ADDAC604 Dual Filter module pretty much on a hunch - it fit the form factor and feature set that I was after but I struggled to find a demo so I had to just "trust" that I'd like it based on other filters in the ADDAC range.

So this video is the demo that I would have wanted to find before I made the purchase - hopefully it'll help you out if you're looking to pick up a stereo filter module some time soon!

Timings:
00:00 - Intro
00:38 - Features
03:20 - Mono Filter Sweeps
07:25 - Driving the Filter
10:14 - Mono to Stereo Upmixing with Filter Offsets
11:53 - Generic (albeit stereo) Acid Line
14:05 - Stereo Filtering
20:28 - Can We Track V/Oct?
21:46 - Pinging The Filter
24:11 - Parallel Bandpass Vocal Sounds
26:05 - Spectral Panning with a Single Channel
27:23 - Series Routing for Different Flavours
29:06 - Audio-rate Madness (pseudo-FM and percussion sounds)
32:11 - Final Thoughts"

"While developing our ADDAC105 4 Voice Cluster module we made a new multimode filter to place after the summing mix stage. We were so pleased with it’s sound that decided to release it as a dedicated filter.

To make it more interesting we duplicated its circuitry to be able to use it in a stereo signal path.

To make it more versatile we added a switch to set the working mode from Stereo to Dual Mono where both filters can be used independently.

In Stereo Mode the Left Cutoff is used to control the Right Cutoff.

In this case the Right Cutoff Knob and CV Input are simply bypassed and will have no impact on the Right Channel operation.

This allows immediate sync of both filter frequencies when the Stereo position is engaged.

Optionally there’s a jumper in it’s back that, when placed, connects the Right Controls back to the Right CV control allowing the possibility to control the offset of the Right Channel Cutoff.

Resonance is independent on both Modes and still has to be set manually to match both channels.

Both the Audio and CV inputs are normalled from the Left into the Right channels.
As standard plugging any input to the Right channels removes this connection.

This module will also be available as a full DIY kit.
