BERLIN SCHOOL Schulze Style: Improvise & Overdub - All analogue eurorack modular sounds
video upload by AJH Synth Official
"Inspired by the way Klaus Schulze sometimes constructed his recordings. Those lengthy, iconic performances were often partly improvised, starting with a sequenced 'jam', mostly with his "Big Moog" modular system, then building upon it with overdubs of other sounds and musical parts. He would use many instruments; Arp, Moog and EMS synths among others, but here just a selection of AJH Synth eurorack modules are used, and a shorter, simpler piece of music, with just a couple of overdubbed parts.
INTRO SOUNDS: This patch used the LADDER FILTER and the FIXED FILTER BANK 914 to process pink noise independently, but both pass through the filter bank by way of its CV-controlled mixing functionality. Multiple envelopes cause the sound to evolve as it crossfades between the output of the ladder filter, and then the filter bank's two groups of frequencies (left and right) one after the other. This creates an effect reminiscent of a long, unnatural reverb tail.
SEQUENCER PART: This patch also makes use of the FIXED FILTER BANK 914's two groups of frequencies, both independently and combined, divided between two VCAs in a stereo configuration. This, later combined with the ENTROPIC DOOM, is modulated by synced, random voltages from the TAP TEMPO VC-LFO, and step probability from the CHANCE DELAY, so that the brighter, more percussive steps are random in tone and occurrence.
SOUND EFFECTS: This was inspired by the sound of morse code and old analogue radio communication signals. For that it uses the LUNAR MODULE to add 2 types of noise and some low fidelity to the sound of an incoming VCO responsible for the 'beep' tone. The DUAL RVG and TAP TEMPO VC-LFO create random 'beep' lengths prior to entering the Lunar Module.
VOCAL/CHOIR: This is three VCO's modulated separately and passed through the FIXED FILTER BANK 914. See our guide to using the filter bank for these kinds of sounds here: [posted here]
BASS: This is two VCOs and white noise from the GLIDE + NOISE module going into the RING SM, where a -1 sub octave is generated and added to the mix. It uses the TRANSISTOR LADDER FILTER for that famous Moog/Minimoog warm fatness. Some of the low frequencies had to be scooped off in post as web video compression simply wouldn't cope with it! This floor-shaker of a combo never disappoints. The Ring SM's unique sub-bases (shaped square waves) add almost bottomless depth to an already legendary fat filter and very rich, vintage-voiced oscillators.
LEAD/SOLO: My struggling attempt to mimic just a little of Klaus Schulze's lead style... Sorry Klaus! This uses 3 VCOs and white noise going into the TRIPLE CROSS, where an LFO is modulating the mix of 2 VCOs (pitched differently), and the output sent to the GEMINI 2412 dual SEM-based filter, which is used in a stereo configuration to separate VCAs. An LFO modulates its two VCFs in opposition to each other, creating a stereo panning effect.

X1L3 - AY300 / YM300 - Sanxion demo - Eurorack modules
video upload by X1L3
"A valiant attempt from the humble AY3-8910 and YM2149 at pulling off part of the Sanxion loader music from the Commodore 64. Written in 1984 by Rob Hubbard for the SID chip.
Quick demo of a couple of new modules built around the relics that are the AY and YM. With support from some real SID drums to drive it. It's not a bad attempt.
Two three voice stacks. No vca/vcf support modules.
AY does the bass and additional noise percussion.
YM runs the melody and hops over to the bass line to follow the AY and prevent it from droning when it would be technically idle if i had a vca in line..
The internal modulators can be used to generate a kind of 'SID voice', but in this limited hook up they're not used here.
Will probably revisit it when my rig is free and i can be bothered to figure out all the bendy bits of the lush melodic part about a third of the way into the original 🙂🕹📺🔥"

Module description, Google translated:
Background
The 84th work of my own modular synth.
There are many suspicious circuit modules on sale on Aliexpress whose purpose is unknown.
Depending on your idea, you can easily create original modules at low cost.
This time, I planned to create a Pitch Shifter using such a suspicious and attractive Chinese module.
Pitch shifter
A pitch shifter is a type of effect that raises or lowers the frequency of the input sound. By layering 5th or octave sounds, you can create a thick sound.
There are also several Pitch shifter modules on the market for modular synths.
Specifications of the work
Eurorack standard 3U 8HP size
Power supply: 50mA (+12V), 10mA (-12V)
Pitch shifter module using BP1032 DSP IC manufactured by Mountain View Silicon, a Chinese semiconductor manufacturer.
The amount of pitch shift is fixed. In my case, I use it at a perfect fifth (5th).
DRY POT: Adjusts the DRY volume
WET POT: Adjusts the WET volume
INPUT LEVEL: Adjusts the input signal. Adjusts the input level to accommodate ±5V of modular synth sound and general line level.
OUTPUT LEVEL: Adjusts the output volume
Signal IN: Audio input
L Out: Left output. Not used with Pitch shift, but valid when the Reverb effect is selected.
R Out: Right output. Not used with Pitch shift, but valid when the Reverb effect is selected.
The biggest drawback of this module is that it does not have an interface for the applied effects or effect parameters on the front panel.
You can adjust the effects and parameters by connecting it to a PC via USB C.
In addition to being a pitch shifter, it can also be used as a reverb or delay depending on the settings.
ACPWorkbench
To switch effects, use PC software called ACPWorkbench.
This software is made in China and is of questionable origin, so use at your own risk. My PC's antivirus software did not detect any viruses, but I don't know if it's safe.

Intellijel MIDI 1U: Using Ableton's Tuning System with Eurorack Modular
video upload by Intellijel
"The latest firmware update to MIDI 1U makes it possible to use Ableton's Tuning System with Eurorack Modular. In this video, we show you how to set this up, allowing you to explore different scaling systems from the Tuning Library.
MIDI 1U 1.2.7.0 extends the pitch bend range of the module to 48 semitones. This makes it compatible with MPE, which is how Ableton translates scaling systems outside of 12 tone equal temperament to MIDI note information. Between Ableton & MIDI 1U, you can now keep your whole system in tune for composing and performing in all tuning systems.
Incidentally, this also means you can now control the output of MIDI 1U with MPE controllers set to a single channel, for more expressive control of your system.

An In-Depth Look at the Hi Five CV Controllers
video upload by Biopower Audio
"This is a full overview and video manual for the Hi Five system of remote CV controllers for Eurorack synthesizer.
For more info and purchase: https://www.biopoweraudio.com/hifive.
Chapters
00:00 Intro Jams
01:32 Features of the Hi Five
02:49 Patch breakdown with Dig It! and Manual Override controllers
05:34 Duet Jam with Astrid!
HI FIVE works with DIG IT! or MANUAL OVERRIDE as a remote CV controller system that expands the expressive and social range of your Eurorack modular synthesizer. Turn your solo jam into a playtime with kids, a modular synthesis tutorial, or a drum circle with friends by passing the controller around!
HI FIVE sends +12V and receives five analog CV signals over an ethernet cable from a (potentially) infinite variety of CV controllers.
Each CV channel can be attenuverted +/-10V and offset +/-5V before its output.
RJ45 development PCBs are available, and included in every HI FIVE DIY kit. Design your own dream controller!
DIG IT! controls its five CV channels with a joystick, FSR pressure point, a bright arcade-style LED solo button and a LED button and 45mm fader pair. The buttons have on-momentary off and off-momentary on settings.
In this video, DIG IT! is modulating parameters on a Mutable Instruments Plaits module in 2-op FM mode, as well as a generative analog algorithm passing through a quantizer that is producing its melodic line.
MANUAL OVERRIDE controls CV with 60 mm faders and LED button pairs similar to channel E of DIG IT! on all five channels. It's controlling a Mutable Instruments Grids module and several drum sounds.
Standard color schemes for LEDs, buttons and fader caps are Rainbow (red-orange-yellow-green-blue), and Biopower Green. For an extra charge, we will build custom any combination of these colors (and white with black faders).
HI FIVE is 8 hp and 38mm deep.
Peak current:
35mA with MANUAL OVERRIDE
80mA with DIG IT!"
meloDICER & MEX3 - individual MIDI channels
video upload by vermonagear
"Next month (December 2024), we’re releasing a new firmware update for the *meloDICER*. While it includes some minor improvements, the highlight is the ability to set an individual MIDI channel per voice. Translation? You can now send up to three melodies simultaneously to three different synthesizers using the *MEX3*.
In this demonstration, we’re using two *Mono Lancet ’15*s and a @1010music Fireball:
The synth on the right kicks things off with a deep bass sound, blending sawtooth on oscillator 1 with some noise.
The red nanobox? It’s taking care of a string-like sound.
And the Mono Lancet ’15 on the left is playing a classic sawtooth patch.
All three synths are polished with delay and reverb effects from Logic Pro, just to give things that extra shimmer.
So, what do you think about this new feature? Is it something you see yourself using often, or just another reason to stay up all night making music? Let us know in the comments—we’d love to hear your thoughts!"

THONK SYNTH Introduces t01 VCO
video upload by Thonk Synth DIY
"Our 4hp t01 VCO is a fully analog high quality voltage controlled oscillator. It easily tracks over 8 octaves, and has a triangle core with excellent Linear FM.
PWM, Hard Sync, LFO mode, Octave switch and 4 outputs too and all at very competitive pricing. Available now at Thonk.
Out of sight in this video are some looping envelopes from a Vostok 'Fuji' which is modulating the amount of FM or PWM etc. There is a 4MS Looping Delay module at moments to add some nice echoes, a Vostok 'Ceres VCA is generally present before it hits the camera. A Kassutronics quantizer is used now and then for tuned melodies."
via THONK
This easy to build high quality Thonk VCO is a 4hp DIY eurorack analogue oscillator module. 8 octaves of tracking, Linear FM, PWM, LFO mode, octave switch and hard sync – all at competitive pricing. Designed in-house at Thonk.
The t01 VCO from Thonk Synth is a 4HP Eurorack analogue oscillator with triangle-core. This compact VCO packs in plenty of features including LFO mode, octave switching, hard sync and linear FM.

"Today we dive into the last born of the 200t serie, the Frequency Shifter & Balanced Modulator Model 285t. I've never had a frequency shifter in hardware before (I use the Ableton one quite a bit tho) so it was a bit of challenge to get into it but I found a great article that helped me a bit on Signal / Perfect Circuit, go check it out: https://www.perfectcircuit.com/signal...
Many crazy weird stuff but also some very subbtle and nicce sounding stereo effect.

Spectral Ratcheting With The ReSynthesizer | Make Noise

"Spectraphon Linear Array Modulation!! Get the firmware here: https://www.makenoisemusic.com/firmware/
Last time we created several Arrays from the same sonic matter but with different modulations during their creation, then heard the difference as we modulated the various Arrays with the same modulator. This time let’s flip that around, we’ll create a single Array and hear how it sounds when we alter the modulator. By inscribing a simple rhythm into our Array we can use Slide modulation to evoke something along the lines of classic 'ratcheting.'

Tiptop Audios 285t Eurorack Format Buchla Module Makes Its Official Release
via Tiptop Audio
"Another legend from 1971 is making a comeback today! The Buchla and Tiptop Audio Model 285t Frequency Shifter is now shipping. Priced at $285, the module is available for pre-order through our dealers and will begin shipping shortly.
The theory of shifting frequencies using analog multipliers was first invented in the early 1900s. However, in 1971, Don Buchla took this concept and explored how it could interact with the audio signals of his modular synthesizer. By combining it with a balanced modulator into a single module, he likely created one of the world's first analog audio effect processor modules."
You can find demos of the 285t in previous posts here, including a couple that went up today. As always, check with the dealers on the right for availability.
