Technos Acxel Resynthesizer

Technos Acxel Resynthesizer up on the bay. Title link takes you to the shots and I grabbed the text below, before it goes to *bay limbo. In via reader Rasmus. Thanks Rasmus!
"Only 39 Axcels [sic] were ever made - and those who own an Acxel (ACoustic + X + ELement) hold on to them - proved by the fact that it is very, very rare that an Acxel is for sale. The last, and probably the only, time an Acxel was offered on Ebay were 2003. If I remember correctly, the starting bid was USD10,000 that time.
Imagine drawing waveforms, 128-stage envelopes, base pitches and amplitudes (the user interface allows editing of 32 base pitches/amplitudes at the same time, like an 32 track pitch and audio mixer, with a discreet “page” for each group of 32 oscillators, or ISC’s – Intelligent Synthesis Cells, as they are called in the Technos terminology), and other sound parameters with your finger - and have 256 intelligent, digital oscillators follow your every creative move in real-time. Imagine creating a monophonic sound with 256 oscillators, 8 multitibral voices with 32 oscillators each or any combination in sections of 32 oscillators.

Update: And the press release for the v2.1 update:
"Spectrasonics Releases Omnisphere v2.1 Update
Power Synth adds simplified user sound sharing and Library Publishing for third-party development
Burbank, CA - August 4, 2015 - Spectrasonics has released Omnisphere 2.1 with a streamlined 'Sharing' feature for sharing user sounds and a new Library Publishing capability. Version 2.1 is an update to the company's recent v2 upgrade of its flagship software synth. In May, Omnisphere Version 2.0 was released with vastly expanded new synthesis and creative capabilities for sound design, along with significant user interface innovations, and thousands of new sounds. The new v2.1 update, a free download to Omnisphere version 2 users, includes refined patch and project sharing features for easily exchanging custom sounds between end-users directly or over social media, a Library Publishing feature allowing third-party sound developers to create easily installable sound sets for Omnisphere 2 users, as well as a much improved boot time for the plugin itself. Both the Sound Sharing and Publishing features can contain 'User Audio,' offering new horizons in patch creation and simplified collaboration.
"It's exciting to see the Omnisphere universe expanding with so much great sound development work in so many areas, from EDM to rock, and film and TV scores to games," says Spectrasonics' Founder and Creative Director, Eric Persing. "And now third- party developers of patch sets for Omnisphere 2 have a simple way to create and offer custom libraries that can include their own soundsources, and are easy to install for customers. There's no need for installers or complicated instructions for moving files around directories deep in the system folders. And because it's so easy to share sounds and ideas now, we feel this will be a huge boon for social media user groups discussing tips and patch creation. This is a big opportunity for our users everywhere. We look forward to seeing and hearing what develops!"
Sharing sounds is simplified in Omnisphere 2.1, the end-user can simply shift-click on a few Patches or a few Multi-patches and then save them to be transferred to a friend or musical collaborator who also has Omnisphere 2. Sharing patches automatically includes any user audio, which is especially convenient with custom patches. Sharing multiple types of Patches, Multis and user audio all at once is easier too, with Project sharing; the end-user can just collect a set of sounds in a project, and then share the project.
The new "Publish Library" feature in v2.1 was created for third-party developers of Omnisphere libraries. It allows developers to easily export, or "publish" a library of Multis and Patches, along with any associated user-created Soundsources, as well as graphic images for the custom library in a single .omnisphere file format. End-users can then easily install this package into their systems with a single step.
Beyond the new sharing features in v2.1, the Version 2 upgrade released in May, includes a host of new capabilities including the most requested Omnisphere feature: Audio import for user-created soundsources-along with major new oscillator features including over 400 new DSP Oscillator waveforms, morphing Wavetables, new granular synthesis options, over 4500 unique new sounds created by Spectrasonics' acclaimed sound design team-bringing the total to over 12,000 total sounds and patches, 25 new FX units, an enhanced User Interface, and innovative production/browsing features such as Sound Match(tm) to instantly locate any related sounds in the library, and Sound Lock(tm) to create endless useful patch variations by locking sound aspects while browsing other patches-among many other innovative features.
Omnisphere 2.1 Feature Overview
New Sound Sharing and Publishing capabilities in v2.1:
• Easily share patches and projects between users, which can include User Audio
• Publish a library of patches and Multis including User Audio, graphics and more
• Share Sounds over social media
Faster Boot Time for Omnisphere 2.1:
• Opening the plugin inside any DAW on Macintosh or Windows is much speedier

sonicLAB Introduces PolyNodes Spatial Sonic Sculptor
"sonicLAB introduces PolyNodes, a spatial sonic sculptor. Developed through a collaboration between Sinan Bokesoy and Daito Manabe, PolyNodes sets a new bar for generative sound synthesis."
Playlist
1. introducing PolyNodes
2. a quick tour on PolyNodes.
3. Daito Manabe, PolyNodes presets.
4. Laurent Mialon, PolyNodes presets
5. PolyNodes driven from Live with PolyNodesRemote
"What is PolyNodes ?PolyNodes is our cutting-edge sound synthesis / generative audio platform that is set to transform the way one interacts with sound.
PolyNodes transcends traditional sound design by expanding two-dimensional waveforms into a dynamic 3D spatial navigation experience.
PolyNodes extracts and analyzes the temporal properties of the input sound and maps them in a 3D space to create a visible geometric structure.
This pioneering approach allows to identify key sound moments as geodesic points or nodes, interconnected through a network of triangulations. The result is a multi-scale complex sonic navigation through its input material.
Multi scale Sound Composition :
The platform employs a multi-layered approach to sound composition, handling the macro, meso and micro regions of sound as temporal references.
Architectural Approach to Sound design:
Inspired by the architectural metaphor of crystalline structures, PolyNodes treats sound as a structured entity, arranging its fundamental units akins to spatial architecture, embracing the generative essence of sonic creation.
Innovative 3D Sound Navigation :
– Each sound material generates a unique 3D geometric entity based on the macro, meso and micro level onset time analysis.
– The engine features multiple playheads, known as node agents, equipped with advanced re-synthesis and signal processing techniques to navigate on the 3D entity.
– Multiple navigation strategies to chose from for the macro, meso and micro level agents.
DSP Interactables :
PolyNodes introduces DSP interactables, allawing direct interaction with the PolyNodes 3D geometry. The proximity of agents to these interactable objects determines the extent of their influence, integrating spatial interaction as a core component of sound design."

Four-voice polyphonic analog synthesis. The analog synthesizer circuit of the minilogue, whose genuine analog sound had a huge impact on the synth world, has been further developed for the minilogue xd.
Voice structure of minilogue xd is 2VCO + MULTI ENGINE, 1VCF, 2EG, 1VCA, and 1LFO. In addition to the distinctive circuits found in the series, such as wave shaping to shape the overtones of the oscillator and a sync/ring switch, there's also cross modulation, a sharp two-pole filter, and a drive switch that adds thickness and drives signal into minilogue xd’s filter. Every parameter has been tuned in detail based on what musicians want out of their synth. The sounds range from the warm pads typical of analog to fat basses and crisp lead sounds, covering every situation.
Of course, programs that you create can also be saved in the unit. Out of the box, minilogue xd comes loaded with 200 presets, and a total of 500 programs can be saved.

Ableton Live instrument MegaPack - Guitar Pedal Synths - 36 presets of analog synth guitar pedals
video upload by Expanding Sound
"I wanted to try something different for this Megapack. I love to play guitar, equally as much as piano and synths. I own quite a few guitar pedals that add analog synth flavor, via oscillators and filters. This seemed to be a perfect fit for an Ableton Instrument pack. The Samples don't exactly sound like guitars, they don't exactly sound like synths either. This leads to a pack that has a different flavor than my other releases. The first 24 presets are more straightforward. They showcase the samples with some modulation options. Presets 25-36 are more atmospheric and have effects added, to give them an otherworldly feeling. I had a ton of fun creating these 36 presets, and I'm proud of how this pack came out. I hope you enjoy it!"

Spitfire Audio Announces Availability of New ORBIS Library - One-of-a-Kind Synthesizer
Walkthrough: Orbis Uploaded on Jul 16, 2019 Spitfire Audio
"Paul takes us through the new Orbis library- a one-of-a-kind synthesizer born out of rare recordings from around the globe, presented in Spitfire's sophisticated eDNA Engine."
Official press release follows:
Spitfire Audio announces availability of ORBIS plug-in presented in eDNA engine as a horizon-expanding ‘world synth’
“Great film music often blends sounds from different cultures to create a rich tapestry; ORBIS lets you infuse your music with DNA from around the world — from incredibly useful, original recordings through to beautifully evolving textures.”
- Paul Thompson, composer and Spitfire Audio co-founder
LONDON, UK: Spitfire Audio is proud to announce availability of ORBIS — offered as a horizon-expanding ‘world synthesizer’ standalone plug-in, presented in the sound-specialising British music technology company’s sophisticated eDNA engine, enabling exceedingly creative access to 2,500 extraordinary sounds born out of organic performances treated and transported to new dimensions, designed for progressively-minded composers as a gargantuan creative compendium comprising distorted loops to evolving textures and visceral one-shots, subsonic low-end to ethereal pads, perfect for producing rich-sounding, panoramic scores from nature documentaries to sci-fi movies — as of July 18…
Sometimes a score needs more than an orchestra. ORBIS reimagines the work of David Fanshawe (1942-2010), an English composer, sound explorer, and ethnomusicologist who travelled the globe to gather an archive of approximately 2,000 hours of music, documented for posterity at a time of great change. “The present is almost history; every day is worth recording.” So stated the man himself.
However, ORBIS itself is so much more than a collection of organic field recordings; rather it includes 90% treated content, with over 200 presets, plus loops, textures, one-shots, and pads created by Spitfire Audio’s accomplished team of engineers in its own journey of sonic discovery, distilled — alongside clean recordings, rich in history, character, and emotion — in the sound-specialising British music technology company’s sophisticated eDNA engine to provide users with virtually endless parameters and possibilities for enhancing their own scores with the DNA of countless cultures from across the globe.
Enduring and enthralling, David Fanshawe’s rarefied recordings have already made themselves heard in scores to major movies such as 1997’s Seven Years In Tibet (John Williams) and 2002’s Gangs Of New York (Howard Shore); now they are ready and able to empower anyone’s scoring sensibilities as an essential resource for producers, composers, or sound designers intent on seeking out new sounds — or even civilisations! After all, sounds are the fabric from which music is weaved.
With that thought in mind, maybe it was inevitable that Spitfire Audio would creatively cross paths with the David Fanshawe World Music Archive. As such, ORBIS was effectively conceived back in January 2015, when widow Jane Fanshawe introduced Spitfire Audio co-founder and composer Paul Thomson to the global sonic explorer’s namesake legacy. “Listening to these extraordinarily vivid recordings is like looking through a window into a different time and place,” pronounces the clearly captivated listener.
Literally placing them into a different time and space, Spitfire Audio subsequently handpicked thousands of extraordinary sounds from those extraordinarily vivid recordings, really resulting in a so-called ‘world synthesizer’ since ORBIS users are able to delve deeper into some of the most rare and distinctive sounds and loops on the planet, rich in history, character, and emotion encompassing a range of cultures and communities, many of which no longer exist; enhancing every sound still further with ORBIS’ own exploratory eDNA is inevitable.
Imagine the eDNA engine as a set of two turntables alongside a highly-sophisticated DJ mixer. It includes two sound bays — A and B, each designed to create differing sonic treatments, with individual and independent modulators and control of TRIM, BEND, GLIDE, CLONE, TUNE, ADSR (envelope), HI-PASS (filter), LO- PASS (filter), and WOBBLE (modulating VOLUME, PITCH, and FILTER). Furthermore, the GATE SEQUENCER allows for independent gating of those two bays and unified control of amount, speed, and LENGTH of sequence. These two signals are then unified with an x-fader; move between the sounds with the mouse or the factory default-assigned modulation wheel. Elsewhere, eDNA’s five-stage FX (effects) path contains 41 custom plug-ins, including preloaded bespoke IRs (Impulse Responses). The BAY A FX and BAY B FX stages affect sound bay A or B, while an AUX FX stage can be sent via the layers or MASTER FX stage.
Obviously ORBIS easily enables sonic journeying of its own doing. Discover hundreds of presets treated in various ways, with Spitfire Audio’s acclaimed sampling expertise and technology twisting and turning every sound through 3,000 lines of code! Some sound subtly manipulated while others are heavily processed, unrecognisable from their original source material.
Musically-speaking, ORBIS travels far — from playable one-shots and short phrases to tuned and untuned rhythmic loops and recordings up to a minute long. Ultimately, unearthing sounds with subtle movement, complexity, and evolution is an ear-opening experience. Throbbing basses and pulsing loops, ideal for dance music; thunderous drones, subsonic low-end and visceral, tortured drum hits, for adding movement and depth; Blade Runner-style synths, made from antelope horns; and ethereal pads and breathtakingly beautiful evolving textures, for three-dimensional cinematic soundscapes... the very nature of ORBIS’ design takes its users to new levels of sonic exploration and adventure. A lifetime of inspiration as an essential resource awaits anyone creatively climbing aboard.
As to the finished product’s potency, Paul Thomson is clearly qualified to comment, enthusiastically ending on a high note: “This is a really rich tapestry of sounds; it’s almost like a new kind of ‘world synth’ which goes from the raw sounds that are incredibly useful all the way through to beautiful, undulating, evolving textures made from these incredible organic recordings.”

New Waldorf Iridium Trailer, Sound Demo, Official Announcement Press Release & New Pics
Follow-up to this post.
"Waldorf Music makes more waves by bringing flagship’s futuristic functionality and advanced tonality to desktop with Iridium Synthesizer
REMAGEN, GERMANY: having opened eyes and ears when introducing its forward-looking flagship Quantum Synthesizer keyboard to widespread critical acclaim in 2018, Waldorf Music is proud to introduce its Iridium Synthesizer ‘sibling’ — sharing futuristic functionality and advanced tonality and applying those traits with welcomed added extras to a compact desktop form factor living up to the high-quality synthesizer developer’s demanding design standards — as of June 12…Following in the Quantum Synthesizer’s trailblazing footsteps, the Iridium Synthesizer features a generous high-resolution multitouch display working — with haptic help — in perfect harmony with an adroitly arranged control panel positioning all functions for speedy operation. Noticeably new to the demonstrably different Iridium Synthesizer is its integrated 4 x 4 pad matrix, used to call up sequences, chords, scales, and arpeggios. A quick glance under the hood, however, reveals that the Iridium Synthesizer still shares the same selectable sound generation processes per oscillator (OSC 1, OSC 2, and OSC 3). As such, it can convincingly and comprehensively reproduce the sound spectra of the following five synthesis types: Wavetable, Waveform, Particle, Resonator, and Kernels.

Acxel II
Remember the Technos Acxel Resynthesizer (pictured)? I just read this post on Music Thing. Apparently the creator of the Acxel, Pierre Guilmette, is working on a new version. Check out Music Thing for a letter from Pierre. You can find his website, iDarca Audio here. You'll find a bit of info on resynthesis and some audio samples.
Update some more info on the Acxel:
"Don Garbutt writes: Freaky, obsure, expensive, unique, weighs a lot, robust construction (lots of VLSI chips inside). This machine is impossible to find, although I have one. Lucky me!!! Graphical interface is totally intuitive, and tell me if you know of any other machines that are resynthesis- based, as this is , if you care to use it in this fashion. Digital filter emulation (oscillator # filter) is unequaled.

Void & Vista: FRAMES
video upload by VOID & VISTA
Press release follows:
LONDON, UK: VOID & VISTA is proud to announce availability of FRAMES as its latest bold virtual instrument for contemporary music creation — crafted for Native Instruments’ KONTAKT platform, pairing characterful, expressive, and unique sampling with powerful sound design features and an inspiring interface rendering it ideal for media composers, production music writers, and (obviously) sound designers, as well as also expanding the toolbox of artists and producers across multiple genres thanks to its variety of emotive sounds and textures — as of April 23…
Being built around 40 sound sources made from capturing unique, unrepeatable sonic moments, FRAMES readily represents a bespoke collection of specially curated samples created using prepared instruments, resonated sound objects, and aleatoric performances using experimental techniques. These are all recorded at 96kHz using specialist microphones to capture sound beyond the range of human hearing, ready to pitch down and explore.
Such sound sources are split into five categories: INSTRUMENTS — traditional instruments captured using extended techniques and aleatoric performances; OBJECTS — uniquely prepared objects and instruments played in experimental ways; EFFECTED — heavily effected, processed sounds, and resonated objects; TEXTURES — tonal, textural, and found sounds that are perfect for blending; and WAVES — sampled synth waveforms taken from an analogue hardware collection.
Above and beyond that, the new ZONE SHIFT feature vastly expands the timbres of each sound source, enabling immediate dynamic exploration of the movement and detail found within them. Thanks to shifting samples from different registers, sounds can shift from slow and muted to frantic and urgent with each key press.
But better still, those 40 sound sources can be layered, sculpted, and effected using the deep two-layer sound design engine, featuring multimode FILTERS; two MOTION LFOs (Low Frequency Oscillators) — LFO 1 and LFO 2; six envelopes; LOFI effects; an ENSEMBLE page for blending additional voices; parallel CHARACTER insert effects; and dedicated SPACE send effects. And all of this sound design power is available from an inspiring and intuitive interface, designed to keep users focused on making music.
Music-making or otherwise, users ultimately benefit from FRAMES coming complete with a colossal collection of preset snapshots organised logically for ease of use, with pre-assigned mod wheel modulation mappings for jaw-dropping sound manipulation.
FRAMES is initially available to purchase at a 20%-discounted price until June 4, 2025 — rising thereafter to its regular price of £129.00 GBP — as a KONTAKT PLAYER-compatible/NKS (NATIVE KONTROL STANDARD®)-ready AAX-, AU-, and VST-formatted virtual instrument plug-in featuring 16 GB of samples that works with all major DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) running on macOS 12 or above — natively compatible with Apple Silicon — and Windows 10/11 directly from the dedicated product webpage here: https://www.voidandvista.com/products/frames
To function, FRAMES needs Native Instruments KONTAKT 7.10 or higher via the Native Access 2 administration tool for music creation software available from here: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/native-access-2/

Korg Volca Drum Mega Tutorial
Published on Jan 14, 2019 cuckoomusic
"Korg Volca Drum is a percussive synthesiser from Korg, in the Volca range. I find it quirky and fun, when departing from the drum territory.
Here's a long tutorial, with a lot of flavours of what it sounds like, and how you can work with it."
"Welcome to an infinitely expanding world of sound-design.
Joining volca kick and beats as the third, and most unique, drum synth in the volca lineup.
The volca series is all about unique sound. Whether it's analog, PCM, or FM, the volca series puts unique sounds into an accessible platform. And now, the series is joined by a new rhythm machine that brings yet another sonic character. It's the volca drum digital percussion synthesizer.
Based on a simple trigger waveform, wave folder and overdrive are used to add overtones and distortion, and then a waveguide resonator effect brings the sound to life. The six-part DSP synth engine was designed with a completely different philosophy than conventional drum machines, and generates a wide range of unexpectedly different sounds. And of course, you can play those sounds from the volca-style sequencer.
Adding these distinctive sounds to your rhythms will revolutionarily transform your performances and productions.

Using the new Korg IOS synth app ODDYSSEi with Korg Gadget, on an iPad Mini 3, how does it hold up?
Published on Nov 2, 2016 Expanding Sound

ARP ODYSSEi - KORG INC.
KORG Gadget - KORG INC.
"We own a hardware Korg Odyssey, and were very interested to hear what the new iOS app, ODYSSEi sounded like. The hardware has an iconic, unique sound that rivals many of the best synths, but when we heard this new iOS app worked with Korg's Midi iOS DAW Gadget, it became a must buy. Gadget quickly became a favorite mobile music making app for us here at Expanding Sound, with it's easy interface and great tones. The exporting of your performance to Ableton Live sets is a pretty key feature for making high quality jams on the go. We assumed that with this new apps capabilities and great tone, it would be fairly draining on your iPads processing power. So how did it hold up on an iPad mini 3? Check out our video and see! I whipped up a quick little sequence, for the purposes of testing the sounds and limitations that went along with the app.

PolyMono Ableton Instrument Pack Jam 2, Live instruments using the MonoPoly analog synthesizer
video upload by Expanding Sound
"Get the pack here

http://www.expandingsound.com
(This pack is compatible with Ableton 10 standard and above.)
This is my second Jam using the PolyMono Ableton instrument pack. I was having a lot of fun making songs with it
So i figured why not? This one is more Pad oriented. I hope you enjoy it!
More info on the PolyMono Mega Pack-
The Expanding Sound PolyMono pack is built using the MonoPoly synthesizer.... clever name, right? Something that was instantly noticeable to me was the larger than life quality some patches achieve here in Ableton. Since you are using four oscillators in unison mode, sampled instruments can use more voices, and have the ability to sound huge. Each instrument is a polysynth, so you're hearing up to 40 Oscillators at once! Giant atmosphere pads and strong present leads are available, as well as bass presets that really cut into a mix. This pack contains 22 multi sampled presets using over 100 samples. I hope you enjoy! I feel like some of these sounds are going to find their way into my compositions very soon."

Minilogue XD Analog Hybrid synth Ableton Megapack
Published on May 18, 2019 Expanding Sound
"Thanks for checking out our Minilogue XD Megapack! The original Minilogue was a jumping off point of sorts for Expanding Sound. I got it before its official release and shared a video of some sounds. From there we just kept going, making Ableton Packs and videos of jams and gear. When I heard about an upgraded model, I had to pick it up. The new effect section is really nice. The addition of digital synthesis into the analog unit really makes this synth have such character of its own. I wanted to make the pack sound different than my other releases to accentuate its character. In this Megapack you'll find huge soundscapes, present bass, snappy envelopes and bright keys. I recommend picking an XD up for sure. My only complaint with it is often while creating huge pads I kept finding myself wishing for more voices. This pack takes care of that issue, adding ten voices to each patch. I hope you enjoy it!
this pack gets you
24 Ableton Instrument racks, created from multisampled user patches. No presets, I like to design my own sounds!"

Expanding Sound Organ/Strings Analog Synthesizer Ableton Instruments, built using the Roland RS09
video upload by Expanding Sound
"get the pack here https://expandingsound.gumroad.com/l/...
This pack was built using the last updated version of Ableton Live 10, and will work with any standard version of the latest Ableton Live 10 and above.
The Roland RS09 is a beautiful organ/string analog synthesizer from days past. If you love the sound of big pads on old recordings, then you're going to love this pack. Although there aren't too many tone shaping variations on this synth, I believe you're going to love the sounds I was able to create here. 12 presets that have a similar vibe, yet all different enough to stand out on a track, as well as sit back in that warm blanket of vintage character in the background. I hope you enjoy!
This song was built using the RS09 Ableton Instruments created for this megapack. I think it works well for big sounds, plucky lead melodies and bass tones. Give it a headphone listen as I panned some sounds. Let me know what you think and thanks for listening!"
