Sequential In The Spotlight Interview with PROTOVOLT
You can find the interview on Sequential's website here.
"Lord of synths, shredder of guitars, and ace of percussion (except the bells), Protovolt mixes modern vision with 80s nostalgia into a style that’s equal parts John Carpenter and John Hughes. With influences ranging from the arcade to the silver screen to retro technology, he lends his style to film scores, artist collaborations, and cross-genre production.
We chatted with Protovolt on how he’s using the Prophet X in his music"

Sequential In The Spotlight Interview with LEVINSKY
You can find the interview on Sequential's website here.
"Levinsky is the Finnish harbinger of distinctly cinematic and dark synthwave. His style is regarded as unique in the Finnish scene, gaining a steady and organic base around the world. His fans know that he always has something to say with his music and that his themes are always close to his heart. He also interacts closely with his fans and truly values their support.
He is inspired by classic horror, thriller, and sci-fi movies as well as literature and is an ardent fan of classic Italian “giallo” movies such as Dario Argento’s Tenebre and Suspiria. Musically, he draws a lot of inspiration from great classic artists such as Kate Bush (whom he reportedly worships), Jean Michel Jarre, John Carpenter, Goblin, and Vangelis, while holding dear a handpicked selection of modern day acts such as Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, Zombi, and Daft Punk. He doesn’t shun drawing influences and musical growth from outside the genre and experiments with his sound accordingly.
He’s just finished his first full-length album Electra Complex, a follow-up to 2018’s EP Method to the Madness (available at Levinsky’s Bandcamp page and all global streaming services) which has gained an underground cult status in addition to critical acclaim by a number of synthwave blogs and sites globally.
We chatted with Levinsky about how he’s using the Prophet-6 in his music."

Luftrum 24 - Soundbank for TAL J-8
video by Luftrum1
"Luftrum 24 is a soundbank for TAL J-8 covering a wide range of genres from synthwave to 90s French house to ambient, electro funk and synthpop. All presets you hear in the demo vid above, is straight out of the box with no external processing of any kind.
The presets range from soaring mono leads to dreamy pads over funky dark basses and delicate synth keys and are inspired by a broad range of synth-driven artists and duos such as Daft Punk, John Carpenter, Vangelis, Perturbator, Steve Roach and The Midnight.
The set also features 40 presets designed by Code Elektro, a critically acclaimed synthwave sci-fi artist from Denmark, whose music best can be described as a hard mix between Carpenter Brut, SURVIVE and Tangerine Dream.

Sound of Science - Hydrodome EP Featuring Tom Carpenter of Analogue Solutions & Medic
"Sound of Science is a transatlantic duo comprising Tom Carpenter and Jason Huffman.
Tom is the man behind Analogue Solutions and has been building synthesisers for over 15 years. He has supplied synths to people such as Trent Reznor, Martin Gore, Vince Clarke, Phil Oakey, Daniel Miller, and many more. The designs are directly influenced by his love of electronic music. Jason is an analogue synth wizard, composer and a lover of all things that make noise. He also produces the legendary Rezfilter videos (see YouTube) that highlight these excellent synthesisers. Together they have pooled their years of combined experience of songwriting and sound design to produce real songs using real synthesisers.
They are currently working together on several exciting new songs and projects that will appear in the not-too-distant future.

Quick note: as you know, I normally do not post music on MATRIXSYNTH for the sake of music. All posts are ultimately about synth spotting and synth demos. I do make the exception for manufacturers as they give you some insight into the music they make. Tom Carpenter is the man behind Analogue Solutions and Medic. He along with Jason aka Rezfilter who brought us some great demo videos for Analogue Solutions is working on a new release under their moniker Sound of Science.

Modular Synth - Patch in Progress 34
Published on Jul 11, 2016 isvisible / isinvisible
"My Ian Fritz panels (Serge) playing very nicely with my Eurorack set-up.
The AFG is clocking the Pithoprakta, which in turn is triggering everything else.
Elements - Bass
Rings - Processing audio from the Radio Music
AFG - low clicky audio processed by the ADDAC Fixed Filter Bank, which has each frequency being modulated by various Ian Fritz designed modules (Chaotica, ChaQuo and Jerkster)
Serge Modular (Ian Fritz - Chaos Theory and Timbre Tantrum panels) - Plinky plonky piano sounds, warbles and atmosphere.
Cheers"
This one make me think of what John Carpenter might sound like exploring modular. Very Carpenter-esque. Love it.

Sequential Circuits Model 800 Sequencer
Click here for shots via this auction.
Details: "SEQUENTIAL CIRCUITS MODEL 800 ANALOG SEQUENCER . Compatable with all analog CV and Gate synthesizers. I've discovered Dave Smith (founder of S/C) started making these units in his garage before eventually mass producing the incredible Sequential Circuits synths, drum machines (ect.) as we know them today. This is without a doubt VERY RARE ! Only 500 were made and maybe. It is in Good condition with few minor scuffs / scratches on the top and side. It has a sticker on one side from the place where it was originally sold - Rogue Music Store NY.NY. It has one broken push button (the start / record switch as shown in pic below) which can easily be replaced. The part here cost just over a dollar. You can still push it with the tip of your finger though. It Powers up and the lights come on. It counts through all 16 steps on the LED as it should. You can also walk the steps from 1 to 16. All this is done without it being hooked up to anything."

Update via Micke in the comments:
"A little bit of trivia: the original version of this sequencer:
http://www.synthmuseum.com/sequ/seqseq800ad01.jpg
was used on Earth, Wind & Fire's hit "Getaway" which was recorded back in the summer of 1976.
I was told this by LA synthesist/programmer Dan Wyman.
Mr. Wyman is perhaps best known for his synth work on multiple Giorgio Moroder productions. He´s also responsible for the Moog modular programming on John Carpenter's classic synth-scores "Assault On Precinct 13" (1976), "Halloween" (1978) and "The Fog" (1979).

Tonal Paintings by Parallel Worlds Released
Parallel Worlds' new release Tonal Paintings is now available here. The above is the 2nd track off of the release. Be sure to check out the rest. It's a great instrumental album, and a bit diverse. If you enjoyed Parallel Worlds recent Dystopia, you will enjoy this release. It is a bit more minimal, but delivers just as well. The album is reminiscent of a film score at times. You'll hear hints of John Carpenter and soundscapes that would be home in an X-Files soundtrack, however, everything is uniquely Parallel Worlds.
https://electroniqueitrecords.bandcamp.com/album/tonal-paintings
"Delving deep into a ghostly landscape, Parallel Worlds make his personal journey through ambient-soundtracks music created by a selected range of synths. This personal and introspective album is composed by eight tracks which come from far away and unraveling between horror atmospheres, dark desolate landscapes and sci-fi visions. After a series of incredible albums for labels such as Shima Records and DiN, Parallel Worlds lands on Lost In It Records with an intense and visceral work ready to leave its mark in your soul.
