Much better quality smooth potentiometer New graphics Soft touch knobs High efficiency 5mm leds 2.2mm travel push switches for optimal optical feedback Keyfollow switch has been added Freerun switch to have Osz3 free of the keyboard as the ProTone had Better Noise generator which is still a true noise generator with a spectrum now up to 100kHz Volume potentiometer has been added Power on Switch Several possibilities for additional manual changes
Also original Neptune already had: Pure DC Design means no capacitors in the signal flow Pure analog technique Low noise design High quality cascade filter True noise generator (NOT digital noise) MIDI Signal regeneration means the incoming MIDI signal is internal completely new generated to MIDI Thru, not only amplified The Neptune Mk2 still carry these advantages/features.

Additional manual change possibilities (described in the Service manual) : Having PW(M) on Square Wave on Osc1,2 or 3 Osc3 Sync with Osc1 or Osc2 Even faster Envelopes (yes some people wants that) Increase tune range for Osc1..Osc3 Additional signal inputs and outputs (i.e. to work with your modular system or to have a very good Distorter and Fuzzer for guitar i.e.) General in/outputs of Oscillators, Envelopes, Filter, power supply, ...
Comments About the Sounds:
its pre analog with a VERY strong filter, 3 oscilators, fuzz and distortion effects. there is no stepping heard in any knob movements either. its sounds like maybe an sh-101/ mc-202 with a little tb-303 mixed in.. its very early 80's monosynth sounding.. not weak like mid-80's polys were. very heavy sounding, with good quality. it's exelent for analog leads and bass's, but dont expect any real pianos or organs or whatever."

"We are a group of DIY'ers interested in Synth building, Circuit bending and making all kinds of glorious noise. Texas Instruments was founded HERE...so was Laptop Deathmatch and Treewave!. Lets build on that. We like blinky lights and big buttons.
On Saturday August 9th at the Bar of Soap, we are planning to have our first Meet Up. 2 to 5pm."

Our friend Jexus, aka WC Olo Garb wrote in to let us know that YouTube has changed their encoding resulting in much lower quality audio. You can read about it on the Wired blog as well as this thread. Alternatives? Vimeo and Sonicstate TV, although the one thing YouTube does have is the community and exposure. You can see how many plays your videos get and you can see where they are coming from. I find it interesting to see how many hits a post here has generated for the video. I've had a number of people recognize the site because of this. Hopefully YouTube will correct the problem and others will build in the public tracking functionality of YouTube. What can you do? Not sure. Just be aware of it and chose your hosting accordingly. You can also chime in on the YouTube thread. If enough people speak out maybe they'll fix the problem. If you run a blog let your readers know.
The problem via Wired in a nutshell:
"Some YouTube users are mounting a growing revolt against the site's new audio scheme, which has degraded the sound quality of clips on the site by running them through an audio processor that wreaks havoc with songs' dynamic range (the variation between loud and soft), diminishing their sound quality.
This is not "compression" as in bit rate or file format, but in the audio engineer sense of the word: the smushing together of various volumes into a smaller dynamic range. This sort of compression doesn't affect slickly-produced, radio-ready music quite as much, since it's already so compressed, but it hurts any music that has been properly produced, and does more damage to nuanced recordings with lots of dynamic range."
Battling Seizure Robots from Richard Lainhart on Vimeo. "A jam with Moldover at Tranzducer .011 in Brooklyn, NY, on November 30, 2007. I play my Buchla 200e/Haken Continuum system, while Moldover works out on his controllerism rig. This is a completely spontaneous, unrehearsed, undiscussed improvisation, and the first time we've ever played together; while it's camera-audio only and so not the best quality, I think it's worth checking out. The complementary video improvisation was provided by Bert Baldwin.
("Battling Seizure Robots" is the name of one of the video animations I created for this performance, which, perhaps fortunately, you don't see in this clip.)" http://www.otownmedia.com
images via this auction "Duophonic analog synthesizer, with a 49-note (F-E) keyboard. It features two VCOs, a noise generator, one LFO, a filter (low-pass and bandpass), and two ADSR envelope generators. VCO1 can be cross-modulated by VCO2. Each ADSR can be switched to auto-trigger, each with independent rates. The sound is quite rich and somewhat harsh and aggressive. This is more of a space-synth. You can be sure that you will have never heard the sounds this one can produce. It sounds like these old Yamaha CS-30's, but then fat filters like in Moogs. Produced in 1980x. The supply voltage - 220-230V/50Hz. For use with 110/127V, a voltage converter is necessary. POLIVOKS has 5-DIN output connections (adapter to 1/4 jack included). No midi, no CV/Gate are installed. Dimensions - 780x490x195mm Weight of synth only - 16.00 kg"

The Model 15s sync and FM and gave control signals from the ramp output of the Model 10. Model 11 Evil Twin filter on the left, Model 12 State Variable Vactrol Filter on the right. Halfway through, the Model 24 takes over the timing and makes it sound a little more interesting than the LFO mode in the Model 10."
"The NOVA-X ORGONICS analog synth add-on modification for Hammond B-3 Organ.
What is it? An aftermarket mod which adds ANALOG SYNTH sounds and functions to a Hammond Organ. Use is not limited to the B-3, any of the vintage Hammonds would work, such as A series, B series (BC, BV, B-2...), C series, A-100 series, H-100, RT series, etc. Requires installation by qualified personnel.
* There is a WIRING HARNESS that you (the tech) would solder to one set of the keyboard contacts, typically in the upper manual.
* The other end of the wiring harness connects to the blue DIVIDER MODULE which has a set of removable circuit boards that provide the synth tones.
* The Divider Module connects to the CONTROL HEAD and the three gold boxes: the POWER SUPPLY, the CONNECTOR BOX and the VOLUME PEDAL.
* The CONTROL HEAD mounts in place of the left hand cheek-block.
* The CONNECTOR BOX connects to the Divider Module, Power Supply, and MAIN SYNTH UNIT. It has a 1/4" output jack also.
* The MAIN SYNTH UNIT is the large tolex-covered box that has most of the knobs, switches, etc. It would sit on top of the organ. The other components would probably be installed in the organ somewhere (like the inside of the back panel). The Main Synth Unit has all the typical ANALOG SYNTH functions: Oscillators (VCO), Envelope (VCA), Filter (VCF), Modulation (LFO), White Noise, Glide/Portamento/Glissando, etc, etc.
* The VOLUME PEDAL box connects by lever to the existing SWELL PEDAL.
This project is for the serious HamTech type of person. It's complicated. Should be tons of fun for someone that likes to tinker with Hammonds and Synths."
Automaton alpha preview from Chris Randall on Vimeo. "This is a quick demonstration of the sequencer engine and the effects in Automaton. The software is still in alpha, and some of the user interface elements are missing, but you can get the general idea of what is going on with this, I think.
I will put up individual in-depth overviews of each section of the plugin once it enters beta. The purpose of this video was mainly to test the screencasting software." More info on Analog Industries
