Roland TB-303 Green T-Shirt by The Dole Shirt

A few shots of a green Roland TB-303 T-Shirt sent my way via The Dole Shirt. You might remember Dole from this TR-808 T. Be sure to check out their site for more. The quality of these Ts are top notch. I like the Dole T-Shirt badge on back. Apologies for the quality of these pics. I need to get better lighting. They don't really do justice to the T.

Solina String Synthesizers

via Woody

"Just saw 3 x Solina String Synthesizer on the dutch market page http://www.marktplaats.nl/ search for Solina String."

Only two of the listings had a pic. The following is one of the descriptions in Googlish: "The Solina String Synthesizer. One of the rarest synthesizers ever.
Built in 1975 in Bodegraven our own Eminent. On board were a complete Solina String Ensemble and the famous super awesome chorus, nice and thick ... and Arp Explorer 1, a monophonic synth.

This is because
- The String Ensemble separately to use ...
- And monophonic synth too (which has a VCO, LFO, ADSR filter, nice glide, four waveforms (sine, square, sawtooth and random) noise, and four pitch registers you separately, but together can make it sound (" bass / tenor / alto / soprano ")...
- And you can string ensemble and synth combine (if you accept an unpacked your highest note both the synth strings note as well) ...
- But the best thing is that the string ensemble through the filters of the synth can draw! So that you basically a very unique and expressive synth have full scale, because you can basically show all of DFE strings while playing!"

Making of Gary Numan DieHard commercial

YouTube via makemagazine | August 09, 2010

"Syyn Labs, the folks who created the Rube Goldberg machine for OK Go's "This Too Shall Pass" video, recently did a commercial for DieHard featuring Gary Numan performing his classic song "Cars" on actual cars (their tuned horns), playing them like a piano, all powered by a single DieHard battery. We were intrigued and asked them to tell us how they did it. They sent us this behind the scenes video. The commercial is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4YsMV... [previously posted] You can read an article about the making of the commercial and the tech they used here:

DSI Tetra + Moog RingMod + EHX MicroSynth

YouTube via GruithuisenCityMan | August 09, 2010

"Hello ! My name is Frederic Gerchambeau. I have made this movie. To be fair, this is hardly a demo. I am just trying some possible sounds made by a Dave Smith Instruments Tetra passing through a Moog Ring Modulator and an Electro-Harmonix Microsynth. The DSI Tetra is playing always the same simple monophonic sound. As it is my very first attempt to do so, the results are certainly not to be taken too seriously. Enjoy !

1965 R.A. Moog Co. Electronic Music Workshop

via the Bob Moog Foundation:

"Today, August 9th, 2010 marks the 45th Anniversary of an interesting event in Moog history: On August 9, 1965, a small summer conference was held to teach electronic music and expose the new Moog synthesizer to the world of composers. We thought it would be ideal to use the Bob Moog Foundation Archive to shed some light on this relatively unknown event, and to bring a little clearer understanding of the way things were in these very early days of the Moog synthesizer. Using documents, photos and tapes from the Archive – plus a few recollections from a few who were there – we present a look at the “Electronic Music Workshop” of August 1965…" Click here for the full article. SNAZZYTINY SYNTH 1.mov

snazelle | August 09, 2010

"An old 80's Casio synth with the TRACER CITY, and the WOW and Flutter.
Sound was taken from the the casio's headphone out, which though less than ideal, is one way of getting the sound out of the synth and into the pedals.

This video demonstrates some of the fun you can have just picking ANY random sound source, drums being a particularly good source of fun. The envelope follower section of the Tracer City is in use, as are some of the pitch warbling properties of the Wow and Flutter. This is going through a guitar amp, which adds a lot of grit."
