Two pads then shown. 2nd one is a stock pad called "Pulse Pad" with the phaser on it followed by JD's cutoff and res effects. Solo patches for synth horn, pipe, hammond, Wet Bass preset, High-Pass filter pad w/ aftertouch demonstration, "Hydra Poly" patch, Wailing Guitar preset, "Synth Horns '68" patch.

"Running through some favorite beats I made on my Drumtraks, an 8-bit sample based drum machine from 1984 with real-time volume & tuning controls. It has the same 24db Curtis chip used in the DMX. It was one of the first MIDI devices, so with a keyboard, you can input beats with velocity sensitivity. I believe tuning tweaks can also be recorded live per beat. One thing that sucks for Roland fans, is that Drumtraks has no step-time mode.

Since the "holy grail" Linn LM1 costs as much as a mortgage down payment these days, and LinnDrum and DMX prices are only going to go up, I would consider the Drumtraks a great alternative if you like the sound of 80s digital drum machines. Although not very popular, this is clearly an 80s drum machine to the bone!

NOTES: I am using the mono-out into a Behringer Xenyx 1202FX wth a tad of reverb and effects stuff here and there. No snares are used in this video. I am using a Roland footswitch to change the beat sometimes due to issues with the keypad. Left LCD = tuning of the instrument and volume depending on which knob you use, right LCD = the beat you are on."

Synth-Project Poly-Ana Controller for Admiral Quality VST

"With 4 Doepfer Midi Interfaces to control over 220 Parameters, is this the Contrtoller Flagship

I think, the Poly-Ana Controller for Admiral Quality VST Instruments will be the last Contoller this year. And it will be the „Flagship“ of my Controllers.

The Controller has two Front Panels to control all the parameters of the VST Instrument. The upper and the lower Front Panel. The upper Front Panel contains the 3 Oscillators Section, the 2 Filter Section, the 2 LFO and 2 AMP Section.

The lower Front Panel contains on the left side, the 3 Envelopes, in the middle a 8“ Touchscreen and on the right side the 2 Modulation Mixer and the 2 Sample and Holds.

Also the Controller will have a 4 Octave Keyboard with Pitch and ModWheel. The Touchscreen which shows the VST Instrument is primarily use for switching, load and save the presets.

The controller will has about 226 Parameters. So i need 4 Midi Interfaces to control this Plugin."

Cynthia Anything Module

Currently on sale, "The Anything Module is a send/return type interface that turns all your effect boxes, stomp boxes, and processors into synthesizer modules.

Want to process your oscillator cluster through that vintage Ibanez fuzz? Or maybe you want to hear what a reverberated transient sounds like controlling your Modcan VCF. Need a fixed filter bank? Just patch-in that equalizer you've got laying around. The possibilities are obviously endless.

Modular synthesizer voltage levels can reach 30Vpp at clipping. In contrast, a guitar stomp box is made to handle about 0.2Vpp - over 40db difference! Until now, it was difficult to marry these two worlds. The Anything Module takes care of this for you by attenuating the synthesizer down to "consumer" levels on the way out, and amplifying the external effect back up to "modular" levels on the way back. Low-noise amplifiers are used throughout in true variable-gain configuration. This means you hear your effect, not the noise of the recovery amp.

You get adjustable send and return controls with red/green LEDs showing you proper recovery level so you get it right. The Anything Module features a mono section and separate stereo section. You can process your old Univox tape echo and a Midiverb (in stereo) at the same time. You can also use the recovery sections alone to bring in things like tape decks and CD players. This changes everything... um, I mean anything!"

SoundPrism Pro 1.4 now supports Accelerometer Input."

Erfurt, Germany, May 19th 2011

Audanika, developers of innovative iOS touchscreen instrument and MIDI controller SoundPrism Pro have released an update to the app that offers a degree of control over MIDI devices and virtual instruments that’s never been possible before and opens up an entirely new way of performing for musicians and producers alike.

This new version of the app allows you to use your iOS device to control MIDI control channels (which can be assigned to synth parameters & FX) through movement. By assigning a MIDI control channel to the X & Y axis and using the devices accelerometer you can manipulate sound through movement like never before - and whilst still using SoundPrism’s Pro’s innovative touch interface to play multiple MIDI channels, as demonstrated in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ToavJcbNCQ

The latest update also enables velocity, which opens up a new level of expression and realism to playing synths and VST instruments with SoundPrism Pro. Velocity sensitivity can also be set within the apps options, allowing the user to a good level of control over this feature.

SoundPrism Pro has already proven to be popular with the ever growing number of mobile music producers and performers and has already been used in work by Roger O’Donnell and Sleeping at Last, who have used the app to record their recent ‘Yearbook’ project. The app currently features in the top 100 music apps for iPad on the app store and is regularly recommended by Apple to their iOS users.

A free version of the app, which allows users to try out the apps basic features is currently available on the app store, whilst SoundPrism Pro - which includes all the features mentioned above is currently available for $15.99 / 12.99 EUR / £9.49

"This sequencer is one of the best CV Gate sequencers ever made. It is a great tool to use with a modular system like the Roland System 100m, 100 or 700. The sequences you can make with this machine are” tight as hell” and you won’t get a better timing with something else . Also these machine are quite rare cause they cost a fortune back in the 80′s. This particular MC4 is a B version with more memory and cassette interface. 110V version! All buttons and switches work as they should, fully cleaned and tested. Has some normal wear around the front and side panels."

NLogPoly Synth Pro To be Released Saturday

"TempoRubato is proud to announce the immediate release of NLogPoly Synth for Mac OSX. Availability in Mac App Store is scheduled for Saturday, May 21st.

With the release of NLogPoly Synth for Mac OSX including an Audio Unit version TempoRubato's virtual analogue synth technology - currently known from the iPad app NLogSynth PRO - is now available across both Apple's major platforms: Mac OSX and iOS.

Musicians, composers and producers now have a synth platform which allows them freely to move between mobile devices and their studio environment without any loss of quality. You can easily share all your patches made on iPad with NLogSynth PRO with NLogPoly Synth on Mac and vice versa.

NLogSynth has started on iOS devices recreating professional virtual analogue synthesis freshly from scratch to unveil the power of their specific hardware architecture. Based on 32 bit floating point processing NLogSynth utilizes advanced signal processing optimizations of Apple's A4 & A5 CPUs. After successfully running this new architectural approach for two years, we are now proud to provide the same algorithms on Mac's Intel architectures.

Thus, TempoRubato's NLogPoly Synth is bridging the gap between mobility and the studio.

NLogPoly Synth for Mac comes in currently two parts: A standalone app and an Audio Unit plug-in both supporting 32- & 64-bit environments. Depending on market response a VST version for Mac will be added later this year.

The standalone app is a multi-timbral engine providing the power of 8 polyphonic virtual analogue synths. Each with 4 OSC, 2 Filter, 4 LFOs, 4 Envelopes, Modulation Matrix and an individual Effect Rack with Reverb, 4 Band Parametric EQ, Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Stereo Delay and Distortion. All 8 synths can be assigned to individual MIDI channels. With assigning them to the same MIDI channel NLogPoly Synth provides a polyphonic multi-layered synth with up to 8 layers.

The Audio Unit version is running in as many instances your hardware allows within your DAW. It provides the full set of more than 200 parameters of the NLogSynth engine for automation or remote control by external hardware controller. NLogPoly Synth for Audio Unit has been tested with the recent versions of major hosts like Apple's Logic Studio, GarageBand, MainStage, Ableton's Live, Native Instruments' Maschine or Renoise.

NLogPoly Synth can be downloaded from the Mac App Store as a standalone application for 19.99 EUR / 24.99 USD. Owners of the standalone app can further download the Audio Unit plug-in from http://www.temporubato.com/audiounit as a free extension in parallel with the standalone app release starting on May 21st.

TempoRubato is a synthesizer 'microbrewery' located in Frankfurt, Germany founded by Rolf Wöhrmann. We believe in the good life and doing things at work we really like to do for the pleasure, creativity and joy of our users. Silk for iPad

Mat from microscopics wrote in letting me know about a new iPad app he has just released. It's not a synth, but rather a drawing app with synth generated ambient music in the background, and a wind chime effect while drawing. "The soundtrack and all sounds were made on the Arp Odyssey and Jupiter 6." You might remember the name Microscopics from various synth posts featured on this site as well as Osmos.

Yamaha CS01II plays ICE MACHINE by Depeche Mode

YouTube Uploaded by peahix on May 18, 2011

"Download this track here: http://snd.sc/jE70lS

The Yamaha CS01II is the first real synthesizer I ever owned. I got it when I was about 14 years old, back in 1985 or so. I noticed that I could get reasonable approximations of most of the sounds from Depeche Mode's "Speak & Spell" album with it, but at the time I didn't have the means to make decent multi-track cover versions, even after I got a 4-track.

Recently I was studying the Depeche Mode 5.1 surround mixes, and realized that I could clearly hear all the distinct parts of alot of the songs, so I decided to throw together some renditions using just my trusty old Yamaha CS01II as the sole sound source (including the drums), just to see how close I could get to the originals.

This version has no vocals at all, but otherwise it comes pretty close to the original. The actual musical arrangement is about 100% accurate. The sounds themselves are of course only approximations, and most of them don't have the same level of timbral detail as the ARP originals. I sequenced the whole thing in Cubase via a Kenton Pro Solo going into the custom CV/Gate inputs on my CS01II, recording each monophonic line in one at a time. Cubase provided the reverb and EQ, otherwise it's all CS01II."

Making Music with the MSSIAH Sequencer

Uploaded by 8bitventures on Aug 11, 2009

"This video demos how to use the MSSIAH Sequencer to create music with the Commodore 64.
It's as simple as with any other modern MAC or PC Sequencer. In this video the Sequencer is controlled with a
1351 mouse but it may also be operated with an Amiga or Atari mouse, ordinary C64 joystick, the keyboard itself or a PC mouse using a 1351 mouse adapter (such as the Micromys).
The MSSIAH Sequencer application can be switched to full MIDI mode in which it functions as a MIDI module being multi-timbral, polyphonic or a mix of both modes.

The MSSIAH Cartridge is a hardware cartridge with a built in MIDI interface and plugs into the back of your Commodore 64. It contains a variety of music applications that make your old Commodore computer play along the other gear in your studio.
MSSIAH Cartridge sells for EUR 49,95 and is available for purchase at our online store.
More info at: http://www.mssiah.com

In this video the MSSIAH Sequencer uses five channels of audio on the Commodore 64 still the SID (audio circuit in the C64) only had three oscillators available.
This is made possible by adding another SID to the computer giving a total of six tracks in MSSIAH Sequencer.
The cleanest way to put in the additional SID circuit is by using the SID2SID, a DIY circuit board also available for purchase at our online store."
