Kosmos Script for Kontakt Demonstration

"This video is not very musical but demonstrates playing with the parameters in Kosmos a synth front end developed using Kontakt scripting. It is used by hgsounds products and a lite version of Infekted is available for free from hgsounds.com on the Infekted page.

Apologes for the glitchy audio in places, still haven't perfected screencasting from asio...

Kosmos is basically a 2 oscillator Synth each with it's own selectable filter type and AMP Envelope. There are selectable waveforms usually from a selection of 40-50 which are provide by sampled instruments. The Filter Cutoff/Resonance is shared between the 2 Filters.

There is a dedicated Filter Envelope with Amount, Attack and Decay, a LFO dedicated to the Filter Cutoff with selectable shapes, Amount and Frequency, and an amount for Velocity to Filter Cutoff.

The FX Section is made up of Reverb, Tempo Delay and a modulator which can be either a Flanger, Phaser or Chorus at various speeds.

There is also a sophisticated randomization section which has various modes for Randomizing different parts of the preset.

"Exploring the Driscoll Modular.
This was built in Australia in the late 70's , early 80's (I think)
by Julian Driscoll.
Very similar to the early Serge though not a clone.
These Driscoll panels were comissioned & used by Warren Burt.

much of which he built himself.

This is second test videos for my techos who will be restoring this bit of synth history.
It's wonderful to hear these old Driscolls (and the odd Serge). They have been silent for too long.

"This is a test using sphero with nils. It is also using audiobus connecting sinusoid as an input to nils. Sphero streams gyroscope data to nils, which is used to control the sample rate (or any other 3 parameters the user chooses) and nils sends sound meter data to sphero, to control its light. Use the buttons on the front to scroll through tunings, which then remain set to what you chose. There is a master pitch knob, as well as a master chaos knob. There are 42 nodes to touch or weave with wire, making weird and unique tone and gesture combinations. Press a bar, its sound goes left, release it, its sound goes right; it has a stereo influence. The Sidrassi is an Organ, designed to reflect the glory of god with pure triangular voices. But it also allows exploration of the Devils' Tone, which is irrational pitch relationships achieved through analog modulations. The instrument runs on transformer ("wall-wart"). The standard model uses wooden bars, but please inquire for other possibilities."

"The Luminist Garden created by Arius Blaze - one of the finest and sweetest sounding folktek works. This work is an expanded version of the Micro Garden, capable of making lush choral waves and entire compositions as a standalone work. The expanded soundboard has multiple pick ups that run into the delay - which offers time settings from extremely tight notated repeats to about 1.5 seconds with near infinite undecaying feedback that essentially acts as a looper allowing one to make beats by tapping the board and plucking or rubbing the strings.

The delay runs into a very lush and unusual "wave reverb" that has the ability to act more as a wave generator, creating waves that can endlessly extend - based on the original note but with the ability to pitch shift the feedback, resulting in something like what is called "convolution". The result is rich electronic music from an accoustic source. Sweet ambience and micro musical. Stereo out, custom lamps and switch, runs on 9v DC power adapter (standard plug jack and power rating)."

"Beginning this June, Important Records will be releasing a series of vinyl records and a subsequent cd box-set of Alessandro Cortini on the Buchla Music Easel. The first album, 'Forse 1', will be issued as a double LP.  It will feature Alessandro playing an original Buchla Music Easel with a mastery and intimacy unlike anything previously released. It's obvious from these recordings that Alessandro has spent a great deal of time exploring, experimenting, and pushing the Easel to its limits. I think the readers of your site will be really enthusiastic about these recordings as they showcase what the Easel is capable of, and the talents of Alessandro. We are very excited about these releases and pleased that they will coincide with the BEMI Music Easel reboot this June. The masters have been submitted and the artwork is being finalized as we speak.

Over the last twelve years, I have worked as an analog repair and restoration technician, including an apprenticeship under Don Buchla. I've had the opportunity to restore over a dozen complete vintage Buchla modular systems, and also worked on over a hundred modules from both the 100 and 200 series.
