Crazy Vintage Synth Tour At Vengeance Sound

video upload by Doctor Mix

"Today I travel all the way to Germany to discover Avenger 2, yet-to-be-released plugin synthesizer by Vengeance Sound. More about it 👉https://www.vengeance-sound.com/"

This one was spotted and sent in via Soviet Space Child who noted:

"If you remember Vengeance sound, they were makers of some very popular patch collections for synths such as the Access Virus, Waldorf Q, JP-8000, etc in the early 2000's [Virus C & Waldorf Q demos below]. They've since branched out into sample banks and their own VST's such as Avenger."

Soundplant 39 Released

"Soundplant 39 Released – Turns The QWERTY Keyboard Into A Playable Instrument & Instant Sound Triggering Tool

New York, NY – May 20, 2010 – Today Marcel Blum released Soundplant 39 for Windows and Mac, the first major update since 2004 of the popular low cost software sampler that turns the computer keyboard into a low latency digital audio performance tool and playable instrument. Ultra-optimized for the standard QWERTY keyboard, Soundplant allows the assignment of sound files of unlimited size onto 72 keyboard keys, for hours of instantly-playing audio with no need for extra hardware.

New version 39 adds several major features in response to user requests, including support for virtually all audio file formats in existence, a 'background key detection' mode that allows Soundplant to continue receiving key input even while minimized or hidden, waveform display, detailed playback progress indicators for all channels, precise fading control, and randomization settings. Soundplant 39 also marks the first official Mac release after several years in beta on that platform.

Since it’s debut as a free Windows beta in 1999, Soundplant has won multiple awards and gained a dedicated cult following in the DJ and pro audio worlds for its combination of simplicity, standalone sound triggering power, rock-solid stability for live use, low cost, and versatility as a multipurpose playback utility. The BBC uses it for sound design on Doctor Who. Breakcore producer Droon uses it during his raucous performances with a keyboard strapped around his neck like a QWERTY keytar. When John McCain won primaries during his 2008 presidential campaign, it was Soundplant playing "Johnny B. Goode" at his victory rallies. Electroacoustic composer Darren Copeland even created a composition for Soundplant (Letters To Our Names, for 1 or more laptop performers). Soundplant’s spread by word of mouth has been viral, with the $35 software challenging - and in some spheres overtaking - the dominance of expensive dedicated hardware; in Sweden, sound engineer Mattias Dalin of SVT calls Soundplant "without doubt the most used playback program in TV work over here, with great success."

Soundplant can be used to trigger sound effects or background tracks during a show, for music or loop creation, as a drum pad, as an educational aid, as a unique electronic instrument with an input device you’ve been practicing on for as long as you’ve been typing, and as a sound design sketchpad. It allows dragging and dropping sound files on to keys for quick and easy setup; playback from RAM for instant cueing or from disk for unlimited sound length; auto-pitch-assign to easily spread the same sound across multiple keys at varying pitches; auto-offset-assign to quickly slice up samples across multiple keys; and much more. Soundplant is a true performance program that allows playback and triggering to continue even while configuring, loading, and unloading sounds on the fly.

Availability and pricing
Soundplant is offered as a free download at http://soundplant.org/ which includes a 25-launch trial of the registered features. In unregistered mode it is free for non-commercial use and limited to playing uncompressed 8- and 16-bit wav and aif files. The registered version (USD $35, or a $27 upgrade from previous versions) allows loading all sound file types including higher bit depths, compressed formats like mp3, mp4, flac, wma, alac, audio from video files like avi, flv, mov, wmv, and more.

Matt Morton on Moog IIIc Modular Synth and the Apollo 11 Soundtrack

Published on Jun 3, 2018 Matt Morton Music

Playlist:

1. Moog IIIc techno sketch
Stumbled on this little sketch while I was taking a break from scoring (finishing up 'Apollo 11' which will premiere on opening night of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival on January 24, and then hit theaters and TV in the spring/summer of 2019) and I was playing around with my Q963 trigger busses. Seems like the really fun ideas usually come when you're not looking for them too hard.

Gear used: Moog Synthesizer IIIc reissue, Soundgas modified Binson Echorec 2 (with varispeed and wet-only out), Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencers, trigger bus, signal selector, and foot control for filter cutoff, BAE 1073MPF mic preamps, Radial JDI direct boxes and ReAmp feeding the Binson (via RME Fireface 800)
2. Moog IIIc and valve varispeed Binson Echorec 2 T7E
This is me improvising on my 2017 Moog Synthesizer IIIc reissue, fed into a Soundgas Ltd. valve Binson Echorec 2 T7E (with varispeed and wet-only mods). The kick is a mixture of two sources: a kick I synthesized on the Moog using sine and triangle waves, and a kick I recorded from my 1967 Ace Tone Rhythm Ace. The eighth note bass line is coming from my Minimoog Model D reissue. For the main part (that you see me doing live), the dry signal is panned hard right, and the Binson's wet-only output (thanks Soundgas!) is panned hard left. I captured them with BAE 1073 MPF preamps and Radial JDI Jensen-equipped DIs. Also, the Moog-style sequencers (along with most of the other non-Moog modules I'm using) are by Synthesizers.com.
3. Matt Morton on Moog IIIc Modular Synth
This is a quick sketch on my 2017 Moog IIIc Modular Synthesizer Reissue (serial number 19 of 25 made). I'm also using modules by Synthesizers.com (including two Q960 sequencers) and STG Soundlabs (Post-Lawsuit Filter on the non-sequenced bass voice).

And from the Apollo 11 soundtrack:

The soundtrack is currently available on Amazon.

via Synthtopia

"The highly-acclaimed film (currently rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes) features a score by composer Matt Morton, who chose to score it using an expanded palette of orchestra + electronics – but only using instruments that would have been available in 1969.

Morton says that every instrument and effect used in the score existed at the time of the mission in 1969 including the Moog modular Synthesizer IIIc, the Binson Echorec 2 tube echo, the Mellotron sample playback keyboard and the instruments of the orchestra."

Spirits Of The Temple Electric

YouTube via JohnLRice.
"This was a modular synth patch similar to the one used in my "They Don't Care What You Do" video. I was using it to play around with watching the output run through an oscilloscope to see what it looked like. I started liking the audio and I thought a video tape of the o-scope would be good enough for a quick and dirty YouTube video. Once I started playing around with video effects though, the whole thing turned into something breathtaking and mysterious! (IMHO of course! ;-)

Watch it once through as is and then go back at watch it again and randomly pause the playback in many places and you may be surprised at the images you see! I see different faces (human/animal/???), bodies, buildings, structures and cosmic landscapes etc . . . many with seemingly very iconic spiritual/religious overtones! I mused that by chance I had stumbled upon a way to view an alternative electronic dimension and the beings or spirits that live and rule there! (I sure do miss those old Outer Limits TV shows! ;-)

So, I hope you enjoy this. I may make a second version in the near future with the same music but just a selection of the images as a slide show so it will be easier to ponder and let your imagination run wild.

Thank you are taking the time to watch, rate and comment!"

NEW APPS AVAILABLE FOR THE LINE 6 MIDI MOBILIZER

"—Transforming your Apple® iPod touch™, iPhone™ and iPad™ into a complete music production studio—

CALABASAS, Calif.—November 18, 2010—Line 6, Inc. (line6.com), the industry leader in digital modeling technology for music-creation products, is proud to announce a dozen new apps for the MIDI Mobilizer™, the only MIDI interface for Apple iPod touch, iPhone and iPad.

“Developers are doing an amazing job of harnessing the power of the Apple devices and turning them into serious music-making MIDI machines – all made possible by MIDI Mobilizer,” remarked Chris Grigg, Mobile Products Manager at Line 6. “Prepare to be completely amazed at how much you can do with such tiny, affordable gear.”

MIDI Mobilizer is the most simple, compact, and portable Line 6 device yet. It easily connects directly with any Apple iPod touch, iPhone or iPad and coupled with MIDI Memo Recorder (a free app available for download on the Apple App Store), it allows musicians to conveniently play, record, and backup MIDI data any time, anywhere.

Following the announcement earlier this summer of the free MIDI Mobilizer Third Party Developer Program, over 70 app developers around the world are working on new apps that will support MIDI Mobilizer. In addition to MIDI Memo Recorder, there are currently a dozen apps available for MIDI Mobilizer: NanoStudio, NLogSynth Pro, NLog MIDI Synth, Music Studio, Pianist Pro, StepPolyArp, MIDI Surface, Little MIDI Machine, MIDI Live, bs-16i, and S1MIDI Trigger. [brief descriptions on each further below]

NanoStudio, for example, is a techno-styled, full-featured virtual recording studio complete with 16 sample trigger pads, a comprehensive sequencer, a sample editor, a mixer and 10 FX units. Another is NLog Synth PRO, which is a professional virtual analogue synthesizer with 192 factory sounds, powerful synth features, and more. Pianist Pro, an 88-key virtual piano for the iPad, has been highlighted in Apple commercials and recommended by the New York Times, Rolling Stone magazine, and others.

These apps are just the beginning – many more are in development and will be available soon.

MIDI Mobilizer is compatible with millions of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) devices, from classic to modern, including synthesizers, digital pianos, effects processors, and Line 6 guitar amps and POD® products.

MIDI Mobilizer is available now, with an estimated street price of $69.99."

NLog MIDI Synth
"This app is an extended version of the famous "NLog Synthesizer" app providing external access from MIDI keyboards or other MIDI controller. The synth engine has been rewritten to provide polyphonic realtime response. Now you have a real synthesizer out of your IOS device which you can play with your keyboards. A MIDI interface is needed to operate with external keyboards. This version supports Line6's Midi Mobilizer. Other interfaces like Akai's Synthstation will be supported in future updates once they become available. The app is also usable without MIDI interface with on-screen keyboard..."

Music Studio
"Music Studio offers a complete music production environment on the iPhone/iPod touch with features and a sound quality previously only known to desktop applications and expensive audio hardware.

It combines a piano keyboard, 40 studio-quality instruments with sustain, a fully fledged 128-track sequencer, extensive note editing, reverb, real-time effects and much more on a user-friendly interface."

Pianist Pro
"As featured in the latest Apple "iPad is Musical" TV Ad, recommended by The New York Times, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, Rolling Stone Magazine, and played live by legendary band Squeeze on the Jimmy Fallon show (NBC).

Pianist, the ORIGINAL iPhone piano, turns Professional in an all new iPad-only app with photo-realistic graphics and an unbelievable sound. Pianist Pro was the number one music app for the iPad at release and has remained high in the charts ever since."

StepPolyArp
"StepPolyArp is a midi step polyphonic arpeggiator. The arpeggiator does not play any sound itself, it transmits midi notes to a Mac or a PC to be used in combination with any sequencer, virtual instrument (VSTi, Audio Unit) or midi synthesizer.

The arpeggiator can transform chords into sequences of notes played one after the other in several ways. A matrix polyphonic step modulate arpeggiated notes in time and pitch. The main controllers (velocity, modulation, panning, volume, aftertouch, and pitch bend) are also programmable through a step editor. The integrated keyboard automatically adapts to the selected musical scale."

MIDI Surface
"MIDI Surface is a full-featured MIDI control surface for iPhone and iPod touch, brought to you by the minds at Audiofile Engineering (creators of FiRe - Field Recorder, Backline Calc and other essential audio apps). Designed for use with the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer hardware accessory, MIDI Surface allows users to easily create and save their own customized MIDI control surfaces. It delivers seamless touch-screen control of MIDI-enabled instruments such as keyboards, drum machines, software synths and more."

Little MIDI Machine
"Little MIDI Machine is an analog-style MIDI step sequencer app for the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer interface. This app requires you own the hardware Line 6 Mobilizer MIDI interface hardware accessory for full functionality.

Little MIDI Machine gives you the step sequencing power of a hardware analog sequencer on your iPad! Program two independent sequencers that send note and velocity MIDI data out on two MIDI channels to control your hardware synthesizers. LittleMM includes many of your favorite hardware sequencer features such as mute and un-mute notes, skip steps, reverse the sequencer, adjustable clock speed, etc. If you do not have a Line 6 Mobilizer, LittleMM can generate very basic melodic sounds in place of sending MIDI. This will let you play around with the app and try it out, but it is not a feature that will be developed further and is not the primary purpose of the app. LittleMM is intended to be a MIDI sequencer driving external hardware.

With Little Music Machine you can use your Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer interface along with your favorite hardware synth and your iPad to create mind-bending loops and sequences."

MIDI Live
"This application is designed for live performance using the Midi Mobilizer from Line 6. It provides realtime modification of midi file parameters including:

* Song Tempo
* Key Change
* Instrument Assignment
* Song Cue
* Mixing Parameters

It is possible to alter these parameters while the song is playing or save for future playback. Playlists are also supported. Songs can be freely downloaded from the internet or loaded from your laptop.

Note: This application does not make sound on its own, it requires the Midi Mobilizer from Line 6."

bs-16i
"bs-16i is a 16 multi-timbral playback sampler. It supports SoundFont, and can be used for keyboard instrument, MIDI sound module, and MIDI player.

The sampler engine is ported from bs-1 / bs-16, which is developed as professional plug-in for Logic (Audio Units) and Cubase (VST instrument).
Using SoundFont libraries, you can play with your great number of Instruments.
It supports all standard MIDI messages, so it also can be used as a GM (General MIDI) sound module.

As a keyboard instrument, you can play with scalable keyboard, pitch bend wheel, and many control change controllers.

Internal MIDI player supports SMF (Standard MIDI File) format."

S1MIDI Trigger
S1MidiTrigger turns your iPad or iPhone into a customizable touchscreen MIDI controller that can replace hardware devices costing hundreds of dollars. Connect wirelessly to audio workstation applications on the PC or Mac, or use Line 6's MIDI Mobilizer hardware add-on!

You can use the built-in controller screens or design your own, with touch pads (for drums and other instruments), sliders, X-Y pads and more. (Note: This requires a MIDI application -- it does not play music by itself.)

S1MidiTriggger is compatible with the open-source DSMidiWifi server, but for even faster response you can download our free S1 server software for PC or OS X. (A fast wifi connection is recommended.)

Don't worry if you don't have the best musical skills! With S1MidiTrigger, it's very easy to just tap some pads to play simple notes or even complete chords.

Miami Vice and Melrose Place Oberheim DPX-1 Vintage Sample Player?

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

The SN appears to be 750645 which was listed back in 2017 here - same marks on the back. Note the description for the new listing states this was owned by Tim Truman with a note on it being used on Miami Vice and Melrose Place, but there's no mention of that in the previous post.

"Here is a fine example of the classic DPX-1. It can playback various sample formats such as from the Ensoniq Mirage, Emulator II, etc. This unit has been owned by Tim Truman originally, composer of the theme to Melrose Place among many other pieces of music for TV/FILM.

The following upgrades have been installed:

- PSU recapped by Andrei Kudryavtsev
- Floppy drive replaced with HXC Rev F floppy emulator
- OS upgraded to latest version

The PSU on the DPX is notorious for blowing capacitors, so having your DPX recapped is an absolute must. With these upgrades you can be confident that your DPX will give you years of trouble-free use. I'm including some of Tim Truman's personal sound disks. The 5.25" floppies are included as-is, while the 3.5" floppies have been converted into images to use with the emulator.

Also, I have put many other sample collections onto the SD card such as the Ensoniq Mirage library. Everything works 100 percent on this and sounds great. Please feel free to message me any questions about it, thanks!"

NAMM: KORG KAOSS PAD QUAD

"Dynamic Effects Processor

Create your own combination of Kaoss effects, and simultaneously control up to four effects using a single fingertip! Introducing the Kaoss Pad Quad; it’s Kaoss control evolved to a whole new level.

Kaoss Pad Quad Highlights

* Brilliant, colorful LED touchpad illuminations move in sync with your performance

* Control multiple effects in realtime using the intuitive Kaoss X-Y touchpad

* Create your own Kaoss combinations and use up to four effects at once

* Choose one of five effects from each of four effect groups; a total of 1,295 combinations!

* Freeze button holds the effect settings after you release your finger, for dazzling hands-free use

* Versatile and highly playable effects control, delivering unimaginable expression

* New Looper effects – Forward, Reverse and Slice – add new audio intensity

* Mix it up with new DJ emulation Vinyl Break and Ducking Compressor effects

* Auto BPM engine detection and Tap Tempo functions keep your Kaoss locked to the beat

Twelve years ago, the first-generation Kaoss Pad exploded onto the DJ/music scene with touchpad-based effect control. Since then, the overwhelming acceptance and popularity of the X-Y touchpad is evident in many Korg products – Kaoss Pad effects, the Kaossilator Series, our padKONTROL and nanoPAD controllers, even the exclusive M3 TouchView™ display – that are now standards in the scene. To this we add the Kaoss Pad Quad, with new effects, functions, and features that truly stand out from the crowd.

As suggested by the name "Quad", this new Kaoss Pad lets you use up to four effects simultaneously. These effects can be sync’ed to the beat of your music, to freely transform your song in realtime. Any audio source can be processed; an MP3 player, a mixing board, an instrument, even vocals via the mic input! The expressive performance potential that arises from the Kaoss Pad Quad leaves other effect units in the dust, and rapidly approaches the realm of an "instrument". The brilliant and colorful LED touchpad illumination adds a strong sense of individuality, further enhancing the Kaoss Pad Quad’s unique character.

The Kaoss Pad Quad will enthrall everyone. The intense user can engage in highly technical performances; the casual user can enjoy DJ-like fun. Either way, the audience will be equally captivated. The interest and depth emanating from this new instrument is sure to touch every listener.

Dazzling, illuminated touchpad control
The intuitive interface that has helped to make the Korg Kaoss Series so popular is alive and well on the Kaoss Pad Quad. As you tap, slide, or move your finger across the X-Y touchpad, the effect parameters will change, producing dramatic realtime changes in the sound. One big change to the touchpad is brilliant LEDs that light up in an intense variety of colors. The illumination changes depending on the state of the effects, the BPM setting, and on your movements while performing. The DJ booth or stage will be brilliantly illuminated, visually boosting the excitement level!

Use up to four effects simultaneously for unimaginable expression
Kaoss Pad Quad lets you simultaneously control up to four effects from the touchpad. Each of the four effect modules – Looper; Modulation; Filter; and Delay/Reverb – contains five options (plus a null, or off position), for a total of 1,295 combinations! Best of all, effects can be chosen directly from the front panel, a more intuitive and physical process than on previous Kaoss Pad models. Enjoy trying your own Kaoss combinations and discovering ways to radically morph the sound.

By rhythmically adding successive effects, or switching effects on and off as your song progresses, you can use the Kaoss Pad Quad to add variation and development to the structure of your song. In other words, even a simple beat can potentially be transformed into a killer tune that will whip the dance floor into a frenzy. In addition to being an enormous asset to the professional, the Kaoss Pad Quad is also great fun for the casual user. It is extremely straightforward and easy to use; just touch the pad to apply effects. Connect a portable audio player or any audio source, and begin enjoying hours of sound creation and manipulation. Once you get started, you'll lose all track of time!

Freeze button offers hands-free effects!
For each of the four effect modules, there's a Freeze button that memorizes the position at which you're touching the touchpad, causing that effect to be held even after you release your finger. If you touch the touchpad again while Freeze is enabled, only the non-frozen effects will be controlled. You can achieve even higher levels of performance freedom by using the four Freeze buttons in conjunction with the effect type buttons.

Expand your performance with newly designed effects
In addition to more traditional effects, the Kaoss Pad Quad offers many new types of effects:

Multi-Mode Looper
Use the touchpad to loop part of your song; the number of beats is controlled by the location you touched. Three types of looping are provided; the standard Looper; the Rev Looper (Reverse Looper) which plays the looped phrase backward; and the Loop Slicer, which divides the phrase and lets you loop-play only a specific portion. You can switch between the different looper types by sliding your finger up and down the touchpad as the loop plays, producing radical new beats on a whim. Using these sophisticated loop tools makes it easy to ignite a frenzy on the dance floor.

Vinyl Break turntable effects
The first effect lets you slide your finger up and down on the touchpad to simulate the scratch sounds that can be produced on a turntable. Next, if you leave your finger on the touchpad without moving it, you can also create the effect of gradually slowing the playback speed to a stop, just as when you stop the rotation of a turntable. This realistic sound is highly usable as part of a DJ performance, allowing even a beginner to feel like an experienced DJ.

Ducking Comp transforms the playback
This creates the distinctive “ducking compressor” effects that have become a staple in music production. By boosting the sound level during off-beats of the kick drum, this effect can expressively transform your sound in very musical ways.

Stay in Sync!
The proprietary Auto BPM engine automatically detects the tempo/BPM (Beats Per Minute) of the song that's playing or the audio source. Using this function allows BPM effects such as delay to remain in sync with the song. Tap Tempo is also provided; you can press the TAP button several times at the desired tempo to set the appropriate BPM value even for a song that does not have a strong rhythmic feel or whose BPM is difficult to detect. You can also use the BPM knob to make fine adjustments."

8 Bit Jukebox

Published on May 15, 2014 littleBits TV·391 videos

"Project Instructions: http://littlebits.cc/projects/8-bit-8...

The 8-bit Jukebox is a chiptune music box powered by littleBits' new Arduino module. The module is programmed with 4 different songs that playback with a retro, video-game-styled 8-bit sound. To select which song you would like to play, just insert one of the 4 song cartridges into a slot on top of the box. Embedded in each cartridge is a light filter with a different opacity. Inserting the cartridge triggers an LED to shine light through the filter, and a light sensor determines which song cartridge was inserted by reading the amount of light passing through the filter. Two different littleBits synth modules, Envelope and Delay, give you a chance to play with the audio single creating a more dynamic sound.

littleBits makes an open source library of electronic modules that snap together with magnets for prototyping, learning, and fun. Find out more at littleBits.cc"

"STRAYLIGHT was built in collaboration with Frank Elting and The most human colors, a boutique instrument and sound design agency. The instrument was also developed in consultation with composer Paul Haslinger (Underworld, Minority Report, Fear The Walking Dead, Rainbow Six: Siege).

Craft unique cinematic soundscapes, transitions, and ambient tones in real-time. Built for sound designers and film, TV, and game composers, STRAYLIGHT is ideal for everything from post-apocalyptic sci-fi to gritty thrillers. It combines specialized grain and sample playback modules with carefully captured sound sources, effects, and a powerful performance-based X-Y modulation matrix, allowing inspirational dynamic performance and sound design, direct to picture.

THE GRANULAR ENGINE

STRAYLIGHT has a bespoke granular engine that places the source audio into a powerful and specialized – yet easy-to-use – interface. Harness lush, organic timbres that can defy time and pitch, yet still retain the pristine character of the source sounds (strings, glass, stone, membranes, and more), and sonically evolve over time (risers and transitions can adapt automatically to project tempo).

Small sounds can be vastly magnified in size and scope without sacrificing their sound quality or character. The granular engine is then paired with a layer from the sample module, offering the same level of editing and modulation.

PERFORM REAL-TIME MODULATION

STRAYLIGHT’s modulation and effects sections ensure a fast, creative workflow. The precise X-Y control enables expressive direct-to-picture performance and detailed control over intensity and timing. Apply and modulate up to 14 different effects – taken from nine different categories: Filters, dynamics, EQs, gaters, drivers, modulation, delays, utilities, and reverbs. STRAYLIGHT even includes specially captured reverb impulse responses, selected to complement its audio content and granular engine.

Easily assign MIDI CC to the XY matrix, and use it in conjunction with master effects to ride intensity, direct to picture.

Both the granular and sample modules offer deep editing possibilities for personalizing the source sounds and intelligent randomization for generating new sounds quickly.

Use tempo-synced grain cursor speeds for creating perfectly timed transitions and risers.

Select up to four different effect types each for the grain and sample layers, plus four additional master effects, and two send effects – and you can assign parameters from all those effects to macros or the X-Y matrix.

Tag based browsing for both presets and sound sources makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. Tags even apply when randomizing the modules."
