SSF Entity Bass Drum Synth - Waveform Processing

Published on Jan 31, 2017 SteadyStateFate

"The Entity Bass Drum Synthesizer can be used as a waveform processor as well. This is accomplished by patching a waveform from a VCO into the TRIGGER input on the Entity BDS.

The controls will now alter the texture and harmonic content of the resultant sound. This demo shows some examples of how the controls affect the sound. Vowel-y filter and wave-folder style affects can be achieved in this manner.

Another entity is used to make the kick drum sound for effect - and the duck output from the kick is patched into the processor to duck the output volume."

"Bass and Drum Synthesizer Voice

The Entity Bass Drum is a complete and versatile synthesizer voice geared for designing a huge array of bass drum, percussive and synth sounds. Finally, a truly deep tool for creating analog bass drum, bass lines and other percussive effects is here!

The design consists of a high fidelity resonant filter, 2 stage slope generator (rise/fall) with independent slope shaping, a high fidelity VCA and discrete transistor saturation circuitry. Every parameter on the Entity Bass drum is voltage controllable.

By applying a trigger of any length and at least 2V amplitude, we excite the resonant filter to produce a percussive sine wave. The pitch control tunes the output with a range of 8Hz to around 2.2KHz. Both higher and lower levels are achievable using the FM input for modulation etc. The internal filter will track 3-4 octaves reliably and the tracking device is temperature compensated.

The slope generator (ENV) can be switched into the circuit via the 3 way switch below the FM LVL control. This control is a bipolar attenuator which affects the level of the slope generator and/or external modulator that affects the pitch of the output.
The 3 way switch selects FM, FM+ENV or just ENV as a mod source.

The rise/fall envelope is a two stage function generator. The controls provide slope timing from 1ms to about a minute. To the right of these controls is the shaping section where logarithmic, linear and exponential slope shapes are selected independently for the two envelope stages.
The envelope is designed to re-trigger at a set point. This allows for changing dynamics to occur to pitch and amplitude when the slope times are greater than the output transient time. For instance the sound can vary between any number of triggers that fire before the envelope set point is reached. Setting the slope time fast enough (below roughly 1 o'clock) provides for nominal operation. Settings will vary depending on trigger and ring decay timing.
The envelope can also be used exclusively or in a more complex patch via a direct +ENV output. Additionally, a novel DUCK output provides a means to control external VCAs - to work like slow compressors. DUCK is an inverted and positively offset version of the +ENV out. This keeps VCAs open when the envelope is off and effectively 'ducks' the VCA when the envelope fires. Of course, mod sources for these outputs are not limited to VCAs...

SSF & WMD ULTRA FOLD tease

Published on Feb 5, 2014 SteadyStateFate·23 videos

"Teaser of the SSF/WMD Ultra-Fold wave folder and timbre animator. The Ultra-Fold is one of six recently announced modules from the SSF/WMD collaboration series.

The demo begins with some basic wiggling of the controls and typical sounds when modifying a triangle wave from the SSF/WMD Spectrum VCO.
Various Ultra-Fold CV effects from low frequency and into the audio range are demonstrated using the WMD PDO and The Harvestman Hertz Donut mkii, as well as a Doepfer A-147 LFO for CV only.
The demo finishes off with a complex and squelchy acid rhythm using said modules and processed solely through the Ultra-Fold.
All signals are attenuated by the SSF Mixmode and scaled by WMD ProOutput for proper recording levels into a DSLR camera."

Voltergeist 5U Dotcom Format Make Noise Maths MKII Shipping

via Vince Mecanikill on Facebook

"I am finishing building the last Maths module today and they will be shipping out to everyone tomorrow on Monday. Sorry for the delay on them but I am sure you will be happy with them! I decided to move a few of the pots to space them out a little better on the first run and the second run also as you can see in the picture. The pre order for the second run will be up this week on Voltergeist.org so anyone that missed out on the first round now is your chance to get one of these beast for your Dotcom system.

The panels are here and the boards are on their way. We are doing 5 of these to start with more at a later date. Please use the link at the bottom of this post for the module info with the patchbooks showing you all the insane shit you can do with this module. I do not have anything else in my system as versatile as this and it truly is a Swiss Army knife for your system with more features than you can imagine. Time to put some spicy chocolate in your MU and yes the knobs are big and have dots so there is plenty of ham room.
The Positronic Transient Gate is an extremely versatile, unique transient generator. Unlike traditional slew and envelope generators, the PTG's transients are derived purely from Vactrol behavior. Rather than using capacitor integrators, the PTG uses current control to exploit all the wonder that Vactrols have to offer. In fact, not a single capacitor exists in the signal path.

The layout is very open ended, providing the flexibility to perform a vast number of unique transient functions never before conceived until now. The PTG is a multifunctional beast that is sure to please!

Key Features and Functions:

Bipolar Vactrol Transient Generation
Vactrol VCAs
Envelope Follower
Signal Boosting/Overdrive/Distortion
Wide Range/Response
Over 40 Unique Documented Patches
Dual

"Vactrol Drift" patch - SSF -Positronic Transient Gate /Propagate

"Vactrol Drift" patch - SSF -Positronic Transient Gate /Propagate from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"First recorded patch using the new setup, and first patch experiment using the SSF Steady State Propagate and Positronic Transient Gate modules. The patch also includes some modules from my Enclave 12U case which is sitting on the floor as my camera lens isn't wide enough to capture everything. Everything clocked from one MakeNoise Wogglebug using the clocked/chaotic burst outputs. Tempo set very low for mid tempo pace of the rhythms. The clocked out is running into the seed input via the Animatter Brain seed, running trigger out to the Mungo g0 Depth Modulation input. The width and frequency modulation inputs controlled by the stepped output on the Wogglebug. Reset input on the g0 is being set by the Wogglebug clocked output. The waveform sequence is some percussion samples created on the Nord G2 modular synthesizer. Mult gate out to one Makenoise optomix, white noise hi-hats from the blue lantern noise generator "whitenoise" output. Kick drum trigger from the Cwejman BLD multi connection point via the Makenoise Brains clock master from the Wogglebug. Additional clock sent to the TipTop trigger riot. Then programming one channel output with high random probability to one input on the Propagate. Second input down from a mult connection point via the MakeNoise Wogglebug gate out. Creating counter back and forth pulses to Tiptop Z8000 sequencer. Summed output taken from the Propagate running into the PTG in low pass gate percussive setting. PTG running plucking one self resonating pitch of the Intellijel Korgasmatron (sine drop sfx). Wavetable morphing via the Synthesis Technology morphing terrarium, running into the Harvestman Double Andore, triggered by the gate burst input from the Woggle bug. Random white noises scatters courtesy of the Modcan CV recorder. CV controlled by the stepped and Smooth CV output on the Wogglebug. Output taken through the MakeNoise Phonogene for added glitches to signal. The mixed sum of all voices into a intellijel mutagen mixer. Outputs A going through Eventide Space, on patch setting 22 "Corridors". Output section C running into the Red Panda Particle Pedal, adding in more granular glitches and processing done by hand in real-time. Going into pure Red Panda granular processing at the end."
